I AM THE ADULT CO-OWNER OF 2014 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE DASHBOARD AIRBAG LIGHT IS LIT INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS OFF WHEN I OCCUPY THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE AIR BAG IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND IS DESIGNED TO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SEAT BELT. THEREFORE, FORD IS TELLING ME I MUST LEARN TO LIVE WITH THIS HAZARD. I UNDERSTAND A DISABLED AIRBAG IS INTENDED TO PROTECT CHILDREN. I AM NOT A CHILD! I AM THE ADULT, CO-OWNER AND CO-DRIVER OF THE CAR. I WEIGH 90 LBS AND AM 5'1'. I AM IN JEOPARDY BECAUSE THIS CAR DOES NOT OFFER ME THE FULL PROTECTION OF THE CURRENT PASSENGER SEAT BELT/ AIR BAG COMBINATION. NHTSA WARNS, IN PART E OF ITS FORM REQUEST FOR AIR BAG ON-OFF SWITCH', THAT THE SEATBELT OPERATING WITHOUT THE AIRBAG, CAN ALLOW ME TO HIT THE DASHBOARD OR THE WINDSHIELD. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE FORD OWNER''S MANUAL SUGGESTS I SIT IN THE REAR SEAT. I HAVE OPTIMUM PROTECTION WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR. THIS 2014 FORD FUSION HYBRID DENIES ME, AS A SMALL STATURE ADULT, FULL AIRBAG SEATBELT PROTECTION WHILE OFFERING FULL AIRBAG SEAT BELT PROTECTION TO LARGER ADULTS. THIS GAP IN PROTECTION INCREASES MY RISK OF INJURY AND IS CONTRARY TO NHTSA'S MISSION STATEMENT OF 'PREVENTING INJURIES'. I AM NOT AS SAFE AS I SHOULD BE IN THIS CAR. I CONTACTED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY REGARDING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP'S OWNER PROMISED ME THAT A FORD ENGINEER WOULD LOOK AT THE CAR. TO DATE I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS REPRESENTATIVE THIS IS AN URGENT SAFETY MATTER. I REQUEST THE NHTSA TO DIRECT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO FIX THIS AIRBAG SAFETY FAILURE MAKING ME AS SAFE AS OTHER ADULT PASSENGERS. *TR
THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. I AM EXPERIENCING FRONT END VIBRATION, MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY, AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SOME INCREASE WHEN TURNING AND MORE WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I WOULD DESCRIBE IT AS A TACTILE BUT NON-AUDIBLE "RUMBLE". I HAVE NOT FELT LIKE THE STEERING WILL GO OUT OF CONTROL BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE STEERING STABILITY AND POSSIBLE SUSPENSION PROBLEM LEADING TO LACK OF CONTROL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, I TURNED MY WIPERS ON DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, THE WIPERS STOPPED. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING WITH ONLY 1000 MILES. SERVICE ADVISER HAD THE WINDSHIELD MOTOR REPLACED (AFTER PUTTING ONLY 1000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE). AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK, THE WIPERS SQUEAKED AWFUL DURING THE NEXT RAIN FALL. TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE WIPERS. UNLESS IT IS RAINING STEADILY, THE WIPERS SQUEAK IF IT IS JUST DRIZZLING. NOT AS BAD, BUT THEY CONTINUE. *TR
WIPER SPEED IS TERRIBLE! THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FROM THE FIRST TIME IT RAINED AFTER PURCHASE. THE HIGHEST SPEED IS TOO SLOW. REGARDLESS IF I AM DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED OR LOW SPEED, THE WIPERS DO NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD FAST ENOUGH, RESULTING IN EXTREMELY POOR VISIBILITY. A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE I REPLACED THE WIPERS WITH EXPENSIVE BLADES. NO LUCK. HAVE USED RAIN-X MANY TIMES. NO LUCK. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SPEED OF THE WIPER ARM. HOPEFULLY THIS IS RECALLED SOON BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I MYSELF HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN IN AMAN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. NOW I ACTUALLY PULL OFF THE ROAD AND STOP DRIVING, EVEN IN MODERATE RAIN FALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE IT SURGED FORWARD ACROSS THE PARKING MEDIUM AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29. UPDATED 01/07/2014*LJ UPDATED 1/14/2014 *JS
BOUGHT A NEW 2014 FORD FUSION IN OCTOBER. WHEN FUEL TANK IS FULL, THERE IS A LOUD AND DISTINCT NOISE ORIGINATING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR WHICH APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK. INITIAL INSPECTION BY FORD FAILED TO DETERMINE THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AS THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE NOISE. DRIVING THE CAR FOR SEVERAL WEEKS LED ME TO DETERMINE THAT THE NOISE WAS PRESENT ONLY WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS AT LEAST 5/8S FULL. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO FORD TWICE, BOTH TIMES WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. TWO DIFFERENT SERVICE MANAGERS TELL ME THE NOISE IS "NORMAL" BUT THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT IT. I'VE ESCALATED MY CONCERNS TO FORD'S CORPORATE OFFICES ON AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE NEVER ONCE RETURNED MY CALLS OR RESPONDED TO MY WRITTEN INQUIRIES. NOISES FROM THE FUEL TANK ARE, NATURALLY CONCERNING AND DISCONCERTING. MY FRIENDS JUST BOUGHT THE SAME CAR AND THEY HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE SAME NOISE SO I BELIEVE THAT THEY KNOW A PROBLEM EXISTS AND CORRECTED IT, BUT ONLY PROSPECTIVELY. *TR
1. BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON (AT DIFFERENT TIMES) WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. 2. WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE DURING STARTING, THE CRANKING TIME TAKES ABOUT 4-5 SECONDS. THE EXTENDED CRANK TIME CONCERNS ME WITH RESPECT TO THE LONGEVITY OF THE STARTER AND BATTERY WEAR. 3. THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING UPHILL. WHAT'S EVEN MORE UPSETTING (CONSIDERING THE VERY LOW MILEAGE AN THE ISSUE HAPPENING ONLY 3 WEEKS INTO OWNERSHIP) IS THE FACT I'VE HAD THE CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES AND EVERY TIME I'M TOLD THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE PICTURES TAKEN WITH MY CELL PHONE OF THE CHECK ENGINE AND AIRBAG LIGHTS ON AND I'M STILL NOT GETTING ANY HELP OR CONSIDERATION. THIS IS VERY, VERY FRUSTRATING!! *TR
