At 75,000 miles the rack and pinion was replaced under recall. Exactly 75,000 miles later the rack and pinion has failed completely, the car is dead in the water and having to replace the defective part now on our own. The car is completely immobile there was heavy clunky noises prior to the failure now the steering wheel will not turn. Very disappointing that a recalled item would fail exactly at the exact same time as the original
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist with the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure and no error codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 97,892.
Blower motor resistor wiring he's up to a point where the wire melts could cause a fire the wire is crispy burnt had it replaced and had you have it replaced the next 2 years cuz it does the same every year
I recently completed a car diagnostic and there were no reports of steering concerns. I was driving my son so summer camp and as I was trying to exit, my wheel locked and I had to use crazy force to get off the hwy exit and to avoid hitting the median. I had no warning lights in the car prior, but recived a message times after I would force the wheel "power steering assist failure".
On several occasions my teenage daughter has had her life put in danger by this mfg defect when the Ford Fusion suddenly flashes a red wrench warning sign and decelerates to a snail’s crawl in the middle of an interstate highway. This happens frequently on hotter days when the car has been run for over an hour. It is unacceptable, dangerous and sad that there’s been no required safety recall by Ford to fix this problem. A simple search online shows this to be happening repeatedly.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start-up. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact made the dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.
Tucson, Arizona. The incident occurred on about June 10, 2022 around 10:00 a.m. The steering failed just after the car was started by the owner, the dash light "power steering assist fault"turned on and the car was nearly impossible to steer. The car was driven approximately 2 miles straight ahead and parked at home. The car was towed the next day to the AAA service center at 7060 Speedway, Tucson, AZ 85710. The owner researched recalls related to steering on the 2011 Ford Fusion; it seems NHTSA Campaign 15v340000/Ford Recall 15s18/393,623 vehicles affected by 06.23.2015. Steering complaints continue to roll in for the 2011 Ford Fusion, yet, the recall has not been extended. Steering issues appear be the same or similar to those issues covered by the previous recall. I wonder why NHTSA has not extended the recall.
Advance Trac light abs traction control light came on next thing I know car goes out of control and now my car is totaled total loss smashed right into side of the road brakes failed steering failed and all this popped up moments before and then q truck ran into me my mom went to hospital but is ok I'm fine

THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS AND IS EXTREMELY DANGERS AS IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE!!!! I CHECKED WITH FORD COMPANY AND FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL!!! I INVESTIGATED MYSELF ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE RECALLS ON ABS SYSTEM TO FIX FROM 2001-2010 BUT STOPPED AFTER THAT!!!! I BOUGHT A ABS TESTER AND OPERATED THE ABS CHECK MYSELF AND THE MASTER CYLINDER PUMPS UP, BUT AFTER THE TEST THE BRAKE GO RIGHT BACK DOWN!!!!!!

The dealer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I have a 2011 Ford Fusion. There was a recall 15S18 which was a recall on the Electric Power Steering Assist. Where the vehicle may lose power steering. It claims extra effort may be required at lower speeds. It doesn't matter the speed, if this system goes out, it is extremely difficult to steer. It was replaced in my vehicle in 2015, before I owned it. Then the recall 15N01 came out, which was an extended warranty of the Electric Power Steering Assist. I purchased the vehicle and the Electric Power Steering Assist failed and was replaced in 8/2020. Now less than 2 years later the Electric Power Steering Assist has failed again and Ford refuses to warranty a part that they provided and installed. If I had purchased the part myself, it would have had a 2 year warranty. But it was provided and installed by Ford. This system failure is an extreme hazard. The vehicle becomes almost impossible to drive. It feels like Ford never resolved the initial problem that led to the first recall of the Electric Power Steering Assist.
On several occasions, when starting the car, an alert is displayed on the instrument panel that says "Power Steering Assist Fault", and the power steering system is inoperative. After restarting the car, the message usually goes away and the power steering is fully operational. There is already a safety recall for what seems to be a similar issue. That recall campaign number is 15V340000. For some reason, this car is not yet included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road and crashed into a ditch. During the crash, the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged causing both the driver side and passenger side airbags to deploy. The contact indicated that the airbags did not immediately deploy and both occupants had sustained concussions when the driver made contact with the steering wheel and the passenger made contact with the dashboard. The driver also sustained a right leg injury. Both received medical attention where mediation was provided. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 200,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the electric power steering assist had become inoperable. The power steering assist fault warning message had appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who referred her to the manufacturer. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 207,000.
my Steering not working
My sister in-law was driving her 2011 Fusion and when pulling into a parking spot had no power steering. She has two kids that were with her and she could not turn the steering wheel. Luckily this happened as she was parking as we thank God it did not happen 3 minutes earlier on the interstate and God only knows what would have happened. The warning message came up and said steering assist fault so we know it has an issue now. The vehicle is headed to a trusted friends shop since Ford shows no recalls for this on this car. The idea that so many people are having this same issue and Ford is doing nothing about it is alarming. Is it going to take lives being lost before Ford wakes up and takes care of a known issue?
on January 14th 2021 I brought this car in to address the power steering(15S18), airbags, and Fuel Tank and Canister Purge Valve recall (15S34). The dealer reprogrammed the PSCM at no charge, inspected the Fuel Tank and Canister Purge Valve and replaced the passenger side airbag...we did not realize the didn't do the driver side airbag at that time. The vehicle had 172k miles on it at this time. on April 25th the driver assist power steering failed so I brought the car in again on April 27th. The car now has 200k mile on it and they want to charge $3400 to replace the rack and pinion. They indicate the vehicle is reporting the u3000 error codes which are related to the 15S18 recall. Shouldn't they honor the recall since the issue is related to the recall? Also, I feel like they did not address the recall during the first visit and this potentially put my family at risk driving the car with the possibility of the power steering failing.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. No warning light was illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the power steering needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in Customer Satisfaction Program: 15N01 (EPS Steering); however, the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
While driving down the highway, vehicles braked suddenly. While slamming on breaks the electric power steering went out resulting in a near high speed collision. At the same time as the power steering being lost, the Advancetrac light illuminated on the instrument cluster as well as a message stating "power steering assist fault". Upon returning home and searching the vin in ford website there is a "customer satisfaction program" for the electric power steering efforts. Upon contacting the local dealership service department it was stated by them that the program had expired. Ford HQ was also contacted who stated the same and that all repairs would not be covered. If Ford knows this was an issue, then customers should have been made aware of the program. Notifications should have sent out as failure to notify has left faulty cars on the road and puts millions of drivers and passengers in the car and in surrounding cars, businesses, and public at risk every day. Customer program should also be a recall so notifications are mandatory. Near death experience should not be how people become informed of the issue.
A loss of power steering assist code. Car hard to steer. Definite safety risk. Not yet taken to dealer. Is recall 15V340000 but have not received a notice that it pertains to my vehicle.
Advancetrac light started turning on, then about the 3rd time the light flashed electric brakes went away and was left with extremely hard to press hydraulic brakes. Just to SCAN the car ford wants $200 because they have a proprietary system...
My 2011 Ford Fusion SE is experiencing a brake system failure similar to the one noted in NHTSA Recall 19V-904. The recall pursuant to NHTSA Recall 19V-904 only applies to model years up to 2010. I contend the brake system failure continues to be prevalent but Ford is refusing to acknowledge the failure as applicable to the recall simply due to the model year. No warning indicator appeared.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that unknown dealers were contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.
I was driving my car and the power steering failed. It was difficult to steer. Sometimes the power steering would work and sometimes it would not.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 10 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with code U300 - Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) failure. The mechanic related the failure to an unknown recall and informed the contact that the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, but the dealer informed the contact that he needed to pay out-of-pocket for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000. The error code that qualifies the vehicle for this recall repair, and evidence from Ford.com saying that safety recalls do not expire.
Brake peddle goes to the floor without any warning near accident. Replaced master cylinder and fluid. Continues still.
In the middle of driving, my car popped up two alerts: "service advancetrac" and "service power steering". Nothing else occurred, and I got to my destination and turned the car off. When leaving again, I turned the car on, and the power steering didn't work. The warnings were still present. While driving, turning the steering wheel was very difficult, much more difficult than older cars with manual steering. At slow speeds, I felt it was dangerous to drive as I couldn't guarantee my ability to turn properly.
EPAS has gone out AGAIN! EPAS was repaired in 2016 before I bought my Ford Fusion Hybrid, was replaced in 2019 under dealer warranty, and as soon as I have a tune up and front end alignment done two days later while I’m driving EPAS goes out again. Almost $3000 is what it costs to fix this faulty part and I should not have to keep fixing it after repairs are made. Now I’m being told that it will not be fixed under CSP because it’s already been fixed by the original owner and I am not the original owner. I’m very upset and my car is just sitting there with 6K left to pay on it! I don’t have the money to fix this vehicle for a 3rd time.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH on a bumpy road, the brake pedal was depressed while making a turn however, the brake pedal traveled to the floor. The contact stated that the vehicle stop time was increased and the failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was not able to diagnose a failure cause but flushed the brake lines. The vehicle was able to operate for several months without a failure until the contact was driving over a speed bump. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who stated that he received a failure code for the ABS system. The mechanic stated that the hydraulic control unit pump or ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she researched the online and found NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, neither the year, make, nor model was included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,000.
The power steering system faulted on multiple occasions while the vehicle was in motion. This made the vehicle hard to control while driving. The dealer confirmed a fault in the power steering system. The dealer inspected the car for repairs. The first two times the power steering faulted, there was no warning light or sound. The third time it faulted there was a warning light and sound.
Transmission slipping, lurching, hard shift, jerking while driving. No prior lamp warnings or other symptoms. Break pedal when applied or released after acceleration or just before a complete stop vehicle makes a pin ball bouncing sound then when acceleration repeated transmission issues. This has put my saftey at risk as well as my passengers because of the sudden slipping, lurching, hard shift, jerking while driving. Trying to understand problem I came across a ongoing investigation regarding ford and knowingly using faulty transmission in a multitude of there vehicles in which mine is exhibiting exactly same behaviors.
PURGE VALVE FAILURE, FORD CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE THE PART WHEN REQUESTED. (CHINO HILLS FORD) SAFTEY WAS PUT A RISK BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL OF A 2011 FORD FUSION THIS FAILURE COULD CAUSE PRESSURE CHANGES AND MAY CAUSE THE TANK TO CRACK AND LEAK FUEL. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCES INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE. YES THE PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED BY A FORD DEALER IN CHINO HILLS YES IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY FORD AND RESULTED IN A FAILED EVAP PURGE VALVE TEST AND CALLED FOR REPLACEMENT YES THE PROBLEM CAUSED A P0456 CODES WHICH INDICATED A SMALL LEAK IN THE EVAP SYSTEM.
Power steering does not work all the time. When the power steering goes out it is very hard to turn the steering wheel.I took it to the dealership where I bought the car brand new in 2011,the dealership was aware of this known problem (safety recall 15S18) but said that the recall was only good for 10years or 100,000 miles. This is a safety problem, and when this power steering goes out my wife and sister can’t turn the steering wheel. They refuse to drive the fusion till it gets fixed. To fix this problem the dealership said the part will cost 1514.64. And the labor is about 1400.00. Yes almost 3,000.00 to fix a problem that Ford knows about. There is a lot of Ford fusions out.there with this problem! Please help us make Ford accountable for this problem
The power steering assist failed when I started my car. I can started my car, but there is no power steering.

Was driving about 50 miles per hour and lost my power steering. Almost hit the car beside me my power steering assist fault and service advancetrac lights are on. Ford had a recall on this issue.
2011 FORD FUSION. WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND EVERY TIME I MAKE A TURN THE CAR CLUNKS. TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE AUTO SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. HE DIAGNOSED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ASSEMBLY STEERING SYSTEM. HE ADVISED US IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. MY MOM HAS A 2012 FORD FUSION WITH POWER ASSIST PROBLEM AND HAD TO PAY OVER $2,000 TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE FORD DIDN'T SHOW IT AS ONE OF THE THOUSANDS OF CARS THAT WERE RECALLED. After some further research, there is a NHTSA recall number on this problem. It is 15V340000. The Ford Recall Number is 15S18.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 46 MPH, the steering wheel locked while making a left turn. The contact instead turned right and the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with power steering failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at slower speeds, an abnormal jolt emitted from the vehicle as the vehicle began shaking without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home and upon arrival, her husband informed her that the rear passenger’s and driver’s side wheel hubs had separated from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V574000 (Wheels) which she linked to the failure. The contact then called the dealer where she was informed that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact also attempted to contact the manufacturer but did not receive a response. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,400.
My husband and I were driving down the road and the steering went out. We almost had an accident but given my husband's superior driving skills we were able to avoid a collison. After the steering went out we immediately had two warning lights show up on our instrument panel. One said Stabilitrak Control and power steering light. We took this vehicle in for service and the mechanic said it would be $2800 to repair the rack and pinion. The codes this vehicle displayed are exactly the same codes that are part of the recall of the 2011 ford fusions. No other issues with the car at the time of incident.
I was driving home from school and all of a sudden I couldn’t turn the wheel. I didn’t know what was happening I called my grandmother terrified. She told me to go home and turn the wheel really hard to get it in the parking lot and park. I had the car towed to fire dealer. They said I need a steering assembly. My car was not on the recall list and the warranty was out 3 months. The cost would be $2,300. This is a safety issue and it’s the same issue as the 2011 Ford Fusion’s that were recalled. I want to upload the billing and need my vin added for the cost to be covered for repair. I thank you in advance for your assistance. Yr cars are junk on certain models recalls never knew they better be getting fix for free. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The power steering assist fault warning came on and I lost power steering a few minutes later the advance traction control light came on. It is my understanding that there is a recall out on the power steering assist unit.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 47 MPH, the steering wheel locked up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the steering control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. Braking on icy roads engaged the anti-lock braking. Immediately afterwards normal braking was affected with an increased travel in the brake pedal, down to the floor. This is the same behavior resulting in the recall of 2006-2010 Ford Fusions. My Ford Fusion is 2011 and not covered. I believe my ABS unit has the same sticking valve issue. I resolved the immediate problem by forcing the anti-lock brakes to engage 4-5 times on an icy road. The brakes are now currently back to normal operation. This is the exact same issue reported in the recall but excluded by Ford based on the model year of my 2011 Ford Fusion.
