MY 2003 FORD TAURUS EXPERIENCED COIL SPRING FAILURE. I PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE AND THE COIL SPRING BROKE PUTTING A 4 INCH GASH IN MY NOKIAN WINTER TIRES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE CAPITAL LINCOLN MERCURY ON 100 PEARL STREET IN ESSEX JUNCTION, VT 05452. I AM REPLACING THE STRUTS AND COIL SPRINGS ALONG WITH THE STABILIZER LINK ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND ALSO REPLACING THE STRUTS AND COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE WINTER TIRES ON THE FRONT SINCE THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS RUPTURED AND ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER TIRE WAS STILL GOOD TO BALANCE OUT PLACING A NEW WINTER ON JUST ONE SIDE WOULD HAVE MADE THE BALANCE OFF. THE TOTAL PRICE WAS APPROXIMATELY $900.00. IN DOING RESEARCH I SEE THAT FORD HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR COIL SPRINGS AND THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS BEFORE ON THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. THE 2003 FORD TAURUS HAS NOT YET BEEN RECALLED ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON THE 2003 FORD TAURUS.*TR
DROVE MY CAR HOME FROM WORK , WENT OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND STARTED SO IT WOULD BE WARMED UP .. I WAS TAKING MY SON TO SCHOOL. WE WENT OUT GOT IN THE CAR, I PUT IN DRIVE IT WOULD NOT MOVE.. PUT IN REVERSE .. NOTHING. I HAD TO CALL SOMEONE TO TAKE MY SON TO SCHOOL, HAD MY CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALER. THEY REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION AND TOLD ME THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD .. GOING TO BE AT LEAST 1,000 DOLLARS TO FIX IT ...I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT RAN OUT 10,000 MILES PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. I HAD NO SIGNS OR WARNINGS ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD.THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CAM SENSOR WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CAM SENSOR WAS AGAIN REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CAM SENSOR WAS RESET. THE FAILURE HAS NOT RECURRED. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR LATER WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. UPON EXAMINING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THE COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND PIERCED THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. HE NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE COIL SPRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
WATER LEAK AT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR, RESISTOR AND COWL, STILL LEAKS. REFERENCE RECALL 03V087000 AND MANY ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS, SPECIFICALLY 10184014. THERE WAS WATER LEAKING AT PASSENGER DASH AREA ON AND OFF SINCE 07. IT HADN'T LEAKED IN QUITE A WHILE SO I DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT. THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $250.00 TO FIX AND I WAS WAITING TO SEE IF IT KEPT UP OR GOT WORSE. THEN THE BLOWER QUIT WORKING. I SPENT $373.14 FOR A NEW BLOWER MOTOR, RESISTOR ASSY, WEATHERSTRIP, COWL PANEL AND SEALANT. ON THE 28TH OF DECEMBER, 2008 MY FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR WAS AGAIN, FULL OF WATER. NOTE, THIS HAD NOT HAPPENED FOR MANY MONTHS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THE NEW COWL PUT ON ON DECEMBER 9TH. I ASKED THE DEALER IF THE PREVIOUS WATER PROBLEM CAUSED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO GO BAD. HE SAID IT WAS HARD TO SAY. EVIDENTLY IT WAS "HARD TO SAY" BECAUSE IT SAYS RIGHT ON THE RECEIPT "WATER IN BLOWER CASE". I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OCTOBER OF 03 (AS A USED VEHICLE BUT STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH ONLY 18,408 MILES ON IT) BUT WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS PROBLEM NOW. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE SAME DEALER SINCE APRIL 9TH, 04. CAN YOU TELL ME IF THE RECALL WAS IN EFFECT AT THIS TIME OR HOW LONG THE RECALL WAS IN EFFECT? THIS IS VERY DISCOURAGING. WHERE ARE THE ETHICS FROM FORD FOR TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT NOTICED A LEAKAGE IN THE DASHBOARD DURING RAINY CONDITIONS. THE FLOOR WOULD BECOME WET AND THE BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED FUNCTIONING. SHE ONLY NOTICED THE FAILURE WHEN IT RAINED AND IT ONLY OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,724 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000.
SUDDEN BLOW OUT OF LEFT (DRIVERS)T FRONT TIRE WHILE BACK UP. TIRE WAS REMOVED AND STUCK ON FRONT SPRING. INSPECTION OF FRONT SPRING REVEALS THE SPRING BROKE INTO TWO PEICES. THE LOWER RUNG OF THE SPRING WAS FOUND UNDER THE VEHICLE. NOT REPAIRES AT THIS TIME WAITING FOR FORD SERVICE TO CONTACT IF FORD WILL COVER REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE PREPARING TO PLACE FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE COIL SPRING AROUND THE STRUTS FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE, WHICH CAUSED A FLAT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL; THEREFORE, NO COMPENSATION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TODAY IS THANKSGIVING. I DROVE HOME ON TUESDAY NIGHT (TWO NIGHTS AGO), A TRIP OF APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES FROM COLLEGE TO SEE MY FAMILY. LAST NIGHT, AS I PUT MY 2003 FORD TAURUS INTO DRIVE IN MY CHURCH PARKING LOT, I BEGAN TO GO FORWARD AND HEARD A GIGANTIC "BOOM." I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS FLAT (A NEW, AND EXPENSIVE TIRE). AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF, I DISCOVERED THAT MY COIL SPRING ON MY STRUT SNAPPED AND CAME THROUGH MY TIRE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RECALLED, AND I THINK, WITH IT BEING SO COMMON AND THE PART BEING JUNK, IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. BLOWER MOTOR FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 FORD TAURUS WITH 58,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS IN MY GARAGE AND JUST STARTED TO BACK OUT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG. THE FRONT LEFT TIRE BLEW OUT. AFTER PULLING OFF THE TIRE I DISCOVERED THAT THE SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. IF I HAD BIN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY 9 YEAR OLD SON AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER FORD TAURUS OWNERS HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SPRINGS SNAPPING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE ON A NATIONAL SCALE. EVERYONE ON THE WEBSITES ARE SAYING THAT FORD HAD A RECALL UNTIL THE 2001 MODEL YEAR. I PUT MY VIN # INTO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S WEBSITE AND SEARCHED FOR A RECALL BUT NOTHING CAME UP. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND ARE NOT STEPPING UP TO MAKE THEIR CUSTOMER'S WHOLE. *TR
HEAT/AC FAN BLOWS ONLY ON HIGH. REPLACED COWL PANEL AND INSTALLED RAIN HAT AND BLOWER RESISTOR 11/08; BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR FOUND DEFECTIVE 7/10 AND REPLACED. HEAT/AC FAN BLOWS ONLY ON HIGH TODAY 12/10. *TR
FORD TAURUS, HAS MANY PROBLEMS. MY FORD HAS HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AS WELL AS PROBLEMS WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR ON THE HEATER/AC. TRANSMISSION REBUILD JOB CONSISTED OF NEW TORQUE CONVERTER AS WELL AS NEW CLUTCH BANDS, THE SPLINES WERE STRIPED. AS FAR AS THE BLOWER, THE MOTOR MADE A NOISE FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN STOPPED. IF YA'LL WOULD RESEARCH THESE ISSUES YOU WILL FIND THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE A RECURRING ISSUES WITH THE 03 MODELS AND THE OTHERS WITH THIS TRANNY, AND BLOWER. ONE DAY MY HEATER STOPPED BLOWING. I FIRST CHECKED THE BLOWER MOTOR FUSE, WHICH WAS FINE. DURING THIS PROCESS I FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD WAS SOAKING WET. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE WATER APPARENTLY SHORTED OUT MY BLOWER MOTOR SO NOW I HAVE NO HEAT OR AIR. *TR

I OWN A 2003 FORD TAURUS WHICH EXPERIENCED A HEATER MOTOR AND HEATER SWITCH FAILURE LAST YEAR. I REPLACE THE COMPONENTS MYSELF FOR AROUND $250.00. THIS YEAR I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WATER IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AFTER HEAVY RAINS AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OR LOCATION OF THE WATER ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THIS WEEK WITH THE TORRENTIAL RAINS WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING, WATER WAS FOUND COMING OUT OF MY HEATER MOTOR AND HEATER AND DRAINING ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FOOT WELL CARPET WHILE USING MY HEATER AND DEFROSTER. ONCE I GOT HOME I REMOVED THE HEATER MOTOR FROM THE AIR DUCT AND APPROXIMATELY 8 OZ. OF WATER POURED OUT ON THE FLOOR. I SURMISED THE WATER OF THIS GREAT VOLUME WAS COMING IN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I SEARCH THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS SITUATION AND ON YOU WEB SITE I FOUND THERE WAS A COMPLIANCE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE ON MARCH 3, 2003 ON VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN OCTOBER 29, 2001 AND APRIL 27, 2002 REGARDING WINDSHIELD RETENTION REQUIREMENTS. I AM FILLING THIS COMPLAINT ON NOVEMBER 17, 2008 IN HOPE OTHER OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THIS DEFECT(S). THIS POSES A CONSIDERABLE FINANCIAL UNDERTAKING BY THE CONSUMER SHOULD THE WATER INFILTRATE THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS IN THE SUSPECT VEHICLES AND CAUSE CONSIDER ELECTRICAL COMPONENT DAMAGE WITHIN SAID VEHICLES. TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM FORD REGARDING MY 2003 FORD TAURUS SE WITH A MANUFACTURE DATE OF 12/02 VIN.#. I FEEL THE NHTSA SHOULD INSTITUTE AN NATIONAL RECALL ON SAID VEHICLES SINCE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A MAJOR FLEET MODEL DRIVEN VEHICLE AS WELL ONE THE HIGHEST VOLUME MODEL CARS DRIVEN IN FORDS HISTORY MY THE CONSUMER IN GENERAL. CURRENTLY, THE BLOWER ONLY WORKS ON THE HIGH SWITCH AND SHORTING OUT THE WIRING SWITCH. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED, BUT THE CONTACT WILL CALL THE DEALER SOON. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO 75 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL THROTTLE CABLE WAS FRACTURED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE CABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 FORD TAURUS SEDAN SE WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE PUT VERY FEW MILES ON IT MYSELF (ABOUT 3,000). TODAY I DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS ARE BOTH BROKEN. I HAD A FLAT TIRE IN THE LEFT REAR AND FOUND THAT THE COIL SPRING HAS BROKEN AND CUT THE TIRE. THE RIGHT COIL SPRING MUST HAVE BEEN BROKEN PREVIOUSLY BUT DID NOT CAUSE ANY TIRE DAMAGE (THAT I KNOW OF). LUCKILY THE FLAT HAPPENED AS I WAS EXITING ON AN OFFRAMP FROM THE HIGHWAY. THE COIL SPRINGS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED TODAY TO AVOID CONTINUED PROBLEMS (TOTAL COST $840 INCLUDING NEW TIRE). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND APPLIED EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE12033 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE TWO VEHICLES AND RARELY DRIVE MY NEWER CAR IN THE RAIN. I TOOK MY NEWER CAR ON VACATION AND WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN IT STARTED TO RAIN. A COUPLE DAYS AFTERWARDS I WAS HEADED TO WORK WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO FOG UP. I TURNED ON THE DEFROST FANS AND COULD BARELY HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING. I TURNED TO HIGH WHERE IT RAN FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE BEFORE COMPLETELY FAILING. I FIGURED THAT MAYBE MY BLOWER WAS FAILING. I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 TAURUS AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM (RECALL NUMBER 03V087000 AND COMPLAINT 10184014). FROM WHAT I AM HEARING, WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE BLOWER UNIT AND CAUSING IT TO FAIL. THE BLOWER IS IN A COMPLETELY USELESS DUE TO THIS LEAK. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $500 TO FIX. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A DESIGN FLAW IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A DESIGN FLAW ON THE VEHICLE. THE BLOWER WAS WORKING DURING AND UP TO THE SEVERAL HOURS OF DRIVING IN THE RAIN. *TR
TIRE WENT FLAT GOING 65 MPH ON A INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. FILLED THE TIRE UP WITH AIR THE NEXT DAY TO LOOK FOR POSSIBLE LEAK AND NOTICED VALVE STEM WAS CRACKED. I PURCHASED 4 TIRES IN JULY OF 2007. DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2008, 3 OF THE TIRES WENT FLAT DO TO CRACKED STEM VALVES. THE FIRST 3 TIRES THE STEM WAS REPLACED. THE TIRE THAT WENT FLAT ON THE HIGHWAY WAS TAKEN BACK TO POINT OF PURCHASED AND WAS REPLACED. *TR
I HAD THE PROBLEM THAT MY BLOWER WOULD ONLY WORK ON HIGH SPEED. MY MECHANIC KNEW RIGHT AWAY THAT IT WAS THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. SO WENT TO FORD AND BOUGHT A NEW ONE AND REPLACED IT. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WORKED ONLY ON HIGH. I HAD IT LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT A MONTH WHEN I LOST THE BLOWER COMPLETELY. WENT TO MY MECHANIC AGAIN AND HE TOOK OUT THE MOTOR, AT WHICH TIME WE TURNED IT OVER AND OUT CAME ABOUT A 1/2 CUP OF WATER. WATER IS ALL OVER THE GLOVE BOX. ALSO LIKE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE WINDSHIELD THE BUTTON RUBBER PIECE HAS EXPANDED SO WHAT FLOWS THROUGH THERE TO THE GLOVE BOX. *TR
I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS A THE CAMSHAFT SYCH. IT WAS MAKING A CHIRPING NOISE AND ITS GOING TO COST OVER 500 DOLLARS TO FIX. IF THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR WHY DON'T WE FIX IT? THERE IS EVEN A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE #04208. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
IN OCTOBER OF 2008, MY 2003 FORD TAURUS SES SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO MOVE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD TO BE REPLACED - THE VEHICLE HAD 41,086 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. COST OF REPAIR WAS $1260.96. *TR
DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT AWAY AT ABOUT 55 MPH., THE CAR SUDDENLY PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE DRIVER COULD NOT REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH RESULTED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. DRIVER AND PASSENGER DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING PRIOR TO THE SUDDEN PULL. THE CAR SPUN AROUND AND HIT THE GRAVEL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THEN CONTINUED TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL. AT LEAST 2 ROLLOVERS. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I'M CONCERNED THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM WITH SUSPENSION OR COIL SPRINGS SUDDENLY BLOWING OUT A TIRE. I WILL BE CONTACTING A MECHANIC ON MONDAY AND SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION. CAR IS TOTALED. INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER VEHICLE, BUT FORTUNATELY COVERS MEDICAL AND LIABILITY. MY 2003 FORD TAURUS BLOWER MOTOR STARTED TO WORK ONLY PART OF THE TIME AND THEN EVENTUALLY STOPPED COMPLETELY. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I LIVE IN NORTHERN MN WHERE WE TEMPERATURES AT THE END OF JAN BEGINNING OF FEB OF - 40 BELOW AND HIGHS OF - 5 BELOW. THE BLOWER IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. NOTICED POOL OF WATER ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. AT SAME TIME TRIED TO RUN DEFROSTER AND THE FAN WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL. CHECKED ALL FUSES WHICH WERE GOOD. MECHANIC ASSESSED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS NOT WORKING. CONTACTED FORD DEALER, WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND COULD BE FIXED AT MY EXPENSE. THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE COWL, SEAL THE LEAK AND REPLACE THE MOTOR. THIS IS NOT JUST AN INCONVENIENCE, BUT A SAFETY ISSUE. VISIBILITY IS AFFECTED WITH NO WAY TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS. *TR

THE FAN ON MY HEATER HAS GONE OUT ON ME THREE TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CARE IN AUGUST ON 2006 - JUST A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS. CAR HAD A LARGE LEAK OF TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS NOT ANY TROUBLE WITH SHIFTING GEARS BUT A WHINE, AT TIMES. TRIED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THIS PAST MONDAY AT 10AM. THEY WERE CLOSED DUE TO STORM DAMAGE AND ELECTRICITY OUTAGES STARTING SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WAS REFERRED TO TRANSMISSION COMPANY. TOLD IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES (I'M AT LITTLE MORE THAN 58,000). THE PRESSURE INSIDE CHANGES AND COMPUTER MAKES CHANGES THAT THEN CAUSES THE FLUID TO RISE THROUGH THE VENT. I'M BEEN TOLD IT IS GOING TO BE $1,816.96 REPAIR AND THREE DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE. THE REPAIR SHOP IS REBUILDING THE EXISTING TRANSMISSION. TECHNICIAN STATED UNSURE WHY FORD HAS NOT HAD A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING - ONCE REMOVED I FOUND RUSTY WATER IN THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY - ONCE PUT BACK IN ONLY HIGH WORKS. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AND RESISTER BUT UNTIL THE LEAK IS FIXED STOPPING THE WATER FROM ENTERING THIS AREA I WILL NEED TO REPLACE AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR DIED BECAUSE I LET OF THE GAS PEDAL DUE TO TRAFFIC SLOW DOWN. WHEN I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT DIED AGAIN. IT REPEATED ONE MORE TIME. THE THIRD TIME IT RESTARTED THE RPMS SHOT OVER 5000 AND WHEN I PUT IN GEAR THE RPMS CAME DOWN. *TR

ALSO, THE BRAKE PADS ON THE VEHICLE HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT THE PADS ON THE TAURUS ARE CHEAP AND WILL ERODE QUICKER THAN ON OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE A 2003 FORD TAURUS AND ON 8-7-08 I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY MOTHER'S DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A LOUD POP. AFTER INSPECTING EVERYTHING UNDER THE CAR, I FOUND THE REAR COIL SPRING BROKEN AND STICKING INTO MY LEFT REAR TIRE. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME ON 08/05/2008 AND THE CAR WOULD NOT THROTTLE DOWN. WHEN I CAME TO A STOPLIGHT THE CAR WAS JERKING FORWARD AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE. HAD I NOT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THE CAR WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE BEGAN TO "REDLINE" IN RPMS UNTIL I SHUT IT DOWN. UPON INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE, IT APPEARED THAT THE ACCELERATOR CABLE SIMPLY "FELL OFF". *TR

MUSTY SMELL THAT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO ONES HEALTH. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE BOOT FREE BUT DEALER DID REPLACE WITH NEW SEAL AND SILICONED IT UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL PART. BILL WAS $775 BUT DEALER DID TAKE $200 OFF. I FEEL THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE AND NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY AT MANUFACTURE AND WE BOUGHT NEW. I FEEL THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND FORD SHOULD DO A RECALL AND PAY 100% OF MY EXPENSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY PERFORMED THE NECESSARY REPAIRS, WHICH INCLUDED BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS, BOTH TIE RODS, BOTH STRUTS, AND ONE BEARING PLATE. AN ALIGNMENT WAS ALSO PERFORMED. BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, NOTHING COULD BE DONE. ALL THE REPAIRS WERE MADE WITHIN FOUR DAYS AT A LOCAL GARAGE AT THE COST OF $998.77. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,957 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
