WAITING OVER 2 YEARS FOR THIS AIR BAG TO BE FIXED
MONDAY 6/3/13 WENT TO START CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. YOU HEAR CLICKING IN THE FUSE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PUT KEY TO JUST BEFORE START OR ACCESSORIES AND THE LIGHTS COME ON AND RADIO TURNS ON BUT IF YOU TOUCH THE BREAKS IT ALL SHORTS OUT. TURN THE KEY TO START AND IT ALL SHORTS OUT AND FUSE AREA STARTS CLICKING. DROVE THE CAR SUNDAY NIGHT AND IT WAS FINE. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH ANYTHING ON THIS TRUCK UNTIL MONDAY MORNING WHEN I WENT TO GO SOMEWHERE. TOTALLY BAFFLED ON WHAT'S WRONG. ONLY THING I KNOW IS IT RAINED ON SUNDAY NIGHT MONDAY AM?????? ITS SEEMS LIKE THE GROUND IS SHORTING THINGS OUT . *TR
THE TRUCKS FRAME IS RUSTING AWAY ALONG WITH UNDERSIDE OF BED FRAME, RADIATOR FRAME IS ROTTING AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SNEEZED AND CRASHED INTO THE CURB WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO BOUNCE ONTO THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS NECK, SHOULDER AND A MINOR CONCUSSION. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 78,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE MAKING A NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGN OF EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER PICKUP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEELS WERE RUSTED DUE TO A COLLECTION OF RAIN. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE TIRES WOULD NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE TRACTION WHEN DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
2008 FORD RANGER. CONSUMER STATES ABS BRAKES ARE SUBJECT TO DUST ACCUMULATION WHICH CAUSES THE ANTI-LOCKING BRAKES TO LOCK THE BACK WHEELS AND THE TRUCK SLIDES TO A STOP *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES HAD TO BE SERVICED TWICE TO GET THE DUST BLOWN OUT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER OWNED A 2008 FORD RANGER. WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE AT 35 MPH ON A WET ROAD HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND CRASH INTO SOME ROCKS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THEN LANDED BACK ON THE WHEELS. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT AND DIED ON THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS CALLED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND SOME FORMS FOR HER TO COMPLETE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER SPORT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN HE CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER REPAIRS, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED STATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,770 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,685.
I HAD A FRONT END IMPACT WITH A DIRT EMBANKMENT GOING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH HEAD ON AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY TRUCK SUSTAINED AROUND $15,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THEY CLAIM THAT MY HUSBANDS PASSENGER WAS NOT HEAVY ENOUGH TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS , HE WEIGHED AROUND 189 PDS. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG SENSORS AND MODULES. NOW WHEN SOMEONE SITS IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT IT SAYS THAT IT IS NOT ACTIVATED. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS TRUCK ANY MORE. MY HUSBAND BROKE HIS BACK IN 2 SPOTS AND RUPTURED 2 DISKS, HE HAD TO HAVE BACK SURGERY AND I THINK IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THIS WOULD NOT OF HAPPENED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER XL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE STEERING COLUMN STARTED SHAKING. THE FAILURE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN COMING OFF A DOWN HILL RAMP CURVING TO THE RIGHT WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE COMPOSITION OF THE MATERIAL MADE UP OF THE VEHICLES ROTORS, THE STEEL NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH, LEADING TO EARLY FAILURE OF THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ROTATE THE TIRES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE TREAD WAS "CHOPPING" OR UNEVEN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRE WEAR WAS A RESULT OF PULLING HIS TRAILER ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING THE TRAILER PULLING DEVICE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CARRY BETWEEN 3,000-3,500 LBS. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES, WHICH WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS INSTRUCTED BY FORD TO ADJUST THE TORSION BAR. THE FAILURE WAS DISCOVERED TO BE A MECHANICAL ISSUE, RATHER THAN A TIRE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,300 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,136. UPDATED 09/23/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD SWAY AND VIBRATE DUE TO THE CHOPPED TIRES. UPDATED 10/01/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR MAKES A LOUD RATTLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. AFTER CAREFUL INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DOOR MOVES AS IF IT IS NOT PROPERLY LATCHED. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR DURING THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,200.
FIRST, WITH THE NON-TILTING STEERING WHEEL LOCATED WHERE IT IS, WITH A TALLER PERSON IT IS DIFFICULT-TO- IMPOSSIBLE TO LIFT THE FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND TRANSFER IT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE DRIVER'S KNEES ENDS UP IMPACTING THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS MAKES IT NECESSARY TO JUST DO A SORT OF HEEL-ON-THE-FLOOR-FOOT-TILT-OR-SLIDE TO GO FROM THE GAS TO THE BRAKE WITHOUT STEERING WHEEL/KNEE INTERFERENCE. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM IN THE FORD'S WE HAVE WHICH HAVE TILT STEERING WHEELS SECOND, A VISUAL CHECK SHOWS THAT THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS ARE CLOSE TOGETHER AT NEARLY THE SAME HEIGHT. FROM A 'STEP OVER' POINT OF VIEW THIS SHOULD BE A GOOD THING, BUT IT RESULTS IN LITTLE 'FEEL' FOR WHERE YOUR FOOT IS ACTUALLY PLACED WHEN ONE GOES TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE HEEL-TO-THE-FLOOR-FOOT-TILT-OR-SLIDE METHOD NECESSITATED BY THE LOW STEERING WHEEL POSITION. THIS CAN AND DOES RESULT IN PRESSING BOTH PEDALS SIMULTANEOUSLY. IN ONE DAY OF DRIVING I MANAGED TO DO THE 'BOTH PEDAL PRESS' THREE TIMES, ANY ONE OF WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCELERATION INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE OBJECT. *TR
PURCHASED 2008 FORD RANGER--HAD TRUCK ABOUT 4 MOS.- TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE-TRUCK WAS DROVE WHEN PARKED MY HUSBAND SMELLED GAS-LOOKED UNDER TRUCK SAW GAS LEAKING ABOVE GAS TANK AREA-WENT INTO HOUSE-CHILDREN WENT OUTSIDE TO PLAY-YELLED A SAID TRUCK WAS ON FIRE-HUSBAND USED GARDEN HOSE TO PUT OUT FIRE-I CALLED 911 FIRE TRUCK WERE DISPATCHED THEY CONTINUED TO SPRAY WATER TO ENSURE FIRE WAS OUT-HAULED TO DEALER LOT ON 6/16/08 TRUCK STILL THERE-REQUESTED A BUY BACK FROM FORD-SINCE THEY HAVE MADE 2 GOODWILL OFFERS NEITHER OF WHICH WERE ACCEPTABLE. *TR
THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY, 750-850 MILES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS , THE TRUCKS (RPMS) GOES UP, 1200 RPMS. IF THERE IS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER SHIP (4) TIMES NOW. FORD HAS HAD THEIR ENGINEERS, COME OUT AND TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. FORD HAS EVEN REPLACED THE DASH WIRE HARNESS, AND THE TRUCK HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT THE TRUCK, CAN CAUSE A CRASH. THE FIRST TIME WAS 3-21-08 , SECOND TIME 4-07-08, THIRD TIME 4-24-08, FOURTH TIME 6-02-08. THE SAID TRUCK ONLY HAS 44,43 MILES. NO INCIDENT YET. I'M FEARFUL THAT THERE WILL BE AN INCIDENT. *TR
2008 FORD RANGER. HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW (6) TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE RPM'S GO UP, THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER, AND STALLS. SOME TIMES WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I'M IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE RPM'S GO UP SO HIGH, THAT I HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH TIME, TRYING TO GET THE THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 5949 MILES ON IT. THIS TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR (8) DAYS. FORD CALLED, AND SAID THE TUCK WAS READY/ REPAIRED. DROVE THE TRUCK 83 MILES. SAME PROBLEM. NOW IT SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M WONDERING WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, NEXT? THIS ALL STARTED AT 749 MILES. FORD EVEN SENT THERE ENGINEERS OUT TO REPLACE THE DASH CLUSTER HARNESS. DIDN'T WORK. FORD ENGINEERS CAME BACK OUT , AND CHANGED THE FUEL SENSOR. THAT DIDN'T WORK. FORD ENGINEERS CHANGED THE 4022 AND THE 2022 PINS. STILL DIDN'T WORK. THEY HAVE RETESTED THE SYSTEM. SAME PROBLEM TIME AFTER TIME. THEY NOW REFUSE TO LEMON LAW THE TRUCK. HOW MUCH MORE OF THIS, SHOULD I HAVE TO TAKE, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONS. TALKED WITH EVERYONE, YOU COULD POSSIBLE THINK OF. BUT IT NEVER GETS REPAIRED RIGHT. *TR
ONE YEAR SINCE AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED AND NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE!
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE SIDE DOORS ARE DAMAGED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE OCCUPANTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL LATCH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THERE HAS BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. UPDATED 06/23/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CAN NO SEAT 3 PEOPLE IN THE FRONT BECAUSE THE CENTER SEAT'S FOOT SPACE IS FIILLED BY A PLASTIC TRY ON THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE REAR HALF DOORS WERE DESOGNED TO NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE.
TAKATA RECALL. WAITING FOR YEARS, REMEDY STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I WOULD THINK THAT AT THE VERY LEAST THE EXISTING AIR BAG SHOULD BE INACTIVATED. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
TAKATA RECALL........NOTHING HAS HAPPENED ,THAT IS WHY I AM COMPLAINING.I WANT THIS FIXED,CANNOT USE IT TO CARRY A PASSENGER AT THIS POINT.FORD IS WASTING TIME.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD RANGER WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER 235/75/R15 TIRES. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED INTO THE RIGHT LANE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SHE OBSERVED THAT THE TIRES ARE FOR PASSENGER VEHICLES AND NOT FOR LIGHT PICK UP TRUCKS. THE DEALER STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE FULL PRICE FOR NEW TIRES. TAKATA RECALL= I WAS ALERTED VIA LETTER N JULY 2006 TO AN AIRBAG HAZARD WITHIN MY VEHICLE. THE LETTER BASICALLY STATED THAT AIRBAG MALFUNCTION IN MY VEHICLE MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH TO ME OR MY PASSENGERS. READING INFO FROM FORD'S WEBSITE IT IS STATED THAT VEHICLES WITH THE HIGHEST RISK OF AIRBAG MALFUNCTION ARE THOSE IN AREAS OF HIGH HUMIDITY AND HIGH HEAT CYCLING. I LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA. I THINK IT IS SAFE TO SAY I LIVE IN ONE OF THOSE HIGH RISK AREAS. NOW? I ONLY OWN ONE VEHICLE SO, I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THIS ONE REGARDLESS OF PERIL. ALSO FORD HAS STATED TO ME THAT THE NTSA HAS SAID THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY. THAT DOES NOT SEEM ALTOGETHER RIGHT. IF I SHOULD GET INJURED OR DIE THE BLAME WOULD LIE PARTIALLY WITH THE NTSA. IS FORD SPEAKING FOR THE NTSA? I JUST WANNA KNOW SO I CAN SUE YOU TOO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS.
