WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, OPENED HOOD AND FLAME SSHOT OUT, USED FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT OUT FIRE. *AK
THE DEALER CORRECTED THE RECALL PROBLEM IN 94 AND THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER AGAIN. NOW THE DEALER WANTS THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR THE RECALL PROBLEM, CONSUMER THINKS THAT THE DEALER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. *AK
HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER. WAS INFORMED THAT MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CRACKED & BROKEN & NEEDED REPLACING. MOTOR MOUNTS NEED REPLACING AGAIN FOR SAME PROBLEM. HAD TO REPLACE AXLES, FRONT DISC BRAKES ROTORS & CV BOOTS. REPLACED ALSO, ACCORDING TO MECHANIC.
TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY FAILED ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED; NEEDED TO BE REPLACED/ PAINT IS PEELING FROM ALL LATERAL SURFACES OF CAR DUE TO MANUFACTURERS DEFECT
ANTILOCK BRAKE PEDAL NOT COMPLETELY RETURNING, REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER/POWER BRAKE BOOSTER.
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHES CONSTANTLY.
TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP, CAUSING COMPLETE FAILURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS.

WHILE DRIVING 55-60 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN WITHOUT APPLICATION, AND THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. BRAKE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP TO RECTIFY PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT SHE WAS STRUCK ON THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO HER FACE AND HER ARM. SHE HAD TO HAVE A SKIN GRAFT DONE BECAUSE OF THIS.*AK
ABS BRAKES OVERHEATED AFTER 50MILES OF DRIVING . CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO BRAKE SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BUT PARTIALLY MELTED DOWN, ROTORS, PADS, CALIPERS AND CALIPERS PINS HAD TO BE REPLACED.*JB
PARKED VEHICLE IN A RAMP GARAGE, VEHICLE WAS HOT, RESTARTED VEHICLE, STARTED TO DRIVE VEHICLE, SMELLED SMOKE/ELECTRICAL BURNING, SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER HOOD AND BENEATH CAR, MADE POPPING SOUNDS, TURNED VEHICLE OFF; IGNITION SWITCH WAS EXTREMELY HOT*AK
TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED FROM DRIVE GEAR 4 TIMES, CAUSING A LOSS OF FORWARD MOTION.

REAR HATCH LATCH POST FAILED, DUE TO BEING MOUNTED IN THIN SHEET METAL.
TRANSAXLE FIRE PRIOR TO RECALL, RECALL NOTICE NEVER RECEIVED.

WHILE COMING OFF A FREEWAY RAMP THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAME OFF. ALL 5 LUGS WERE SHEARED OFF. *AK
RECIEVED A RECALL LETTER AND HAD RECALL WORK DONE AND THE TRANSMISSION KEEPS FAILING. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK

I AM REPORTING MY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT PEOPLE, THAT HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE 1991 TRANSMISSIONS IN FORD'S WERE"KNOWN TO BE BAD" . I AM A SINGLE INCOME PERSON WITH 3 KIDS. I PAID SOMEONE $1200 TO FIX MY TRANSSMISSION. I DROVE IT LESS THAN 1 WEEEK AND IT WENT AGAIN. I CALLED THE PERSON AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND NOW HE HAS HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 1 YEAR BECAUSE HE CANNOT FIX IT AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY AGAIN TO GET IT FIXED. I KNOW THAT IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. BUT!! I FEEL THAT BECAUSE I HAVE CALLED AND TALKED TO SO MANY PEOPLE (DEALERS, TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS AND OTHER OWNERS OF 1991 FORD TAURUS') AND THEY ALL HAVE SAID THE SAME THING. THAT THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE BAD AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX, AND THAT ALOT OF TIMES EVEN WHEN FIXED (LIKE IN MY CASE, I BELIEVE) THEY CANNOT BE FIXED PROPERLY. SO, AS OF RIGHT NOW I AM OUT A CAR THAT I PAID $7,100 FOR AND THE $1200 DOLLARS FOR A TRANSMISSION. THE PERSON I HAD FIX MY TRANSSMISSION IS A CERTIFIED TRANSSMISSION SPECIALIST BUT I KNOW HE DID HIS JOB IN TRYING TO FIX IT. NOW HE DOESN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO TRY TO FIX IT AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE!! I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBITY FOR THE 1991 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
