I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC RECENTLY THAT MY VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE. HE SHOWED ME THE REAR SUBFRAME BOLT THAT WAS DETERIORATED TO ABOUT HALF OF ITS ORIGINAL SIZE AND THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED HEAVILY AND CRACKED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THIS WAS AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE ON MY VEHICLE IN 1999 FOR NHTSA ARTICLE NO. 98V323000. SO THE WORK THAT WAS DONE TO KEEP THE SUBFRAME FROM FALLING IS NOT HOLDING UP AND IT APPEARS THAT IT COULD BREAK SOON. *JB
I WAS NOTIFIED BY MY MECHANIC THAT MY 1991 TAURUS-STATION WAGON HAD A RECALL REGARDING THE SUB-FRAME. HE SUGGESTED I CALL RIZZO-FORD IN NO. PROVIDENCE, R.I. ON MINERAL SPRING AVE. WHEN I CALLED I SPOKE TO REPRESENTATIVE RICK MARRCONTE AND HE AGREED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND HE WOULD FIX MY CAR, BRING IT IN HE SAID. A FEW DAYS LATER RICK CALLS ME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT NOT ONLY THE NUT OF THE SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED, BUT ALSO THE SUBFRAME ITSELF WAS ROTTED AND IT WOULD COST $900.00 TO FIX AND HE TOLD ME MY CAR WAS NOT WORTH IT. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I PLAYED PHONE TAG WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY HOT LINE WHICH SEEMED LIKE FOREVER. A SHEILA INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR IF THE COMPANY AGREED TO REPAIR IT. SHE LATER EXPLAINED THEY REFUSED TO FIX MY CAR. THIS FAULT IN MY CAR ALMOST HAD ME AND MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDSON IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I TOLD THE WOMAN SHEILA THIS SHE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHEN BUYING THIS CAR THAT I SHOULD HAVE CALLED TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE RECALLS. THIS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND...SHE WANTED ME TO CALL AND FIND OUT IF MY CAR WAS A 'LEMON'? NOW BECAUSE THIS DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP ME IT NOW MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO PERHAPS GO TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP THAT MAY HAVE BE ABLE TO HELP ME. I AM A STUDENT @ URI/CCE, ALSO WORKING, AND TAKING CARE OF MY 80 YEAR OLD FATHER. PRIOR TO THIS DAMAGE I HAD JUST FIX THIS CAR FOR $750.00, WHICH I COULD NOT AFFORD IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHILE DRIVING A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THE CRADLE MOUNTING WASHER AND BOLTS RUSTED. DEALER INSTALLED SUB FRAMES REAR MOUNT BOLTS, REINFORCEMENT PLATES AND REPLACED NUTS. *AK *CB *JB
THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE CARRIAGE BOLT HAD BROKEN, CAUSING THE FRAME TO DROP DOWN ON THE STEERING, CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING. MR RECALL#93V106002 SCC

REAR SUBFRAME BOLTS HAD CORRODED. THIS CAUSED THE FRAME TO DROP. PROBLEM HAPPENED WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM FUEL PUMP. NO RECALLS. *AK
SUBFRAME TO BODY MOUNT BOLTS REPEATEDLY BECAME CORRODED AND RUST OUT. CONSUMER HAS HAD TO REPLACE SUBFRAME S ON ALL THREE OF FORD, TAURUS NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED. HOWEVER ,THIS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL. (VIN #'S FOR VEHICLES: [XXX], [XXX], AND [XXX].) WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THE SUBFRAME DROP FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE CAUSING NO STEERING ABILITY WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE HITTING A POLE. *YC
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND THERE WAS A VIBRATION WITHIN THE STEERING. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WORK WAS DONE, THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. RECALL 93V106.002. *AK
RECEIVED RECALL 98V323000. CONTACTED DEALER & TOOK VEHICLE IN ON APPOINTED DAY. REPAIRS WERE DONE. AFTER RECEIVING VEHICLE, THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED ON SUBFRAME. THE FRAME WOULD SHIFT & MAKE NOISE. WOULD BEND STEERING WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS.AK
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 98V323000 & CONTACTED DEALER. AFTER ARRIVING WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PARTS. DID NOT FURNISH DATE WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. DEALER SAID HE ONLY RECEIVED ENOUGH PARTS FOR VEHICLES THAT THEY HAD SOLD. *AK
VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING CORROSION AROUND THE SUBFRAME MOUNTS. THE BRACKETS NEEDED REPLACING ON THE SUBRAME, RECALL 98V323000. VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL DUE TO VIN, BUT HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS. *AK
RECALL WORK NOT ABLE TO BE COMPLETED ON THE REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS DUE TO LACK OF PARTS.
RECALL REPAIR WORK ON THE BODY MOUNTS REFUSED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. (98V-323).MJS
THE REAR MOUNTING PLATE HAD CORRODED/RUSTED. THIS CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO GO THROUGH THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
LOOSE/CORRODING BODY MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING ENGINE/TRANSMISSION TO BREAK/BIND STEERING COMPONENTS AND DAMAGE FRONT TIRES AND TIE ROD PRIOR TO RECALL NOTIFICATION. (93V-10602)
RECALL 98V323000/MANUFACTURER 98S36; REAR SUBFRAME MOUNTS BROKE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST/CORROSION ON THE TRANSMISSION FRAME. DEALER CONTACTED AND THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT COMPLY TO THE RECALL. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ABOUT 30 MPH ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND DROPPED OFF VEHICLE. THIS WAS JUST LIKE THE DEFECT MENTIONED IN RECALL 6760, NHTSA 93-V-106-002 DATE 16-NOV-93. BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAD TOLD CONSUMER THAT HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER IS NOT ON THE RECALL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CONTACTED. *AK
THE FRONT BODY MOUNTS BROKE OFF, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO JUMP UP WHEN ACCLERATING, WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
RECALL WORK COMPLETED ON REAR SUBFRAME BODY MOUNTS HOWEVER FAILED.
