WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROX. 65MPH WHEN THE DRIVER HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE UNDER THE FRONT WHEEL. DRIVER STILL HAD CONTROL. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. MECHANIC CHECKED VEHICLE & NOTICED DRIVESHAFT WAS CRACKED & NEEDED REPLACING. WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE DRIVESHAFT & WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED. *AK
WAS AT GAS STATION & FILLED VEHICLE WITH FUEL. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON & STAYED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER & WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THE CAP NOT ON TIGHT & VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE RECOMPUTERIZED. THE PROBLEM WITH ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAS REAPPEARED. THE VEHICLE ALSO GIVING A CODE OF LOSS OF FUEL. *AK
EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER STAYED UP, AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT ENGAGED. ALSO, MULTI- FUNCTION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS FLUID WILL CONSTANTLY COME OUT ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. *AK
THE SEAT HEAD RESTRAINTS DO NOT RAISE HIGH ENOUGH TO GO BEYOND MY SHOULDERS, GIVING NO PROTECTION TO MY HEAD AT ALL. *AK
I HAVE A LITTLE PROBLEM. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT THE BEGINING OF ACCELERATION, IF I LET OFFTHE GAS AND THEN REAPPLY IT; IT CLUNKS AGAIN. I THOUGHT THAT IT MIGHT BE EXCESSIVE BACKLASH IN THE REAR, BUT THEY CHECKED THAT AND SAID IT WAS UP TO SPEC. THEY (BOB THOMAS FORD OF HAMDEN CT) SAID THAT IT WAS THE REAR CROSSMEMBER TO THE TRANSMISSION THEY TIGHTENED THIS UP. THIS HELPED IT A LITTLE BUT NOT COMPLETELY. I'M THINKING OF GOING TO ANOTHER DEALER .*AK
CONVERTIBLE TOP IS POORLY FIT DUE TO UNATTACHED WIRE. YH
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 50-60 MPH WITH THE CONVERTIBLE TOP DOWN REAR PASSENGER SIDE GOODRICH TIRES EXPLODED. ALSO, TIRES HAS CAME OF THE RIM AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL FORWARD RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE GARAGE DOOR, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE, MIRROR, SIDE WINDOW AND INSIDE DOOR PANEL. YH
SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
ENGINE IDLE FLUCUATES BETWEEN 350 AND 1000 RPM'S DROPPING SPORADICALLY. *AK
GAS FROM AIRBAGS CAME THROUGH THE VENT AND MADE PASSENGERS ILL AND TEMPORARILY BLIND. *AK
CONVERTER GLOWING ORANGE AND MAKING NOISES EQUIVALENT TO HAMMER HITTING METAL. HEAT CAN BE FELT COMING THROUGH DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARD TO THE POINT THAT IT FEELS AS THOUGH HEATER IS ON HIGH. WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL, CONVERTERS RUN UP TO 1800 DEGREES, AND SHOULD ONLY BE CONCERNED IF IT HITS 2000 DEGREES. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT TEMPERATURE IT'S RUNNING?*AK
THE FRAME CROSS MEMBER BOLT IS MISSING, THE CONSUMER NOW NOTICES VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT AT UNEXPECTED STOPS. *SLC
EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED, VEHICLE ROLLED WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS PRESSED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK UNTIL VEHICLE WAS RUNNING. *SLC
ON 6/22/2000, I PURCHASED A NEW FORD MUSTANG GT FROM GALPIN MOTORS (LA, CA). APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP. WHILE AT THIS DEALERSHIP, THEY SHOWED ME THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR. IT WAS CORRODING AT A PROGRESSIVE RATE. THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN DECEMBER 1999. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO GALPIN MOTORS AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ROLL BACK OR BUY BACK THE CAR. THEIR POSITION IS THAT THE CORROSION CAN BE CLEANED UP BY THE USE OF STEEL WOOL. I AM CONCERNED THAT PARTS ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR MAY CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD AS TIME CONTINUES. THE DEALERSHIP VIEWED THE CAR AND STATED THAT IT WAS SIMPLY SURFACE RUST. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THE CAR SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS STATE 7 MONTHS AFTER THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE. OBVIOUSLY, I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS CAR IF THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN DISCLOSED TO ME. AS A RESULT OF AN ARBITRATION PROCESS, THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEM AND UNDERCOAT THE BOTTOM OF THIS VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT ONLY EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE RUST CAN BE CLEANED UP. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. LEATHER SEATS AT 2000 MILES ARE DETERIATING, LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE 120,000 MILES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DEALER WHO SAYS IT IS NORMAL FOR MUSTANGS, I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS & THEY SAY THERES IS THE SAME. EITHER THEY USE AN INFERIOR GRADE OF LEATHER OR AS OTHERS HAVE TOLD ME IT IS THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SEAT WHICH CAUSES THE FOAM TO DETERIATE.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AND SHIFTING GEARS VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN REVERSE. CONUSMER HAS TO TURN VEHICLE OFF TO SHIFT GEARS. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
FROM PURCHASE, HAD PROBLEM WITH NOISES EMINNATING, WE THOUGHT, FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO, UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, USUALLY AFTER DOWNSHIFTING FROM 5TH TO 4TH AND THEN ACCELERATING, WILL JUMP OUT OF 4TH GEAR. BUT, BIGGEST CONCERN HAS BEEN A TERRIFIC VIBRATION FROM BENEATH THE CAR AND IN THE CONSOLE WHICH, ON ONE OCCASION, DISPLACED THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. TOOK VEHICLE TO VARIOUS FORD DEALERS IN CARSON CITY AND RENO, NEVADA AND STATELINE, CA. ALTHOUGH NOISE OBVIOUS, DEALERS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, THE NOISE BECAME VERY LOUD, AT WHICH TIME A DEALER REPLACED PARTS, UNKNOWN, IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. WE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AND MORE RECENTLY, THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN CARSON CITY FOUND A "TECHNICAL" WHICH COVERED A CLUTCH PROBLEM. THE MUSTANG IS IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW (SINCE MONDAY) AT WHICH TIME CLUTCH PARTS ARE TO BE REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO TO BE CHECKED FOR PROBLEMS. PERHAPS OUR CONCERNS WILL BE ADDRESSED, BUT WE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING FOR APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES. OUR CONCERN HAS BEEN FOR A "LOCKED UP" TRANSMISSION AND THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT. NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED AT THIS POINT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING FUMES WOULD COME INSIDE THROUGH PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT. THIS WOULD CAUSE DRIVER TO GET HEADACHS & NAUSEA. FUMES WERE CARBON MONOXIDE. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES, EACH TIME MECHANIC COULD NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE FUME CREATED CONSIDERABLE HEALTH PROBLEMS TO THE CONSUMER. *YH
WHILE TRAVELING AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE WAS SERVICES. TECH STATED DISTRIBUTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE ELECTRICAL BRAIN/COMPUTER FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ABRUPTLY. *YH
CONSUMER STATES SHE HAS HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE IN FOR SEVERAL REPAIRS, SHE EXPERIENCED A BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, WHICH RESULTED IN OIL GETTING ON THE ENGINE DUE TO DEALER LEAVING THE OIL CAP OFF, ALSO WATER PUMP HAD TO REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE ROCKER ARM GASKET. *JB
UPON RAPID DECELERATION, ENGINE STALLS. WHEN THIS OCCURS, ALL POWER ASSIST FEATURES (BRAKES, STEERING) ARE LOST. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAS BEEN DISMISSED AS "NOT ABLE TO RECREATE" BY THE DEALERSHIP.*AK
CAR DIED OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH, ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE POWER BRAKES WENT OUT. THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 1999-2001 MUSTANG GTS AND FORD SEEMS TO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. *AK
BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE HEATER OUTLET RELATIVE TO THE GAS PEDAL, I AM UNABLE TO EASILY SWITCH BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL; PARTICURALY IN EMERGENCY, PANIC SITUATIONS WHERE IT IS NECESSARY TO MOVE IMMEDIATELY FROM ONE PEDAL TO THE OTHER. I HAVE SHOE SIZE 13 0OR 14. *AK
WHILE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON WRONG SIDE OF ROAD CONSUMER FLASHED HEAD LIGHTS AND BLEW HORN, AND OTHER VEHICLE RAN HEAD-ON INTO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMAITON. *AK

THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, IN TRAFFIC, ON THE FREEWAY, WHERE/WHENEVER. IT JUST CUTS OUT, WHETHER THE ENGINE IS WARM OR COLD. WE HAVE HAD IT TO 5 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG OR THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG.*AK
CONSUMER WAS GOING ABOUT 3 MPH WHEN VEHICLE TAPPED A POLE AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. NO DAMAGE TO VEHICLE EXCEPT SCRATCH ON RIGHT SIDE OF BUMPER. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER TESTED AIR BAG SENSORS DETECTED IN A CRASH . CONSUMER HAS NO RECOURSE.*AK
AT CERTAIN RPMS AND WITHOUT WARNING CLUTCH AND PEDAL RATTLE CONTINUOUSLY. MECHANIC HAS BEEN NOTIFIED; HOWEVER, MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE.*AK
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CALIPER MOUNT AND CALIPER PIN RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP, THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO GREASE THE CALIPER PIN AND MOUNT WHEN VEHICLE WAS FIRST BUILT.*JB
THE CAR HAS DIED WHILE ENGAGING THE CLUTCH OVER FIVE TIMES. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM OR THAT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE IT. WHEN THE CAR DIES YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING BRAKES ETC, WHICH IN THE RIGHT SITUATION COULD BE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. NOW THE CAR IS OFF WARRANTY SO THIS IS ON;Y ROUTE I KNEW TO GO. SOMETHING IS WRONG, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF SAME PROBLEM SO IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.*AK

THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT OR MAY NOT COME OUT OF THE RETRACTOR. DRIVER STATES "FRONT PASSENGERS ARE NOT ABLE TO FASTEN THEIR SEAT BELTS". *AK *PH
OWNER WAS COMPLAINING THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE. OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD BEEN REMOVED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NM
