WHILE TRAVELING UPHILL AFTER MAKING A STOP, AND UPON DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, VEHICLE WOULD NOT TRAVEL. THEN TRANSMISSION KICKED IN, AND VEHICLE STARTED TRAVELING. TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS COMMON FROM 93-97. *AK *ML
WHILE TRAVELING ENGINE STALLED. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, AND CONSUMER PULLED VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD. PROBLEM CAUSED BY VAPOR LOCK, WHICH HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED DEALERS THAT THE USE OF "SUMMER BLEND" FUEL WOULD HELP THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS NOT YET PROVIDED A MORE PERMANENT FIX. *AK *ML

HEAD GASKET BLEW AT 127,000 MILES MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO HONOR WARRANTY AND REIMBURSE CONSUMER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OVER 100,000 MILES. NLM

VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK FOR OVER 15-20 MPH IN THE OFF POSITION WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AROUND DASH, AND BLACK SMOKE FILLED THE PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
DEALER IS SAYING THAT RECALL WAS FIXED (3 TIMES) SO NO "RECALL" EXISTS BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ONGOING AND VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I GAVE THIS CAR TO MY DAUGHTER IN JANUARY, 2000 AND SHE HAS EXPERIENCED A TOTAL ELECTRICAL OUTAGE TWICE AND HAS BEEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE ON BOTH OCASSIONS. THERE ARE 4 OTHER RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN FIXED AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM FIXED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT ANY HASSLE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP. *AK

MY FORD TAURUS SHO HAS LEFT ME STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FORMULA THAT USUALLY CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT START/STALL IS IF I DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE(.5-2 HOURS) AND THEN SHUT IT OFF FOR .5-1.5 HOURS. WHEN I GO TO RESTART IT, IT WILL EITHER NOT START OR WILL START AND RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN DIE SUDDENLY IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN TO 4 SERVICE STATIONS (3 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS) AND ALL HAVE SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I GOT IT BACK FROM THE LAST DEALER ON 11/9/00 AND THEY SAID MY PROBLEM WAS DUE TO FUEL AEROATION AND THAT IT WOULD GET BETTER WHEN THE WEATHER COOLED DOWN. THIS ANSWER WAS NOT ANYTHING I COULD USE BECAUSE NOW THE CAR IS EXTREMELY UNTRUSTWORTHY. *AK
RIGHT FRONT OF THE CAR HIT A PIECE OF CONCRETE AT 15MPH, AND BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG HAD HOLES IN IT WHICH LET OUT A CHEMICAL WHICH CAUSED DRIVER TO GO BLIND. NOONE HAS SEEN VEHICLE.*AK

THE CLIENTS HUSBAND WAS KILLED WHEN THE THROTTLE OF HIS VEHICLE STUCK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A BUILDING AND RESULTING IN DEATH TO THE DRIVER, THERE IS A RECALL REGARDING THROTTLE LINKAGES AND CONTROL, 97V025. NLM

ONE DAY THE BRAKE PEDAL DROPS TO THE FLOOR WHEN COMING TO A STOP. BRAKES PUMP UP OK. BLEED BRAKES WHEN I GET HOME, THEY'RE SOFTER THAN USUAL BUT STOP FINE. NOTICE SMOKE COMING FROM WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA AT A STOP ABOUT A WEEK LATER. OPEN HOOD, I DON'T SEE ANY VISUAL DAMAGE, SMOKE IS GONE BY THE TIME I CHECK.. 2 DAYS LATER BRAKE PEDAL DROPS TO THE FLOOR, DOESN'T PUMP UP. BLEEDING DOESN'T HELP, PEDAL STAYS SOFT. I NOTICE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A SWITCH OR SENSOR THAT SCREWS INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. IT'S WET AND WHEN I FEEL IT I CAN TELL IT'S BRAKE FLUID. I TRY TO PULL OFF THE CONNECTOR BUT IT SNAPS OFF, I NOTICE THAT IT'S BEEN ON FIRE OR HAS BEEN VERY HOT. I CHECK WITH THE DEALER AND IT'S CALLED A HYDRAULIC DISCONNECT SWITCH, IT DISENGAGES THE SPEED CONTROL WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKES. APPARENTLY IT STARTED LEAKING AND THAT'S THE FIRST TIME I LOST THE PEDAL. APPARENTLY WHEN I NOTICED THE SMOKE IS THE TIME THE CONNECTOR BECAME VERY HOT OR WAS ON FIRE, BECAUSE THE HYDRAULIC SWITCH LEAKED AND ALLOWED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK ONTO THE CONNECTOR. I ORDERED A SWITCH BUT IT'S ON NATIONAL BACK-ORDER. I STILL HAVE THE CHARRED SWITCH AND CAN CUT OFF THE CONNECTOR IF IT NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED.*AK

VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING AND CONSTANTLY LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE AND OIL. CAUSE OF LEAK UNKNOWN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE RADIATOR BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. THEN THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET AND THE OVER HEATING STOPPED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
