CONSUMER WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE AND HEARD A LOUD CRASH SOUND. CONUSMER WAS UNAWARE THAT IT WAS THE VEHICLE. FRONT END WAS MOUNTED ON WHEELS. DEALER STATED SPRINGS WERE CORRODED. CONSUMER HIRED A INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT VEHICLE FURTHER. SPRINGS COLLAPSED BECAUSE COATING FOR CORROSION PREMATURELY WORE OFF. COST TO REPAIR WAS $952. *AK A SUSPENSION SPRING FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE FRONT TIRE, BOTH SPRINGS WERE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE TIRES, THE POOR ADHESION OF THE BLACK COATING MATERIAL IS APPARENTLY A DESIGN PROBLEM IN THE SPRING, IT IS POSSIBLE THE STRESSES AND BENDING MOMENTS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SPRING ARE GREATER AND THEREFORE CAUSED THE BOND BETWEEN THE COATING AND THE SPRING TO SLOWLY DETERIORATE, THROUGH THE CONTINUOUS LOADING OF THE SPRING AND SLOW DETERIORATION OF THE BOND OF THE COATING, THE COATING STARTED TO FLAKE OFF EXPOSING THE BARE STEEL. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING WHITE SMOKE CAME FROM TAIL PIPE. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED OF A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLOWN. *AK
MY MINIVAN WAS REAR-ENDED BY A SPEEDING FORD F350 AT A STOP LIGHT. FORTUNATELY I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE. MY SEAT BELT FAILED, IMPALING ME ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED, SPRAYING GLASS CUBES AND SHARDS ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE SHARDS PRIMARILY STUCK INTO THE BACK OF THE REAR SEAT MAKING IT LOOK LIKE A CACTUS. THERE ARE FINE PIECES EMBEDDED INTO THE CARPET AND UPHOLSTERY. I THOUGHT THAT "SAFETY" GLASS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO DO THIS. AS FOR THE SEATBELT, I AM STILL BEING TREATED FOR THE INJURIES. *AK
PREMATURE HEAD GASKET FAILURE RESULTED IN A DESTROYED ENGINE.*AK
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH ON A CITY STREET COVERED WITH ABOUT ONE [1] INCH OF WET SNOW. THE STREET CURVED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT, I STARTED TO MAKE THE TURN BUT THE VAN BEGAN TO SLIDE STRAIGHT AHEAD. I SLID FOR ABOUT 20 FEET BEFORE BUMPING THE CURB ON MY RIGHT SIDE. THE VAN THEN WENT OVER THE CURB , WENT ABOUT ANOTHER 10 FEET AND STRUCK A NARROW [6-INCH] UTILITY POLE HEAD ON.I WAS HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL WITH BOTH HANDS PREPARING FOR THE SLIGHT IMPACT.I WAS QUITE SHOCKED WHEN BOTH AIR BAGS EXPLODED. MY HANDS WERE BRUISED SLIGHTLY BUT NOTHING SERIOUS. THE VAN WAS NOT DAMAGED EXCEPT FOR A SMALL[2-INCH] SPLIT IN THE TOP, NOT FRONT OF THE PLASTIC BUMPER. I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, MULLINAX FORD, IMMEDIATELY. THEY LOOKED AT THE VAN AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS A COLLISION THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THEY CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. AT MY REQUEST TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPLACE THE AIR BAGS FOR ME AT NO COST. FORD RESPONDED BY STATING THAT AS LONG AS THERE WAS A COLLISION THEY NOT REPLACE THEM AT NO COST. I LATER MADE A CALL TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RECIEVED THE SAME RESULTS. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED, AND FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE BORN THE EXPENSE [$1500.] OF REPLACING THE AIR BAGS.I DON'T KNOW ALL OF THE FACTS CONCERNING AIR BAGS BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THEY SHOULD DEPLOYED AT THAT SPEED.PLEASE INFORM ME OF ANY RECOURSE THAT I MAY HAVE. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A PROBLEM DOWN SHIFTING AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AND IS WARMED UP FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED VIA CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER. *AK
WHEN TRAVELING TRANSMISSION OPERATED ERRATICALLY/ JUMPS OUT OF GEAR, AND ENGINE RACES. *AK
AFTER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED THEY POPPED OUT AND CHEMICALS BURNED CONSUMER. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
VEHICLE HAS STALLED 15-20 TIMES IN LAST 4 MONTHS, MOSTLY WHEN INCREASING SPEED. TAKEN TO DEALER 8 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS THE ABS SYSTEM HAS FAILED. IN ALL THREE INSTANCES THE ABS ACTIVATED DURING NORMAL BRAKING ON DRY SURFACES, USUALLY AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE COMING TO A STOP. IT TOOK EXTRA DISTANCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND WAS QUITE DISRUPTIVE AND DISCONCERTING TO THE DRIVER. IF A VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN FRONT OF US, I AM SURE IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION. ALSO, THE ABS FAILURE WAS ERRATIC, THAT IS, IT DID NOT DUPLICATE EVERY TIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FIRST TWO TIMES, SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND ADJUSTED. THE MOST RECENT TIME THE ABS CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT PART #F58Z-2C219-AA INTEGRATED COIL (DEALER SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE ABS SYSTEM) HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER BEING REPAIRED THE DEALER THEN DISCOVERED AN ADDITIONAL FAILURE CODE INDICATING THAT A SENSOR HAD ALSO FAILED.*AK
FORD REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ON MY WINDSTAR JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP. HERE IT IS ABOUT THE SAME # OF MILES OUT AND THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO GRAHM FORD. I SEE A $2000 DEBT IN MY FUTURE THAT I BELIEVE SHOULD BE FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY. I'M HAPPY THE CHILDREN WEREN'T IN THE CAR WHEN IT BUCKED AND LOCKED UP. I'M EVEN HAPPIER IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN WE WERE ON THE ROAD OR OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I BELIEVE THEY MADE A FAULTY PART AND SHOULD OWN UP TO IT. KATHY GUDEL.*AK
SECOND FAILURE OF HEAD GASKET. FIRST FAILURE AT 60K. FORD REFUSES TO WARRANT WORK SECOND TIME. APPARANTLY THIS 3.8L ENGINE REQUIRES EXPENSIVE HEAD GASKET REPAIRS EVERY 50-60K MILES.
VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER CASE OF EARLY TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. DANGER AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS THAT FROM A STOP I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE ENGINE JUST RACED. HAD I ANTICIPATED ACCELERATING TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN TROUBLE.*AK
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED, THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIPER MOTOR, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED.*JB

TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AROUND 80,000 MILES. 2ND GEAR AND REVERSE GEAR FAULT. PROBLEM DUE TO FORWARD CUSHION PLATE (A $6.87 PART!!!) COST OF TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL $1637.77...*AK
CONSUMER NEVER HAD A WARNING OF A PROBLEM UNTIL SHE HAD 100 THOUSAND MILE CHECK UP. THEN, HEARD A NOISE. TOOK AUTOMOBILE BACK TO DEALER, AND WHEN MECHANIC TOOK IT BACK TO BAY AREA HEAD GASKETS BLEW UP.*AK
MY 1995 FORD WINDSTAR HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN SEPT OF 1994. THE FIRST MAJOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WENT AT 6,500 MILES AND WAS FIXED BY WARRANTY. THE HEAD GASKET BLEW AT 54,000 MILES AND 39 MONTHS OF USE. FORD INITIALLY SAID TOUGH LUCK BUT THEN THE SECRET WARRANTIES BECAME KNOWN AND THEY REIMBURSED ME FOR THAT REPAIR. AT LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON THE CHASSIS THE COOLANT LEVEL STARTED SHOWING LOW AGAIN BUT THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE DIDN'T BECOME HIGHLY NOTICEABLE UNTIL 103,000 MILES. FORD REFUSED TO REPAIR THIS TIME AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOW OVER 100,000 MILES ALTHOUGH THIS "NEW" FORD HEAD GASKET HAD LESS THAN 50,000 MILE ON IT. SO, I AM PREPARING TO SUE FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALER ON THAT REPAIR. FINALLY, THE TRANSMISSION TOTALLY FAILED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I HAD A "NEW" TRANSMISSION PUT IN. IT LASTED 1 WEEK AND THE FORD WINDSTAR IS NOW GETTING ANOTHER TRANSMISSION (COVERED UNDER THE 2 YEAR OR 24,000 MILE WARRANTY OF THE REPLACED TRANSMISSION). AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE FORD ?!@#$% REGARDING THE 1995 FORD WINDSTAR PROBLEMS, WHY IS THAT YOUR AGENCY HAS DONE SO LITTLE IN FORCING A RECALL? FORD OUGHT TO BE RECALLING THOSE VEHICLES OR OFFERING THE OWNERS MONEY TO BUY THEM BACK.*AK
VEHICLE WAS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE. DEALER FOUND TIMECASE COVER GASKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I HAVE HAD TWO HEAD GASKET PLACE ON MY VAN WITHIN ABOUT 18 MONTHS FROM EACH OTHER. BUT THIS TIME I TOOK MY VAN IN TO HAVE THE HEAD GASKET REPAIR AND WAS CHARGES 150 % MORE THAN THE OTHER REPAIR. I TOOK IT IN AND TOLD THEM THAT WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE HEAD GASKET . THEY SUPOSELY FIXED IT FOR $2,479.00 THEN TWO DAY LATER I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN BECAUSE OF THE OIL PRESSURE. THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED ANOTHER ENGINE WHICH WOULD COST ME ANOTHER $1,000.00. MY QUESTION IS THAT THEY DID NOT DO A DIAGONOTIC CHECK, JUST PLACED PARTS ON MY VAN WITHOUT APPROVAL , CHARGED ME FOR IT. NOW I HAVE TO PAY A TOTAL OF $3,479.00. THE FRIGHTEN PART IS THAT WITH THE HEAD GASKET GOING OUT TWICE, I AM AFRAID THE IT MIGHT GO OUT AGAIN. THE OTHER THING IS THAT FORD NEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE EVALUATED THE PROBLEM JUST LIKE THEY SAID WITH THE RECALL, PLACE THE CORRECT GASKET (WHICH THEY DID NOT) AND FIX THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF COSTING ME ANOTHER $1,000.00 FOR AN ENGINE. I NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE.
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE THEY TOOK A LONG TIME TO FIX MY CAR AND NOW IT IS OVERHEATING, AND IT WASN'T OVERHEATING BEFORE THEY TRIED TO FIX MY HEADGASKET.*AK
#1 ANIT-LOCK BRAKES WOULD ACTIVATE EVERY TIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. #2 THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP VERY BAD THAN ENGAGE VIOLENTLY FROM A STAND STILL , OR THE TRANSMISSION WOULD START OFF IN SECOND GEAR. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIPP AND ENGAGE VIOLENTLY FORM A STAND STILL IN REVERSE. (SIDE NOTE MY NIEGHBOR HAS A 1996 FORD WINDSTAR, HE ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM TWICE. FIRST AT 30000 MILES, AND MOST RECENTLY AT 100000 MILES)

INTERMITTENT BRAKING PROBLEMS. AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WITHOUT WARNING, ABS WOULD KICK IN AND THE BRAKE BECOMES HARD AND HARSH. AND THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM MAKES A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. I DO BELIEVE THERE IS A BRAKE DESIGN PROBLEM HERE BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN OTHER CARS.
SIDE VENT WINDOW IS COMING OUT AND NONE OF DIFFERENT MECHANICS WILL TOUCH IT. SEALER WAS TAKING OFF SOME OF THE PAINT ON VEHICLE. MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT CONSUMER CONTACT A FORD DEALER , WHO WOULD KNOW MORE ABOUT IT. DIFFERENT MECHANICS DIDN'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF SEALER WAS USED. THEY DIDN'T WANT TO BREAK WINDOW. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY ENGAGE WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE AND DOES NOT USUALLY ENGAGE WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE.
WE PURCHASED OUR FORD WINDSTAR NEW IN 7/94 (IT WAS ANEARLY 1995 RELEASE). PROBLEMS BEGAN IMMEDIATELY WITH THE ENGINE CONTROL, DOOR CLOSURE SENSOR, ETC. THERE WERE ALSO OTHER NUISANCES SUCH AS THE SUSPENSION THAT HAD A BANGING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER ANY BUMP. THE DOOR SENSORS AND ENGINE COMPUTER WERE REPLACED. THE SUSPENSION PROBLEM WAS NEVER RESOLVED. THEN BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED (36,000 MILES) THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON (WHICH IT IS STILL ON 5 YEARS LATER). AFTER TRIPS TO THE DEALER AND A $500.00 TUNE-UP THE ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED-- WHICH IT NEVER WAS. AT THAT TIME YEARS AGO I TOLD THEM THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SEEM TO SHIFT PROPERLY ESPECIALLY WHEN WE WENT ON VACATION THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. THEIR ANSWER WHIULE IT WAS "UNDER WARRANTY" WAS THAT THE ENGINE WAS ELECTRONIC AND THAT IF A SENSOR WAS BAD OR THE FUEL MIXTURE WAS NOT PROPER IT WOULD CAUSE THAT TO HAPPEN. THEY SAID THAT THE SENSORS DID NOT INDICATE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WE, HOWEVER, KNEW THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE CAR PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE , BUT AGAIN THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND IS THAT THE ENGINE INDICATED THAT IT WAS RUNNING "TOO LEAN". THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND EVENTUALLY WOULD GO OFF, BUT THIS HAPPENED MORE FREQUENTLY. FINALLY, THE CAR BECAME UNRELIABLE, AND WE AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET. SURE ENOUGH IT WAS GOING BAD! THEY ESTIMATED TO FIX IT WOULD COST $2000+ I SAID THAT MY CONCERN WAS ALSO THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS PERHAPS IN FAILURE ALSO. THEY SAID THAT AGAIN THEY DIDN'T THINK SO. WITH ALL OF THE PROBLEMS, I WAS HESITANT TO PAY THAT MUCH TOO FIX THE HEAD GASKET. I THEN ASKED IF FORD WARRANTY WOULD PICK UP ANY OF THE COST. AFTER TALKING TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE THE ANSWER WAS, NO! SHORTLY, THEREAFTER, THE ENGINE FAILED AND I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDANT MECHANIC WHO AGREED TO FIX IT FOR $800-900. SINCE THAT TIME THE ENGINE HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAM
RECALL FOR HEAD GASKET WAS PERFORMED, BUT NOW ENGINE IS LEAKING ALL WATER OUT OF IT .*AK CONSUMER STATES HEATER CORE ROTTED OUT, CRANK CASE OIL KEEPS TURNING BLACK, OIL FILTER KEEPS PLUGGING UP OIL, OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR FULL STOP OR JUST SLOWING DOWN, CONSUMER HAS BEEN CHARGED FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. *SLC
MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AND SENT SMOKE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. IT PREVIOUSLY FAILED IN 1997 AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS WILL NOW BE THE 3RD TRANSMISSION IN 78,000 MILES. IN SEP. 1999, MY HEAD GASKET FAILED, AND I BOUGHT A $495 SERVICE WARRANTY FROM FORD, SINCE FORD HAD NOT YET ISSUED PROGRAM M09 TO REPAIR HEAD GASKETS. I TOOK THE CAR TO WINNER FORD FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN JUNE 2000 WHILE STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT "NO PROBLEM FOUND" SO NO REPAIR MADE. FORD AND DEALER NOW OFFERING NO ASSISTANCE, EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. FORD SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THIS CHRONIC MECHANICAL FAILURE SIMILAR TO THE HEAD GASKET PROBLEM AND ISSUE EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR TRANSMISSION ON THESE CARS AND TAURUSES. THE INTERNET COMPLAINT FORUMS ARE FULL OF STORIES ON PREMATURE TRANSMISSION FAILURES ON WINDSTARS AND TAURUSES. I ALSO AM HAVING TO RENT A CAR, AND SHOULD BE PAID FOR THAT COST AS WELL.
IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD HAS AN UNUSUALLY HIGH NUMBER OF GASKET FAILURES, AND THAT THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON THE HEAD GASKET. HOWEVER - THE FRONT COVER GASKET FAILURES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL REPAIR. I AM INTERESTED IN INFORMATION ON THE NUMBER OF FRONT COVER GASKET FAILURES IN THE EARLY WINDSTAR MODELS, AND WHETHER OR NOT THIS ISSUE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. THANK YOU.
LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING ,SHREADING THE TIRE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED RIGHT TIRE, CAUSING FRONT END TO FALL DOWN. ALSO, RIGHT COIL SPRING CRACKED. *AK
TRIED TO START VEHICLE AND FAILED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS VEHICLE STARTED. THEN, THICK WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF REAR OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER, AND NOTIFIED CONSUMER THAT HEAD GASKET BLEWOUT. *AK
I HAD BOUGHT MY VAN IN MAY OF 2000. IT HAD 70,274 MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR $1250.00 THINKING I WAS PROTECTING MY INVESTMENT. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, I WAS TOLD BY THE WARRANTY COMPANY THAT BECAUSE THE FLUID LEVELS (OIL AND TRANSMISSION) WERE LOW AND THAT THE OIL HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED SINCE I PURCHASED IT ( THEY SURMISED THIS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD TO INDICATE THAT THE OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED) AND THAT THE OIL FILTER HAD ALSO NOT BEEN CHANGED, IT THEREFORE WAS DRIVER NEGLIGENCE (WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A LUBRICATION PART THAT NEEDED REPAIRING IN THE TRANSMISSION) AND AS A RESULT, THE WARRANTY COMPANY ABSOLVED ITSELF OF HAVING TO PAY THE $1957.04 THAT I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. THE SHOP WHO FIXED MY VEHICLE (AS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP "SUB-LETTED" THE JOB OUT TO THEM) TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I THAT THE FLUID LEVELS WERE FINE! I, NOT BEING MECHANICALLY INCLINED, AM NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM WE HAD WITH OUR VAN'S TRANSMISSION IS RELATED TO THE "ALUMINUM FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON" THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF SINCE 1994 (SEE FORD'S TSB #94247 11/1994) OR NOT, BUT WE WOULD LIKE OUR COMPLAINT REGISTERED. HEAD GASKETS WERE REPAIRED FOR FREE. THEY WOULDN'T REPAIR LEAKING TIMING CHAIN GASKET UNDER THE HEAD GASKET WARRANTY THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THAT AT THE SAME TIME. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING GEAR COVER LEAKING & LOSSING COOLANT
WHEN SPRING BROKE THE L/F ALMOST NEW TIRE WAS PUNCTURED AND RUINED. *AK
DOOR SENSOR LEAVES INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS ON AND THE ASSOCIATED RELAY IS HOT TO THE TOUCH. POWER WINDOW MOTOR INOPERATIVE, WAS WORKING INTERMITTENLY UP TO TODAY. IGNITION SWITCH WILL ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED WHEN IT SHOULDN'T.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH ALL DOORS ARE SHUT COMPLETELY. FORD DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
RADIATOR FLUID WAS BUBBLING OVER, COMING OUT TAILPIPE AND SMOKING. HEAD GASKETS BLEW OUT, AND ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DAMAGE. FORD RELEASED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR HEAD GASKETS. THERE WERE NO PRIOR PROBLEM WHEN LETTER WAS RECEIVED. VEHICLE WAS TO BE ONLY BROUGHT IN WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED. ALSO, LETTER WAS BASED ON MILEAGE WHICH VEHICLE HAD EXCEEDED AT THE TIME OF PROBLEM. FORD WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING DEALING WITH LETTER. ROUNDED OFF IT WILL BE NEAR $4000 DAMAGE, TO BE REPAIRED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING FRONT END MADE NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO SERVICE STATION AND SPRING COIL WAS BROKEN. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN AUG. 2000, REPLACED AT MY COST,THEN HEAD GASKET BLEW, FORD RECALL/PROGRAM FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, IMMEDIATELY AFTR MAIN BEARING SHOT. FORD SAYS IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. *AK
FUEL TANK HAD A 3 QUARTER INCH CRACK ON TOP OF IT, ABOVE SUPPORT STRAP. LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED TANK AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK
TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. *AK VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING WHILE IN MOTION, CONSUMER STATES IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP, MECHANIC CHECKED VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE HEAD GASKETS. *SLC
THE FRONT SHOCKS BROKE CAUSING NOISE TO BE EMMITTED FROM THE WHEEL WELL. NLM
TRANSMISSION AND HEAD GASKET SFAILED AT 48000 BOTH REPLACED. ENGINE FAILURE AT 50,000 NOW WAITING 8 WEEKS FOR REPLACEMENT ENGINE.
