TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V106000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH) AND WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AND THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE RELEASED FROM PARK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I AM HAVING ISSUES EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V106000. I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS WHERE THE THE STOMP LAMP MALFUNCTIONS WHEN USING THE BRAKES. WHEN I CALLED FUTURE FORD OF ROSEVILLE, CA IN THE AUTOMALL THEY LOOKED UP MY VIN # AND INFORMED ME THAT THIS RECALL IS NOT IN THEIR LIST FOR MY VEHICLE. BUT THAT THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE HAD THE STOP LAMP REPLACED ALREADY IN YEAR 2000 FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I TOLD THEM THAT THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AS MY CAR WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS AS FOUND IN THE NHTSA RECALL ARTICLE. THERE WAS NOT MUCH INTEREST IN MY PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. TO ME THIS APPEARS THAT THIS SHOULD APPLY TO MY CAR ALSO. TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE TO HAVE THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL WITH THE SAME ISSUES AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND HAVING THE PART ALREADY REPLACE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD.

HE HAD TO UTILIZE PLIERS IN ORDER TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND OFF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ALTHOUGH RECALL NUMBER 01V075000, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, HEADLIGHTS SWITCH WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 75,000.

HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V075000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:SWITCH). NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS AVAILABLE.

IN 2005 I HAD RECALL SERVICE DONE ON THE CAR. AMONG OTHER THINGS, THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. ON MARCH 21, 2007, THE SWITCH FAILED AGAIN AT WHICH POINT I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE SERVICE FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. IS THE DEALER REQUIRED TO REPLACE IT AGAIN AT NO CHARGE SINCE IT WAS A RECALL ITEM TO BEGIN WITH? *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT KNOB IN HER 2000 FORD TAURUS (89000 FAILURE MILEAGE), CAME OFF AND WILL NO LONGER STAY ON. THERE IS A RECALL (01V078000) OUT FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT THIS VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON CONSTANTLY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. A NHTSA RECALL, # 04V106000 WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONCERNING THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH; HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER A SECOND REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE UNDER THE RECALL.
MY CAR IS A 2000 FORD TAURUS (VIN NUMBER IS [XXX]). I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V075000. THE HEADLAMP SWITCH KNOB IS FRACTURED AND DOES NOT CORRECTLY ATTACH TO THE HEADLAMP SWITCH. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MACON, GA, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS SPECIFIC RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN NUMBER, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR CAR. MY ONLY OPTION THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME WAS TO PAY $80 TO INSTALL A COMPLETE NEW LIGHT SWITCH, EVEN THOUGH ALL I NEED IS A NEW KNOB. I WAS TOLD THAT THE KNOB IS NOT SOLD AS A SEPARATE PART, ONLY AS A COMPLETE NEW SWITCH. I WOULD LIKE THIS RECALL EXTENDED TO CARS LIKE MINE. WHILE WAITING LIGHTS FAILED AGAIN AND DEALER WITNESSED FAILURE. DEALER REPLACED MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH WITH SCORCHED CONNECTOR-TAB AND WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR THAT HAD PARTIALLY MELTED. *NM
2000 FORD TAURUS HEADLIGHTS FAILED.*MR THE HEADLIGHT SEALS FAILED WHICH ALLOWED MOISTURE TO FORM ON THE INSIDE SURFACE OF THE LENS. THIS REDUCES THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT GIVEN OFF BY 10-25%. *NM
THE HEADLIGHT SWITH KNOB (WHICH IS PLASTIC) FRACTURED. THE ELECTRICAL PART OF THE SWITCH IS FINE BUT THE PLASTIC KNOB IS BROKEN SO THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS OFF OR ON UNLESS YOU USE A PLIERS.
DT: 2000 FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON. THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS CLOUDY AND GOT MOISTURE ON THE INSIDE OF THE PLASTIC ITSELF. IT SWEATS FROM THE INSIDE. CALLED MANUFACTURER, AND ASKED FOR ANY RECALLS OR PROBLEMS ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THEY SAID NO. THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR THIS WAS TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS FOR A COST OF $155.00 AND WITH ONLY A YEAR WARRANTY OR 12,000 MILE. CONSUMER SPOKE TO A JUNK YARD, AND THEY SAID THAT THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE 1985. CONSUMER OWNED THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW, I, AND JUST NOTICED THIS LAST WEEK. CONSUMER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY I SEAL FRACTURES OR BROKEN LENSES ON THE LIGHT OR ASSEMBLY. *AK
HEADLIGHTS JUST SHUT OFF WHEN ON AUTOMATIC. SOMETIMES THEY COME RIGHT BACK ON AND OTHER TIMES THEY STAY OFF. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON DARK HIGHWAY. *AK
THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL LEVER TO DISENGAGE THE SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED TWO DAYS AFTER THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH RECALL 04V106000 REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN SINCE RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. *AK THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO BECOME VERY CLOSE TO SLOWER MOVING TRAFFIC BEFORE THE CONSUMER REALIZED WHAT OCCURRED.
