VEHICLE EXPERIENCED RECALL RELATED FAILURE TO THE SUB-FRAME SUPPORT BUSHINGS PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE, HOWEVER THE BUSHINGS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL NOTICE ONLY SUB-FRAME, DENIED REFUND ON BUSHINGS. (98V-323).
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON BUSY FREEWAY. FORD SHOULD BE DEMANDED TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS.
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AND COMING OFF A RAMP, VEHICLE STARTS STALLING AND JERKING. THE CONSUMER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE ENTIRE ROTOR DETACHED FROM THE STEEL HUB AT THE ATTACHMENT POINT. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE SECOND ROTOR REVEALED THE THAT IT TO WAS FAILING.

MY COMPRESSER WENT OUT WITHIN A FEW MONTHES OF ME BUYING THE CAR. WHEEL BEARINGS ARE OUT, AND AIRBAG LIGHT WON'T QUIT BLINKING THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $400 TO FIND OUT WHY.ALSO, REAR DEFROSTER NEVER WORKED I HAVE REPLACED THE SHOCKS/STRUTS/ BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS. *AK

SUBFRAME MOUNT/CRADLE BOLTS/CORRODED/FAILED, CAUSING CRADLE TO DROP PRIOR TO RECALL NOTIFICATION, CAUSED STEERING TO LOCK UP, ALSO DAMAGED TRANSMISSION WHICH LATER HAD TO BE REPLACED. (98V-323)
THE BODY MOUNTS AT THE CORNER OF THE SUBFRAME BECAME DETACHED FROM THE SUBFRAME MOUNT RETAINING PLATE, CAUSING THE REAR SUBFRAME TO DROP, RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. OWNER HAS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A REPAIR UNDER A RECALL WAS MADE 2/22/94 (93V-106-002). *AK
TRANMISSION FAILED DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGNED FRONT PUMP INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED.
IN APRIL 1998, OUR 1991 FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON'S TRANSMISSION FAILED DESPITE HAVING ONLY 61,518 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. WE INCURRED OVER $2,100 IN EXPENSES REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS THEN OUT OF WARRANTY. OUR TRANSMISSION SHOP TOLD US THAT THIS CAR SUFFERED FROM A DESIGN DEFECT, IN THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT HAVE A SUFFICIENT COOLING SYSTEM, AND THAT IF THE TRANSMISSION BECAME HOT IT COULD FAIL UPON HAVING TO SHIFT GEARS AT SLOWER SPEEDS. THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CAR; MY WIFE HAD COMPLETED A LONG, HIGHWAY TRIP, AND THE TRANSMISSION SIMPLY FAILED AND LOCKED UP AFTER SHE EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND BEGAN STOP AND GO DRIVING. SHE WAS ACTUALLY PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. IN AUGUST 1999, I DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAD ACTUALLY SENT OUT A LETTER IN 1995 ADVISING OF AN EXTENSION OF ITS WARRANTY ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO REPEATED FAILURES. I SENT A LETTER ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT AT THAT TIME, SINCE OUR CAR HAD BEEN ONLY 1,518 MILES OVER THE 60,000 LIMIT AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, BUT I RECEIVED A REPLY FROM FORD REFUSING TO PROVIDE ANY REIMBURSEMENT WHATSOEVER. I TOOK NO ACTION AT THAT TIME, BUT RECENTLY, THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR FAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH ONLY 79,400 MILES (ABOUT 18,300 MILES SINCE PREVIOUS FAILURE) AND WE HAVE INCURRED ANOTHER $2,300 IN REPAIR EXPENSE, DESPITE OUR HAVING TAKEN MORE THAN ADEQUATE CARE OF THIS CAR. WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY RECOURSE FOR THESE EXTRAORDINARY EXPENSES, GIVEN THAT FORD APPARENTLY WAS AWARE OF A DEFECT IN ITS TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS MODEL OF CAR, YET FAILED TO OFFER A RECALL OR REPLACEMENT AND FAILED TO REIMBURSE US ADEQUATELY IN THE PAST. THIS CAR HAS TOO FEW MILES, AND HAS BEEN CARED FOR TOO WELL, SIMPLY TO JUNK IT, BUT WITH THE ONGOING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IT HAS BECOME A CAR WE CAN NEITHER USE NOR SELL. *AK
I HAVE FAILED TO UNDERSTAND WHY ALL I HAVE HAD WITH MY VEHICLE WAS PROBLEMS TILL THIS DAY. *AK

DURING COLLISION VIOLENT DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG RESULTING IN DETACHMENT FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND EXPLODED CAUSING INJURIES TO FACE OF CONSUMER.
MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES. OWNER TOOK VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION . *AK
I PULLED INTO TRAFFIC AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T HOLD SECOND GEAR--IT WOULDN'T GO INTO ANY OTHER GEAR EITHER. IF I TAKE OFF IN MANUAL LOW--ACCELERATE AND DROP IT INTO DRIVE IT WILL GO USUALLY. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IN 1996 AND THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN 1998. I HAVEN'T BEEN FINANCIALLY ABLE TO GET IT FIXED AGAIN. I LEARNED OF A RECALL THEY HAD ON THIS TRANSMISSION--CAN I GET IT FIXED? IT IS DEFINITELY DANGEROUS. *AK
WHENEVER VEHICLE IS AT A STOP TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE AS IF IN NEUTRAL. THEN WOULD REV UP WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THEN WOULD JERK & VEHICLE WOULD MOVE. TOOK TO DEALER & INFORMED THEY DID NOT KNOW OF ANY SUCH PROBLEM & WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR IT. *AK

SHORT IN AIRBAG MONITOR SYSTEM CAUSED THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO BLINK CONSTANTLY. NM
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY CAN'T PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. *AK

TRANSMISSION FAILED. THIS TRANSMISSION WAS UNDER A RECALL NOTICE. THE RECALL COVERED TRANSMISSIONS WITH UP TO 60,000 MILES, THIS ONE DID NOT FAIL UNTIL 69,155 MILES.
REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FALL DOWN A TLOW SPEED PRIOR TO RECALL, RECALL REPAIRS REFUSED DUE TO MAKE/MODEL/YEAR (93V-106.002). *AK
AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO BE ILLUMINATED. THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION AT THIS TIME. *AK
OUR FIRESTONE TIRES FAILED IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS THE CURRENTLY RECALLED TIRES. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE 210 FWY IN PASADENA AFTER AN HOUR-LONG DRIVE ON A HOT DAY IN SEPT. OUR TIRE "EXPLODED" IN AN UNUSUAL WAY: THE TREAD SIMPLY CAME DETACHED FROM THE TIRE. IT WAS NOT A "BLOW-OUT" IN THE USUAL SENSE--THE TIRE BENEATH THE TREAD WAS UNDAMAGED. THE TIRE WAS RELATIVELY NEW WITH MUCH TREAD-DEPTH LEFT ON IT. WHEN THE TREAD DETACHED, IT STRUCK THE REAR END OF THE CAR AND ACTIVATED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN. THANKFULLY, WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FWY, BUT WERE IN EXTREME DANGER OF BEING REAR-ENDED, POSSIBLY LEADING TO INJURIES OR DEATH. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED TO OUR FIRESTONE TIRES. ALL FOUR OF THE ORIGINAL FIRSTONE TIRES WE HAD PURCHASED IN 1993 HAD LOST TREAD IN THE SAME WAY, AND HAD BEEN REPLACED BY THE FIRESTONE DEALER AT A REDUCED COST (THE REAR 2 TIRES IN 1995 AND THE FRONT 2 IN 1997, ALL OF THEM FR680 205/65R15). THE DEALER ASSURED US THAT THE REPLACMENT TIRES WOULD PERFORM WELL. BUT ALL FAILED IN THE SAME WAY--THE TREAD CAME DETACHED, SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY. MY TRUST IN FIRESTONE LEAD ME TO REPLACE ALL THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES WITH IDENTICAL MODELS, BELIEVING THAT THE FIRST 4 MUST HAVE BEEN "FLUKES" AND THAT THE OTHERS WOULD BE FINE. BUT THEY WERE NOT; THE 5TH REPLACEMENT WAS THE LAST STRAW, WE SOLD THE CAR IN DECEMBER 1997 AND NEVER AGAIN PURCHASED FIRESTONES. PLEASE PLACE THESE TIRES UNDER SCRUTINY AS WELL, THERE MAY BE SEVERAL PEOPLE IN 4-DOOR SEDANS DRIVING WITH THESE UNSAFE TIRES.( DOT NUMBER: FR680 TIRE SIZE: 205/65R15 )

WHEN DRIVING LOST ALL POWER AND THERE WAS A LEAKAGE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN, CAUSING ANOTHER VEHICLE TO ALMOST HIT THE CONSUMER DUE TO THE HESITATION. DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REPLACED FOUR TIMES. ALSO, REPLACED TRANSAXLE. *AK
THE VEHICLE BECOMES VERY HARD TO STEER WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A DEFECT IN RACK AND PINION. *AK
