The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle shuddered significantly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred while driving from a complete stop while the engine revved to 1500-2000 RPMs. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into engine cylinder #3. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
The steering wheel has became severely loose to the point of almost detached. Ford claims there is no recall on this part for this model, however I've read that many people have had this problem. It is a high safety concern.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to overheat, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact's daughter was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. The overheating warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a general engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 150,000.
In August 2023, brought my 2016 Ford Fusion SE ecoboost with 77,000 miles on it to Ford Dealership due to vehicle stalling on 3 different occasions within a 3 week period. Occurred at low speed while starting out. No warning lights came on. They performed 2 recall notices (one dealing with powertrain control module) and said a fuel sensor code came up and they replaced that. Also replaced auto transmission fluid though wasn't required requested by me. See attached paperwork #1 A little over month later, car stalled on highway at 60mph. Wrench warning light came on. My son was able to pullover over safely and restarted and seem to run fine again. Called for another appt. and Ford dealership took in on Oct 3rd. During that time, car skipped (maybe between gears) a couple times around 40mph. I was told that torque converter and a couple other things were bad and it needed a new transmission. Also said that transmission fluid was bad (had metal filings in it) though when replaced a month earlier, no mention fluid had metal shavings in it. After researching online it appears the transmissions in these cars are notoriously faulty, but Ford has done nothing to address it. Believe there are current cases going on in Michigan and California. Ford has apparently known these transmissions were bad but continued producing them effecting 2009 - 2017 Ford Fusions. Ford has offered no compensation to fix my transmission. I expected to have this car a long time, but this transmission issue has gone on for years with no recalls being issued. This is a safety issue and regardless of warranty, Ford should issue recall for transmission. They offer a band aid recommendation but not worth it. Dealer wants over $9000 to replace it. This car should easily see 200,000 miles if well kepted (and it has been) but not worth putting in a new transmission for over $9000 especially if it is prone to failure. Serious crash probability when car loses power on interstate. See Item #2.
I was driving to this morning and the check engine light started blinking and the car started to shake i looked it up and it said the engine was misfiring and what not. But it would shake when idling and driving. I had a loss of power and had to pull of the highway to avoid danger.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the following day and was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in the engine piston rings. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. While driving on Interstate 75 from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa, the check engine light began to flash and the car began to shake violently. I had to bring it into a Ford dealer in Naples FL. It turns out that there is a known coolant intrusion issue into the engine and a class action lawsuit has been filed against Ford. There are a number of technical service bulletins as well however they are not issuing a recall.

The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side brake hose was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact later received a second notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) advising that the part was available for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front driver's side brake hose was replaced. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that the brake lines were severely damaged. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormal loud sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,704.
The backup camera has been cutting out recently. Just yesterday, the backup camera is displaying an image that is reversed (object on the sidewalk side (right side) of the vehicle, show up on the street side (left side) of the screen). I can no longer use the backup camera, as it is designed. The dealer has a one-month backlog on appointments, but I am taking it to a non-dealership mechanic on Monday. You will notice in the picture attached, the black car shows up on the left side of the screen, and it's actually on the right side of the car.

The engine failed ( I was told by Lithia Springs Ford Dealership that coolant was leaking into the engine and now I have to replaced the whole engine). The guy "Richard" at the dealership immediately pointed out that coolant could be leaking into the engine when I told him that fluid was found on one of the spark plugs. He said that Ford Fusion with the size engine 1.5 have been having this problem alot. It is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of every other vehicle on the road was put at risk as I was driving and then my check engine light started blinking. My vehicle started vibrating hard and fast causing me to impede the flow of traffic on the interstate and almost get rear ended why driving in the far left lane (the fast lane). I immediately got off the interstate and slowly drove 5 mph to a Autozone and had the scanner check the vehicle. The code P0302 came up with fuel injectors and misfire in cylinder 2. The vehicle was towed to the dealership a few days later because it was not driveable. The dealership called me and confirmed the cylinder 2 was misfiring and it was due to coolant leaking into the engine. The vehicle was only inspected by Lithia Spring Ford Dealership. There was no warning lights, the engine went immediately to blinking and the engine started vibrating hard. This incident happened on Sunday 9/3/2023.
This incident has happened to me more than once in the past few months. I am driving along the highway and all of a sudden I lose my power steering. The dashboard reads STEERING ASSIST FAULT. Service required. As well as Service Advance Trac. Safety issue because going at moderate speed to get onto highway and losing all power steering could cause me to go off road if in bad weather like rain or snow. In each situation all it took was me pulling off road and resetting the car by turning engine off and then turning it back on. I have take it to a Ford dealership near me and they ran a full diagnostics but couldnt find anything really wrong with it but it continues to happen at least once a month. Ive read similar incidents with Ford Fusion owners on Google and they werent sure as I that if it was the brake sensor or ABS Module that needs to be replaced. Any assistance or advice you could give me would be appreciated.
The car door won’t latch & the door pops open while I’m driving. There is suppose to be a recall on the door that no one will honor !
TSB 19-2172 Check Engine light lit due to a rough startup condition. ODB codes indicated the vehicle had a misfire of cylinder three. Replaced 4 spark plugs and the 3rd cylinder coil pack. 2 days later the car began to overheat to low coolant levels. "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" Added 3/4 gal of coolant and took to dealership. Dealership confirmed engine was compromised due to coolant intrusion after performing the pressure test.
Vehicle stalled multiple times at traffic lights in heavy traffic. Took vehicle to dealership and was told that engine coolant is leaking into the engine and the entire engine would have to be replaced at a cost of over $10,000. Called Ford Customer Service and was told that even though it's a known problem which is being reported by many customers they will not replace the engine or help with the cost.
My 2016 Fusion Hybrid SE. All SYNC related functions ceased to function . Cant use bluetooth. cant do voice commands. USB is not working and not charging. Radio works fine, but phone button does nothing; menu button does nothing; voice command button on steering wheel does nothing. This is a safety hazard and I know I'm not the only one having this issue.
August 15, 2023 factory recall (Manufacturer recall 23S12) repaired by Ford dealer for FRONT brake fluid leak. Three weeks later I noticed an increased in the brake pedal travel, checked brake fluid which confirmed why brake pedal had more travel. Topped off brake fluid. Drove for a few days and again brake pedal travel increased. Took car to an independent certified auto repair shop and they confirmed the REAR brake line was leaking. Shop owner had to replace the brake actuator which was damaged by the brake fluid leak.
The in-dash backup camera stopped functioning about 2 years ago. The errors are random and range from glitching video, delay in activating, not switching off(driving forward with rearview camera activated), and a error code pop-up to contact the dealer. 100 percent of the time, the image is displayed in reverse making backing up impossible.

The 2.0 liter Ecoboost engine developed a cracked block at the seven year, 94,000 mile point. The cracked block leaked coolant into the number 2 cylinder thereby causing the check engine light to illuminate. The cracked block necessitated a full engine replacement. The cracked block could have caused a catastrophic engine failure while in operation, putting the driver and other drivers on the road at risk. Research indicates this is a known problem with this engine.
Brake Booster Failed. No warning lights prior. I was driving when all of the sudden my brakes stopped working and brake pedal became very stiff and extremely hard to press down. I almost hit the car in front of me but fortunately was able to swerve on to the shoulder and had to take a right through a red light and was able to roll the car to a stop almost 40 yards further. I could have caused a severe accident. I see now there is recall for the same issue on F-150 trucks. I definitely think this needs to be a recall as I could have been severely inured or possibly fatally injured. My brakes do not work properly and the brake pedal is extremely hard to press down. The Ford dealership ran a diagnostic and stated, Replace engine camshaft, vacuum pump and related gaskets and hardware. Do not recommend driving vehicle until all repairs are performed. The vacuum pump is the brake booster pump recalled on other ford vehicles. This is a safety issue 100 percent as brakes suddenly stopped working at a high rate of speed not allowing driver proper stopping distance. My car is still not drivable because I can not properly brake at a safe stopping distance. It takes all my leg force just to start slowing down a tiny bit. This needs to be resolved right away.
In the last 4 years the battery has had to be replaced 3 times. Each time the car runs great then is shut off and the next day won't start, no lights and can't even get into the car without the key. The vehicle can't be jumped or battery charged, everything is dead. Upon replacing the battery everything works fine for about 2 years.
Coolant intrusion between #2 and #3 cylinders from poor design of engine block.

So multiple times in this past year I have been driving my car as normal and when I approach an intersection, decreased my speed, then proceed to accelerate in order to move forward or turn ... while pressing the accelerator its like i have no power.. it goes into a limp mode. There is nothing that triggers this is behavior. It has occurred multiple times. It has occurred as I have came off the interstate and sat at intersection and also while in city limits. It has happened a handful of times and its not producing any engine light indicators when this is happening. I typically turn off car and then have to turn it back on for it to work again. This is extremely scary for myself and dangerous. I'm concerned about the safety of myself , my family, and other drivers on the road. Failing to accelerate properly at intersection could cause a collision. I've almost been rearended / caused traffic concern & delays attempting to maneuver my car safely off the to the side of road. I've seen multiple comments online about the same issue I took it to Ford Garage and they didn't know what it was and say it may be throttle body but their not sure. They were just guessing. I was also told they would try to see if it was covered under warranty but they weren't sure but I never heard back. They told me I could call but I was waiting on them to call. I also spoke to advance auto who said it may be Throttle body and/or acceleration pedal sensor. I am financing this car and honestly it has less than 60,000 miles and shouldn't be having these issues.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
Cylinder 2 misfire, coolant leak - engine
THE TRUNK WILL OPEN BY ITSELF. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIME TO INCLUDE WHILE DRIVING. I AM SEEING LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE BUT NOW ONE HAS FOUND A FIX AT THIS TIME.
The front driver's side door latch failed. The latch would not secure to keep the door closed. The vehicle is at a dealership and could be inspected on request. My safety was put at risk because the latch could have failed while I was driving it. The dealership said they "didn't know why" my vehicle did not have a recall on the door latch as many 2016 Ford Fusions do have that recall. The vehicle is being inspected today by the dealership. There were no warnings for the door latch malfunction.

My vehicle is a 2016 Ford Fusion SE VIN3FA6P0H79GR130351. There is currently a recall (20V177000) on 2016 Ford Fusions, however it appears that the recall does not cover my specific vehicle per Ford. In 2021 we had an incident where the driver side door latch broke/stopped functioning causing the door to swing open and the door not securing properly. Upon that incident occurring, I took the vehicle to the dealership (Duval Ford, Jacksonville Florida) for repair, at which time I was told my vehicle was not covered under the recall nor was the issue covered under warranty. Thus I paid approximately $400 to have the repair complete. Yesterday the door latch failed again, this time while driving in traffic as I was coming to a stop at an intersection. The door violently flew open as the vehicle was still moving. Had there been someone standing or walking in the median, the door would have hit them. Upon stopping I attempted to secure the door but it will not secure and just stays open. It will be required to again pay to repair this major safety issue. I believe this safety issue should be covered under the current recall for the same model vehicles in this year. I am concerned that after repair this issue will occur again and could cause a major accident or great bodily harm.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, there was a significant amount of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact returned to the residence and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,400.
There is an issue with the (evap) solenoid/associated sensor that causes the vehicle not to restart at unexpectable intervals and the fuel delivery system is also affected during fueling and seemingly during acceleration, at least. The key was recently replaced and association between the problem and the key reading mechanism is unspecified. A power train affect/association is also likely component- that based upon information provided to consumer. I've heard similar problems with other Fords and in other conversations it has not been indicated to me that the models' component's failure is not problematic. It has not been stated how that is contributory to the increased collision risk associated with the brake component that is a current recall. It began prior to the key replacement which is in the dealer repair record and 4 weeks prior to this submission is listed as the incident onset date.
