TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS WEARING. HE ALSO HEARD A LOUD CLANGING NOISE WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE TIE ROD, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND FORD REFUSES TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,200.
I OWN A 2005 2 DOOR FORD RANGER XLT. WITH APPROXIMATELY 29,000 TOTAL MILES. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED UNDER THE NEW CAR WARRANTY UNTIL AUGUST 2008 OR 30,000 TOTAL MILES. PROBLEM: THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BACK OCCASIONALLY STICKS IN THE FULL UPRIGHT OR RECLINED POSITION WHEN THE SEAT BACK RELEASE LEVER IS PULLED UP, (ACTIVATED). IT TAKES UP TO SEVERAL MINUTES OF JIGGLING THE BACK AND RELEASE LEVER TO GET THE BACK TO SWING FORWARD. ALSO THE RELEASE LEVER HAS BEEN FOUND TO STICK IN A POSITION THAT WON'T ALLOW THE BACK TO MOVE. OUR GRANDSONS HAVE BEEN RIDING IN BACK AT TIMES, (UNTIL I REALIZED THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF NOT ALLOWING THEM TO EXIT IN A HURRY). I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALER, (I WILL GO THERE TOMORROW FOR THE FORTH TIME) TO HAVE THE MECHANISM FIXED OR THE SEAT REPLACED. THE DEALER STATES THAT THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT OCCURS WHEN THEY ARE WORKING ON THE TRUCK. THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I BELIEVE. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALER, VERBALLY, OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER, BUT THEY APPEAR TO BE ADVERSE TO MAKING A CORRECTION. I COULD FIND NO RECALL NOTICE OR OTHER INFORMATION OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH TWO OLDER RANGERS I OWNED IN THE PAST. *TR
ON ABOUT JANUARY 24 ,2008 I WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT WHERE I HIT SOME BLACK ICE AND SLID OF THE ROAD AND RUN IN TO A BANK AND DID ALOT OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND SHOULD HAVE. THE BODY SHOP THAT FIXED IT THEY SHOULD HAVE AND I HURT MY CHEST WHEN I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD RANGER. WHEN IT RAINS, WATER ENTERS THE MOTOR AND FREEZES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, RENDERING THEM INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL MARCH OF 2008, BUT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR IS NOT. THE COST TO REPAIR THE MOTOR IS $105.04. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,574. INERTIA SWITCH CONTINUES TO FAIL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I'VE HAD THIS SWITCH GO OFF SO MANY TIMES, I'M HESITANT TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY TRUCK! LAST NIGHT IT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWDED FREEWAY A LITTLE AFTER RUSH HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OFF THE FREEWAY DUE TO AN OFFRAMP, BUT SINCE THE BRAKES WERE PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT I SLOWLY HIT INTO A CURB. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING! TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON!!!! NOW THE SWITCH WON'T STAY OFF AND I GUESS I'LL NEED TO TAKE IT TO FORD. HOWEVER FROM READING ALL THE OTHER POSTS, NOT SURE WHAT GOOD THAT'LL DO. *TR
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES ON 2003 THROUGH 2005 FORD RANGER PICKUP TRUCKS. I HAVE OWNED A BRAND NEW 2003 FORD RANGER EDGE STANDARD CAB PICKUP AND NOW OWN A 2005 FORD RANGER XLT EXTENDED CAB PICKUP. BOTH PICKUPS I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. THE 2003 FORD RANGER, THE READ BRAKE SHOE LININGS CAME DETACHED FROM THE SHOE CAUSING DAMAGE AND HAVING TO HAVE THE BRAKE COMPONENTS REINSTALLED AT MY COST. THE 2005 FORD RANGER HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUES BUT WITH HARDWARE FAILURE OF THE SPRINGS AND TENSIONERS. BOTH SITUATIONS THE BRAKES FAILED AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE 2003 FORD RANGER, I WAS SHOWN THE SHOES BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AND TOLD THE BRAKES WOULD HAVE LASTED AT LEAST UNTIL 50,000 MILES BUT THE "SALT" FROM NY WINTERS EATS AWAY THE GLUE THAT HOLDS THE SHOE LININGS TO THE SHOE AND CAUSES IT TO SEPARATE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH FORD BRAKES ON ALL MODELS DUE TO THE WINTER SEASON. IN BOTH CASES, I HAD MY BRAKES SERVICED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND PAID TO HAVE THEM "CLEANED, INSPECTED, AND LUBRICATED" PER THE SERVICE MANUAL. I HAVE SPENT LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY WITH PROBLEMS ON MY BRAKES EVERY YEAR ON BOTH OF THESE VEHICLES THAT I OWNED. I NO LONGER OWN THE 2003 FORD RANGER BUT I CURRENTLY OWN THE 2005. IF THIS PROBLEM HAD HAPPENED DURING DRIVING, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH A VERY LARGE SUM OF MONEY TO REPLACE BRAKES THAT CONTINUE TO BE PROBLEMS ON THIS MODEL. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY AND VERY LITTLE OFF ROAD. THE PARTS IN THE BRAKES APPEAR TO BE OF LOW QUALITY AND OF MANUFACTURER DEFECT (GLUE NOT HOLDING, SPRINGS BREAKING, PARTS BREAKING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS). I THINK THERE IS SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE PARTS TO INCLUDE SPRINGS, TENSIONERS, PADS AND SHOES ON THE 2003 TO 2005 FORD RANGERS ENOUGH TO CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE OR LOSS OF LIFE DUE TO FAILURE OF COMPONENTS. *JB
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 FORD RANGER THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS WE WERE ABLE TO PICK THE FORD UP AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER THIS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON .DURING ONE OF THESE TIMES IT SHUT DOWN I WAS REAR ENDED,IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WAS THERE FOR 3 DAYS, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AS THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THE DEALER INFORMED ME THE VEHICLE HAD NO PROBLEMS, AND WAS VERY SAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO, I CONTACTED FORD , AND WAS INFORMED THERE HAVE BEEN NO OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE 2005 FORD RANGER JUST SHUTTING DOWN. THIS VEHICLE WAS FAR FROM SAFE NOT ONLY FOR THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGERS BUT ALSO FOR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. AS IT JUST SHUT OFF WHEN IT WANTEDF. *AK
2005 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE OHIO TURNPIKE SWITCHING TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE, THE BACK RIGHT TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE TRUCK SWERVED AND THE UHAUL TRAILER FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES. *MC (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT)*JB
HEADLAMP SWITCH KNOB BREAKS AND FALLS OFF. 2ND REPLACEMENT IN 2005 FORD RANGER WITH 8000 MILES. WITHOUT KNOB, IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN HEADLAMPS ON AND OFF WITHOUT PLIERS. HAD TO BUY NEW SWITCH KNOBS.
TL* THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE 2005 FORD RANGER AT 60 MPH, THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER 'S SIDE FLOOR WAS TOUCHED, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE CUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO RESET THE SWITCH. *AK
I WAS IN A FRONT END CRASH IN MY 2005 FORD RANGER WHICH HAD OVER $8000 IN REPAIRS. MY (AIR BAGS)DID NOT WORK. I HAD IT AT A FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT. THERE WAS TO ME THAT THE G FORCE WAS NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO DEPLOY. I WOULD LIKE TO IF THAT IS CORRECT. THEY TOLD ME IT COST TOO MUCH TO REPLACE THE AIR BAGS! *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND AN ODOR OF SMOKE WAS DETECTED. THE CONTACT LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED FLAMES. A PASSERBY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE CHEMICALS BEING HAULED CAUSED CORROSION TO THE FUEL TANK, CAUSING THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS A RESULT OF THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL TANK.
STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE WHEN WE SMELLED SMOKE AND SAW FLAMES OF FIRE BEHIND US BETWEEN THE CAB AND BED OF THE TRUCK. THE GAS TANK CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR MAT SLID FORWARD HITTING THE RESET BUTTON LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SUDDENLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. *AK UPDATED 09/19/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE NEARLY STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN DUE TO THE SEAT BACKS OF BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS BLOCKING OUT MOST OF THE VISIBILITY THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW. A SERVICE DEALER WAS CONSULTED, WHO INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.
PURCHASE VEHICLE JULY 2005, VEHICLE NEVER HAD A GOOD PULL TO IT AND I THOUGHT IT WAS THE WAY THE TRUCK JUST PULLED UNTIL MAY 2006 WHEN I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A FORD EXPLORER, MY TRUCK GOT WORSE. IN JUNE 2007 ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WOULDN'T GO OFF. GAS CAP LIGHT CAME ON WOULDN'T GO OFF. TRIED TO TIGHTEN CAP, LIGHTS STILL HAVEN'T WENT OFF. TOOK TRUCK TO MECHANIC FOUND OUT THAT MY TRUCK HAD A CRACKED HEAD THAT WAS INDICATED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURE AND OR POSSIBLY DUE TO COLLISION ALSO FORD MANUFACTURE HAD A DEFECT CALL BACK ON ALL 2005 FORD RANGER. IN DECEMBER 2005 FIVE MONTH AFTER I PURCHASE THE TRUCK AND THEY ( FORD) DID NOT EVEN NOTIFY ME OF THE DEFECT. I DO HAVE A COPY IN MY POSSESSION FROM MY MECHANIC. ALSO I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRUCK COULD IGNITE AND CATCH A FIRE AT ANY TIME. *TR. UPDATED 01/11/08.*LJ THERE WAS A CRACKED HEAD ON THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. UPDATED

FORD 2005 RANGER CAUGHT ON FIRE AROUND 3:00 AM. IT WAS IN A PARKING LOT. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE AREA OF THE REAR TIRE AND THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY AND UPPER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.

2005 FORD RANGER PICK UP. DIES WITHOUT ANY NOTICE AND AT ANY SPEED OR JUST AT A STOP SIGN. HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP AND HAD FUEL PUMP, VENT TUBE, INERTIA SWITCH AND A CIRCUT REPLACED. STILL ONCE IN A WHILE (NOT WEEKLY OR DAILY) IT WILL STILL FAIL. SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVEN SAID THEY WERE ONLY GUESSING WHEN IT WENT IN FOR REPAIRS AS IT WAS SHOWING A COMPUTER SIGN (SOMETIMES) OF A SECONDARY FUEL FAILURE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE TRUCK AND SHOULD BE TAKEN BACK AS A LEMON! DEALER EVEN STATED THAT FORD DOES NOT EVEN KNOW THE CAUSE. MY FAMILY MEMBERS WILL NOT EVEN DRIVE THIS TRUCK IN FEAR OF GETTING IN A WRECK OR STRANDED. SHOULD BE RETURNED AND CRUSHED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN IT. DOES NO GOOD TO CONTINUE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP OR CALL FORD AS THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!
FORD DECIDED TO NOT INCLUDE REAR INNER WHEEL WELL SPLASH SHIELDS IN THE PICK-UP BEDS FOR THE 2005 MODEL YEAR, THE REAR WHEELS NOW 'INJECT' ROAD LIQUIDS INTO THE BED THROUGH OPENINGS IN THE BED SEAM UNDER THE CAP RAIL. IF A PERSON HAS A SHELL OR COVER ON THE BED ANY CONTENTS LIVE OR NOT ARE EXPOSED TO WHATEVER IS SPLASHED IN SEATTLE BECAUSE OF THE RAIN, I GROW MOLD IF I USE A SHELL. *JB
THE EMERGENCY FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH ON OUR NEW 2005 FORD RANGER IS EASILY BROKEN BY A 6 FOOT TALL PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WE HAVE ALREADY BROKEN THE SWITCH JUST BY HAVING MY 6' 3" SON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT IS RIGHT WHERE THE FEET OF A TALL PERSON WOULD NATURALLY GO. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF IT WAS BROKEN ON A CROWDED FREEWAY. *JB
REAR PASSENGER SAFETY RESTRAINTS ARE NOT ADEQUATE TO PREVENT INJURY OF PASSENGERS. PASSENGERS BUMP THEIR HEADS ON REAR WINDOW IF DRIVER MUST BRAKE QUICKLY OR ACCELERATE RAPIDLY. SO FAR ONLY MILD INJURY, BUT CANNOT USE THE VEHICLE FOR CARRYING THREE OR MORE PASSENGERS AS WAS THE INTENT WHEN TRUCK WAS PURCHASED. *AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 05 FORD RANGER ON SEPTEMBER 12 OF THIS YEAR. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE I EXPERIENCE HEADACHES AND SOME HEARING PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS CAUSED BY THIS VEHICLE. WHEN I DID NOT USE IT FOR A FEW DAYS THIS WENT AWAY. NOW THAT I AM USING THE VEHICLE AGAIN THESE HAVE RETURNED. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS YOUR AREA, BUT IT MIGHT HAVE SOME IMPORTANCE. *JB
NORMAL DRIVING ON ROUGH PAVEMENT, ALSO NORMAL DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IN BOTH CASES THE FUEL SYSTEM SHUT-OFF SWITCH (INERTIA SWITCH) TRIPPED SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. *NM
REPAIRED CAR IN SHOP THREE TIMES FOR A SAFETY FUEL SWITCH WHICH KEPT GOING OFF. SWITCH SHUT OFF ON THE FREEWAY AND CRASHED INTO THE MIDDLE DIVIDER. *NM
ON MAY 6,2005 OUR TRUCK JUST DIED, TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE INERTIA NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE SWITCH WAS SENSITIVE AND WENT OFF. USUALLY INERTIA SWITCHES ARE TO PREVENT FUEL FROM GETTING TO THE ENGINE WHEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. OUR TRUCK WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND JUST DIED. THE DEALER JUST RESET THE SWITCH. ON JUNE 28 OUR TRUCK DIED WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP DECIDED TO PUT A NEW INERTIA SWITCH IN. ON AUGUST 29, 2005 OUR INERTIA SWITCH KEPT SWITCHING OFF. NOW WE HAVE A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIPS PAPERWORK. WAITED 3 DAYS UNTIL JULY 1, 2005 FOR A NEW INERTIA SWITCH. REPLACED SWITCH. ON AUGUST 23,2005 INERTIA SWITCH KEPT TURNING OFF AGAIN! FURIOUS MY WIFE AND I CALLED THE MANAGER 10 MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING AND ASKED WHERE THE LOCATION OF THE SWITCH IS SO WE COULD TURN OUR TRUCK ON AGAIN. THEY TOLD US AND SAID TO CALL IN THE MORNING TO SET UP AN APPOINT TO REPLACE THE INERTIA SWITCH AGAIN. A WEEK LATER THEY REPLACED THE PART AGAIN! WE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SITUATION BECAUSE WE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW FOR OUR SON TO DRIVE TO SCHOOL/WORK AND NOW WE WERE WORRIED FOR HIS SAFETY. UNFORTUNATELY ON SEPTEMBER 9,2005 ARE FEARS CAME TRUE. OUR SON WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE DIED AND HE AVOIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER GOING AROUND 70 MPH. MY 2005 FORD RANGER 4 CYLINDER 5 SPEED ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS REQUIRING MORE FOOT PRESSURE THAN NORMAL TO ACCELERATE AND MAKING ME OVER ACCELERATE TO GET THE CAR TO START MOVING. *NM
THE INERTIA SWITCH ON MY 2005 FORD RANGER KEEPS TRIPPING. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN 3 TIMES NOW. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T START AND SOMETIMES IT DIES WHILE I'M DRIVING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE INERTIA SWITCH REPLACED ONCE. THE DEALERSHIP SHOWED ME HOW TO RESET IT SO THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY WHEN IT DIES WHILE I'M DRIVING. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD RANGER. UPON INSPECTION THE CONTACT NOTICED RUST ON THE REAR FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS COVERED WITH RUST BUT IT WAS COVERED UNDER A TEN YEAR RUST WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED NOR WAS THE DEFECT DIAGNOSED. THE RUST ON THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3000.
DT: 2005 FORD RANGER EDGE SUPERCAB WHILE DRIVING ON DIRT ROAD ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR, TURNING LEFT ONTO MY STREET THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. A FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS A MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH FUEL INERTIA SWITCH. THE CONSUMER KNOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO AT LEAST 2 OTHER PEOPLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE CONSUMER'S HOUSE. WE READ THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE RESET SWITCH FOR THE FUEL INERTIA SWITCH WAS PUSHED AND THEN CAR STARTED BACK UP. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR AND THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. *NM
3 TIMES GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE TRUCK DIED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. ALL 3 TIMES WAS THE INERTIA SWITCH. THE OTHER TIME THEY REPLACED PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. ALL THIS ON A NEW TRUCK I'VE HAD FOR 6 WEEKS. THE TRUCK ISN'T SAFE. GO OUT INTO HEAVY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC GOING 65 AND SHUT YOUR VEHICLE OFF. IT ISN'T GOOD. THEY WANT ME TO TRY IT AGAIN. I CAN'T PUT MY FAMILY OR MYSELF IN THAT POSITION AGAIN.
DT: CONTACT STATED THERE IS VIBRATION IN THE REAR END OF VEHICLE WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. THE SERVICE DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY DID REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE ENGINES SHUTS OFF WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN 20 TO 30 TIMES OVER THE LIFE IF THE VEHICLE. HAS HAD 4 INERTIA SWITCHES INSTALLED. FORD HAS CLAIMED " INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS ARE NOT OUR PROBLEM." MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS HAVE ALSO SAID THAT IT DOESN'T "THROW A CODE" AND IS THEREFORE NOT IN NEED IF BEING FIXED JUST "A QUIRKY VEHICLE." I'VE ALSO BEEN TOLD THE ONLY WAY TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO BUY A NEW TRUCK. *TR
DEAR SIRS; I AM A NIGHT SHIFT AUTOWORKER AT FORD RANGER PLANT IN ST PAUL. MY JOB IS TO BUILD AND MOUNT A SWAYBAR ON THE REAR AXLE. FOR OVER A YEAR I HAVE EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS TO MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE PROPER ANGLE TO MOUNT THE SWAYBAR BRACKETS. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN STONEWALLED, TOLD THINGS LIKE "IT DOESEN'T MATTER". IT DOES MATTER TO OUR CUSTOMERS. THEY WANT THAT SWAYBAR TO BE PERFECT. IT MIGHT MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IF THERE HAS TO BE A HARD SWERVE TO AVOID A DEER OR CHILD IN THE ROAD. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME NUMERICAL POINT OF REFERENCE ON RECORD IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS GUIDELINES. THE OPERATOR EITHER NEEDS A TONGUE AND GROOVE SYSTEM ON THE AXLE AND SWAYBAR BRACKET AND/OR SOME TYPE OF FIXTURE THAT WOULD ACT AS A GUIDE TO INSURE THE CORRECT ANGLE IS ACHIEVED FOR EVERY BUILD PROCESS. THERE ALSO NEEDS TO BE AN INSTRUMENT THAT CAPABLE OF CHECKING EACH ONE FOR CORRECT ANGLE. *NM
TAKATA RECALL: JULY 2015: RECEIVED LETTER FROM FORD AND I WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. NOVEMBER 2017: CALLED SEVERAL FORD DEALERS IN KANSAS CITY AREA AND PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE.
CONSUMER COMPLAINT REGARDING, WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AT OR ONTO A ROAD THAT ANGLES, HE CAN NOT SEE APPROACHING VEHICLES. 2005 FORD RANGER. *TS THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRUCK HAS VERY HIGH SEATS AND SMALL WINDOWS, THE SEATS BLOCK THE CONSUMERS VIEW. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEATS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESIGNED WITH ADJUSTABLE HEAD RESTS. *JB
