WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND ENGINE STOPPED. CAR SHUT OFF AND WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. INCIDENT REPEATED ITSELF TWO DASY LATER. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS GAS PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, VEHICLE HAS TO BE PUT IN NETURAL TO GAIN CONTROL.ALSO PEDAL HAS TO BE MANUALLY LIFTED BACK TO THE POSITION. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. AS CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD MOTOR BLEW UP. *AK
CONSUMER DENIED RECALL REPAIR DUE TO LACK OF PARTS (APRIL 99). MJS (98V-323).
IGNITION FAILURE IS STILL CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL, THE MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES, NEW PLUGS AND WIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, AND THE INJECTORS HAVE BEEN CLEANED. *SLC
1) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS VERY RAPID AND SUDDEN LOSS OF COOLANT, THE RESULTING ENGINE STOPPAGE AND THE THICK CLOUDS OF STEAM WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS HAZARD. 2)FORD SENT A LETTER DATED "JUNE, 1998" ADVISING OF A FREE REPAIR FOR THIS DEFECT IF IT OCCURRED WITHIN THE 60,000MI/5YR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY PERIOD OR OF THE DEFECT HAPPENED REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE BY DECEMBER 31, 1998. THIS DEFECT POSES A REAL DANGER AND FORD SHOULD NOT HAVE A CUT-OFF DATE ON THE REPAIR. *AK
HEARD A CLUNCKING NOISE WHEN WHEEL WAS TURNED. MECHANIC STATED COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. 2) STRUT BEARING PLATE WAS DEFECTIVE, WHEEL TURNED VISIBILITY OFF WHILE MOVING. REPAIRWORK DONE BY MECHANIC AT OWNERS EXPENSE. ALSO, SWAY LINK BAR WAS CORRODED, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DEALER NOT AWARE OF PROBLEM. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
DESIGN DEFECT CAUSED PLANETARY GEAR IN THE TRANSAXLE TO FAIL. MJS
WHEN VEHICLE ALMOST STOPPED AND THEN ACCELERATES THERE IS A LONG HESITATION. DEALER REPORTS TRANSMISSION FAILURE PERHAPS DUE TO ENGINE MOUNT FAILURE.
IGNITION SWITCH BROKE, AND STEERING WENT OUT ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE WHEN THE CONSUMER GOT VEHICLE OUT OF REPAIR SHOP FOR A RECALL REPAIRS. ALL PROBLEMS STARTED AGAIN WHEN CONSUMER GOT VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED. MJS
WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. WHEN LIGHT CHANGES CAR DOES NOT MOVE. THEN AFTER WAITING A PERIOD OF TIME 10 TO 60 SECONDS, THE CAR JERKS ONTO GEAR AND THEN THE DRIVER CAN PROCEED. THE SAME SITUATION OCCURS WHEN BACKING UP. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR UNTIL THE ENGINE WARMS UP. *AKY
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL (#98V323000). CONTACTED DEALERSHIP & WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT 3 WEEKS IS THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT GIVEN. OWNER WAS UNHAPPY & SAID IT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN EARLIER DATE. *AK
CONSUMER STOPPED AT STOP SIGN, AND WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE INTO DRIVE/REVERSE. *AK
HEAD GASKET BLOWOUT RESULTED IN TIMING COVER GASKET BLOWING. ALSO RESULTED IN ANTIFREEZE LEAKAGE WHICH CAUSED TIMING COVER BOLTS TO HARDEN AND CRASKED THE TIMING COVER HOUSING ITSELF. THE HEAD GASKET BLOWOUT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERERED IF IT HAD HAPPENED PRIOR TO DEC 31, 1998 (FORD TSR 98M01). HOWEVER MY CASE LIKE SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE HEARD ABOUT DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL THAT EXPIRED, NOW I HAVE OTHER DAMAGE AS A RESULT THAT FORD ALSO REFUSES TO HELP WITH.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WENT INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION DUE TO ALUMINUM PISTONS IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
HEAD GASKET FAILED CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT. SAYS ENTIRE ENGINE MUST BE REPLACED ($3,600).
HEAD GASKET FAILURE POST FMC 98M01 GUIDELINES (PROGRAM TERMINATED AT 12/31/98). I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS DEALER CLAIMS THAT A NUMBER OF THESE HAVE OCCURRED SINCE 12/31/98 IN HIS OWN SHOP AND OTHERS IN THE AREA. FORD ADMITS A POSSIBLE DEFECT BUT REFUSES TO PROVIDE FURTHER OWNER ASSISTANCE. I SEE A NUMBER OF THESE IN YOUR DATABASE.

VEHICLE EXPERIENCED FRONT COIL SPRING FAILURE RESULTING IN TIRE BLOWOUT, VEHICLE NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL 98S15 DUE TO VIN. NLM
AFTER DRIVING A FORD TAURUS FOR THE LAST 11 YEARS (1985 & 1994) I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT BOTH CARS HAVE SIMULAR PROBLEMS. MY 1994 TAURUS IS INOPERATIVE DUE TO A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. MY PREVIOUS TAURUS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY THE CAR WON'T MOVE. THE REAR DEFROSTER FAILED IN BOTH VEHICALS. THEY BOTH ALWAYS SEEMED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS. THE FACTORY ALARM HAS BEEN A CHORE SINCE DAY ONE AND THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS MAKE THIS AWFUL SOUND. ON MARCH 26, 1999 I WILL SEND A LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY STARTING AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WORKING MY WAY UP FROM THERE. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATE'S WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH TO 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BY ITSELF CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO APPLY THE BRAKE'S REAL FAST AND THE VEHICLE KEPT GOING AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ONTO A EMPTY FIELD CAUSING THE CONSUMER LEFT FRONT TIRE TO HIT SOME ROCK'S AND THE VEHICLE STILL ACCELERATED ABOUT 40 TO 50 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP.

WHEN DRIVING AT 55 MPH WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING RIGHT FROM GEAR TO GEAR. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, AND THERE WAS SOME JERKING WITHIN THE GEARS. TRANSMISSION IS BEING REBUILT. *AK

I'VE READ MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ON THIS COMPONENT, 46K MI IS VERY PREMATURE FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE
HEAD GASKETS FAILED, CAUSING ENGINE TO SMOKE/STARTING DIFFICULTY.
CONSUMER HAD RECALL REPAIR (98V-323) PERFORMED AND WAS CHARGED A FEE. MJS
RECALL 98V323000, BODY MOUNTS OF SUBFRAME REAR CORNERS BROKE DUE TO CORROSION. HOWEVER, THE TWO FRONT BODY MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. BUT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *AK

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT NOTICE, BEGAN SLIPPING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD.
WHILE TRAVELING ON A STREET AT 15 MPH, SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP, AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED OF A BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. *AK
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 98V323000 & CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT 2 MONTHS AHEAD. THE OWNER WAS UPSET. SAID IT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. NEEDED A BETTER SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT PROMPT REPAIR ON RECALLS. *AK
TRANSMISSION REPAIRE REQUIRED: MASTER ASSEMBLY WITH SEALS, OVERDRIVE BAND, FORWARD PISTON, EPC CELENOID, LUBE KIT, LOW SERVO PISTON, FLUID AND FILTER, TORQUE CONVERTER.

THE HEAD GASKET FAILED ON THREE OCCASIONS, IN WHICH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPLACED THE GASKET THE FIRST TWO TIMES, HOWEVER ON THE THIRS OCCASION FORD MOTOR COMPANY OFFERED ONLY TO PAY 60% OF THE COST AND CONSUMER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 40% CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS UNFAIR SINCE MANUFACTURER WAS WELL AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE HEAD GASKET, WHICH WAS ALSO A RECALL PRODUCT.*JB
PASSENGER'S FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE, CAUSING PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE TO BLOW OUT, AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *AK *ML

TRANS AXLE PROBLEM CAUSES THE FOWARD AND REVERSE GEARS TO WORK ERRATICALLY. WHEN DRIVING AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, GEARS DO NOT PICK BACK UP, AND THE REVERSE GEAR DOES NOT PICK UP. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND REFUSES TO COVER COST OF REPAIRS. *AK *ML
MY CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING HOT OFF & ON FOR OVER A YEAR. HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED, BUT NOT SO. TOOK CAR TO ANOTHER MACHANIC, THEY PUT A NEW RADIATOR IN THAT COST 600.+ THE CAR RAN HOT. A WEEK LATER,TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MACHANIC. HE FOUND OUT IT WAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. I CALLED LEWIS FOR AND BECAUSE IT HAPPENED 10 DAYS AFTER THE EXPIRATION ON THE RECALL,THE WOULD NOT FIX IT. I SPENT ANOTHER 1100.00 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY WHAT THE FORD DEALERS CHARGE PER HOUR. THEREFORE DID NOT TAKE MY CAR TO THEM. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP SO MANY TIMES AND IT MAKES ME MAD. NOW I'M STUCK WITH THIS CAR THAT HAS 5 RECALLS ON IT. IT IS A PAIN TO TRY AND FIND RIDES BACK & FOURTH TO WORK, AS WELL AS GETTING MY SON TO SCHOOL, AS THEY DO NOT PROVIDE A LOANER CAR. IT IS NOT MY FAULT THEY COULD NOT BUILD THIS CAR CORRECTLY, BUT STILL PUT IT OUT THERE AND SELL THEM. I THINK IT IS VERY UNFAIR TO MAKE US PAY THE PRICE, AND I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD AND WILL DISCOURAGE ANYONE ELSE FROM PURCHASING ONE. *AK
