BRAKE PROBLEMS; WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES ON REGULAR ROAD CONDITIONS THERE WAS A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE. THIS WAS DUE TO THE RUSTING OF ROTORS. THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WAS REPLACED ON 1/12/98 WITH 45,000 MILES. *AK
TRANSMISSION WENT AT 70K NO HELP FROM FORD. HEAD GASKET LEAKING 120K NO ASSISTANCE OR HELP FROM FORD. WINDOW MOTOR DO NOT WORK NO HELP FROM FORD. STEERING PROBLEMS NO ONE CAN FIND A PROBLEM, BUT I KEEP REPLACING TIRE PREMATURLY. I PAID FOR THE TRAMSMISSION $1500. NOW THE VAN IS IN THE SHOP AT SAM GALLOWAY FORD FOR A HEAD GASKET. THE ONLY REASON I HAD IT TOWED INTO SAM GALLOWAY IS BECAUSE THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE HEAD GASKET AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT . COVERED BY THE RECALL. THEY CALLED AFTER LOOKING AT IT AND SAID $1700 TO REPAIR THE GASKET AND OTHERS PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE LEAKING HEAD GASKET. RECALL STATES 60K 0R DEC 31 2000 WICH EVER COMES FIRST. IF THEY ARE PUTTING FAULTY PRODUCTS IN THEIR VEHICLES THEY ARE CAUSEING SAFETY CONCERNS AND THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. *AK

FAULTY ENGINE GASKET CAUSED VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT.
WHILE DRIVING BRAKES FADED, EXCESSIVE FORCE NEEDED TO STOP, CAUSED INJURY TO HUSBAND'S RIGHT KNEE.
SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BECAUSE OF THE INCORRECT SPEED INDICATIONS. PROBLEM EXISTS AGAIN. DEALER SAYS THE DEFECT IS NO LONGER WARRANTED. *ML
I HAVE THE ENGINE REPAIRTED / REPLACED 3 GOING ON MY 4TH TIME. MY WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT AND IT HAS NOT COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I HAVE TRIED TO TRADE IT IN BUT DEALERS ALL KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AND DON'T WANT TO GIVE ME ANYTHING FOR IT. BECAUSE OF THAT I AM WAY UPSIDEDOWN ON WHAT I COULD GET FOR IT. THE PROBLEM IS NOW STARTING TO SHOW SIGNS THAT IT IS COMING BACK AGAIN. HELP. I HEARD THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT GOING ON SOMEWHERE CAN SOMEONE PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE PEOPLE THAT IS DOING THE SUTIE ?? I HAVE BEEN ROUND AND ROUND WITH THE DEALER AND FORD AND TO DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN REFUNED A DIME. AND NOW JUST THIS WEEK I GET A ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE FUEL TANK. I'M AM NOW OUT +23,000 FOR A CAR THAT I KNOW IS GOING TO GO OUT COMPLETELY.

WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT ON MARCH 5TH. THE PROBLEMS RETURNED, AND THE CONSUMER VEHICLE ISN'T WORKING RIGHDEALER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED CONTINUED ENGINE FAILURES RELATED TO HEAD GASKET FAILURE (RECALL NOTICE SENT AFTER REPAIRS), HOWEVER FAILURE DAMAGED ENTIRE ENGINE, DENIED SERVICE DUE TO MILEAGE.
AS A RESULT OF THE GRINDING OF A BEARING A PORTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN WAS SHAVED OFF
I UNDERSTAND (THROUGH THE INTERNET) THAT FORD IS HAVING MANY PROBLEMS WITH ITS TRANSMISSIONS. MAINLY THE WINDSTAR, TAURUS, SABLE, AND CONTINENTAL WITH THE 3.8L ENGINE. MY TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED IN 1997 AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE COMPENSATED FOR IT!
WHEN DOWNSHIFTING VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP, THE GEAR WOULD JUMP FROM 1ST GEAR TO NEUTRAL. TOOK TO TRANSMISSION SHOP & MECHANIC SAID THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING OUT INSTEAD OF LUBRICATING GEARS. *AK
FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKETS IN THE 1995 WINDSTAR, BUT IS UNWILLING TO ASSIST UNLESS MILEAGE IS UNDER 60000. MY VAN WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST PRESSURE AND WOULD NOT DRIVE ABOVE 40 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. PLEASE HELP. *AK

INITIALLY, THE PROBLEM WAS A LOSS OF COOLANT AND AN INABILITY OF THE HEATER TO PRODUCE HOT AIR. AFTER A TRIP TO THE DEALER, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TIMING COVER, WATER PUMP AND HEAD GASKETS HAD LEAKED, AND REPLACING THE GASKETS WOULD CURE THE PROBLEM. WITHIN 500 MILES, OUT OF STATE, THE ENGINE KNOCKED HORRIBLY, THEN STALLED. WE HAD THE VAN TOWED TO MOCK FORD IN GRANT'S PASS, OREGON. AFTER AN ENGINE TEARDOWN, WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT A ROD BEARING HAD SPUN, SEIZING THE ENGINE. FORD IN OREGON WOULDN'T HELP US, FORD IN CALIFORNIA WOULDN'T TALK TO FORD IN OREGON AND HENRY CURTIS WOULDN'T HELP US. SUBSEQUENTLY, FORD HAS HAD A RECALL ON THE HEAD GASKETS AND WE'VE GOTTEN A REFUND FOR THE GASKETS. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT GASKETS BLEW AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE, I TEND TO FEEL FORD SHOULD COVER THE REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR OF THE ENGINE. HENRY CURTIS HAS REFUSED TO COOPERATE WITH US, AND FORD'S WARRANTY REPS WON'T TALK WITH US. DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH SWAY BAR BRACKET ON THE HIGHWAY BROKE , BACK END WAS MOVING UNCONTROLLABLY. DEALER SAID RARE FOR THIS DEFECT TO HAPPEN, REPLACED BRACKET. *AK
VEHICLE WAS IN PARK ,ENGINE TURNED OFF, NOTICED THAT BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD.THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE INJURIES. *AK
HORN RELAY SYSTEM FAILED, CAUSING HORN TO BLOW CONTINUOUSLY.
DRINK HOLDER FAILED ALLOWING HOT DRINK TO TIP OVER ONTO DRIVER.
DRIVING AT APPROX 60 MPH STARTED TO SMELL ANTI FREEZE, SMOKE COMING FROM EXHAUST, WENT TO DEALER , HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT. *AK
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED BECAUSE THE PISTON IN THE TRANSMISSION HAD A CRACK IN IT. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WARMS UP THE CRACK EXPANDS, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP. THE WINDSTAR WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP ON DEC. 1, 1997. *AK
VIOLENT DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING COLLISION CAUSING INJURIES TO CONSUMERS FACE AND NECK.
SPEEDOMETER HEAD AND CABLE FAILED. NLM
DESIGN OF THE CLUTCH PISTON CAUSED IT TO CRACK, PART IS MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGED TO STEEL.
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO WORK AFTER 33,000 MILES. WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT LEVER INTO REVERSE OR INTO DRIVE. WAS ABLE TO TAKE TO DEALER & HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED. *AK
CRIUSE CONTROL STUCK, CAUSING AUTOMOBILE TO ACCELERATE TO APPROX 85 MPH. NO INJURIES, JUST UPSET CONSUMER. *AK
HEAD GASKETS AND TIMING COVER FAILED TWICE WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, EXCEPT FOR THE SECOND TIME MANUFACTURER STATES TIMING COVER FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO HEAD GASKET FAILURE, AS WELL AS PISTON ROD FAILURE ONCE. *JB
ENGINE FAILURE FIRST DUE TO BLOWN GASKET, SECOND TIME DUE TO CRANKSAFT ROD BEARING FAILURE.
ENGINE BLEW THE HEAD GASKET.
WHEN MINIVAN SLOWED DOWN AND DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES THERE WERE NO BRAKES, DRIVER DID NOT PUMP THE BRAKES. *AK CONSUMER STATED HE SLOWED FROM 70MPH TO 30 MPH WITH NO PROBLEMS WHILE ENTERING CITY LIMITS, WHEN SLOWING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AHEAD, BRAKES WERE INOPERABLE CAUSING A CRASH AND $8000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE REAR WINDOW WINDSHIELD WIPER, WASHER, AND DEFROSTER SWITCH IS TOO LOW, ONE HAS TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO FIND IT. RADIO CONTROLS DO NOT ALLOW FOR MANUAL OPERATION WITHOUT DIVERTING THE DRIVER'S ATTENTION FROM DRIVING VEHICLE. *SLC
