DURING A PANIC STOP IN MY 1994 FORD TAURUS SHO I EXPERIENCED A HYDRAULIC FAILURE IN MY BRAKES. THIS WAS DUE TO SEVERE CORROSION OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES. I CAME WITHIN 6 INCHES OF REAR ENDING ANOTHER CAR. I REPLACED BRAKE LINES FROM THE AREA WHERE IT WAS SOUND BACK TO THE REAR BRAKES. THE FORWARD LINES PROBABLY SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED. *JB
MY CAR SHAKES WHEN I DRIVE AND JERKS VERY BADLY WHEN YOU PUT ON THE BRAKES. I JUST PUT NEW PADS ON THE FRONT AND THAT'S WHERE IT'S SHAKING FROM. IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS GONNA FALL APART. *NM

I PURCHASED MY 1994 FORD TAURUS USED IN FALL 2002. IN FEBRUARY 2003 THE REAR BRAKES BEGAN TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AND THE RIGHT REAR CALIPER BROKE. I THEN HAD BOTH REAR CALIPERS REPLACED ALONG WITH PADS AND ROTORS. ONLY 3 MONTHS LATER THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE BEGAN GRINDING AGAIN. THE RIGHT REAR CALIPER WAS AGAIN REPLACED ALONG WITH ROTORS AND PADS. MY MECHANIC REPORTED THAT A PROPORTIONING VALVE HAD A GREAT DEAL OF RUST AND WAS NOT PERMITTING BRAKE FLUID TO THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE. THIS VALVE HAS LINES TO ALL 4 BRAKES AND HE IS UNCERTAIN IF ALL LINES MUST BE REPLACED WHEN THE VALVE IS REPLACED.
REAR BRAKES STICKING, FAILING TO RELEASE ON 1994 FORD TAURUS WITH REAR DISK BRAKES. I HAVE BURNED UP 2 SETS OF REAR BRAKES AND HAVE STILL NOT FOUND THE PROBLEM TO FIX IT PROPERLY. NEW REAR CALIPERS BOTH TIME THE REAR BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *NLM

INSPECTION ALSO SHOWED SEVERE RUST ON BRAKE LINES FROM PROPORTIONING VALVE TO FRONT OF CAR . RUST IS IN AN AREA NOT EASILY OBSERVED BY NORMAL MAINTENACE INSPECTION AND COULD LEAD TO SUDDEN FAILURE OF BRAKE SYSTEM.*AK
MY CAR STALLS OR JUST STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, IT WILL GO FROM 60MPH TO 0MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 20 TIMES. I TOOK IT TO PEFFLEY FORD FOR REPAIRS, THEY CHARGED ME $669.36 AND 6 DAYS LATER MY CAR CUT OUT ON ME AGAIN AND THEY TOWED IT TO THEIR SHOP. THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT MY CAR WITHOUT ME PAYING MORE MONEY FOR REPAIRS AND THE TOW TRUCK. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON REPAIRS FOR MY CAR AND I FEAR FOR MY LIFE EVERY TIME I GET INTO THAT CAR. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL CUT OUT AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW CAR. I FOUND OUT THAT 8 PEOPLE OWNED THAT CAR BEFORE ME, WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE SALESPERSON SAID THAT IT WOULD BE SAFE FOR MY TWO YOUNG GIRLS TO RIDE IN HE WAS WRONG. CAR BEGAN TO ENGAGE IN GEAR WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING. DURING THIS TIME CAR WOULD ACCELERATED RAPIDLY OR LURCH FORWARD. DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ALUMINUM CLUTCH PISTON HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH A STEEL ONE. REBUILD AXOD-E TRANSMISSION, K FRAME BOLT EXHAQUST GASKET.
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH ON HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF HER, CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AND VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP, RESULTING IN A REAR END COLLISION. ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE RECENTLY BEGAN DYING WITHOUT REASON, ENGINE JUST COMPLETELY STOPS, WILL NORMALLY RESTART WITHIN 30 MINS. MECHANIC CAN GIVE NO CAUSE, SAID IT IS COMMON TO TAURUS. BRAKES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND NO PROBLEMS NOTED, HOWEVER WHEN YOU ARE TURNING TO THE RIGHT OR ONTO AN INCLINED SURFACE THEY LOCK. FUEL IN TANK SLOSHES NOTICABILIY WHEN TURNING, SHAKES VEHICLE.
WHEN YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE ELECTRONIC REMOTE THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL OPEN ITSELF WITHOUT USING THE HANDLE TO MANUALLY OPEN IT.THIS IS A FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON LX MODEL PURCHASED IN 1994. THE REASON I CHECKED PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS BECAUSE A GUY AT A FIRESTONE TIRE PLACE HAD THE CAR AND IT POPED OPEN ON HIM AS HE STARTED THE CAR AND DIDN'T KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND THE DOOR OPENED WIDE AS HE WAS TAKING THE CAR OUT OF THE REPAIR SHOP. THE DOOR WILL ALSO OPEN AS YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT UNLOCKS ALL THE DOORS. WHEN THE UNLOCK OPERATION HAPPENS IS WHEN THE DOOR WILL OPEN BY ITSELF. *AK
MY BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED IN THE CROSSWALK OF MY SONS' ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHILE SCHOOL WAS LETTING OUT. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MIDAS FOUND A PERFECTLY GOOD BRAKE HOSE WITH A HOLE RUBBED IN TO IT. HE SAID (AND I HAVE IT IN WRITING), THAT THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE BRAKE HOSE IS VERY WIMPY AND BENDS TOO EASILY THEN RUBS A HOLE IN THE BRAKE HOSE. THEREFORE, ALL THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT AND MY BRAKES FAILED. I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE HOSE, AND THE BRACKET IS STILL ON THE CAR. LUCKILY NO KIDS WERE IN THE CROSSWALK OR SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE REPAIR COST WAS $200 (I HAVE THE RECEIPT) AND I WOULD LIKE FORD TO REIMBURSE ME AS WELL AS ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE THIS IS ADDRESSED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND OWNER OF THE MIDAS SHOP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED SAID HE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER FORDS. HE EVEN CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ABOUT IT AND SAID HE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END ACCIDENT AT 22 MPH BECAUSE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE WHILE APPLYING. ASLO, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHY ONLY THAT LEFT ON BRAKES AFTER ONLY 38950 MILES? THIS NOT NORMAL
MY WIRE GOT INTO THE CAR IN OUR DRIVEWAY, STARTED THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY PUT IT INTO "DRIVE". THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO ITS MAXIMUM RPMS, FRONT WHEELS SPUN ON ASPHALT DRIVE, FINALLY GRIPPED THE DRIVE AND SHOT DOWN THE DRIVE AT ABOUT 50MPH. SHE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR..NO BRAKES. THE CAR HIT OUR FIREWOOD STACK AND PUSHED THE WOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAR UNTIL THE FRONT WHEELS CAME OFF THE GROUND, THEN HIT A TREE AT THE END OF THE DRIVE. THE ENGINE STOPPED, SHE TURNED OFF THE KEY AND EXITED THE CAR. I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR EARLIER IN THE DAY AND COULD NOT GET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO ACTIVATE. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS EVENT! *AK

WHILE DRIVING CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED UNEXPECTEDLY, CAUSING GAS PEDAL TO TRAVEL TO THE FLOOR. ALSO, BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. CONSUMER HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE , PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
