TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR, CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND THE THROTTLE VALVE WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,796 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000. UPDATED 4/2/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE THROTTLE WAS STICKING. UPDATED 04/16/12
THROTTLE STICKS AND THE ENGINE IDLES AS HIGH AS 2,500 RPM WITHOUT APPLYING ANY PRESSURE TO GAS, CAUSING THE CAR TO INCREASE ITS SPEED WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS. EVEN WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO STOP AND I MUST ALLOW ADDITIONAL ROOM TO STOP BECAUSE THE CAR IS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN WHILE I'M APPLYING THE BRAKES. THIS OCCURS AT RANDOM AND APPROXIMATELY 1-3 TIMES DAILY. THE SEVERITY OF THE UNWARRANTED ACCELERATION SEEMS TO BECOME MORE OBTRUSIVE AS THE MILEAGE INCREASES. I'M DISAPPOINTED AND FRANKLY SHOCKED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FAULTY ACCELERATOR, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THEY HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY MANY OTHER CONCERNED CONSUMES SUCH AS MYSELF. UNTIL THEN, I CAN ONLY HOPE THE BRAKES CAN CONTINUE TO OVERPOWER THE ACCELERATOR THAT SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF ITS OWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONTINUOUSLY, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND TORQUE CONVERTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE12005 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES) THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. SHE STATED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER STATED THAT SHE WOULD NEED A RAIN CAP EXTENSION INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. TRANSAXLE GOING OUT WITH NO SIGNS OF PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING TURN TRANSAXLE WENT OUT WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF TURN IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. WAS LUCKY NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING LOT CLOSE ENOUGH WHERE I COULD COAST INTO SAFELY. NO GEARS EXCEPT PARK IT WAS LIKE ALL OTHER GEARS WAS NEUTRAL. I AM GOING TO HAVE TRANSAXLE REPLACED OR REBUILT. *TR
THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON MY 2005 TAURUS BROKE (69000) WHICH PREVENTED ME FROM ENGAGING A GEAR. I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND MY DRIVEWAY IS A SLIGHT SLOPE SO TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING I ROLLED INTO THE STREET. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS TRAVELING ON THE STREET AT THE TIME BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE DISASTROUS THEN IT WAS. *TR
WHEN IT IS COLD (30 OR BELOW DEGREES) THE ENGINES DIES RIGHT AFTER YOU START IT. I WAS GOING 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE ENGINE JUST DIED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED SINCE DEC. 2009, MY MACHANIC CANNOT SEE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. HE KEEPS REPLACING PARTS, BUT, APPARTENTLY NOT THE RIGHT ONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT RELATIVELY HIGH ENGINE RPMS AND WOULD ACCELERATE WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT AT INTERVALS OF TEN MINUTES. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME UNUSUALLY HARD AND RESISTANT WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 30 MPH, HE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN ENGINEER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,296 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,296.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50-55 MPH THERE WAS AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITHOUT APPLICATION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, SHE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 160,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, AND THE OIL AND FILTER WERE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,665 . THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,661.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK. AFTER REPEATED BRAKE APPLICATION HE WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY, AND A MECHANIC CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE FAILURE RESURFACED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE REPAIR FACILITY. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE DETENT CABLE WAS DISCONNECTED FROM ITS ANCHOR ON THE THROTTLE BODY. IT WAS REPAIRED TEMPORARILY UNTIL THE CABLE PART WAS ORDERED. WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING, MY CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY CAR WAS GOING 60 MPH. I SLOWED DOWN BY USING THE BRAKE, BUT AS SOON AS MY FOOT WAS OFF THE BRAKE MY CAR BEGAN TO QUICKLY ACCELERATE AGAIN. I PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPM'S WENT UP TO 5. I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. THEY DISCONNECTED THE CABLE AND ORDERED A NEW ONE. IT HELPED FOR A FEW MONTHS. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING ON YOUR WEBSITE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY ACCIDENTS OR CRASHES ASSOCIATED WITH THESE COMPLAINTS, REST ASSURED IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. CITIZENS ARE EXPECTED TO ACT RESPONSIBLY BY FOLLOWING THE LAWS, PAYING THEIR TAXES, CARRYING AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE, ETC. WHY ARE THE AUTOMOBILE MAKERS NOT BEING HELD TO THE SAME STANDARDS OF RESPONSIBILITY? *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED WITH NO WANING. VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING ON HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC. NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEARS. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE MASS AMOUNTS OF COMPLAINTS ON SAME TYPE FAILURE. TORQUE CONVERTER FAILS. ALL FORD KNOWLEDGEABLE MECHANICS REPAIR THESE PROBLEMS ON REGULAR BASIS. IF YOU GOOGLE "FORD TAURUS TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEMS" YOU WILL GET BACK 51,000 HITS. THAT IS A LOT FOR FORD TO SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. IT COST ME $1035.00 TO HAVE THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED ON A 2005 MODEL 52,000 MILE VEHICLE. I THINK THAT IS A PROBLEM. WE WERE VERY LUCKY BECAUSE WHEN THE CAR QUIT MOVING A SEMI TRUCK CAME VERY CLOSE TO RUNNING OVER US. I HAVE CORRESPONDED WITH FORD BY EMAIL AND LETTER AND THEY SAID TO GO AWAY. *TR
HAVE A 2005 FORD TAURUS FLEX FUEL. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN IT ACCELERATED LIKE THE GAS PEDAL WAS TO THE FLOOR! HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP IT. NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN MY STEERING WHEEL IS MAKING A STRANGE SOUND LIKE MARBLES ROLLING AROUND IN IT AND MY CRUISE CONTROL WON'T ENGAGE. THE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP AS THOUGH IT IS WORKING BUT YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND IT SLOWS DOWN. I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR THE TAURUS BEFORE AND AFTER THE 2005 MODEL FOR FIRE HAZARD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL GOING OUT BUT NOT FOR THE 2005. THEY NEED TO RECALL IT AND FIX BEFORE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS FILED OR SOMEONE DIES! *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED IN TRAFFIC - NEARLY CAUSED ACCIDENT WITH SUDDEN STOPPING IN TRAFFIC - THIS HAPPENED AT 56000 MILES - DEALERSHIP DID QUICK FIX - SAME THING HAPPENED AT 51000 MILES - TORQUE CONVERTER FAILS WITH NO WARNING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A PAVED TWO LANE ROAD THE SIDE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF OUR 2005 FORD TAURUS DEPLOYED CAUSING APPROXIMATELY $2000 IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 64,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT AND WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER FREMONT FORD. THE DEALER ANALYZED THE INCIDENT AND DECIDED THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A SKID. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AS IT WAS TRAVELING DOWN A STRAIGHT TWO LANE HIGHWAY. WE APPEALED THE DECISION TO FORD LEGAL AND WAS TOLD SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I ARGUED AIRBAGS WERE NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD EXPECT TO WEAR OUT AND FORD SHOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGE. FORD STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS ON THEIR VEHICLES AND THERE WAS NO APPEAL PROCESS TO THEIR DECISION. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD TAURUS SE THAT I BOUGHT FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AT 52045 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. SHE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH WITH A SEMI BEHIND HER WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, DROPPING HER SPEED TO 20MPH. FORD WILL NOT DO ANY THING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND, IF FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHY THEY WON'T CORRECT IT. MY DAUGHTER COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR INJURED, AND YET THEY WON'T CLAIM FAULT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY. AS A CONSEQUENCE, HIS RISK FOR A VEHICLE CRASH WAS INCREASED. A MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, SINCE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THAT I REMEMBER I EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE SPEED DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE COMING DETACHED AND CATCHING ON THE THROTTLE CABLE. ONE INSTANCE OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED TO OVER 85 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKES COULD NOT SLOW THE CAR, NOR COULD LIFTING UP THE GAS PEDAL. THE SECOND INSTANCE OCCURRED WHILE ON AN OFF-RAMP FROM A HIGHWAY AND THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH WHEN THE CAR SPED TO 45 MPH. BRAKING ONLY SLOWED THE CAR MINIMALLY. ON BOTH OCCASIONS I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE CAR STOP ACCELERATING BY ACTUALLY PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND UNKNOWINGLY CAUSING THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE TO UNHOOK ITSELF FROM THE THROTTLE CABLE. I TOOK A LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AFTER THE INCIDENTS AND NOTICED THE ISSUE, I ZIP-TIED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE IN PLACE BUT WOULD APPRECIATE THIS MATTER TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR

2005 FORD TAURUS CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF GAS TO BEGIN TO BRAKE AS TRAFFIC STARTED TO SLOW. I BEGAN TO APPLY FULL PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CAR WAS STILL TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP IN TRAFFIC AND I PARKED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. AFTER THIS THE ACCELERATION WAS NORMAL. HOWEVER, MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND HAD ONCE HAD FORD CHECK THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY STATED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG IT. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IF I TAP THE GAS PEDAL DURING ACCELERATION, THE CAR MIGHT STOP SURGING AND A LOUD POP CAN BE HEARD. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 3/12/12. *TR
I OWN A 2005 FORD TAURUS SE WAGON WITH 33K MILES. WHILE DRIVING THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH, I BEGAN TO EASE OVER INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN MOVE BACK INTO THE LEFT LANE WHICH SENT MY FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL INTO A MAJOR OSCILLATION WHICH I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCE IN A CAR BEFORE. I DON'T SEE ANY RECALLS FROM FORD ON THIS ISSUE BUT WONDERING IF YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED ANY SIMILAR ACCOUNTS BY OTHER OWNERS. NO TELLING WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THIS OCCURRED DURING WINTER DRIVING OR WET ROADS. ALSO, IT HAPPENED ORIGINALLY WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH A SIMILAR REQUIREMENT TO DO A SUDDEN CORRECTION BUT IN THIS CASE SHE WAS TRAVELING LESS THAN 40 MILES AN HOUR ON A CITY STREET WHEN AGAIN THE FRONT END WENT INTO A MAJOR OSCILLATION AND DIFFICULT TO BRING BACK UNDER CONTROL AND THE CAR BACK TO CENTER. 1. WAS BACKING UP FROM A PARKING SPACE AND THE AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL JUST WENT OFF. DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. 2. CONTUSION OF FACE, SCALP, AND NECK EXCEPT EYES, CONTUSION OF HAND AND ARM, HYPERTENSION. 3. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, FORD MOTOR COMPANY REQUESTED THE MODULE BE SENT TO THEM BEFORE THEY WOULD REPLACE THE AIRBAGS. TO THIS DATE FORD HAS NOT FIXED THE VEHICLE OR GIVEN ANY REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED. WE FEEL THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND EVEN IF THEY REPAIR IT WE WILL STILL NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING FOR FEAR OF AIRBAG COMING OUT AND HURTING US AGAIN WITHOUT ANY IMPACT. *TR

DURING WARMER MONTHS VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE SPEED IS ABOUT 30 MPH UP PASS 60MPH. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO FLOOR TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. WE HAVE TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. THEY FIND NOTHING . WE HAVE ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE CABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECURRING FAILURE WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. HE COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED TRANSMISSION AND WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 31,000 MILES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED NOR WAS THE MANUFACTURER CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
OUR COMPANY HAS 2 OF THE 2005 FORD TAURUS. BOTH BOUGHT NEW FROM FORD DEALER. WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER IN YEAR 2009, WE EXPERIENCED MAJOR PROBLEM WITH BOTH. THE VEHICLES WOULD ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING AND IF CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON AT THE TIME, THE DRIVER COULD NOT BRAKE OR TURN CRUISE OFF TO GET VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. THIS FIRST HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN IT HAPPENED ON CITY STREET AT STOP, BOTH VEHICLES WOULD REV RPMS WHEN AT A STOP TO THE POINT THAT THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE TO KEEP BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE DESCRIBED AS "WITH AS MUCH FORCE AS THEY COULD" AND PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL TO KEEP VEHICLE STILL. THESE WERE BOTH TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT WHICH THEY BOUGHT AND NO RECALL HAD SHOWN UP FOR THE SERVICE DEPT. AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS TO FIX WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS WRONG, TO NO AVAIL, THE SERVICE DEPT FINALLY EXPERIENCED IT FIRST HAND WHILE BRINGING VEHICLE IN TO SERVICE DEPT. NOT SURE WHAT THE FIX FINALLY ENTAILED. I HAVE RECENTLY READ AN ARTICLE SPEAKING OF THE INVESTIGATION INTO STUCK THROTTLE ON THE 2005 MODELS AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE THESE INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY 2005 FORD TAURUS SEEMS TO HAVE A MYSTERIOUS PROBLEM THAT TWO DEALERSHIPS AND MY MECHANIC CANNOT RECREATE. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE ABS LIGHT AND CHECK BRAKE SIGNAL FLASHES, AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR STALLS...STOPS DEAD IN ITS TRACK. IF DOES NOT HAPPEN ON A COLD START ONLY AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING DURING THE DAY. I TOOK IT TO ONE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED ENGINE INTAKE VALUE. THAT SEEMED TO WORK FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR. ONE YEAR TO THE DAY, IT STARTS AGAIN. THE NEXT FORD DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS AND COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY REPLACE THE AIR INTAKE VALVE, SPARK PLUGS AND A NEW BELT. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED 5 DAYS LATER BUT MUCH WORSE. THE CAR STALLED 4 TIMES IN ONE TRIP. THE FOLLOWING DAY, IT WORKED ON THE COLD START AND 4 HOURS LATER, IT STALLED TWICE GOING 1500 FEET. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR NO ONE CAN FIX IT. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST MACHINE SHOWS NO ERROR. *TR

I TOOK MY CAR IN TO MAROONE FORD IN DELRAY BEACH FL FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SUGGESTED I GET AN INDUCTION FLUSH,SINCE THAT TIME MY CAR HAS SURGED NOW AND THEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK JUST AS I DO EVERY DAY MY CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE FUNNY IT FELT LIKE THE WIND WAS PUSHING ME ALONG AND THE CAR WAS SPEEDING UP. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD THE CAR SEEMED TO BE FINE. AVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN MORE AND MORE. WE TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE INDUCTION SYSTEM CLEANED OUT AFTER PAYING FOR THAT THE CAR SEEMED TO WORK FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE AUTO SHOP TO TRY AGAIN. *TR

JANUARY 16, 2009 I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY CAR ACCELERATOR STICKING. I HAD TO RIDE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE BECAUSE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE TO HIGH SPEED IF I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE RETAINER ON THROTTLE BODY BROKEN AND THE THROTTLE BODY, GASKET AND CRUISE CONTROL CABLE NEED REPLACEMENT AT $249+ TAX, PLUS I HAD TO PAY $43 JUST TO FIND ALL THIS OUT. THEY HAD TO CUT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE OUT SO THE ACCELERATOR WOULD STOP STICKING. I DECLINED THE REPAIR, AS I FELT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND/OR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARRANTY REPAIR. SO NOW I HAVE NO CRUISE CONTROL, WHICH I PAID FOR WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2005. I FEEL FORD SHOULD FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS REPAIR, SINCE THIS WAS APPARENTLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, AND CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. *TR

THIS FAILURE DATE IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST OF 2 FAILURES. THE FIRST FAILURE RESULTED IN THE CRUISE JUST BEING INOPERATIVE. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE CABLE AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL AT APPROXIMATELY 87000 MI DURING NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR. THIS TIME THE CABLE UNHOOKED AGAIN HOLDING THE THROTTLE OPEN THIS TIME CAUSING MY WIFE TO HAVE TO STAND ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. WHEN SHE PUT IT IN PARK THE ENGINE IDLED AT APPROXIMATELLY 3500 RPM. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND DEMONSTRATED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER HOW THE CLIP ON END OF CRUISE CABLE HELD THE THROTTLE OPEN. HE AGREED THAT THIS CONDITION WAS UNSAFE. HE RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE CABLE AGAIN AT OUR EXPENSE. WE DECLINED. NO POINT IN PUTTING A PART ON THAT IS GOING TO FAIL BASED ON THE HISTORY AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT NEXT TIME. REPAIRED IT MYSELF BY PINNING THE CLIP SO IT CAN NOT COME APART AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH NO PREVIOUS INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE RPM WENT UP. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT MOVE NO FORWARD OR REVERSE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE CALLED LATER THAT DAY AND STATED THAT THE CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT IT HAS NO PRESSURE AND THAT THE COULD PUT IN A REMANUFACTURED ONE IN CHEAPER THAN REPAIRING THIS ONE THE TOTAL WILL BE IN HE AREA OF $3,100.00 I HAVE GOOGELED THIS AND HAD OVER 147,000 HITS. AN ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED IN THE DASHBOARD TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL IN MY 2005 FORD TAURUS CAR ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2008 AT 6:30AM. WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF SMELLING THE SMOKE MY ENTIRE CAR BURNED TO THE GROUND. I COMPLAINED TO FORD ABOUT THIS HAPPENING AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.
