The option to adjust the climate control or change the radios is not available in this vehicle anymore. They are currently stuck on defrost and high heat which makes you almost blind when the sweat runs in your eyes. The radio just plays at an uncomfortable volume level. There have been no warnings has to why this happened. It just happened all at once, with no way to change it. You try being 160 miles from home with a toddler in car midsummer and your heater blowing on hi heat. This has happened to many people all over, theres no new part being manufactured to replace this broken one, and there's no salvage yards that have one for sale because they have all been bought up. and this issue is still arising in other fords that are only a couple years old. Ford needs to have a recall on this!
' MY DRIVER-SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE RETURN SPRING HAS RECENTLY UNSEATED. (DOOR WILL NOT LATCH). VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN LATCH BROKE. ' THIS CONDITION IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN FORD RECALL 15S02. ' FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THE REPAIR SINCE THE BUILD-DATE OF MY CAR WAS 6 MONTHS LATER THAN 15S02 RECALLED VEHICLES. ' MY DATE MAY BE 6 MONTHS LATER THAN THE FORD SPECIFIED END-DATE BUT I HAVE THE IDENTICAL UNSAFE CONDITION (AND VEHICLE MODEL / YEAR) AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. ' TWO QUESTIONS: 1) WHERE DOES FORD GET THESE RECALL DATES? (WHEN OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE CARS BUILT LATER WITH THE SAME ISSUE) 2) HOW CAN I MAKE FORD COVER THIS REPAIR?
THE DRIVER SEAT HEATING ELEMENT IS OVER HEATING CAUSING EXTREME HEAT AND BEGINNING TO BURN THE SEAT.
2011 FORD TAURUS FRONT DRIVER'S HEATED SEAT SUDDENLY WAS SO HOT THAT IT HAD TO BE TURNED OFF TO PREVENT FROM GETTING BURNED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. THE CAR MENTIONED ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND I CONTACTED FORD, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AGO AND FORD DOES NOT CARE. I AM WONDERING IF THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE HEATED SEATS, BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT OR SOMEONE GETS BURNED FROM THE SEAT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MOTOR COMPANY (LOCATED AT W 1680 US-41, MARINETTE, WI 54143, (715) 735-7474) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-16452991. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT OFTEN COMES ON AND OFF. BUT THE FORD PLACE SAID IT'S NO RECALL ON MY CAR. ALSO MY DASH BOARD LIGHT FLICKERS OFF FROM BRIGHT TO DIM WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR STILL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD TAURUS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A KNOCKING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RAY HASKELL FORD (801 KENNEDY MEMORIAL DR, OAKLAND, ME) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WITH NO WARNING. *JS
VEHICLE IN MOTION, TEMPERATURE GAUGE BEGINS RISING RAPIDLY, IN LESS THAN A MINUTE AT TOP OF SCALE....PULLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY, RESTARTED TO MOVE OVER FURTHER.....ALL LIGHTS LIT UP AND STEAM COMING FROM INSIDE ENGINE. WATER PUMP FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND DUMPED COOLANT IN ENGINE WHICH DESTROYED BEARINGS. CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE WITH NO WARNING
I HAVE A 2011 FORD TAURUS SEL THAT HAS LESS THAN 130,000 MILES ON IT THAT HAS EXPERIENCED A TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. IT STARTED WITH A COOLANT LEAK WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. I NOTICED THE SMELL OF COOLANT. AFTER A WEEK OR SO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING SOME NOISES. AT THAT TIME, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE CAME ON AND THE VEHICAL WAS OVERHEATING AND THE OIL LIGHT ALSO CAME ON, KEEPING IN MIND THAT I HAD JUST CHANGED THE OIL. ALSO, WHEN THE OIL WAS CHANGED, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOME OTHER FLUID IN THE OIL (NOW AFTER SEEING ALL THE OTHER ISSUES, REALIZING IT WAS THE COOLANT THAT HAD LEAKED IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE) ALL OF A SUDDEN, I EXPERIENCED TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR SHUT OFF, I LOST POWER STEERING AND THE CAR BEGAN SMOKING VERY HEAVILY. I BELIEVED THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS ISSUE HAS NOT ONLY HAPPENED TO MY CAR BUT ALSO MANY OTHER TAURUS'S AS WELL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS MY CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITH A LOSS OF ALL MANEUVERABILITY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JUNGE FORD NORTH LIBERTY (525 MADISON AVE, NORTH LIBERTY, IA 52317, 319-626-9500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING PUMP AND THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,400. *TT *JS
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE WEEK OF MAY 20, 2018 WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY WENT DEAD. (LOSS OF POWERING STEERING AND BREAKS). I DRIFTED TO A STOP ALONG THE ROADSIDE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF I CHECKED THE BREAKS AND STEERING AND THEN WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS JUNE 3, 2018 WHILE DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. AGAIN THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING, I DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE MY DRIVE. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE ONLY WARNING WAS A SILHOUETTE OF THE CAR ON THE DASHBOARD AS THE ENGINE WENT DEAD.
STARTING MY MORNING COMMUTE MY VEHICLES "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SENSOR/WARNING TRIGGERED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TWICE THEN IT WENT AWAY AND POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. RESEARCHING THIS FURTHER I FOUND THAT MY CAR PRESENTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS/ISSUES AS SAFETY RECALL 15S18 FOR FORD VEHICLES ISSUED IN 2015 AND 2016. WHEN CALLING FORD CUSTOMER CARE THEY STATED MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY COULDN'T BE OF HELP. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND THEY NOTED CODES U3000-49 AND U3000-72 WERE TRIGGERED. THESE CODES ARE SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFIED IN THE SAFETY RECALL AND THE CAR'S STEERING GEAR SHOULD BE REPLACED PER THE RECALL; HOWEVER AGAIN MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL, BUT PRESENTS THE SAME CODES AND SAFETY ISSUES. I WILL TRY CONTACTING FORD AGAIN, BUT IN THE END I WOULD LIKE FORD TO COVER THE FULL REPLACEMENT COST AS INSTRUCTED IN THE SAFETY RECALL, AS THIS IS A DOCUMENTED SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING TO MY FAMILY AND I. ANY HELP FROM YOU WOULD BE APPRECIATED IN THIS MATTER WITH GETTING FORD TO COVER THE FULL REPLACEMENT COST.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WE LOST HEAT AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. WE STOPPED THE CAR TO ENSURE IT WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED AND LET IT COOL OFF. WE WERE CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOME TO BRING THE CAR THERE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SHOWED ME THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE OIL. I ASKED HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? IS THERE ARE CRACK IN THE BLOCK OR THE HEADS? HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS MODEL OF ENGINE HAS WATER PUMP FAILURES THAT LEAK COOLANT INTO THE OIL. BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE THAT THIS CAUSES IT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW MOTOR. I HAVE ASKED THAT THE MECHANIC TAKE PICTURES OF THIS FOR EVIDENCE OF THIS ISSUE WHICH I WILL RECEIVE WHEN THE CAR IS FINISHED.
HEATER IS STUCK ON HIGH HEAT BLOWING OUT THE DEFROST, I'M UNABLE TO USE ANY OF THE CONTROLS ON THE DASH INCLUDING CLIMATE CONTROL, RADIO, THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. IT'S HAZARDOUS FOR FOR ADULTS TO BE IN THIS VEHICLE IN THE SUMMER AND EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS FOR CHILDREN AND INFANTS WITH THE AMOUNT OF HEAT THAT IS POURING OUT OF THE CLIMATE CONTROL DUCTING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,476.
WHILE DRIVING ALL WARNING LIGHTS FLASH,GAUGES GO UP AND DWN AND STOP AND DINGS SOUND. TURNED OFF CAR AND IT WNT RESTART.WNT CRANK AT ALL ONLY SECURITY DINGS AND SECUITY LIGHT FLASHES.TOOK TO SKILLMAN FORD AND THEY DID NOTHING.CAR WAS THERE 3 MNTHS. IT HAS DONE THIS 4 TIMES NOW IN LAST YR. SEEMS TO BE A SECURITY ISSUE.

MY TAURUS JUST DIED ON ME, IT OVERHEATED AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS ONLY A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOME SO I LET THE CAR COOL AS THE MANUAL SAYS TO DO AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN. GOT TO MY HOUSE SHUT IT OFF AND THEN FIND OUT THAT FROM DRIVING THE CAR IT CAUSED THE ANTIFREEZE TO MIX WITH THE OIL AND NOW I HAVE A BAD ENGINE. THIS ALL BECAUSE THEY PUT A WATER PUMP IN AN ENGINE. KNOWING THIS THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL YOU CAN DRIVE THE CAR WHEN IT'S COOLED AND PUT WATER IN IT IF NEEDED. THIS WILL RUIN YOUR ENGINE!
PROPANE SMELL WHILE DRIVING, SLUGGISH ACCELERATION. 'PUKING' FROM THE VENT PORT. CAR HAS HAD THESE ISSUES SINCE ABOUT 57K MILES WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT. THE 'LIFETIME' FLUID INSIDE OF THE PTU HAS TURNED INTO A BLACK SLUDGE AND IS UNABLE TO BE SIPHONED OUT OF THE VEHICLE USING A TRANSFER PUMP. NOTICEABLE WHEN ACCELERATING IF YOU GRADUALLY APPLY THE PEDAL AS OPPOSED TO MASHING IT DOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
I WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR, THE FOB KEY DID NOT UNLOCK MY DOOR. OPENED IT MANUALLY. WHILE INSIDE CAR, ENGINE STARTED BUT NOTHING ELSE WORKED. DASH WAS FLICKERING. CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN 4 WEEKS PRIOR TO OCT 3, 2017. AFTER AN HOUR STANDING OUTSIDE, CAR ALARM WENT OFF SO I KNEW I HAD TO JUMP IN TO TAKE IT TO FORD. SERVICE TOLD ME TOO MANY BAD CODES WERE SHOWING UP SAID IT MIGHT BE CELENOID BUT I HAD A NEW ONE PUT IN THAT I HAD TO PAY OVER 600 FOR B C I WAS 2 WEEKS OUT OF WARRANTEE. BACK IN 2012 I FILED HERE THAT ELECTRICAL WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH NO BRAKES, NO STEERING. CAR SLOWED DOWN ON ITS OWN AND I WAS BY A PATCH OF GRASS ON A MAIN HIGHWAY. THAT DAY I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE MY LIFE. REALLY UPSET WITH THIS, IT'S DANGEROUS AND CAR IS NOT DEPENDABLE. ONLY HAVE 50 TH MILES. TRUNK LEAKED, BACK WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED B C 3RD LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING.
STEERING STIFFENED WHILST DRIVING, BRAKE PEDDLE WAS STIFF ON APPLICATION.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I WAS HEADED SOUTH DOWN A CITY STREET CAME UP TO MY RIGHT TURN ONTO ANOTHER CITY STREET. AFTER I MADE THE TURN WHEN I TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEEL OUT THE RIGHT ONE CUT STRAIGHT TO THE RIGHT I WAS FIGHTING THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IT WOULD NOT LET ME TURN IT. THIS CAUSED MY CAR TO TURN INTO A PARKED CAR THAT WAS ON A PARKING LOT FOR SALE AND IT ENDED UP DAMAGING 3 CARS PLUS MINE TOTAL. I DID NOT RECEIVE A TICKET BECAUSE THE OFFICER STATED THAT IT WAS A MALFUNCTION ON THE CAR'S STEERING. I JUST KNOW THAT SOMETHING CAUSED THE TIRE TO TURN AND I COULD NOT TURN IT BACK. I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE CAUSE IT WAS SCARY SCARY. THANK YOU,
POWER STEERING. WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN WHEN TURNING. SITTING AND DRIVING THERE IS NO POWER STEERING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, TRAVELING UPHILL WHEN MY 2011 TAURUS SHO SPUTTERED AND QUICKLY LOST POWER FOR MORE THAN 5 SEC. WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I AM GLAD THERE WASN'T ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ME BECAUSE I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED ME. ONCE I REGAINED CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND SPUTTERING AS IT WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT UP THE REST OF THE HILL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK. BY THE TIME I MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL THE VEHICLE SEEMED BETTER BUT I KNEW FROM EXPERIENCE IT WAS IN LIMP MODE. I MADE IT HOME SAFELY DRIVING AS CAREFULLY AS I COULD. I DID NOTICE THE CAR SHOOK MUCH MORE WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP FOR STOP-SIGNS, ALMOST LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. I EVEN RAN A COUPLE SIGNS BECAUSE I WANTED TO MAKE IT HOME, SAFELY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP GUS JOHNSON FORD IMMEDIATELY TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I TOOK IT IN, MY SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME DAYS LATER AND SAID HE ADVISED I PUT A WHOLE NEW ENGINE IN MY CAR. CYLINDER #4 MISFIRING, FOUND LEAK THAT IS CAUSING LOW COMPRESSION. HE SAID THEY COULD TEAR APART THE MOTOR AND INSPECT FURTHER BUT DOING A COMPLETE ENGINE ASSEMBLY COULD COST UPWARDS AROUND $10,000. I WAS PARALYZED! I FOUND OTHER STORIES AND COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE MINE WHEN I CAME HERE TO NHTSA. IF FORD WAS, OR STILL IS AWARE OF ANY DEFECTS TO THE ENGINE THROUGH MANUFACTURING OR BAD DESIGN THAT MAY CAUSE LOSS OF POWER, SHAKING, SHUDDERING, SPUTTERING, STALLING, LOSS-OF-POWER DURING ACCELERATION, THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
MY FORD TAURUS HAS AWD. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) IS LEAKING BADLY AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST ESTIMATE IS $1700 INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND CONFIRMED BY OWNER COMMENTS ON THE WEB, THE PTU MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 80000 MILES. IF IT IS NOT REPAIRED THE UNIT WILL FAIL AND THE CAR WILL LOCKUP AND HAVE TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC FOR REPAIR. THE PTU IS ONLY USED ON VEHICLES WITH AWD. MY TAURUS HAS 82500 MILES ON IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS A DEFECT. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT I SHOULD NOT EXPECT A LARGE REPAIR BILL FOR A BROKEN PART AFTER 80K MILES. MAINTENANCE IS ONE THING. A LEAKING POWER TRANSFER CASE IS QUITE ANOTHER. IF THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT, FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR REPAIRS AND TAKE STEPS TO REDESIGN THE PTU SO THAT IT DOESN'T FAIL AFTER 6 YEARS OF USE.
WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VECHILE AIR BAG IN STEERING WHEEL ONLY CAME OUT AIRBAG DID NOT INFLATE AT ALL I WAS HIT HARD ENOUGH THE SEAT BELT BROKE MECHANICAL ACCIDENT HAPPEN WHILE VECHILE WAS IN MOTION TURNING TO GET ON HIGHWAY.

I HAD A INTERNAL WATER PUMP FAILURE FILLING THE ENGINE WITH COOLANT. THIS RESULTED IN A ENGINE HYDRO LOCK CONDITION (LUCKILY I WAS ABLE LIMP A VERY ROUGH RUNNING CAR IN THE EMERGENCY LANE AT 15MPH TO A NEARBY EXIT). HAPPENED FRIDAY EVENING FEB 3RD 2017 ON A COLD 27 DEGREE EVENING. I WAS STRANDED NORTH OF NASHVILLE, TN ON I65. THIS IS A VERY VERY BAD DESIGN FLAW. I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND MOST CARS HAVE EXTERNAL WATER PUMPS -- EXCEPT THIS ONE. NOT JUST THE TAURUS, BUT ALL 3.5 (AND 3.7) MOTORS HAVE A INTERNAL WATER PUMP DESIGN; DRIVEN OFF THE OVERHEAD CAM CHAIN. WHEN IT FAILS, IT FAILS BIG, DUMPING ALL COOLANT (SEVERAL GALLONS) INTO THE CRANKCASE. END RESULT: IS A HIGH POTENTIAL FOR ENGINE FAILURE AS ALL COMPONENTS INCLUDING IN MY CASE THE ECO BOOST TURBOS SUBMERGED IN COOLANT / ANTIFREEZE. LEARNING NOW IT MAY BE $8-9K FOR A NEW MOTOR. BESIDES THIS EXPENSE IS TO KNOW THIS ENGINE WILL HYDRO LOCK WITH ALL THE COOLANT IN IT AND CANNOT BE EASILY DRIVEN TO A SAFE LOCATION SEEMS VERY VERY DANGEROUS TO ME. IF THE EXIT WERE NOT LESS THAN A 1/2 MILE AWAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK. NO ONE WANTS TO BE ON A DARK FREEWAY FOR 1-2 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK ON A COLD FRIDAY NIGHT. ALL IS TAKES IS ONE PERSON FROM BEHIND TO SLIP OFF INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND THEN IT'S ALL OVER.
POWER STEERING FAILURE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, NOW THERE IS NO STEERING AT ALL. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH REGULAR TAURUS SE SEL, BUT THIS IS THE TAURUS SHO. NO RECALL ON THE SHO. FORD BLAMES THIS ON MANY THREE THINGS ELECTRICAL FAILURE, THE REAL CAUSE IS POOR ENGINEERING BY FORD, THIS STEERING RACK WITH ALL ELECTRICAL PARTS, ARE THREE INCHES AWAY FROM TURBOS AND CATALITC CONVERTERS,EXTREME HEAT FROM THESE COMPONETS HAS CAUSED THEM TO FAIL.THE HEAT PRODUCED FROM THESE COMPONETS ARE IN THE 1200 DEGREE RANGE.FORD NEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM THAT'S WHY THEY TRIED TO PUT HEAT SHIELD NEAR THIS COMPONENT. THIS CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. I HAVE OWNED AND STILL HAVE FOUR TAURUS SHO'S 91,92,98,2011. NEVER AGAIN FORD. I THINK THIS CAR SHOULD BE ON RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.

DRIVING FINE AND THE WARNING BELL DINGED WITH NO INFO. BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AS I WAS DRIVING. EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE CAR IS PERFECTLY FINE EXCEPT FOR THE CLICKING WHINING NOISE WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN. THERE IS AMPLE POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE WELL. *TR

CATASTROPHIC WATER PUMP FAILURE LEAKED A LOT OF COOLANT IN OIL - DRIVER WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE MOTOR JUST DIED (STALLED), FORCING THE DRIVER TO HARD STEER TO THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY. THE GAUGE AT THE TIME JUST SUDDENLY JUMPED TO H - IN A SPAN OF FEW SECONDS AND ALL DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. VERY LITTLE STEAM WAS COMING OUT - VERY LITTLE FLUID WAS LEAKING. NOTICED SMELL OF COOLANT RIGHT AWAY. LOOKED/DOUBLE CHECKED UNDER THE CAR - LITTLE LEAK AGAIN. IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT MAYBE WATER PUMP OR AT LEAST RADIATOR HOSE LEAK, CHECKED THE COOLANT - IT WAS EMPTY. HAD IT TOWED TO PAUL MILLER FORD IN LEXINGTON. VERY UNFRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY MENTIONED THAT IT WAS A "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE" - COOLANT HAD MIXED IN WITH THE OIL AND WAS PRETTY MUCH SITTING THERE. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAS NOT CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT AS I EXPLAINED IT WAS REAL DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE CAR AFTER IT STALLED. WE FOLLOWED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - WE ARE VERY ANAL ABOUT THAT. MY HUSBAND HAS A FORD EXPLORER HIMSELF. I AM JUST AT DISBELIEF THAT WE HAD A ENGINE FAILURE AT 108,000 MILES. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS COMMON AMONG THE 3.5L V6 DOHC 24V ENGINE. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD HAD DESIGNED THE WATER PUMP TO BE INTERGRAL PART OF THE ENGINE (PRETTY MUCH INSIDE THE ENGINE NOW BEHIND THE TIMING CHAIN COVER, WHERE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE SEVERAL PARTS TO GET TO IT. MOST PEOPLE KNOW WATER PUMP FAILED BUT TO BE A PART OF INTERNAL ENGINE AND TO HAVE IT POUR COOLANT INTO ENGINE, MIXING UP WITH OIL AND SIT IN THE OIL PAN???? HUH? COSTED US SEVERAL GRAND TO GET THE ENGINE REPLACED.
THE REAR WINDOW SHADE POPS UP AND DOWN WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. ALSO THE BRAKES ROAR WHEN THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED HARD. I'VE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WINDOW SHADE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A BAD OPTION THAT'S PUT ON A FORD.
DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE RETURN SPRING BROKEN AND DOES NOT RETURN TO CLOSED POSITION. OTHER VEHICLES ARE RECALLED, WHY NOT THIS ONE? DOOR CLOSES AND OPENS BUT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE.

HAD THROTTLE RELATED ISSUES THAT WERE SUPPOSEDLY "REPAIRED" AT THE DEALER WHICH ARE STILL PRESENT. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES BY ITSELF AND SHOWS A WRENCH ICON ON THE DASHBOARD WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. IF THE VEHICLE IS PUT ON DRIVE IT MOVES BY ITSELF AS IF ONE WERE PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD POSSIBLE KILL SOMEONE OR EVEN GET ME KILLED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (WHICH I DON'T). RIGHT NOW IT'S AT THE DEALER AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY SINCE THE VEHICLE COULDN'T BE MOVED.

OUR CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 4/29/2011 FROM SHEEHY FORD IN ASHLAND VIRGINIA. WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF OWNERSHIP WE EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY JUST LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND CUT OFF. WE CONTACTED SHEEHY FORD AND THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO SHEEHY, THEY ATTACHED A DEVICE TO CAPTURE THE PROBLEM WHEN IT HAPPENED. WE HAD THE DEVICE IN THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND IT OCCURRED ONLY ONE TIME. THE DEVICE PROVIDED NO HELP IN IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM. THEY REMOVED THE DEVICE AND SAID THAT IT APPEARED THE PROBLEM HAD RESOLVED ITSELF. WE DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER OF 2015. THE ODOMETER WAS NEAR 25,000 MILES. WE WERE TRAVELING ON A VERY CURVY 55 MPH ROAD WITH NO SHOULDERS WHEN WE LOST POWER AND IT CUT OFF. IT WAS THEN WHEN WE REALIZED HOW SERIOUS A SAFETY ISSUE THIS WAS AS A CAR ROUNDING THE CURVE BEHIND US COULD HAVE REAR-ENDED US AS WE HAD NO BREAK LIGHTS TO WARN THEM. AS A RESULT MY WIFE REFUSES TO EVEN RIDE IN THE CAR. ONCE AGAIN WE TOOK THE CAR TO SHEEHY FORD AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY CONTACTED THE REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER FOR SHEEHY FORD AND HE OPENED CASE CAS-7525445. HE MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH SHEEHY FORD TO ENGAGE 'FORD ENGINEERING' TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AS IT TURNED OUT SHEEHY FORD HAD OUR CAR FOR NEARLY 2 WEEKS BUT MERELY DROVE IT TO ATTEMPT TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM. THE CAR DID NOT CUT-OFF DURING THEIR NEARLY 900 MILES OF DRIVING IT. IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 WE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRODUCT CLAIMS DEPARTMENT AND THEY REFUSED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN ON JUNE 16, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 29,500 MILES WILE DRIVING ON I-295 AT 70 MILES PER HOUR.

I DRIVE A 2011 FORD TAURUS LIMITED THE KEYPAD CODE NEVER WORKED FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE THE FACTORY CODE FOR THE DOOR BUT I AM PUT IT IN ALL THE TIME AND IT NEVER WORKS. WHILE REPLACING WHAT APPEARED TO BE A BURNED OUT BRAKE LIGHT ON THE RIGHT REAR, FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THE PROBLEM WAS A BURNED SOCKET AND MELTED PLASTIC BULB BASE. THE BULB WAS DESTROYED DURING ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE IT AND THE PLASTIC BASE HAD TO BE FORCIBLY REMOVED WITH PLIERS. IT IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME IF A NEW BULB WILL EVEN WORK.
TAURUS HAS 15,000 MILES AND HAS STARTED TO SURGE FORWARD AT VERY SLOW SPEED AND WITH BRAKE ON. IT HAS DONE IT 4 TIMES NOW, ONE WAS WHEN I WAS TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY FOOT ON BRAKE IT SURGED .
