WE HAVE REPLACED ENGINE TWICE AND TRANSMISSION X 3 NOW NEEDS ANOTHER ENGINE AND WE'VE SPENT OVER $10,000.00
HAVE HAD BRAKES REDONE 6 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS-CONSTANTLY RETURNS TO SQUEALING. ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS?*AK
CONSUMER STATES DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO DO RECALL ON TWO OCCASIONS ON THE HEAD GASKET, AND NOW THE HEAD GASKET IS GIVING PROBLEM, THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX IT,DUE TO IT BEING OUT OF RECALL WARRANTY. NLM SCC
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HIT THE DEER. DRIVER'S SIDE/PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, THERE IS A CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, AND THE BACK REAR WINDOWS ARE BROKEN. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP, AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULDN'T HAVE DEPLOYED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, THE MIRROR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FELL OFF. ON 6/8/98, THE MIRROR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FELL OFF WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE MIRRORS ARE BEING REPLACED BY DEALER AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *AK
ENGINE. A PISTON HAS CRACKED AND THE CLUTCH HAS BURNED OUT.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN THE FREEWAY AND APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER A CEMENT MEDIAN AND CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. *AK
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (97V18000). TOOK TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS. EACH SAID NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPAIR HOOD. CALLED MANUFACTURER FOR PARTS. WAS TOLD WILL CALL OWNER WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. *AK
WHILE COMING DOWN MOUNTAIN, HAD APPLIED BRAKES, VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING. ON FLAT SURFACE, NOTHING HAPPENS. BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS & VEHICLE TEST DRIVEN ON FLAT NOT MOUNTAIN. NOTHING FOUND. RECALL ON HOOD & DEALER NOT REPAIRING DUE TO NO PARTS.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP AND FAIL TO ENGAGE. VEHICLE WOULD EITHER SURGE OR FAIL TO GO. EVENTUALLY REVERSE GEAR INOPERABLE.
TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWNSHIFT ERRATICALLY , WHEN DECELERATING THEN ACCELERATING AGAIN TRANSMISSION WOULD JUST REV UP, AND STEADILY LOSE SPEED.THEN ALL AT ONCE IT WOULD JUMP FOWARD LIKE A RACE CAR LEAVING STARTING LINE. *AK
FRONT DISC BRAKES KEEP GOING TO THE FLOOR. DEALER CONTACTED, AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. BLACK DUST APPEARS ON THE BRAKES. *AK
I'D LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED; THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.
FALSE DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS FROM A MINOR COLLISION, ALSO VIOLENT DEPLOYMENT RESULTED IN INJURIES (BURNS ARMS, HAND AND CHEST).
BLOWN HEAD GASKET.
HEAD GASKET FAILED. ALSO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON.

VEHICLE IS LOCKED. WHILE SITTING AND TOUCHING THE DOOR HANDLE THE DOOR WILL OPEN, WHILE MOVING IT WILL OPEN EVEN WHEN LOCKED. TURNING CORNERS, SAME THING OCCURS. RIGHT FRONT DOOR. DEALER CONTACTED AND STATED THAT IT WAS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW.*AK
TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT WAS DRAGGING. DEALER CONTACTED AND STATED THERE WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM. REPAIR WORK DONE BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD BOLT FORWARD WHEN FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKES. IT WOULD ALSO ROLL BACKWARD (NO DRIFT) WHEN ON A HILL.
LEFT TIE ROD END FAILED, CAUSIGNVEHICLE TO TOE ON WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING LOT.

AT35,000 MILES, FIRST TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. AT 38,000 MILES I HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE . FORD SAID I HAD A MAIN BEARING KNOCK . THEY TOOK ENGINE APART AND SAID " RODS MARKED 1-6, BUT NOT IN ORDER?TOP OF ROD AT WRIST PINS ARE BLUE( HOT OVERHEAT CONDITION). HEAD GASKETS SHOW SIGNS, RUSTY AT BLOCK &HEAD AREAS. MAIN BRGS SCORED THUR BEDS & #5 IN COPPER BED. MAINBOLT BLACK SMELLS LIKE BURNED OIL.. NOW AT 56,200 FORD SAYS I NEED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION THE ONE REPLACED IS BAD NOW!!! ONE THING TO ADD I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 2,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEARLER HAD TOLD ME IT WAS AN "UNWIND" NO PROBLEMS WITH , SOMEONE DID'NT QUALIFY FOR THE CREDIT SO THEY HAD THEM RETURN IT. THEY CAN'T SELL IT AS NEW ANYMORE!!!!!! 56,200 MILES 3TRANSMISSIONS & 2 ENGINES!!!!!!! WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT HOW THE ENGINE WAS TOTALLY DEFECTIVE , I BASICALLY GOT THE RUN AROUND. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH RING AND PINION GEAR BROKE, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
TRANSMISSION WAS NOT DOWNSHIFTING COMPLETELY WHEN VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THEN WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED, IT WOULD SUDDENLY SHIFT INTO GEAR, LURCHING FORWARD. THIS HAD HIGH POTENTIAL FOR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY IF THE DRIVER ACCELERATED TOO QUICKLY.
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITHIN 53000 MILESS. CONSUMER HAD TO RELACE TRANSMISSION TWICE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WE HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE. THE FIRST TIME AT 72,000 MILES AND THEN AGAIN AT 94,000 MILES. THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, TIE RODS, REAR WHELL CYLINDERS, FRONT DRIVE AXLE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPLACED. THE PADS 4 TIMES AND THE ROTORS TWICE, GROUND DOWN IN BETWEEN. NOW THE HEAD GASKET HAS BLOWN AND POSSIBLE CAUSED ENOUGH DAMAGE TO WARRANT REPLACING THE WHOLE ENGINE.
ONE OF THE LUGS:NUTS:BOLTS BROKE OFF. MANUALLY REMOVED FOUR LUGS:NUTS:BOLTS FROM THE OTHERS. NOTICED THESE LUGS:NUTS:BOLTS WERE NOT FIRM.
HEAD GASKETS BLEW OUT DUE TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT.
APPARENTLY THERE ARE A LARGE PRECENTAGE OF HEAD GASKET FAILURES ON FORD 3.8L ENGINES. 2 BELIEVE FORD SHOULD WARRANTY THIS PROBLEM BEYOND THE NORMAL WARRANTY PERIOD. IF NOT, I WOULD TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT.
TRANSMISSION FAILED.
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER COMPLAINING ABOUT AN ODOR COMING FROM THE HEATER, AND THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH. DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. LESS THEN TWO DAYS AFTERWARDS, THE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. TRANSMISSION JUMPS FROM NEUTRAL INTO GEAR AND JERKS FORWARD. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE SPLIT FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON.
TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH PISTON FAILED DUE TO POOR DESIGN.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS CAUSING LOSS OF ACCELERATION. REPAIR SHOP REPORTED FAULTY COMPONENT IN TRANSMISSION FORWARD PISTON.
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BY THE DEALERSHIP AROUND THE SECOND WEEK OF MAY, 1998. TRANSMISSION HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED, OWNER IS LOOKING FOR ADMISSION OF THE PROBLEM BY FORD AND REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS. *AK *ML
