TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT LESS THAN 56,000 MILES.
THIS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A BUSY STREET. IT SLOWED DOWN,SPUTTERED,AND WOULD NOT MOVE.IT WAS IN GEAR (D) DRIVE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST IT OFF THE MAIN STREET TO SAFETY.THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CHECK TRANSMISSION ALERTS WERE ON. ACCELERATOR SEEMED STUCK AS WELL. THERE ARE ONLY 77,000 MILES. I AM TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS GONE. THERE ARE MORE THAT 170 COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS CAR. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPAIR THESE TRANSMISSIONS. SOME OWNERS HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS FORTUNATE,I WAS ONLY ON A BUSY STREET. TURNING WAS ALSO DIFFICULT. NHTSA PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
UPON RETURNING TO THE TAURUS IN A PARKING LOT, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE. THE GEAR SHIFT MOVED AS FREELY AS IT NORMALLY DOES, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED ACROSS TOWN. OUR MECHANIC TOLD ME TODAY THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS STRIPPED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THAT METAL PARTICLES FROM THE STRIPPED OUT PIECES HAD TO BE CLEANED OUT. TOTAL COST WILL BE ABOUT $1800. MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH TAURUSES AND WINDSTARS OF THAT TIME, AND A LOOK AT THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PAGE CONFIRMS IT. DISAPPOINTING THAT FORD WILL NOT RECALL FOR WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. MY INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 88K MILES.
THE TIMING IN THE ENGINE IS FLAWED, YHE CAR STAHAS PERIODICALLY.
2005 FORD TAURUS. CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR NUMEROUS VEHICLE REPAIRS. *SMD *JS
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD TAURUS HOME WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. I TAPPED THE GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES AND THIS HELPED FOR A SECOND THEN IT BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AGAIN. IT PICKED UP SPEED AND I HAD TO RIDE THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO MY HOUSE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I HAVE SEEN THAT OTHER 2005 FORD TAURUS OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AND THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. IF YOU OWN A 2005 FORD TAURUS BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. ANOTHER COMPLAINT: MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN IT STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, ON APRIL 28, 2016 I HAD TO PUT OUT $1100.00 TO FIX THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON MY 2005 FORD TAURUS. THIS AMOUNT SET MY BUDGET OVER THE TOP. I HAD TO BORROW THE MONEY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AGAIN, NO RECALL AGAIN. NO RESOLUTION.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED BY IT SELF AND I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKES AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP I FINALLY PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RAISE TO 4000 RPM I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE SAME THINGS HAPPEN I KICKED THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND IT IDLE DOWN AGAIN, I PUT IT IN DRIVE AFTER A FEW BLOCKS THE SAME THING HAPPEN.I DID RESEARCH ON LINE THIS A ISSUE WITH THESE CARS, I CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL CAN YOU PLEASE HELP. SOMETHING IS RATTLING INSIDE MY STEERING WHEEL BEHIND THE HORN BY THE AIR BAG. IT SOUNDS LIKE A COIN RATTLING AROUND INSIDE THE STERRING WHEEL WHEN I MAKE A TURN. WHEN I LOOKED THIS UP ON LINE ALL I KEPT READING WAS IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT A RECALL. I'M AFRAID IF THAT AIR BAG WAS TO GO OFF THAT LOOSE PIECE FLOATING AROUND IN THERE COULD PUT A EYE OUT OR WORSE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE 2005 TAURUS WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE, I WENT TO HAUL THE CAR TO THE AUTO MECHANIC WHEN I CAME TO THE CAR I STARTED IT AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO OVER 3000 RPM'S W/O TOUCHING THE THROTTLE, I WAS ABLE TO LOAD THE CAR INTO A TRAILER AND THE NEXT MORNING WHEN UNLOADING AT THE AUTO MECHANIC AGAIN THE CAR ACCELERATED TO OVER 3000 RPM'S MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO UNLOAD, THE NOISE TURNED OUT TO BE A BROKEN FLEX JOINT ON THE EXHAUST AND WITH THAT REPAIRED IT STATED TO IDLE NORMALLY, THE CAR WAS BROUGHT HOME AND MY WIFE STARTED DRIVING IT AGAIN. AS SHE WAS DRIVING IT TO SCHOOL TO DROP OFF THE KIDS THE CAR ACCELERATED AGAIN ON ITS OWN AND SHE HAD A GREAT DIFFICULTY STOPPING IT AND HAD TO SHUT IT OFF ON THE ROAD, A FRIEND THEN GOT THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND PARKED INTO THE GRASS BECAUSE IT WAS STILL ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE CAR WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTO MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED, IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR 4 DAYS AND HAS ACCELERATED FOR HIM AS WELL. THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTION WITH THE ACCELERATOR, THE FLOOR MATS HAVE BEEN REMOVED A MONTH AGO FOR CLEANING AND NEVER PUT BACK. NO ENGINE CODES ARE BEING DISPLAYED. AND SYSTEM CHECK ON CAR EVERYTHING CHECKS OK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ACCELERATOR WOULD STICK AT A HIGH RPM WHEN STATIONARY AS WELL AS IN MOTION. THIS WOULD OCCUR ERRATICALLY. THE IDOL CONTROL VALVE WAS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE THE MECHANIC NOTICED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE CABLE WAS REMOVED AND NOT REPLACED. THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE WAS REPLACED A THIRD TIME WITH A MOTORCRAFT PART.
THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO MY SON'S 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES AND SPEEDS UP AUTOMATICALLY RESULTING IN GREAT DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING AND STOPPING THE VEHICLE. EVEN WHEN BREAKING FORCEFULLY, THE VEHICLE TRIES TO SPEED UP. EVEN IN PARK, THE ENGINE REVS UP TO HIGH RPM WITH FOOT OFF OF ACCELERATOR. THIS RESULTS IN A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS FIRST OCCURRED IN 2014 AND WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY EVALUATED THE CAR AND WORKED ON THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. I BELIEVE WE FILED A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA THEN. PROBLEM BEGAN HAPPENING AGAIN RECENTLY. MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME TO KENTUCKY FROM WISCONSIN AND IT BEGAN ACCELERATING AND SPEEDING UP. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED OFF OF THE ROAD. HE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO A SERVICE CENTER. THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS SOME RESIDUAL CLOGGING AND BUILD-UP THAT WAS CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO GET STUCK OPEN. THEY CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE AND SENT HIM ON HIS WAY. A FEW HOURS LATER, IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC ON I-65 IN INDIANA DRIVING AT 70 MHP. HE WAS IN A PANIC AS TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING AHEAD OF HIM AND HE WAS STRUGGLING TO GET CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE OR TO SLOW DOWN. ESSENTIALLY, HE WAS CHARGING AT SLOWED TRAFFIC. HE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER DANGEROUSLY THROUGH THE SLOWED TRAFFIC UNTIL HE GOT TO AN EXIT RAMP. HE WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP BY APPLYING THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET WITH FULL FORCE, APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, THEN QUICKLY PUTTING THE ENGINE IN PARK. I DROVE UP TO INDIANA TO PICK HIM UP. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY REVS UP WHILE IN PARK. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO LOUISVILLE. WE ARE VERY LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT RESULT IN A SERIOUS OF FATAL ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WE HAVE A CALL IN TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS. PLEASE RE-OPEN AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE.
WHILE IDLING, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS ON, AND REACHED 60 MPH BEFORE IT COULD BE BRAKED DOWN.
MY 2005 FORD TAURUS GAS PEDAL STICKS CAUSING ME TO SPEED HAVE USE FOOT TO PULL UP GAS PEDAL
TAKATA RECALL TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND THEN IT JUST WENT OUT. SO HAD IT FIXED AND IT COST ME OVER $ 2500. NOW A YEAR TO DATE 07/ 08/2017 IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND CAN NOT AFFORD IT AGAIN. OH OF COURSE WHEN YOU TAKE IT IN IT WON'T DO IT. IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING IN THE CITY BETWEEN LIKE 1ST AND 2ND. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME.
MY THROTTLE IS STUCK. MY CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN AND FIGHTS WHEN I TRY TO SLOW IT DOWN OR STOP. THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE MY CAR WHETHER I AM DRIVING SLOW OR FAST.
WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE REVS UP AND MY CAR STARTS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I TRY TO LIFT THE GAS PEDAL AND APPLY THE BRAKE BUT IT'S HARD TO TRY TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. WHEN I FIRST STAT MY CAR IT IDLES HIGH FOR A MOMENT BUT THEN GOES BACK TO "NORMAL" AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO. THIS IS REALLY SCARY, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN YOU'RE DOING 70MPH AND CAR DECIDES TO DO 90MPH OUT OF NOWHERE.

THE VEHICLE ALSO FELT AS IF IT WERE ACCELERATING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK MY CAR HAS ACCELERATED WITHOUT ME STEPPING ON THE GAS. BOTH TIMES THE ENGINE HAS REVVED TO 4-5000 RPMS AND I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKES EXTREMELY HARD TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAS BEEN FRIGHTENING TO SAY THE LEAST. BOTH EVENTS HAVE HAPPENED AS I SLOWED TO TURN. ONCE TO GET ON A FREEWAY AND ONCE TO ENTER A PARKING LOT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, I TURNED IT OFF FOR 90 MINUTES. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE ENGINE REVVED WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME MAKE/MODEL/YEAR BUT MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. WHY? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
THE ACCELERATOR CABLE BROKE OF WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CABLE SNAPPED WHILE ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND NEARING A TURN. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE TURN, BUT THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT TO SLOW DOWN. WHILE ALL OF THIS WAS GOING ON, THE RPMS WERE GOING UP AND DOWN ALL OVER THE PLACE AS THE CAR TRIED TO ACCELERATE.
2005 FORD TAURUS WITH 53,000 MILES HAS A PROBLEM THAT THE ENGINE ACCELERATES ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE ALSO REVS UP TO 4000RPM IN PARK ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE MUST BE TURNED OFF AND THE ACCELERATOR MUST BE PRESSED HARD TO "RESET" THE PROBLEM. BASED ON RESEARCH ONLINE AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT AND ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR.
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. I WAS DRIVING GOING 25 IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 25 TO 60 ON ITS OWN. I THREW THE VEHICLE IN PARK BUT THE "RPM X 1000" CONTINUED TO CLIMB PASS 3 EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. CRAZILY I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND IT CAME BACK DOWN TO NORMAL. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM. I SEE THAT MANY FORD & MERCURY OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD A RECALL ON THE FORD TAURUS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.

NOTE: THIS ISSUE IS MUCH WORSE IN THE COLDER SEASON ESPECIALLY AFTER RAIN/ SLEET, OR SNOW. BIGGEST CONCERN - ONCE IT OPENS, IT WON'T CLOSE/LOCK SHUT. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS VOLUNTARY LIMITED RECALL BY FORD AS A SAFETY RECALL FOR ALL FORD PRODUCTS.
I WAS REAR ENDED AT THE INTERSECTION OF HOWARD AVE, AND KINNICKINNIC AVE. THE LIGHT WAS GREEN THERE WERE 2 VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME NOT MOVING FORWARD. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY WITH BRAKES APPLIED THAN AS I LOOK UP IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR A FORD F150 REAR ENDED ME. (RED AND GRAY) I REPORTED THE CLAIM TO MY INSURANCE AND HIS. I ALSO CONTACTED THE ST FRANCIS POLICE TO BUT THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A CLAIM HERE.
"TAKARA RECALL" MY THROTTLE HAS BEEN STICKING AND NOT RELEASING AND WHEN I THROW IT IN NEUTRAL IT IDLES AT 4000RPMS AND ONLY SOMETIMES WILL IT KICK DOWN MOST OF THE TIME IT KILLS THE ENGINE WHEN IT KICKS DOWN EVEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING 45MPH.
THE 2005 FORD TAURUS WAS BOUGHT IN APRIL 2015 FROM A DEALERSHIP. ON NEW YEARS EVE I WAS DRIVING AND REALIZED THAT MY GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK AND NOT JUST STUCK BUT SPEEDING UP. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE CAR FROM GOING OVER 75 WAS FOR ME TO KEEP PRESSING THE BRAKES. I WAS IN A 55 ZONE AND HAVING TO TRY AND AVOID OTHERS UNTIL I COULD TRY AND GET THE CAR TO STOP. WHEN COMING TO A STOP I HAD TO PUT ALL MY WEIGHT ON THE BRAKES JUST TO KEEP THE CAR FROM TAKING OFF. THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW SCARED I WAS. AFTER HAVING A FRIEND TELLING ME TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR, I DID AND THERE IT WAS. MY QUESTION IS WHY WAS THIS CAR NEVER REPAIRED BEFORE SELLING IT TO ANYONE. THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE NEVER LET THIS CAR OFF THE LOT WITHOUT BEING FIXED. THE 15 MIN OF FEAR I WENT THROUGH, NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THE 15 MIN OF FEAR I HAD THINKING I WAS GOING TO HURT OTHERS, SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. BEFORE THIS HAPPEN THE CAR WAS FINE, UNTIL I WENT TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ONTO THE FREEWAY. WHEN GETTING SOMEWHERE SAFE I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN. THE RPM WENT FROM 0 TO 4.

CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE OF IT. NOT SAFE AT ALL. WHEN PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY EVERY DAY IT DOES IT AND SHOOTS ME INTO THE DRIVEWAY FAST ALMOST HITTING GARAGE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE ME OR MY KIDS ARE HURT BECAUSE OF IT.
I HAVE A CAR THAT REVS TO 3 ON START. ON DRIVING OR BACKING IT 'CHUGS' ON IT'S OWN AND HAS JUMPED 3 FT BACK WHEN BACKING UP. IT STALL AT STOP SIGN/RED LIGHTS. IT "CHUGS" EVEN WHEN CAR HAS WARMED UP AND WILL "CHUG" AT EACH STOP AND START. CITY DRIVING IS IMPOSSIBLE AS ARE PARKING LOTS. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE SPEN $450. ON REPAIRS. I EVEN WENT TO THE FORD DEALER, SAME THING. TRIAL AND ERROR AND IT IS NOT FIXED AND IS GETTING TOO EXPENSIVE. I NEED A SOLUTION TO THIS. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS OF HORROR DRIVING THIS CAR AND I HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN ON A VERY REGULAR BASIS. PLEASE HELP!
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH MY CAR SUDDENLY EXCELLERATED TO A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED I WAS ON A CITY STREET WITH VERY FEW CARS AT THE TIME BUT BECAME FRIGHTENED BECAUSE THE BRAKES SEEMED INOPERABLE I HAD TO PRESS VERY HARD AND FINALLY THE CAR SLOWED BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A WEEK I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT THE CAR HAS 111200 MILES BUT HAS BEEN SERVICED CONSTANTLY BY THE FORD DEALERSHIPS.
AS I TRIED TO SLOW FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I MANAGED TO BRING IT TO A STOP WITH THE BRAKE, BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AND I COULD BARELY KEEP IT FROM LURCHING FORWARD. I TAPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO NORMAL. AT THE NEXT LIGHT, IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS TIME I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE ENGINE REVVED TO 4000 RPM. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, BUT WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, THE ENGINE WAS STILL AT 4000 RPM. I TAPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR A COUPLE OF TIMES AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,500.
THE CAR REVS TO 3 RPM'S ON START. EVENTUALLY, IT MAY KICK DOWN. AS YOU START OFF, REVERSE OR DRIVE, THE CAR "CHUGS" AND HAS JUMPED BACK 3 FT WHILE I WAS BACKING UP. IT MAY STALL AT STOP SIGN/RED LIGHT. IT "CHUGS" AT EACH SLOW DOWN AND START. VERY DANGEROUS. IT IS NECESSARY AND VERY DANGEROUS AND UNNATURAL, BUT LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND RIGHT ON THE GAS IS MANDATORY. ALSO VERY DANGEROUS. PARKING LOTS ARE HAZARDOUS, AS IS MY PARKING AT HOME. THE CAR "CHUGS" COMPLETELY ON ITS OWN AND IF ONE IS NOT COMPLETELY AWARE AND PREPARED WILL JUMP 3 FEET AND HIT WHAT EVER IS NEAR.

WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION COIL, IDLER AIR CONTROL VALVE, AND OXYGEN SENSOR WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.

WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING, THROTTLE BECAME STUCK OPEN CAUSING CAR TO RACE FORWARD. SHE APPLIED BRAKES BUT HAD DIFFICULTY. SHE MANAGED TO GET CAR TO STOP BUT ENGINE WAS RACING. TRANNY WENT OUT WHILE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. CAR WENT DOWN TO 15 MPH. WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY OTHER VEHICLES. WAS NOT AWARE OF THE MANUFACTURE DEFECT AT THE TIME. FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL EVEN THOUGH A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF SAME MAKE/MODEL/YEAR WERE AFFECTED.

AS THE CAR GETS TO ABOUT 35-40MPH IT BEGINS TO ACCELERATE CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO TAP SEVERAL TIMES THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE. THE CARS ACCELERATOR WILL ALSO MANY TIMES, STICK AS IF ITS IN CRUISE CONTROL, BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL IS OFF. THIS WEEK I GOOGLED HOW TO FIX AND SAW MANY COMPLAINTS, RECALL ON ALMOST 500,000 FORD TAURUS AS WELL AS YOUR PURSUIT TO RESOLVE. I WOULD NEED IT FIXED BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS OCCURS. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT ON THE SAME PROBLEM. IN THE PAST WEEK MY CAR STARTED ACCELERATING WITH THE RPMS UP TO 4000. THE FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. WHILE IN NEUTRAL I REVVED THE GAS BUT IT TOOK A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE RPMS REVERTED TO NORMAL. I EXPERIENCED THIS IN THE PAST A FEW YEARS AGO AND MADE A SIMILAR COMPLAINT. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE CABLE AND I SENT IT IN TO BE ANALYZED. I CALLED MY MECHANIC TODAY AND HE IS SURE IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM BECAUSE IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE IF WAS EXITING AN OFF RAMP FROM THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS TIME I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AGAIN AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL HARD TWICE AND THE ENGINE WHEN TO NORMAL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM JUST HAPPY IT IS NOT WINTER SO I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF CONTROLLING THIS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT NOTHING WAS DONE INITIALLY AND EVEN IF I WANTED TO SELL THIS CAR I WOULD NOT WANT ANYONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS POTENTIALLY HARMFUL PROBLEM. I AM GETTING THIS REPAIRED AGAIN BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO RECALL.
I SAW A RECALL NOTICE IN THE NEWS: 06N07 7807 FOR MY VEHICLE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PCM RECALIBRATING FOR THE FLEX FUEL. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICES BY USPS AND HAVE LIVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS SINCE 1984. I HAD THE TAURUS INTO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS FOR SERVICE AND NO ONE MENTIONED THE RECALL. AS I AM RETIRED MILITARY MY VEHICLES ARE ALWAYS KEPT IN TOP CONDITION FOR TRAVEL AT ANYTIME. I WAS REFUSED SERVICE ON THE TAURUS ( TOW DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIP HAD COMPLETED WORK ON THE TAURUS, WITHOUT TAKING CARE OF THE RECALL) THE SERVICE REP STATED THAT THE TIME FOR REPAIR HAD PASSED. NO WONDER FORD MOTOR COMPANY STOCK IS DOWN IN THE TIME PASSED, (I HAVE SERVICE BILLS THAT SHOW THAT TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND I DO HAVE STARTING PROBLEMS WITH THE E85 FUEL. I AM WONDERING IF OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE LACK OF NOTICES FOR RECALL.
