VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED THE FIRST 7 TIMES, BUT AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING, IT GOES AWAY AND CAR DRIVES LIKE NORMAL. TODAY WHILE DRIVING IT HAPPENED AT AROUND 60MPH. BOTH THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND AFTER A RESTART THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. VEHICLE BARELY LIMPED THE REST OF THE 5 MILES TO MY HOUSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY AS WELL NEARLY CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. CURRENTLY WAITING ON DEALERSHIP TO COME BACK WITH A QUOTE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL NOTICE AND WARRANTY THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE JUST WEIGHING THE COST OF A LAWSUIT DUE TO FATALITY VS. THE COST OF WARRANTING THE MALFUNCTIONING PART. PAYING A FEW MILLION TO A FAMILY IS CHEAPER THAN PAYING TO FIX ~725,000 VEHICLES. WORK WITH THE THROTTLE BODY SUPPLIER, GET YOUR QA/QC UNDER CONTROL, AND FIX THE ISSUE GUYS. *TR ## VIN FAILED ##
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, LEFT LANE AT 72 MPH, CAR MADE A CLUNKING NOISE AND SHUDDERED, INSTANTLY LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ENGINE, TACH DROPPED TO 720 RPM, TRANSMISSION ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. PULLED OFF HIGHWAY TO SHOULDER. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING 30MPH DOWN A BUSY STREET, WITH BACK-TO-BACK TRAFFIC, WHEN THE CAR JOLTED FORWARDED AT WHICH TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED BUCKING (GOING FORWARD AND BACKWARD) AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO A CRAWL WHILE CONTINUING TO "BUCK." THIS INCIDENT FORCED EVERYONE BEHIND ME TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS AND I WAS NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR AND HAD I BEEN GOING ANY FASTER, THEY MAY HAVE SUFFERED FROM WHIPLASH WHEN THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD, STARTED BUCKING AND SLOWED TO A CRAWL SIMULTANEOUSLY OR THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE LEAD TO A SEVERAL CAR PILE UP SINCE THIS HAPPENED DURING THE BUSIEST TIME OF DAY. A TOW TRUCK WAS DISPATCHED AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MOTOR FAILED AND WHEN IT DID, THE THROTTLE WAS FORCED SHUT (ERROR CODE: P2112). *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WOULDN'T SPEED UP AFTER APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL. THEN IT STARTED TO LURCH, OR JERK FORWARD, AND THE 'WRENCH' INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND APPLY THE BRAKES, WHICH WORKED BUT WERE GRINDING. I LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE STARTED AGAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD/FAULTY THROTTLE, WHICH WAS REPAIRED. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND, DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THESE INCIDENTS, I URGE A RECALL BE ISSUED FOR ALL APPLICABLE VEHICLES. *TR
MY CAR KEEPS STALLING , AFTER TAKING TO MECHANIC IT WAS DIAGNOSTIC TESTED WITH THROTTLE ACENTURE CONTROL SYSTEM THAT WAS DEFECTIVE UNABLE TO GET PART FROM FORD CORP. WAS TOLD THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL WEEKS MORE. TO MANY FORD FUSION NEED PART THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION THAT LEADS INTO RECALL ITS NOT FAIR TO US BUYERS I HAVE PERSONALLY CALLED FORD DEALERS IN 5 SURROUNDING STATES FOR 4 DAYS NO ONE HAS THE PART NOR FOR CANADA OR FORD MEXICO SOMETHING WRONG HERE. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. NO POWER UNTIL VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SLOWLY DECELERATED. AFTER PULLING OVER AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, WAITED A MINUTE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO LONGER ANY WARNING LIGHTS AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING HOME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER CAR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE TURNED IT OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT. SHE DROVE HOME WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS WAS JUNE 1ST. IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIME THROUGH JUNE AND JULY AND WE HAD A COMPETENT MECHANIC CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AFTER THE CODE HE SCANNED SAID THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK CLOSED/STUCK OPEN. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DINNER WITH MY FAMILY ON AUGUST 3, WE MADE A TURN ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, CAR LOST POWER, AND WE WERE ESSENTIALLY DEAD IN THE WATER WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE COMING DOWN THE LANE HAPPENED TO SEE US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD THEY NOT BRAKED, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED. IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY ON THE INTERSTATE. NOT VERY CONFIDENCE INSPIRING TO TRAVEL AT 70MPH, THEN HAVE YOUR CAR NOT GO OVER 900 RPM. LOOK FOR A SHOULDER VERY QUICKLY. IN ALL INSTANCES, CAR GOES TO REDUCED ENGINE POWER (WHICH LIMITS IT TO 900 RPM). AT A STOP LIGHT, THE IDLE IS VERY ERRATIC GOING FROM 1000 RPM DOWN TO ABOUT 400. *TR
THE PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND THROTTLE BODY. MERGED ON TO HIGHWAY, ACCELERATED TO SPEED, SET CRUISE. A FEW SECONDS LATER, CRUISE DISENGAGED AND SPEED BEGAN DROPPING. WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. IT WAS IF THE CAR SHUT OFF BUT IT HADN'T. AFTER I CAME TO A STOP AND TRIED TO START MOVING AGAIN, THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN HAD NO RESPONSE AND I COULD ONLY MOVE AT THE SPEED THE CAR PULLED ITSELF AND IT SEEMED TO BE LURCHING FORWARD. I PULLED OVER AND THIS TIME SHUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE AND IT WORKED NORMALLY. THE NEXT DAY, SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER AGAIN, THIS TIME IN TOWN AT ABOUT 30MPH. MECHANIC TELLS ME IT'S A $468 REPAIR. I'M ONLY 6,000 MILES PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE PARTS ARE NATIONALLY OUT OF STOCK, WHICH IS A GOOD SIGN IT'S A KNOWN FORD DEFECT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL (THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, JUST NOT AS BAD) AND MY CAR STOPPED RESPONDING. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ON A REALLY BUSY ROAD, SO I HAD TO PRAY THAT I WOULD NOT GET HIT. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND TRIED TO RESTART IT, BUT IT DID NOT WANT TO RESTART. I SAT FOR A FEW SECONDS AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS (PROBABLY 6-8 TIMES) ON MY 12 MILE TRIP HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THIS MORNING AND FOUND OUT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. I JUST LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, AND THAT THE DEALERSHIPS (WHEN THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY) ACT LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WRONG. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! I DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY NOW, AND I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT MULTIPLE TIMES!!!! *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT 65 MPH AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES, THE CAR STALLED AND WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. RESTARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED DRIVING. WHILE APPROACHING INTERSECTION AT 25 MPH THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND PAID $114 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE CAR WASN'T SPITTING OUT ANY CODES. DEALER DRIVE IT ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING WITH FUSION CAR OWNERS AND THE THROTTLE BODY IS FIXING THE PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT RESULTS IN ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS. *TR
HAD STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN , ACCELERATED AND WOULD ONLY GO SLOW, GOT OFF ONTO ROADSIDE, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, RESTARTED, DID THE SAME THING, THREE TIMES UNTIL I COULD PULL IT COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF THE WAY, HAD TO GET TOWED HOME, SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY AND HAD TO GET TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT STILL SITS AFTER ONE WEEK, WAITING ON THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ROUGHLY 45 MPH VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN SHAKING AND DROPPED SPEED QUICKLY AND DRASTICALLY TO LESS THAN 15 MPH. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND BACK ON. CAR WOULD STILL RUN NO PROBLEMS UNDER 25. *TR
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND MY CAR LOST POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT LAMINATED. AFTER TRYING TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A MIN THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. THEN I PROCEEDED ON MY JOURNEY. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FRIEND OF MINE WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HAD HIM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE CAR AND NO CODES SHOW UP. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS DEFECTIVE PART. LOOKS LIKE FORD WOULD GROW A SET OF BALLS AND MAKE THIS A MANDATORY RECALL. IT DOES CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO MOVE YOUR AUTOMOBILE ABOUT. YOU CAN NOT GO ANY WEAR NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE DAM CAR DOES NOT MOVE. I GUESS IT WILL TAKE SOME ONE GETTING INJURED VERY BADLY OR KILLED, AND FORD GETTING A LAW SUITE BEFORE ANY SORT OF RECALL WILL BE DONE. IF ANYTHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO ME I WILL BE THE FIRST IN LINE TO FILE A LAW SUITE BECAUSE FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CHOSE TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT THUS PUTTING MILLIONS OF PEOPLES LIVES AT STAKE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,500. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE SET AT 75 MPH, MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER, AND I EXPERIENCED NO RESPONSE WHILE STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THOUGH THIS WAS VERY SCARY IN THE TRAFFIC I WAS IN, I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO COAST TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER (AFTER UPSETTING MANY DRIVERS AROUND ME) AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AFTER A MINUTE, I DECIDED TO SHUT OFF MY CAR, AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART, AND DRIVE AS NOTHING HAPPENED. UNFORTUNATELY, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION THE NEXT DAY, ONLY AT A LOWER SPEED (55 MPH), AND NOT WITH AS MUCH TRAFFIC. ON THE 3RD DAY, WHILE ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, FORD SAYS I EXPERIENCED A P2112 CODE, AND ALMOST 3 WEEKS LATER, FORD STILL HAS MY CAR BECAUSE THE PART (THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY) IS NOT AVAILABLE; COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

PARK -STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT ACTED NORMAL -TOOK IT IN TO FORD,THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A CODE RELATED TO THAT AND INSTRUCTED ME THAT THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS TO DRIVE DIRECTLY TO KENDALL FOR THEM TO READ THE ?CODE? OFF OF IT. JUNE 11, 2013 @ 7:30 PM: DRIVING FROM SPRINGFIELD TO 13THE STREET IN EUGENE. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL, BUT THEN WHEN I MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO 13TH STREET THEN ABOUT 1 BLOCKS LATER?THE ?THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION? INDICATOR LIT UP, THE CAR BECAME SILENT AND ALL POWER LEFT. -I PUT THE CARE IN ?P? PARK -STARTED THE ENGINE JUST LIKE YOU NORMALLY DO WHEN YOU GET INTO THE CAR. THE KEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS STUCK A LITTLE BIT BEFORE IT RETURNED TO THE NORMAL POSITION. JUNE 11, 2013 @ 8:15 PM: DRIVING FROM EUGENE TO SPRINGFIELD. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL.I TOOK THE ?CENTER CITY EXIT? IN SPRINGFIELD AND THE ?THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION? INDICATOR LIT UP, THE CAR BECAME SILENT AND ALL POWER LEFT. SO I DID A TEST?.. -I PUT THE CARE IN ?P? ??IT IDLED NORMAL AND SMOOTHLY -I PUT THE CARE IN ?R-N-D-M? ??THE IDLE SOUNDED SPOTTY LIKE IT WAS SKIPPING AND THEN IT SOUNDED WAVY. NOT SMOOTH AND EVEN LIKE IT DID IN ?P?. -STARTED THE ENGINE JUST LIKE YOU NORMALLY DO WHEN YOU GET INTO THE CAR. THE KEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS STUCK A LITTLE BIT BEFORE IT RETURNED TO THE NORMAL POSITION. -ON THE WAY HOME FROM SPRINGFIELD, AT RED LIGHTS THE CAR IDLED SPOTTY AND WAVY NOT SMOOTH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WHEN TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY. AN UNKNOWN REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH THE CRUISE SET AT 72. THE CAR ITSELF SHUT OFF THE CRUISE AND BEGAN IMMEDIATELY DE-ACCELERATING. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT - THE ENGINE REMAINED IN IDLE. THE WRENCH BAR INDICATOR LIT UP. I PULLED OFF THE SIDE (HUGE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC AROUND) AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN IN NEUTRAL. RESTARTED - SAME ISSUE - WOULD NOT ACCELERATE - IT WAS AS IF THE THROTTLE WAS DISCONNECTED. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT DOWN, WAITED 2 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED. ALL FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. RAN THE VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT TEST AND NO INDICATION WAS MADE OF AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND UPON RESTARTING, RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES ON THE THIRD VISIT; THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE COD E AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
MYSELF ALONG WITH MY THREE CHILDREN WERE TRAVELING ON I-45 FROM DALLAS TO HOUSTON. WHILE TRAVELING 75MPH, THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE POWER STEER ASSIST FAULT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. ONCE THE ALARM WENT OFF, I NO LONGER HAD POWER STEERING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE, AND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS DEPENDING OF THE DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
DRIVING 70 MPH ON ROAD HEADING HOME, CAR STALLED/NO POWER, GAUGES DIED, WAS IN RIGHT LANE AND ABLE TO PULL OFF TO RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING REAR ENDED. ONCE STOPPED, PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF KEY. WRENCH LIGHT ALSO SHOWED IN DASH BEFORE TURNED OFF. SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES WITH CAR OFF, THEN RESTARTED CAR. NO LIGHTS IN DASH WHEN RESTARTED, SO PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND TOOK OFF DOWN THE ROAD. DROVE SLOWLY WITHOUT GOING ABOVE 50 MPH, LIGHTS STAYED ON IN DASH AND MADE TO REPAIR FACILITY THAT WAS ABOUT 3 OR 4 MILES AWAY, DRIVING SLOWLY, NOT THE USUAL SPEED LIMIT FOR THE ROAD. REPAIR FACILITY READ THE CODE WHICH CAME UP THROTTLE BODY AND SUGGESTED CONTACTING THE FORD DEALER. WAITING FOR RETURN CALL FROM FORD SERVICE MANAGER AT THIS TIME. FOUND INVESTIGATION OPENED BY NHTSA IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR REGARDING FAULTY CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND WENT TO ACCELERATE AND HAD NO THROTTLE CONTROL THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. CAR IDLED THROUGH INTERSECTION AND ROLLED INTO GAS STATION. WHEN I THEN TURNED IT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS GONE. CAR SEEMED FINE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS, AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
ON FRIDAY EVENING (5/10/2013), I HAD JUST EXITED THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SUDDENLY APPEARED TO STALL (ENGINE WAS RUNNING, BUT HAD NO ACCELERATION). WITH TRAFFIC STACKING UP BEHIND ME, I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF. AFTER SITTING FOR A MINUTE OR TWO, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED DOWN THE ROAD. THE CAR DIED AGAIN LESS THAN TWO MILES LATER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE ON FOLLOWING MONDAY 5/13/2013 (AFTER SITTING ALL WEEKEND). THE DEALER CHECKED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD. AS OF TODAY, 5/26/2013, THE CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER WAITING ON A REPLACEMENT PART. *TR
EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55 MPH). WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER, AND SHIFTED TRANSMISSION TO PARK. STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL, BUT NO RESPONSE BY CAR. TURNED CAR OFF, WAITED 10-15 SECONDS, AND THEN RE-STARTED CAR, WITH THE RE-START TAKING 3 TO 5 SECONDS LONGER THAN NORMAL ON ENGINE TURN OVER. DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY, AND TOOK THE CAR INTO DEALER. REPLACED EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE, ($342 CHARGE, CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, BUT OUT OF WARRANTY ON MILEAGE) ON 6/14/2013. ON 7/7/2013 AND AGAIN ON 7/8, CAR AGAIN EXPERIENCED THE SAME SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. DROVE CAR TO DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ($318 REPAIR). *TR
ON MAY 9, AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE AND COMING OFF THE RAMP ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY, MY CAR HAD NO POWER WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, IT BEGAN TO JERK. I CUT IT OFF AND SAT THERE FOR A MINUTE. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT DIDN'T JERK ANYMORE, SO I DECIDED TO TRY AND DRIVE HOME. LUCKILY, I DID MAKE IT HOME (ONLY HAD @3 MILES TO GO). WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED THE NEXT DAY AND WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE RPMS WOULD GO UP AND THEN DOWN AND THE CAR CUT OFF. WHEN I WAS TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, IT WOULD SURGE WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. HAD THE CAR REPAIRED. INVOICE SAYS THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THIS IS APPARENTLY AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR AND FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IT'S DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
MY WIFE IN BUSY TRAFFIC AT RUSH HOUR FELT HER CAR BEGIN TO SHAKE BADLY, THEN LOSE POWER, SHE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NEARLY BEING HIT BY PASSING TRAFFIC. AT THE TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO FORD ON MAY 10TH, PICKED IT UP ON JUNE 10TH, ON JUNE 11TH THE SAME PROBLEM... THIS CAR IS AGAIN AT FORD DEALERSHIP WITH WHAT IS BEING CALLED A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. WE WERE SCHEDULED TO TRAVEL OVER 900 MILES EACH WAY AT THE END OF THIS MONTH AND HAVE CHOSEN AN ALTERNATIVE. WE'RE NOT EVEN SURE THAT WE'LL HAVE OUR VEHICLE BACK. WE ADDED 3 BOTTLES OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT DIDN'T SEEM TO FILL UP THE TANK NOR DID IT HELP THE POWER STEERING. PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED ENGINE. WARNING LIGHT OFF. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TWICE YESTERDAY AND ONCE TODAY SO FAR. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO CODE SHOWING ON THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. MECHANIC DROVE CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM. INSTRUCTED TO RETURN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP IF PROBLEM PERSISTED, WHICH I EXPECT IT WILL. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY SUSPECT A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM, BUT SINCE THE CODE DIDN'T SHOW ON THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THE CAR IS UNDER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY CANNOT REPLACE IT UNTIL IT DOES. *TR

WENT TO DEALER AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ANY HINTS WITHOUT HOOKING TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL. DECIDED TO THROW $200 AWAY ON NEW THROTTLE BODY. I NOTICED THE PART NUMBER HAS CHANGED A LITTLE FROM ORIGINAL. I CAN ONLY ASSUME TO INCORPORATE A FIX FOR THE MASSIVE AMOUNT THAT ARE FAILING. I HOPE IT WORKS. *TR

MANAGE TO PUT HAZZARD LIGHTS ON AND MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE FREEWAY SHOULDER WHERE THE CAR AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES TRYING AND WAITING STARTED AGAIN AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON AND SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP UP AFTER THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED. THE CAR THEN WAS MAKING SOUNDS IN THE ENGINE BAY AND MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION COUPLE FEET AWAY AND THE CAR DIED AGAIN AFTER TURNING IT OFF TO REFUEL ONCE AGAIN HAD TO GET THE CAR JUMP STARTED. I PURCHASED A OBD II SCANNER AND CHECKED FOR ANY STORED CODES, NO CODES WERE FOUND. I CONTINUED TO MONITOR MY VEHICLE VIA THE OBD II SCAN TOOL AND NO CODES WERE RECORDED. SECOND INCIDENT 6/13/13: WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH EASTBOUND IN THE NUMBER 1 LANE ON INTERSTATE 10 MY 2011 FORD FUSION ONCE AGAIN VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANY CHANGE IN THROTTLE POSITION VIA THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IN MY ATTEMPT TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER I WAS NEARLY INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY I PLUGGED IN THE OBD II SCAN TOOL AND IT CAPTURED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM ' STUCK OPEN. MY VEHICLE WOULD ONLY IDLE VERY ROUGHLY. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HOME IN THIS MODE. HOWEVER, AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES THE ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY AND I REQUIRED A TOW TO MY RESIDENCE. WHILE WAITING ON THE TOW VEHICLE I RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT FORD HAS ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 09-23-5 ADDRESSING THIS DEFECT FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER OCTOBER 15, 2009. THIS DEFECT WILL UNFORTUNATELY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF LIFE IF THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT RECALLED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE THEN CONTINUED ACCELERATING UNTIL THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 06/07/13*LJ
EVERY TIME THE CAR REACHES 45 MPH, THERE IS A RINGING WHICH SOUNDS JUST LIKE A TELEPHONE RING. IT IS LOUD ENOUGH THAT EVEN PASSENGERS CAN HEAR IT. THE ONLY TIME IT HAPPENS IS AT 45 MPH, AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THAT SPEED IS MET. *TT WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND WE ARE ALWAYS TOLD "NOTHING HAS REGISTERED ON THE COMPUTER, AND UNLESS IT REGISTERS ON THE COMPUTER, WE CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM". NOW, THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND BOTH TIMES IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS IN WARRANTY. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR DIRECTLY AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE AND DIRECTED ME HERE TO REGISTER THE COMPLAINT.
