WHILE TRAVELING DURING A RAIN STORM BOTH WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED. INDEPENDENT AUTOMOBILE SHOP HAS REPLACED FUSE/ WIPER MOTOR, AND STILL NOT WORKING. SAME SYMPTOMS AS TSB 9582. *AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL FAILURE). *SLC
I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN ONE MONTH. I BOUGHT IT FROM AN AS-IS DEALER WITH ONE-YEAR WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION. WE FOUND SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON JANUARY 21, AND HAD MY CAR CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. THE REPORTED PROBLEM WAS POWER STEERING LEAKING AND THEN THE RELATED PRESSURE AND RETURN HOSES WERE REPLACED. IT SEEMED OK. BUT ON JANUARY 26, MY CAR WAS SUDDENLY ON FIRE WHEN WE WERE DRIVING WITH OUR TEACHER. WE HAD TO CALL 911 TO SMOTHER THE FIRE. MANY WIRINGS WERE DAMAGED, THUS THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN ANYMORE. AND LATER WE STILL FOUND THE POWER STEERING LEAKING. IN BOTH CASES, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DEMONSTRATED EVERYTHING WAS OK EVEN WHEN THREE PERSONS WERE ON FIRE! IS THE AUTO SAFE? COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIND AN AUTHORIZED OFFICE IN RENO, NV TO INSPECT THE CAUSE OF THE VEHICLE FIRE? THANK YOU. *AK
WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. STARTED TO SLOW DOWN BY APPLYING BRAKES. VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. TAPPED BRAKES HARDER & NOTHING HAPPENED. REAPPLIED BRAKES & VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO SPEED UP. SHIFTED INTO LOWER GEAR & VEHICLE WAS SLOWED DOWN & APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP VEHICLE. *AK
CONSUMER DID NOT HAVE RECALL WORK PERFORMED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS AND DEALERSHIP PROBLEM.(SPEED CONTROL) *MJS
BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE, AND CUT THOUGH LEFT FRONT TIRE. TIRE WENT FLAT, CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS IF GOING FAST AT ALL. DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR. CONSUMER FELT THAT COIL SPRINGS WERE DESIGNED IMPROPERLY. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA. AFTER DRIVER PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, SPARKES STARTED COMING FROM AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN AREA, AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE SAFELY. THE WHOLE INTERIOR WAS BURNED, AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR TO THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE I NOTICED A ODOR OF ANTIFREEZE, AND I HAD TO ADD A LITTLE ANTIFREEZE ABOUT ONCE A WEEK.I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AT BILL MARSH FORD ON 4/28/99 WHEN IT HAD 90,350 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THE TIMING CASE COVER WAS LEAKING. I HAD THIS REPAIRED AT ANOTHER GARAGE WITHIN ONE WEEK.IN NOVEMBER I AGAIN SMELLED ANTIFREEZE AND HAD THE CAR CHECKED AT A LOCAL GARAGE ON 1/3/2000 WHERE IT WAS DEFINITLEY DIAGNOSED AS A HEAD GASKET PROBLEM. I HAD THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED AND THE MOTOR REBUILT AT AUTO BOYS IN JANUARY 2000.IT COST ME $2,041.34. *AK
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKET. LOCAL GARAGES SEEMED TO INDICATE THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL (3.8L V6). *AK
WHY DOESNT FORD COVER THESE UNDER A RECALL THE DEALER TOLD ME THESE CARS ARE DROPPING LIKE FLIES, IT'S FUNNY HOW THE DEALER SAYS ITS A BIG PROBLEM BUT FORD SAYS THEY ARE NOT HAVING A PROBLEM???????????????????? ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL THANK-YOU. NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONED WITHIN VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE STARTING VEHICLE WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF TAILPIPE. HEARD POPPING NOISE, ALSO WATER AND ANTIFREEZE WAS COMING FROM TAILPIPE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER INDICATED ENGINE HEAD GASKETS WERE BLOWN.*AK BLOWER FAN BLADE HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. CUSTOMER STATES TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOES UP, LOW ON WATER AND LOOSING COOLANT. DEALER REPLACED RADIATOR, WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT. BRAKES ARE GRINDING. DEALER REPLACED FRONT BRAKES HAD TURNED ROTORS. ON ONE OCCASION, THE THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TT
THREE AUTO PARTS AND 6 MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT ENGINE
TURNING RIGHT AFTER STOP, CAR MADE A POP NOISE. CAR VEERED LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE AND HIT STATIONARY METAL POLE CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO AUTOMOBILE BODY AND SUSPENSION. CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED BY INSURANCE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
VEHICLE HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES/ AT ANY SPEED. MECHANIC UNABLE TO REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
HEAD GASKET FAILED, FORD RECALLED 1994 AND 1995 MODEL AND CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT. NLM
FAILURE IN HEAD GASKETS, TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE. COST TO REPLACE $4200. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THERE IS VIRBATION WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP VEHICLE VIBRATES DUE TO BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS. ALSO, THERE IS AN OIL LEAK. *AK
CONSUMER HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY- CONSUMER WAS THE DRIVER AND WAS SLIGHTLY INJURED BY THE IMPACT FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING ENGINE TO SHIFT FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS, DAMAGING THE COOLANT SYSTEM, AND VEHICLE OVERHEATED.*AK
RECALL 98V323000; MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING ENGINE TO JUMP AROUND IN ENGINE COMPARMENT, AND HITTING HOOD WHEN DRIVING. FRONT AND REAR MOUNTS BROKE. THERE WERE NO PARTS HOLDING ENGINE IN PLACE. ALSO, RECALL DEALT WITH SAME PROBLEM; BUT THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER.*AK

FRONT ENGINE MOUNT BOLTS BROKE OFF. DEALER NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. REPAIRWORK DONE BY REPLACING BOLTS, ALSO, REPLACED RADIATOR. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
HEAD GASKET FAILED PREMATURELY AT 60,000 MILES, ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO ENGINE.*AK A FEW DAYS AFTER REPLACEMENT, VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT ENGINE NEEDED REPLACED. *SLC
THE RIGHT SIDE TIE ROD END BROKE IN HALF WHILE BACKING OUT, CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING. FORD MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *YC

WHEN RIDING OVER BUMPS THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO FALL APART. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH A SPRING BROKE IN HALF AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 68 MPH THE TREAD CAME OFF OF THE REAR TIRE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL AND HIT A WALL. *AK
BOTH FRONT ENGINE MOUNTS BROKE. CONSUMER BELIEVED THIS CONDITION IS DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS BY MANUFACTURER. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 333,000 MILES OF WEAR. CAN NHTSA PROVIDE HELP OR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
WHEN PUTTTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, AND IT CONTINUES TO FLASH OFF / ON. VEHICLE IS IN REPAIR SHOP FOR SERVICE. *AK *YC
WHILE DRIVING MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE TO BREAK WHICH CAUSE VEHICLE TO ACCLERATE. THE OCCUPANT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO STOP. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. AND VIN#. *AK
ENGINE MOUNT FAILURE DISCOVERED BY SERVICING DEALER (DREAGER FORD, GEORGETOWN TX) WHILE DIAGNOSING TRANSMISSION UNCOMMANDED GEARCHANGE PROBLEM. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER HOTLINE BUT THEY REFUSED DTO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE MOUNT FAILURE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THEY STATE THAT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRENTY/HAS MORE THAN 60,000 MILES. *AK
FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS HAVE FAILED 4 TIMES. SYMPTOM IS POOR RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION AND TRANSMISION NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. *AK
WHENEVER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE PRESENT DUE TO A BROKEN WELD ON THE SUBFRAME. PART OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED UNDER A RECALL. *AK
CONSUMER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL (98V-323 SUB FRAME MOUNTS), DUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES FROM EXCESSIVE WEAR (MOTOR MOUNTS, STRUT & MOUNT, SWAY BAR LINK) PRIOR TO RECALL REPAIR OF THE SUB FRAME MOUNTS. MJS
PASSENGER'S MOTORIZED SEAT BELT IS STUCK IN A POSITION WHERE SEAT BELT WON'T PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN EVENT OF A CRASH. EVERY TIME THE FRONT DOOR OPENS OR THE CAR IS STARTED, A RINGING SOUND OCCURS AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. IT IS ANNOYING AND DRAINING POWER FROM THE BATTERY. FORD CORP. SAID THEY WILL NOT FIX BECAUSE IT IS OVER 5 YEARS OLD. *AK.ET.
WHILE IN A PARKING LOT MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS FELL OUT. HAD TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE & ENGINE WOULD JUMP UP & DAMAGE THE ROD. ALSO, HEATER & RADIATOR HOSES WERE DAMAGED, AS WELL AS ALSO CV BOOT & ACCELERATOR LINK WERE BENT. HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS WITH MOTOR MOUNTS. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH IN SLOW TRAFFIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. VEHICLE TAKEN TO MECHANIC & INFORMED CONSUMER THAT PLANETARY GEAR HAD BURNED OUT. FLUID WOULD NOT FLOW THROUGH SMALL HOLES. HAD TO REBUILT TRANSMISSION WITH NEW PARTS KIT. THIS IS THE 2ND OCCURRENCE WITH TRANSMISSION. *AK
PE00-020; TIRES WERE SHOWING TREAD SEPARATION ON RIGHT FRONT AND LEFT REAR TIRES. FORD, TAURUS, 1992 FIRESTONE, 440 205/70R14. *AK BOTH RIGHT FRONT AND LEFT REAR TIRES EXPERIENCED STEELBELT SEPARATION AND ONLY HAD 48000 MILES. *SLC
