THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS TRUCK. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT IN RENO NEVADA AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR ANOTHER MONTH AND A HALF. IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL THEN?
ENGINE STALLED OSTENSIBLY FOR LACK OF FUEL. FIRST ENGINE STALL EPISODE OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS TURNING LEFTWARD INTO DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 2 MPH AND AT APPROX 5 DEGREE ANGLE OF INCLINATION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM WHERE IT CAME TO REST TO REPAIR SHOP WHERE DIAGNOSIS WAS FUEL PUMP FAILURE RESULTING IN REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP (FORD OEM PART.) VEHICLE PERFORMED RELIABLY THEREAFTER FOR A PERIOD OF APPROX 39 MONTHS WITHOUT STALLING. SECOND EPISODE OCCURRED AFTER VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND RESTING ON FLAT DRIVEWAY SURFACE OVERNIGHT. THE FOLLOWING MORNING ENGINE CRANKED BUT WOULD NOT FIRE OR START. AGAIN TOWED TO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE DIAGNOSIS WAS AGAIN FUEL PUMP FAILURE HOWEVER UPON ATTEMPT TO RESTART FOLLOWING PUMP REPLACEMENT, ENGINE WOULD NOT FIRE OR START. TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED FUEL INERTIA SWITCH REQUIRED RESET AFTER WHICH ENGINE STARTED, SYSTEM TESTED OK AND VEHICLE PERFORMED SEEMINGLY PROPERLY FOR NEXT 10 DAYS. MOST RECENT (3RD) STALLING EPISODE OCCURRED AT TRAFFIC CONTROL LIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IMMEDIATELY UPON ACCELERATION FROM FULL STOP ON LEVEL SURFACE AND ATTEMPTING TO TRAVEL DIRECTLY FORWARD WITH NO TURN OF THE WHEEL. FOLLOWING REMOVAL FROM ROADWAY, ENGINE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED UNTIL AFTER FUEL INERTIA SWITCH WAS RESET. VEHICLE THEN RAN UNDER ITS OWN POWER ADDITIONAL 2 MILES TO HOME WHERE IT REMAINS PENDING FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR.

I CAN'T GET MY VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE OFF WORK AND LOOSE A DAYS PAY. MY WIFE IS VERY SICK AND I NEED TO BE WITH HER WHEN I AM HOME. NO DEALER NEAR ME WILL WORK WITH ME.

TAKATA RECALL: NOT SURE WHAT A 'TIMELY MANNER' FOR REPAIR WOULD BE BUT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND WERE TOLD THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THEM UNTIL THE END OF FEBRUARY. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS IN NASHUA, NH ARE YOU AWARE FOR THIS CONFLICT BETWEEN THE 'WITHOUT DELAY' REPAIR NOTICE AND THE FACT THAT FORD DEALERSHIPS ARE WITHOUT PARTS TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY REPAIR ASAP.
TAKATA RECALL I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER (ONEONTA FORD IN ONEONTA NY) AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE AIRBAG ISSUE, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY THING I COULD DO IS CALL THEM BACK ON A MONTHLY BASIS TO SEE IF THEY EVEN GET A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN FORD SENDS THEM OUT. AT THE TIME OF THE CALL THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS IN STOCK NOR COULD THEY PUT ME ON SOME SORT OF LIST TO CALL ME WHEN THEY GET THEM BACK IN STOCK. THEY SAID THEY HAD CUSTOMERS WAITING MONTHS ALREADY. I SAID I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY TRUCK WITH POSSIBLY DEADLY AIRBAGS AND THEY OFFERED NOTHING. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND THEY ARE THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER. THEIR INFO IS: ONEONTA FORD, ONEONTA NY, PHONE 607-431-7300. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO A POTENTIAL DEADLY ISSUE. I FEEL AS IF I WAS "BRUSHED OFF" DURING THE PHONE CALL.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYING THAT MY TRUCK NEEDED BOTH AIR BAGS REPLACED AGAIN. MY PROBLEM IS THE LETTER SAYS THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE BUT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS CAN'T GET THEM AND NEITHER FORD OR THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER. SO I'M STUCK HAVING TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE DEALERSHIP HAS A STACK OF PEOPLE BEFORE AND I CALLED THE INITIAL DEALERSHIP THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER RECEIVING MY NOTICE. TAKATA AIRBAGS. FIRST RECALL 2016. ONLY HAD PARTS FOR PASSENGER AIRBAGS. I CHECKED EVERY TWO MONTHS AND NO PARTS. NOW RECEIVE NEW RECALL, FORD MOTOR SAID HAD PARTS, BUT DEALER SAYS NO. GETTING THE RUNAROUND. I WEIGH 96 POUNDS AND AM 70 YEARS OLD. IF BAG IS DEFECTIVE THEN I WILL BE ONE OF THE DEATH STATISTIC. I ALREADY THINK WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH AIRBAG.

I GOT A LETTER ABOUT A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS BECAUSE THEY HAVE KILLED PEOPLE. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET. FORD IS STATING IN THE NEWS THAT WE SHOULD NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAID THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING A RENTAL AND THE FORD HOTLINE HAS HUNG UP ON ME SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK TO A PERSON. MY SON HAS THE CAR TO GET TO SCHOOL AND NOW HAS NO WAY TO DO THAT. I NEED A REPAIR OR A RENTAL RIGHT AWAY.

I CONTACTED COWLES FORD IN WOODBRIDGE, VA IN APRIL, 2017 ABOUT THE AIRBAG RECALL. THEY TOOK DOWN MY VIN, SAID THEY WOULD ORDERS THE PARTS, SAID IT WOULD TAKE SOME TIME FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN. I GOT ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE AND CALLED THEM IN DECEMBER, 2017. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAW WHERE THEY TRIED TO ORDER THE PARTS BEFORE WITH NO OTHER INFORMATION LISTED. HE TOOK DOWN MY VIN, SAID HE WOULD ORDER THE PARTS AND WOULD CALL ME IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS WHEN THEY CAME IN. HE CALLED ME BACK AND SAID HE CALLED IN TO ORDER THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT PARTS AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH, 2018 AND FOR ME TO CALL BACK MID-MARCH FOR A STATUS. I HAVE A VOICEMAIL WHERE THE DEALERSHIP STATES THIS. THE AIRBAG RECALL SAYS THE PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AND TO GET THE AIRBAGS REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND MEDIA/NEWS IS REPORTING THERE WAS AN AIRBAG RELATED DEATH RECENTLY FOR MY SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE MANUFACTURED ONE YEAR AFTER MY VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED NOTICE IN DEC 2017 THAT MY VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE & THAT FORD WOULD PAY FOR REPAIR. END OF FEB 2018, LOCAL DEALER STILL HAS NO PARTS. FORD HAS NOT PROVIDED ME WITH A LOANER CAR UNTIL MINE CAN BE MADE SAFE. THESE MANUFACTURERS HAVE FULL FORESEEABILITY THAT THEIR PRODUCT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, YET THEY FAIL TO REMEDY THIS DESIGN FLAW, THREATENING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. I AM FORCED TO: A) RISK BLOODY DEATH BY SHRAPNEL EXPLODING AIRBAGS; B) NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHICH DEPRIVES ME OF ESSENTIAL TRANSPORTATION & THE USE OF MY RIGHTFUL PROPERTY; OR C) DISABLE THE AIRBAGS & RELY ONLY ON SEATBELTS AS WE DID IN THE OLDEN DAYS. PLEASE HELP GET PARTS TO THE MILLIONS OF CONSUMERS WHO SHOULD NOT BEAR THE BURDEN FOR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS & CORRUPT FAILURES OF GOVT OVERSIGHT.
