The dash deteriorated to the extent that, according to a Ford engineer, the passenger airbag will not deploy properly.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi. The contact stated while parked and attempting to fasten the rear passenger's side and driver's side seat belts, the seat belts failed to retract. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the seat belts could not be ordered because the seat belts had been discontinued. The approximate mileage was 70,000.
I was a victim in a car crash driving this vehicle when another vehicle hit me and deployed my air bags. Due to the air bags deployment I ended up with significant burn marks to my arm which is likely to permanently scar.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the air bag module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed there was no recall on the VIN related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that during a vehicle State Inspection, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the air bag control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the replacement part was on backorder. The failure mileage was unknown.
The airbag warning light was enabled on the dashboard. The Ford dealer diagnosed this as code "DTC U2100:00 and B00A0:62-28 stored in RCM". I was told that Ford told the dealer to reprogram the RCM with new software and this was labor "not covered by warranty or recall." But, if my car were one model year later (2018 vs 2017) it would have been covered. I argued that this is a software defect, clearly the hardware did not fail since they did not have to replace anything, but I was simply told the labor was not covered and I would need to pay for it. After the software update the error codes and airbag light are normal. There is clearly a software defect impacting the safety performance of the vehicle. This vehicle should be recalled and the cost of the update and labor should not be a burden to the consumer. Consumers, such as me, who have had to pay for this work should be reimbursed by Ford.
Front driver and passenger seat belts do not lock or retract. Mine and my children life are at risk because it’s a safety issue, and requirement to have a seatbelt worn while driving but as well having a proper working seatbelt. Yes, the car is currently at the dealer now which confirmed it does not work properly. No warning lights came on to let me know that the seat belt was malfunctioning.
I left work, got into my car, turned the car on and the airbag light turned on, now the light is always on
