TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE POWER STEERING BECAME LOOSE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ACCESS FORD LINCOLN OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 3680 US-77, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX 78410) AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AT 866-631-3788 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. CASE NUMBER: 13530119 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN MY ACCIDENT. FRONT END DAMAGE DOING ABOUT 27 MPH INTO A SIDE OF A MINI-VAN GOING ABOUT 35-40 RIGHT THROUGH A YIELD SIGN. THE DRIVER IN THE MINI-VAN DISREGARDED THE YIELD SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD POSTED 25 MPH AND HE WAS DOING AT LEAST 35-40. I HAD THE RIGHT-AWAY AND WAS DOING ABOUT 27 WHEN I SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS AT THE VERY LAST SECOND. HIS AIR-BAGS DID DEPLOY IS HIS VEHICLE AND MINE DID NOT. I WOULD PLEASE LIKE MY VEHICLE CHECKED OUT TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY.
AUTO HEADLIGHTS DELAY SETTING IN FORD FUSION. I TOOK A RENTAL CAR AND ENSURED THE LIGHTS WERE SET TO AUTOMATIC. THERE IS A HIDDEN FEATURE IN FORD FUSION WHERE WE CAN SET A DELAY FOR THE LIGHTS TO TURN ON. I ENTERED A TUNNEL WHICH IS COMPLETELY DARK AND NO LIGHTS WERE THERE INSIDE THE TUNNEL. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING AS THE LIGHTS DIDN'T TURNED ON. I FORTUNATELY MET WITH A SMALL INCIDENT BUT THIS HIDDEN FEATURE DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I DROVE OTHER VEHICLES WHERE IN AUTOMATIC LIGHTS SWITCH ON IMMEDIATELY. I AM UNAWARE OF THIS SETTING AS I DON'T OWN THIS CAR. PLEASE ENSURE MANUFACTURER DISABLES THIS SETTING AND THEY ENSURE SAFETY OF FORD USERS. THE RENTAL COMPANY DECLINED TO ACCEPT IT AS THEIR FAULT BUT I WANT SOMEONE LIKE NHTSA CONTACT RENTAL CAR COMPANIES TO DISABLE THESE SETTINGS AND ALSO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND UNDERSTAND THE BENEFIT OF THIS SETTING. AS PER ME IT IS A RISKY SETTING WITHOUT MUCH POSITIVE BENEFITS. I WANT TO ENSURE SAFETY OF OTHER FORD USERS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND, THE WRENCH ICON AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. RICHMOND FORD LINCOLN (4600 W BROAD ST, RICHMOND, VA 23230, (804) 358-5521) WAS NOTIFIED SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE LAST TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED, AN OFF DUTY OFFICER HAD TO ASSIST WITH MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD WITH A DISABLED PASSENGER AND CHILD PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE CRUISING AROUND 70 MPH ON FREEWAY. DASHBOARD DISPLAYED A WRENCH ICON AND INSTRUCTIONS TO "REFER TO MANUAL". ALL DISPLAYS, CLIMATE CONTROL, AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM STILL FUNCTIONAL. VEHICLE HAD MINIMAL ENGINE POWER, NOT ENOUGH TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN FREEWAY SPEED BUT ENOUGH TO EXIT FREEWAY AND PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT. TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING AFTER FIVE MINUTES RESTORED ALL NORMAL FUNCTION, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. CAR FUNCTIONED NORMALLY (ASIDE FROM CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) THE NEXT DAY AND WAS DRIVEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSIS. DIAGNOSIS WAS A BROKEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, DESCRIBED AS A "KNOWN ISSUE", WHICH WAS REPLACED.
WAS DRIVING DOWN HE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST STARTED DECELERATING ON ITS OWN DOWN TO 30 MPH. THE "CHECK MANUAL" INDICATOR CAME ON, ALONG WITH A PICTURE OF THE ENGINE AND A WRENCH. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. THIS TIME THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY. I COULDN'T EVEN MOVE 30 FEET. HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SIDE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE MY 2016 FUSION WITH ON 8000 MILES ON SHUT DOWN LIKE I WAS OUT OF GAS. ALL MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON TELLING ME TO CHECK MANUAL AND MY CHECK ENGINE. WAS ABLE TO GET OVER SOME ONE TO PUT MY CAR ON A MACHINE TO TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. AN ERROR CODE OF P2111 CAME UP SAYING MY THROTTLE WAS OPEN. NEW CAR I'M THE ONLY OWNER I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS. AS I'M LOOKING UP INFORMATION ABOUT THE THROTTLE I CAN SEE THEY'VE HAD RECALLS ON THIS PART BEFORE. MY AIR BAG LIGHT IN EVERYTHING CAME ON SEAT BELT UNLOCKED. *TR
06/13/2017 - VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED IN HIGH TRAFFIC SITUATION WHEN EXITING HIGHWAY 101 IN LOS ANGELES. "CHECK POWERTRAIN" WARNING AND WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO SAFE DRIVING SPEED EVEN WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WENT INTO "LIMP MODE". WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE TO NEARBY FORD DEALER. SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMPLY FAILED. FORD REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) PER TSB. NO PRIOR NOTICE OR WARNING FROM FORD WAS EVER PROVIDED THAT THIS IS A COMMON, AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, AND SERVICING FORD DEALER MADE NO COMMENT TO THAT FACT AS WELL.
AFTER "SERVICE ADVANCED TRAC" WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD, SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DROPS ON HIGHWAY. EVEN THOUGH ACCELERATOR IS FLOORED, SPEED KEEPS DROPPING. EXPERIENCED TWICE THIS MORNING AND YESTERDAY ON FREEWAY.
REAR BRAKES ARE BEGINNING TO WEAR. I AM TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACE. HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEARLY A YEAR OLD. PLEASE EXPLAIN.
DRIVING 25 MPH DOWN SIDE STREET, WHEN CAR LOST POWER AND ALMOST STALLED. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WENT ON, AND ENGINE CUT OUT. RESTARTED CAR AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF ROAD. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR RESTARTED, LUCKILY WAS ONLY 1/2 MILE FROM HOME. CAR DIES AGAIN IN DRIVEWAY. CALLED FORD TO HAVE THEM PICK IT UP, WHICH THEY DID. SERVICE THOUGHT IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. PICKED UP CAR NEXT DAY AND IT WAS THROTTLE BODY, WHICH THEY REPLACED. FORD SERVICE KNEW OF PROBLEM, BUT I HAD RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION OF PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. I AM LUCK I WASN'T GOING 70 ON FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE, IT STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT IN THE DIRECTION OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY PULL TO THE LEFT. THE DEALER (CROSSROADS FORD LINCOLN IN SOUTHERN PINES, NC 28387) REALIGNED THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,200.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE WAY TO SLOW WHEN DRIVING IN A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF RAIN. I HAVE TRIED TURNING THEM INTO THE HIGHEST FREQUENCY. IT IS SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE RODE AND STOP TO WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO STOP. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. IT IS VERY HAZARDOUS AND I REALLY WISH THIS ISSUE CAN BE FIXED. IT FEELS VERY HAZARDOUS
WHILE DRIVING TODAY, I SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY, AND THEN THE POWER WENT OUT. I BEGAN TO SMELL SMOKE, AND I ALMOST HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I COULDN'T CONTROL MY CAR! ONCE I FINALLY CAME TO A STOP, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND PULL OVER TO A SAFER AREA-- BUT THE SMOKE REMAINED. I BELIEVE THE THROTTLE BODY IS MALFUNCTIONING, WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE ON AN ALMOST-NEW CAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON I75 IN FLORIDA THE CAR LOST POWER 3 TIMES. JUST MISSED CAUSING BAD ACCIDENTS. DEALER CLAIMS IT WAS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BLOCK FAILURES. LOOKING ON LINE THOUSANDS OF FUSION OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS SINCE 2006 YET FORD HAS NEVER BEEN FORCED TO HAVE A RECALL.
THE ETB (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY) HAS FAILED TWICE. ONCE CAUSING COMPLETE MECHANICAL FAILURE, THE OTHER CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE. I'VE READ THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR REPORTS ABOUT 2013-2016 FUSIONS DOING THE SAME THING. THIS HASN'T COSTED ME ANY MONEY BUT IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, FOR THE CAR WONT MOVE OVER 8 MPH SUDDENLY.
THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IM INSIDE. YOU CAN EASILY OPEN THE DOOR AFTER YOU LOCK IT FROM THE INSIDE. MY CHILDREN CAN OPEN IT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THEY WILL NOT LOCK AT ALL. JUST ON THE OUTSIDE. THE FRONT DOORS AND BACK DOORS YOU CAN PULL THE HANDLE AND OPEN THE DOOR BECOMES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE I SEE NO RECALL ON MY MODEL I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP. ITS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
UPON DEPLOYMENT THE AIRBAG COVER SPILT DOWN THE MIDDLE AND DID NOT FULLY DEPLOY DURING IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS CUT OFF AND THE OTHER VEHICLE CAME TO A FULL HARD STOP IN FRONT OF ME, DESPITE APPLYING MAXIMUM BREAKING FORCE, I HAD NO DISTANCE TO STOP AND REAR ENDED THE OTHER VEHICLE.
I HAVE NOTED, WHEN PASSING NEWER FORD FUSIONS DURING NON-DAYLIGHT HOURS, THAT THE HEADLIGHTS PROJECT BRIGHTLY OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE LENS AND SLIGHTLY BACKWARD, TO THE POINT OF BEING DISTRACTING AND CAUSING ME TO WINCE. I HAVE NOT NOTED THIS TO OCCUR WHEN PASSING ANY OTHER VEHICLES BUT HAVE NOTICED IT WHEN PASSING SEVERAL NEWER FORD FUSIONS. IT APPEARS THAT THE LIGHT EMISSION PATTERN FOR THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES IS THE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR.
One expects more of a company with your fine reputation and long history. Therefore, I feel sure you will know how to solve my car problem. Since May 9, 2017, I have taken my 2016 Ford Fusion to Ford Dealerships to repair the “Park Brake Malfunction Light, Service Now!” on my car. Whereas, today, it’s still not fixed. Background On November 17, 2015, I went to purchase an extended warranty, for my 2011 Ford Fusion. However, the Finance Manager at Randall Reed’s Park Cities Ford gave me the option to buy a new car. Unlike most car customers, I did not have the opportunity to select a vehicle from the car fleet or showroom floor. He, himself selected the new 2016 Ford Fusion vehicle with approximately 18 miles and prepared the paper work for my signature. Facts I have taken my car to the Ford Dealerships 18 times to have the “Park Brake Malfunction Light” fixed. Again, on March 6, 2023, the same problem keeps reoccurring. Every time the Park Brake Malfunction Light comes on there are two more lights from the Brake Systems that appears. After repeated repairs visits, this problem is still on going. As a value Ford customer, I should not have to consistently deal with this car problem on a monthly basis. As of yesterday April 10,2023, the light came back on. Here are the Facts. Below is a listing of the dates of repairs (see attached Invoices) 1. May 9, 2017 2. February 1, 2018 3. March 26, 2018 4. May 10, 2018 5. June 18, 2018 6. September 6, 2018 7. December 17, 2019 8. April 22, 2019 9. May 17, 2019 ( pickup car and returned) 10. August 23, 2019 11. September 16, 2019 12. August 31, 2020 13. September 23, 2020 ( in the shop now) 14. June 10,2021 15. August 23,2021 16. February 25,2022 17. December 7,2022 18. March 6,2023
I RAN INTO A BIRD ON THE ROAD. IT CAUSED THE GRILL AND PIECES TO BREAK NEXT TO THE RADIATOR TO BREAK. IT IS GOING TO COST A FORTUNE. IF I HAD MY OLD CAR NO DAMAGE WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. FORD BUILT THEM SO CHEAP IT CAUSED A BUNCH OF DAMAGE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVEN SAID IT WAS NOT SOLID. IT IS DEFECTIVE. FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUILDING THE CAR DEFECTIVELY THAT IT WOULD BE TOTALED BY A BIRD.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE NEAR POWER AND PHONE LINES WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO STEP HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR STOPPED AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 2 FEET. THE FORD DEALER CHECKED CODES, ETC. AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I HAD PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED A RECALL FROM FORD AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HAD BEEN REPLACED ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. I FEEL THAT ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE HAS CAUSED THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE THERE IS NO SHIELDING FOR THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE ABOUT 8400 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE.
MY CAR BARELY PICKS UP SPEEDS I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR IT TO CATCH SPEED. MY RADIO ONLY WORKS ON ONE STATION OTHER STATION GIVES OUT LOTS OF STACKED
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT KEEPS LOCKING UP AND WILL NOT LET YOU USE THE SEAT BELT, IT WILL WORK A DAY OR TWO THEN YOU WILL GO A FEW DAYS WITH IT NOT LETTING YOU USE THE SEAT BELT BECAUSE IT WILL NOT COME OUT.
SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE DRIVING (VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM AROUND 35MPH TO 70MPH) THE "ENGINE" STALLED (I PUT 'ENGINE' IN QUOTES BECAUSE THIS IS A HYBRID SO "ENGINE", FOR ME, IS AN ANALOGUE FOR WHATEVER WAS PROPELLING THE CAR, AT THE TIME). THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I DIDN'T NOTICE AT FIRST (BEING A HYBRID, THE ENGINE TURNING OFF IS STATUS-QUO). IT WASN'T UNTIL I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND FELT NO ACCELERATION THAT I HAD A CLUE SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THEN I NOTICED THE "YOUR CAR IS NOT IN PARK" [PARAPHRASE] MESSAGE ON THE DASH-DISPLAY. "WELL, I HOPE SO, SINCE I'M CAREENING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH (ESTIMATE)!" IT TOOK ME A FEW CLICKS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I WAS TEMPTED TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, BUT MY COMMON SENSE SCREAMED, "ARE YOU NUTS! YOU'LL BLOW THE TRANSMISSION!!". FORTUNATELY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED (AND THE THE 3 OTHER TIMES IT HAPPENED) THE ROAD WAS RELATIVELY CLEAR, AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE ROADSIDE AND RESTART THE CAR. AND, FYI: THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP (IN IT'S QUIRKY HYBRID WAY) AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I'M A VERY COOL-HEADED PERSON THAT DOESN'T PANIC EASILY, SO I WAS ABLE TO HANDLE THIS WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT THIS COULD EASILY LEAD TO A TERRIBLE RESULT, ESPECIALLY IN A HIGH TRAFFIC SITUATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE "NOT IN PARK" MESSAGE IS SO MISLEADING AND COULD EASILY DISTRACT ONE TO THE POINT OF CRASHING (ALSO, SOMEONE MIGHT ACTUALLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHILE SPEEDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY -- NOT SURE IF THAT WOULD CAUSE A PROBLEM, BUT IT CERTAINLY WON'T SOLVE IT)! NOTE: FOR THE "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" QUESTION I ENTERED THE DATE OF THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT. DON'T REMEMBER WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED (A FEW WEEKS AGO, I BELIEVE). FOR THE SPEED QUESTION, I ENTERED MY ESTIMATE OF THE HIGHEST SPEED OF ANY OF THE INCIDENTS.
MY CAR HAD BEEN VIBRATING PRETTY BAD FOR A WHILE, BUT I LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD AND KNOW THAT MUD CAN CAUSE THIS, SO I CHALKED IT UP TO THAT AND WAS GETTING THE UNDER CARRIAGE WASHED AND NOTICING THAT THIS DID NOT HELP. 2 DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND THE ORANGE "WRENCH" LIGHT APPEARED WITH THE WORDS "SEE MANUAL." I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT AS I WAS DRIVING AND COULDN'T READ MY MANUAL AT THAT MOMENT. THE VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT SAID THAT EVERYTHING BUT MY OIL LIFE WAS "UNCERTAIN." I STOPPED BY MY HOME TO HAVE SOMEONE COME WITH ME TO GIVE ME A RIDE, AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AND EVERY OIL CHANGE HAS BEEN DONE THERE) THAT NIGHT AND WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THERE WAS A CODE GIVEN OFF THAT SIGNALED "LOW FUEL PRESSURE" AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE MECHANICS FOUND THAT MY GAS LINE WAS FAULTY AND LITERALLY "FELL APART." I'M WRITING THIS JUST IN CASE ANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM.

WINDSHIELD WASHER SQUIRTERS ARE AIMED TOO LOW. AT SPEED, ESPECIALLY HIGHWAY SPEED, THE FLUID IS BLOCKED BY THE WIPER BLADES. THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD GETS VERY LITTLE, IF ANY, FLUID. DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY!! I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD AND MY DEALER. FORD CLAIMS THE SQUIRTERS THEMSELVES ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE AND THAT THEY OPERATE AS DESIGNED. HAVING TRIED OTHER FUSIONS LIKE MINE, THEY ARE ALL OPERATING THIS WAY. IT IS DANGEROUS. MY PHOTOS ARE OF THE CAR STATIONARY, IN MY GARAGE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 FORD FUSION ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH. I SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAID SEE OWNERS MANUAL AND THE CAR WAS SHUDDERING AND SHAKING. IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT IN A VERY REMOTE AREA. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND GET TO MY DESTINATION. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. DRIVING ON VERY REMOTE HIGHWAY GOING APPROX 75 AND CAR LOSES ALL POWER AND DIES. THIS TIME THERE WAS A TRUCK BEHIND ME AND HE HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE ONCOMING LANE TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER BUT NOT OUT OF MY LANE. CAR WAS SHUDDERING AGAIN, WARNING LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. CAR STARTED AFTER 2 TRIES. I HAD TO HAVE MY HUSBAND DRIVE 7 HOURS TO GET ME AND PUT THE CAR UP ON A RENTED UHAUL CAR TRANSPORT AND DRIVE 7 HRS BACK HOME TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. VERY VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND VERY SCARY. I CALLED FORD AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS YET.

A WRENCH ICON APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S DASH PANEL WITH STATEMENT "CHECK OWNER MANUAL". AS CAR SLOWED TO A CRAWL (BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF) WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER IN TRAFFIC SAFELY TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE W/O CONTROL OF CAR OTHER THAN STEERING (AUTO STEERING CONTINUED TO FUNCTION). I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT NO RESPONSE. THIS WAS REPEAT OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT ON JAN 11. TURN OFF CAR, WAITED 1 MINUTE AND DID A RE-START (MUCH LIKE MY DESK TOP PC. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO MIDDLETON (WI) FORD DEALER WHO HAD WORKED ON CAR PREVIOUS WEEK (JAN 13-17) FOR SAME FAILURE (A BENT WIRE FOUND). DURING THE JAN 13-17 PERIOD THE DEALER IN A ROAD TEST EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. LEFT CAR WITH DEALER FOR A 8 DAYS WHILE OUT OF TOWN. DEALER COULD NOT REPEAT FAILURE. APPARENTLY DISCUSSED WITH FORD HQ. WAS TOLD THE FILE WOULD BE KEPT OPEN AND THE BRING IT IN AGAIN IF IT FAILED. MY WIFE NOW CALLS CAR THE "DEATH TRAP" AND REFUSES TO RIDE IN IT!
THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A LOUD NOISE THE WINDSHIELD LIGHT STAYS ON, AND THE ENGINE SMELLS LIKE IT'S OVER HEATING.
WHEN I WAS LEASING THIS VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ASSAULT LIGHT STARTED COMING ON THEN PIWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. MY TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE LEASE MILEAGE. I WAS SENT HOME WITH THE CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND IN NEED OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO PAY THE 3.000 TO FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS RISKING MY LIFE. THE MANAGER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO UNDER THE LEASE WARRANTY. BUT IT WAS A LEASE AND I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR REPAIRS. I LATER DISCOVERED 5 RECALLS FOR THE CAR. I WAS ONLY NOTIFIED OF TWO, STEERING AND TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS WHEN I NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR. . ACCIDENTS OCCURRED BEFORE THE STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. BOTH INVOLVED THE CAR MOVING WITHOUT ACCELERATING. IT WAS ON A TOWN STREET AT A LIGHT BOTH TIMES. I WAS BEHIND ANOTHER CAR BOTH TIMES AS WELL. MY CAR INSURANCE HAS GONE UP BECAUSE OF THESE ACCIDENTS AND I HAVE SEVERE BACK PAIN FROM DRIVING ALL THOSE MONTHS WITH NO POWER STEERING. BUT I HAD NO CHOICE AS A SINGLE MOTHER WORKING MANY DIFFERENT LOCATIONS REQUIRING DAILY TRAVEL. ALSO, I HAVE TO LOOK BACK FOR THE CORRECT DATE OF WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR FOR SERVICE AND WAS REFUSED REPAIRS BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC DEPARTMENT WHERE I LEASED IT, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUES WERE CAR DEFECTS. THEREFORE, I ENTERED JANUARY OF 2017, SINCE IT WAS EITHER DURING 2016 OR BEGINNING OF 2017 THAT THESE ISSUES SURFACED. ALSO, ONE OF THESE ACCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR MOVED WITHOUT ACCELERATING DID MOT INVOLVE A POLICE REPORT, ONLY THE EXCHANGE OF INSURANCE INFORMATION. THE CAR SPEED IS NOT SAVING IN THE BOX BELOW. I WAS COMING TO A STOP IN ONE ACCIDENT AND WAS STOPPED COMPLETELY DURING ANOTHER. THIS IS MY BEST RECALL OF THE INFORMATION.
AFTER COMING TO A STOP ON OUR HIGHWAY RAMP. I HAD INTENDED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. BEFORE I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE MY CAR ACCELERATED CAUSING MY BACK TIRES TO LOCK AND SCREECH. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TOWARD THE RIGHT SO THAT I COULD REMAIN ON THE TWO LANE ROAD. MY CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT AND I SLAMMED INTO THE MEDIUM. MY CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT WAS STILL RUNNING. I TURNED OFF THE MEDIUM AND CONTINUED HOME. SHORTLY AFTER I HEARD THUMPING NOISE FOLLOWED BY LOUDER THUMPING AND MY ENTIRE DASH BOARD LIT EXCEPT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE WRENCH. I PULLED MY CAR TO THE SIDE TO FIND I HAD TWO BLOWN FRONT TIRES, MY BUMPER WAS BROKEN AND MY DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE WENT FLAT WAITING ON A TOW. ALL MY YEARS DRIVING I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION OF A VEHICLE AND PRAY THAT MYSELF OR GRANDDAUGHTER NEVER HAVE TO AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WENT TO GO TO LUNCH TODAY AND CRANKED THE CAR UP AND IT STARTED AND NO LIGHTS CAME ON OR RADIO. STARTED TO BACK OUT AND THERE WAS NO STEERING. TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT AND THE RADIO AND LIGHTS CAME ON BUT SERVICETRAC LIGHT STILL WAS ON DASH. FRIDAY DECEMBER 16, 2016 - 2016 FORD FUSION HYBRID, 16,000 MILES - WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH ON A CITY STREET SUDDENLY THE "STOP VEHICLE NOW" WARNING DISPLAYED ON MY DASH. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE SLOW DOWN AND WAS IN LIMP MODE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE CURB AND STOP. I SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE MANUAL ONLY PROVIDED A VAGUE EXPLANATION (MAY BE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE,) AND WAITED, I THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME NORMALLY. NOW I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN OR WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. DRIVING IT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY.

SEAT BELT ON DRIVER SIDE IS LOCKED UP, UNABLE TO BUCKLE INTO CAR, OR ABLE TO GET THE SEAT BELT TO MOVE AT ALL, THIS CAR HAS UNDER 9000 MILES ON IT, PURCHASED LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO. PULLING ON THE SEAT BELT ONLY MADE IT WORSE, I ASSUME IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TENSIONER.
ON NOVEMBER 25, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM, MY SON OPENED THE DOOR WITH A DEFECTIVE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MARYLAND. AFTER WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER, WE WERE UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AS THERE WAS A METAL PIECE BLOCKING THE CLOSING MECHANISM. WE CALLED EMERGENCY ROAD SIDE SERVICES AT 5:20 PM AND WAS TOLD A TOW TRUCK WOULD BRING US ANOTHER CAR WITH AN ETA OF 8:27 PM. FOUR CALLS WERE MADE UP TO 10:41PM TO FIND OUT WHEN THE TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE. WE WERE CONSISTENTLY TOLD THERE WAS A DELAY DUE TO HOLIDAY TRAFFIC. THE NEXT MORNING AT 8:03 AM, ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE TO DETERMINE THE STATUS OF THE ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD THE FASTEST WAY TO GET A CAR WOULD BE TO GO TO THE LOCAL BUDGET RENTAL LOCATION BUT WHEN WE ARRIVED WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT GIVE US A CAR BECAUSE THE COMPUTERS WERE DOWN. AFTER MULTIPLE ADDITIONAL CALLS , THE SERVICE PROMISED TO BRING A CAR THAT AFTERNOON. FINALLY, 21 HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL CALL, A REPLACEMENT CAR WAS DELIVERED AND THE FORD FUSION WITH THE DEFECTIVE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS RETURNED. THIS WAS NOT ONLY A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR MY FAMILY, WE LOST A DAY PLANNED WITH FAMILY FOR THE HOLIDAY. AS A FORMER BUSINESS TRAVELER OF 11 YEARS, THIS WAS THE WORST CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE AND I WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUND FOR THE TIME, DISTRESS, AND FRUSTRATION THIS CAUSED MYSELF AND DAILY. DURING BOTH OCCURRENCES THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER NEARLY CAUSED ME TO BE STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE HAPPENED WHILE IN BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THIS ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND WELL KNOWN OF BY FORD AND THE NHTSA. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALER WOULD ONLY REPROGRAM THE ECU DESPITE ME ASKING THEM ABOUT THE ETB. THE CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. THE NHTSA AND FORD ARE FAILING TO MEET THEIR OBLIGATION TO CONSUMER SAFETY BY PUSHING THIS ISSUE ASIDE.
