HEARD A LOUD BANG WHILE DRIVING A 2002 FORD TAURUS. CAR LEAPT TO THE LEFT AND I HEARD LOUD SCREECHING. I BRAKED AND SLOWED, AND WHEN STOPPED I DISCOVERED A FLAT LEFT FRONT TIRE. WHEN I REMOVED THE TIRE TO PUT ON A SPARE, THE TIRE WAS STUCK ON SOMETHING IN THE BACK. AFTER TURNING IT TO VIEW - I SAW THAT THE COIL SPRING WAS RUNNING RIGHT THROUGH THE TIRE! APPARENTLY, THE COIL SPRING HAD SNAPPED AND IMMEDIATELY PUNCTURED THE TIRE. CAR WAS TOWED TO A SHOP AND LOTS OF REPAIRS ($$$) WERE NEEDED. I CALLED FORD, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE 2002 MODEL, ONLY ON 1999-2001 (SAME WIDESPREAD PROBLEM). AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE MANY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE 2002 TAURUS - BUT FORD REFUSES TO EXTEND THEIR RECALL TO THAT YEAR'S MODEL. THIS WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING - I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD DISASTER MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED!! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRES IS BIG O ASPEN AND THE TIRE SIZE IS P215/60R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD ON THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONT TIRE SEPARATED. SHE HAD THE TIRE REPLACED ACCORDING TO RECALL# 06T027000 (TIRES: TREAD/BELT, TIRE LINE / TIRE). AFTER THE REPAIR THE THREE REMAINING TIRES FAILED IDENTICALLY. THE BLOW OUTS INCREASED HER RISK FOR VEHICLE CRASH. THE TIRE FACILITY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILURES, SO SHE HAD TO BEAR THE EXPENSE TO REPLACE THEM. THE DOT NUMBERS OF THE TIRES WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,111. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 97,000.
NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, TIRES FAILED TO HOLD AIR PRESSURE. BOTH FRONT TIRES WITHIN ONE MONTH OF EACH OTHER FAILED. TIRES APPEARED TO BE DRY ROTTED ON CORNER OF SIDE WALLS. BOTH TIRES HAD SAME AREA OF DRY ROT/CRACKS IN TREAD. TIRES HAD LESS THEN 20,000 MILES ON THEM AND WHERE PROPERLY MAINTAINED. DEALER REPLACED TIRES. MFG. TBC, TOURING TR VANDERBILT. *TR
I PURCHASE 4 KUMHO 215/60/16 TIRES IN MAY OF 2004 AND HAVE PUT LEAST THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN I WENT OUT GET MY CAR INSPECTED THEY SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE "JUNK" EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY WERE CRACKED AND ONE BELT WAS BROKEN ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE- I FEEL THESE TIRES SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST AND ANYONE WHO PURCHASED THEM SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THERE EXPENSES. *TR
IN MID JANUARY I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE , 2002 33XI BMW, WHEN I HAD A BLOW OUT OF MY FRONT LEFT TIRE. THE TIRES ARE NOKIAN WR SIZE 205/50R17. I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE HIT A POTHOLE OR SOMETHING ELSE TO CAUSE THE BLOW OUT. YESTERDAY, MARCH 11, 2005 I NOTICED A BLUGE ON MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE ( SAME MAKE). I CALLED JACK WILLIAMS FOR A REPLACEMENT TIRE AND WILL HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED AT MY COST. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE TIRES MAY BE DEFECTIVE. I HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED ON 12/01/04 AND HAVE LESS THEN 10,000 MILES ON THEM. I FEEL IT IS TOO IRONIC THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER TIRE AFTER HAVING A BLOW OUT. I COULD NOT FIND THIS MAKE OF TIRE ON YOUR RECALL SYSTEM. ANY ASSITANCE YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *AK
THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS CUPPING WITH OVER 50% OF TREAD WEAR REMAINING. *AK THE TIRE'S TREAD SEEMED TO BE SEPERATING FROM THE SIDEWALL. *SC *JB
VEHICLE TIRES SHOWING SIGNS OF DRY ROT. *MR THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOUND A CRACK IN THE TIRE TREAD. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE TIRES HAD SIGNS OF DRY ROT AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENTIRE TIRE HAD CRACKS AROUND IT. FORD SHOWED NO SIGN OF CONCERN. *SCC *JB
I BOUGHT WHAT I THOUGHT WERE 4 BRAND NEW GOODYEAR AQUATRED TIRES FROM GRAHAM TIRE HERE IN GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA... I GOT 3 TIRES DOT...SERIAL NUMBER....MKX83MHR2901 AND 1 TIRE DOT...SERIAL NUMBER....MKX83MHR2402 THE 2402 TIRE RUNS HOT, AND IN MY OPINION IS UNSAFE. I SEE THE DOT...MKX CODE IS FOR RE TIRE KERSHAW, SOUTH CAROLINA...AND ITS LISTED UNDER RE-TREADS. WAS I SOLD FOUR RE-TREAD TIRES....AS FOUR NEW TIRES? IF SO I HAVE BEEN CHEATED. 2002 FORD TAURUS TIRE FAILURE AT ABOUT 17,993 MILES WITH A 80,000 MILE LIFE: LEFT REAR, CONTINENTAL TOURING, P215/60R16, 94T. ON INSPECTION, NO INDICATION THAT I RAN OVER ANYTHING. THE TIRE FAILED AROUND THE RIM SECTION.*AK
THE WHEEL HUB RETAINER WAS DEFECTIVE ON THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL. WHICH COULD CAUSE THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. *JB
CONSUMER STATED TOOK PURCHASED VEHICLE IN 2002. WITHIN THE FIRST 7 HOURS OF DRIVING CAR THE TIRES WERE CONSTANTLY LOSING AIR PRESSURE. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER WHO ADVISED NO PROBLEM WITH TIRES OR RIMS. IN 10/02 WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE BECAME FLAT CAUSING CONSUMER TO CRASH INTO A DITCH RESULTING IN OVER $7000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. DEALER DIAGNOSED ACCIDENT DUE TO DEFECTIVE RIMS. TS
VEHICLE TIRE EQUIPMENT HAS SEVERAL BLISTERS. *MR THE LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD 11 BLISTERS. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER IN WHICH THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE TIRES HAD BEEN DRIVEN WITH LOW PRESSURE. *SCC *JB
