JUNE, 2012 (2012 NOT A DROPDOWN OPTION). I CURRENTLY OWN A 2012 MUSTANG RTR, THIS WAS PURCHASED THIS YEAR IN JUNE WITH 300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ENGAGEMENT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION WITH GEARS 1-3 EITHER UPSHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING PRETTY MUCH OUT OF THE GATE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE GEARS FAIL TO COMPLETELY SYNCHRONIZE WITH THE CLUTCH IN, RESULTING IN ANYTHING FROM A PARTIAL LOCK-IN, WHICH CAUSES THE GEARS TO GRIND, OR A COMPLETE FAILURE TO ENGAGE, WHICH REQUIRES A SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND REPEATED CLUTCHING TO GET A SYNCHRONIZATION TO OCCUR. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 1500 MILES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES ON A COMPLETELY RANDOM BASIS. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AS NOTHING I DO BEHIND THE WHEEL CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN AT WILL AND IT WASN'T UNTIL I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED ABOUT THE NHTSA'S ONGOING COMPLAINTS WITH THIS ISSUE THAT I THOUGHT I SHOULD VOICE MY ISSUES AS WELL. WHILE THESE OCCURRENCES HAVE MAINLY BEEN CENTERED AROUND THE 2011 MODEL YEAR AND HAVE NOT YET RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, I DO NOT WISH MY MODEL YEAR CAR TO EXPERIENCE A CATASTROPHIC DRIVETRAIN FAILURE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL. *TR
SIX SPEED MANUAL MT-82 TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD WHEN COLD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. *TR
BINDING SHIFT LINKAGE, UNABLE TO SHIFT. OCCURRED WHEN MERGING UNTO FREEWAY AND SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR, NEARLY RUN INTO BY FOLLOWING TRAFFIC, HAD TO COAST TO SHOULDER AND NEARLY STOP BEFORE ABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION GRINDS WHEN SHIFTING TO 5TH GEAR. THE BINDING LINKAGE HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL PROBLEM. I AM 67 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME WITH SIMILAR DRIVETRAINS AND HAVE NOT HAD THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THEM. I PRESENTLY OWN 3 OTHER VEHICLES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, ALL FLOOR SHIFTERS ( ONE 4 SPEED, ONE 5 SPEED, AND ONE 6 SPEED), AND THEY HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE LINKAGE AND TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND AM RETURNING IT TO THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE FOR A WARRANTY CLAIM. I HAVE DELAYED THE WARRANTY CLAIM FOR SEVERAL REASONS,NUMBER ONE: THE VEHICLE IS ONE OF SIX I PRESENTLY OWN AND IT SEES VERY LITTLE USE AND HAS VERY LOW MILES ON IT, NUMBER TWO: I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID DAMAGE FROM THE GRINDING BY SKIPPING 6TH GEAR, NUMBER THREE: THE DEALER IS NOT REAL CLOSE TO MY RESIDENCE SO I HAVE DELAYED THE TRIP THERE UNTIL LOGGING ENOUGH MILES TO JUSTIFY AN OIL CHANGE AT THE TIME OF INVESTIGATING THE GRINDING AND LINKAGE PROBLEM.THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 6-1-11 AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN RECEIVED BY ME. THE VEHICLE HAS THE GETRAG 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE SPACING BETWEEN GEARS SEEMS EXCESSIVELY CLOSE AND MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED UNEXPECTED INABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS. IN ADDTION, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO FIRST GEAR, BUT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FLUID; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE DID NOT CHANGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,500.
VEHICLE RECENTLY TAKEN TO FORD DEALER FOR THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINTS.... COMPLAINTS: 1.) THERE IS ALWAYS A SENSATION OF "CRUNCHING" WHEN UP-SHIFTING OR DOWN-SHIFTING INTO 1ST, 2ND & 3RD GEARS. SOMETIMES IT'S REALLY BAD, SOMETIMES NOT SO BAD. 2.) IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO UP-SHIFT OR DOWN-SHIFT INTO 1ST, 2ND & 3RD GEARS. THIS IS MOST COMMON GOING INTO 2ND GEAR. 3.) ON OCCASION, IT IS TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO UP-SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. THIS IS NOT UNDER A "SKIP-SHIFT" SITUATION (ENGINE RPM GREATER THAN 3000). 4.) OCCASIONALLY THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT "CLUNK" WHICH CAN BE HEARD & FELT IN THE CABIN, MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN ENGAGING/DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH AT A STEADY, LOW ENGINE RPM. NOTES: A.) NONE OF THE ITEMS ARE MORE OR LESS EVIDENT IF CAR IS "COLD" OR "WARMED UP". B.) ALL CONCERNS ABOVE HAVE BEEN NOTED SINCE ~500 MILES. C.) ALL ITEMS SEEM TO BE GETTING MORE PROMINENT AS MILES INCREASE. D.) VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEN AGGRESSIVELY - ALL CONCERNS OCCUR AT 3,500 RPM OR LESS. E.) I HAVE OWNED & DRIVEN MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES CONTINUOUSLY FOR 45 YEARS. DEALER INSPECTION RESULTS OF 10/03/2011: NO PROBLEMS NOTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. AFTER DOUBLE CLUTCHING AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT WOULD OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE DEALER PERFORMED A FLUID SWAP BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
I BOUGHT A 2012 MUSTANG GT PREMIUM IN APRIL. STARTING AT ABOUT 2000 MILES, MY CAR HAS HAD A LARGE "THUNK" WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, OCCASIONALLY CAUSING A "LOCK-OUT." USUALLY, THIS LOCKOUT OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS (I.E. UNDER 15 MPH) OR OCCASIONALLY WILL OCCUR WHEN STOPPED THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 3+ TIMES, WITH THE FIRST ACTION BEING A REPLACEMENT OF THE FLUID PER THE TSB. WHILE THIS IMPROVED THE ISSUE, IT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS DROPPED OFF, ONE OF THE SERVICE CONSULTANTS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE. I REMOVED THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I WAS GOING ON A LONG VACATION WITH THE CAR. AFTER DROPPING IT OFF THE THIRD TIME, THE ISSUE WAS RECOGNIZED AGAIN (AFTER MUCH DELAY). THE DEALERSHIP TESTED ANOTHER CAR OF SIMILAR MILES, WHICH WAS "NOTCHY" BUT NOT TO THE EXTENT OF MY OWN VEHICLE. REGARDLESS, IT WAS NOT FOUND TO BE "EXCESSIVE." I ESCALATED MY CLAIM THROUGH A FORD SERVICE REP WHO SUBSEQUENTLY CALLED AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NOT "EXCESSIVE" ENOUGH AND THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO THE EXTENT I EXPERIENCE. I PROCEEDED TO REQUEST A TEST DRIVE WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE SIMILAR FEEL, BUT NONE OF THE NOISE OR "LOCK-OUT." I AGREED TO DRIVE ANOTHER COLLECTION OF MILES, BUT THE LOCK-OUT IS STILL PRESENT AT REGULAR INTERVALS, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A SYSTEMATIC SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
BRAND NEW 2012 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 302, 5.0L, MT82 6-SPD TRANSMISSION. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THIS CAR HAS A REVISED CLUTCH MECHANISM VS. THE 2011 MODEL YEAR. REGARDLESS, I'VE BEGUN TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES 2011 MODEL YEAR OWNERS REPORT. I'VE OWNED THE CAR LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AND WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON THE CAR AT A STOP LIGHT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO FIRST GEAR FULLY. THIS RESULTS IN A GRINDING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. NEARLY REAR ENDED, VEHICLE WAS AT A LIGHT AT THE END OF A FREEWAY RAMP AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE UNTIL THE CAR WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL AND RE-SHIFTED TO 1ST. 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD SHIFTS TEND TO BE HARD, ROUGH OR CLUNKY. ON OCCASION SHIFTS TO 5TH EXHIBIT A CLUNKY SENSATION AS WELL. AT 295 MILES WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR, YOU COULD HEAR THE SYNCHROS WINDING UP IN THE TRANSMISSION DURING THE ATTEMPT. LIKEWISE MOVING BACK TO FIRST, EVEN AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 5MPH IN THIS INSTANCE, RESULTED IN A ROUGH ENGAGEMENT AND SYNCHRO WHINE FROM THE TRANNY. DRIVING IN 2ND GEAR AT 20MPH AND PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN TO COAST RESULTS IN A RATTLING NOISE INTERMITTENTLY. THIS RATTLING JUST STARTED WITHIN THE LAST 50 MILES OF DRIVING. THE BUILD DATE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 3/31/2011. I'VE NOT YET REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO MY FORD DEALER BUT INTEND TO SHORTLY! VERY VERY WORRIED AT OVER $42,000 THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE VEHICLE I'VE EVER PURCHASED AND AM GRAVELY CONCERNED I MAY HAVE A LEMON ON MY HANDS. MY PREVIOUS MUSTANG WITH A 5 SPD MANUAL NEVER EXHIBITED THESE TENDENCIES. FORD MUST RESOLVE THE ISSUES THE MT-82 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY OR REPLACE IT WITH A PROPERLY DESIGNED ALTERNATE UNIT. I WON'T ENTERTAIN HAVING MY SPECIAL EDITION VEHICLE DAMAGED DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. LIKEWISE I UNDERSTAND THE FIX OFFERED TO 2011 OWNERS ONLY MAKES MATTERS WORSE, I REFUSE TO TRY ANYTHING THAT WILL WORSEN THE CURRENT SITUATION. DEEPLY FEARFUL THAT CONTINUED USE OF MY 2012 VEHICLE WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE DRIVETRAIN DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT. *TR
2012 MUSTANG GT 5.0 1.MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY, COULD NOT GET THE CAR IN 2ND GEAR. 2.THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. AND COULD BE DEADLY, 1 OF THESE TIMES, IF THE DRIVERS DON'T RECOGNIZE I CAN NOT ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED, BECAUSE IM STUCK TRYING TO GET MY CAR INTO GEAR IN A PANIC. 3.NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY FORD OR THE DEALER BECAUSE THE SAY NOTHING IS WRONG AND IT IS NORMAL! *TR
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY AT A INTERSECTION AND GENTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND THE ABS WENT ON BUT THE CAR DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I TURNED THE CORNER. I CHECKED THE NEXT DAY TO SEE IF IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT I HAD APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THERE IS NO WAY MY FOOT COULD HAVE APPLIED BOTH SYSTEMS SIMULTANEOUSLY. I HAD THE DEALER CHECK MY AUTO TODAY BUT BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE DIDN'T COME ON THE COULD NOT FIND ANY MALFUNCTION. THIS IS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE ON THE 2012 FORD MUSTANG V6. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE FREEWAY GOING 55 MPH WHEN I DOWN SHIFTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE GEAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO THE 5TH GEAR FROM 6TH GEAR. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THEN PUT IT IN 5TH GEAR WITH NO ILL EFFECT. ALSO WHEN DRIVING ON THE LOCAL STREET SOMETIMES THE GEAR WOULD GRIND FROM 2 TO 3 AND A COUPLE OF TIMES FROM 5 TO 6 GEAR. *TR
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ENTER THE GEAR I DESIRE, CAUSING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY LOOSE MOMENTUM LEAVING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME NUMEROUS TIMES CROSSING INTERSECTIONS AND ENTERING THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SINCE NEW THE GEAR CHANGES WERE DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE, THEN WHEN MILES ACCUMULATE IT DEVELOPS UNABLE/VERY HARD TO GET INTO FIRST/SECOND/THIRD GEARS, AN INCIDENT ALMOST OCCUR WHEN I TRY TO GET INTO FIRST AT THE GREEN LIGHT AND OTHER DANGEROUS SITUATIONS THAT RESULT ON CAR BEHIND ALMOST REAR END ME. FORD REPLACE TRANSMISSION(WITH SAME PART NUMBER) AND AGAIN AT 4300 MILES GEAR CHANGES START TO BE DIFFICULT AND TRANSMISSION WHINE IS PRESENT AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH AND ABOVE. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT BETWEEN THIRD AND FOURTH GEARS AND WOULD HEAR A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2012 FORD MUSTANG GT COUPE (THIS SITE WILL NOT LET ME SELECT A 2012 MUSTANG FROM THE DROP DOWN MENU, ONLY 2011), PURCHASED 3/11/11. IT IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A "CLUTCH STAY OUT" PROBLEM. IT IS A SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR AT HIGH RPM, THE CLUTCH WILL NOT RELEASE FOR THE SHIFT UNTIL THE RPMS FALL BACK BELOW A CERTAIN LEVEL. I AM UNSURE IF THIS HOLDS TRUE FOR ALL THE GEARS AS MY CAR IS STILL FAIRLY NEW AND IN BREAK-IN AND I HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY GEAR PAST 5K RPM. THAT SAID, THE PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE GOES LIKE THIS, "TAKE FIRST GEAR PAST 3K RPM, SHIFT TO SECOND, CAR BUCKS, RPMS FALL, SECOND IS THEN ENGAGED, CAR LURCHES/LUNGES FORWARD AFTER THE CLUTCH "CATCHES" AND THEN IT LAUNCHES ONE FORWARD UNPREDICTABLY." THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME EVERY TIME I HAVE SHIFTED THE CAR INTO SECOND GEAR AFTER TAKING FIRST GEAR PAST 3K RPM. *TR
THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN MY 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT HAS GIVEN ME PROBLEMS FOR THE PAST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT GO INTO 2ND GEAR. THE GEAR APPEARS/FEELS TO BE "LOCKED OUT". THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE PULLING OUT ACROSS ON-COMING TRAFFIC, AND I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS. I ALSO HAVE HORRIBLE GEAR WHILE/NOISE, AND GRINDING SHIFTS ALMOST ALL THE TIME. FORD HAS REBUILT MY TRANSMISSION, BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ELSE WITH THE CAR. THEY CLAIM THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS CAR. MY WIFE DRIVES THE VEHICLE, AND I FEAR FOR HER SAFETY. PLEASE HELP ME! *TR
