THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AT 10-15-97. I TOOK IT IN AND THE FORD DEALOR TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON 4 TO 5 TIMES SINCE. NOW THAT THE DEALOR HAS IDENTEFIED THE PROBLEM THEY TELL ME IT WILL BE A 1200.00 FIX. OF COURSE NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK

VEHICLE COLLISION OCCURRED AND THE AIR BAG HAD VIOLENT DEPLOYMENT, INJURING THE DRIVER.
REAR AXLE PROBLEMS.
IGNITION SYSTEM MIS-FIRED DUE TO TWO CYLINDERS GETTING LEAN MIXTURE AND ONE CYLINDER GETTING ALL EXHAUST GAS WHEN TWO EGR HOLES BECAME PLUGGED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND OWNER NOTICED SMOTE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST.

CAR FAILED TO GO AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT RED LIGHT MANY TIMES , ABS LIGHT STAYS ON,EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON,SPEEDOMETER SPINS OUT OF CONTROL,INTERIOR LIGHTS SOMETIMES STAY ON,
THUMP FELT IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN STARTING TO MOVE OR WHILE STOPPING THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE INSIDE. *AK

CONSUMER WAS HIT FROM THE REAR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE, RESULTING INTO A FOUR VEHICLE COLLISION IN WHICH THE DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK CONSUMER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.*JB
VEHICLE STOPPED AT LIGHT/SIGN & THEN READY TO MOVE FORWARD, CANNOT ENGAGE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE POSITION. ITS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. DEALER CANNOT FIND PROBLEM. INFORMED OWNER TO WAIT UNTIL IT'S WORSE BEFORE THE PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND & FIXED. DEALER FINALLY REPLACED TRANSMISSION ON 10/24/97. NO OTHER OCCURRENCES SINCE LATEST REPAIRS. *AK

FRONT WINDSHIELD FAILED.
SHOULDER PART 0F THE SEAT BELT WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH ON WET PAVEMENT AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS COMING HEAD-ON AND COLLIDED. THE SHOULDER BELT DIDN'T HOLD THE DRIVER. 4 OCCUPANTS SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK
VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO SEPARATE TRANSMISSION OVERHAULS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER FIVE SEPERATE TIMES FOR ENGINE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE CONCERENED WITH MY ISSUES OR PROBLEMS.*AK
ROTORS ARE WARPING, I CHANGED THEM AND THEY WARP AGAIN, UNDERSIZED BRAKES. *AK
POWER WINDOW FAILED.
VIOLENT DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS CAUSED BURN INJURY.
THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND IT'S COMPONENTS FAILED, THE ABS LIGHT HAD COME ON CONSTANTLY, THE TRANSMISSION BURNED OUT, AND THE ENGINE WAS CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A NEW VEHICLE OR A NEW ENGINE. MR SCC
CONSUMER HAS EXPRIENCED IDLE CONTROL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE FOUR-FIVE TIMES. FIRST TIME JULY 29-97, THEN NO PROBLEM FOR FIVE DAYS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVING 35MPH, IF FOOT IS TAKEN OFF PEDAL AT 35MPH THE VEHICLE IDLES THERE. WHEN DRIVING AT 55 IN OVER DRIVE THE IDLE GEST STUCK ALSO. DEALER CHANGED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL THE FIRST TIME PART #9F715-9F670. THE FOURTH TIME DEALER ADDED A FLIGHT RECORDER WHICH RECORDED THREE FAILURES, BUT THEY CANNOT FIND A CAUSE. VEHICLE IS IN SHOP FOR FIFTH TIME. LAKE SHORE FORD- MERCURY-TOYOTA INC. 244 MELTON RD. *AK CHESTERTON, IN. 46034. 219-787-8600. THIS HAS OCCURED OVER 20 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN ONE MONTH.
UNDER NORMAL OPERATIONS OF VEHICLE, TRANSMISSION CHANGES FROM DRIVE TO LOW GEAR ON ITS OWN, RESULTS IN SUDDEN REDUCTION OF SPEED, NO PRIOR WARNING. *AK
THE VEHICLE PARKED FOR TWO DAYS HAD A DEFECTIVE REAR A/C WIRE WHICH WAS TOO SHORT, AND CAUSED AN OVERLOAD ON THAT REAR A/C WIRE, CAUSING A FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, ENGINE LIGHT DID COME ON, BUT LIGHT WENT OFF. *AK
EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE WEAR OF THE BRAKE PADS/CALIPERS AND ROTORS. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. DEALER HAS REPLACED PARTS ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. SPROBLEM STILL OCCURS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
ABS AND HAND BRAKE FAILURE.
THE ROTORS WARPED AND CAUSED THE WINDSTAR TO SHAKE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED IN JULY OF 1997 BY DEALERSHIP. *AK
THE BRAKES ON LEASED VEHICLE HAVE GONE BAD, AND THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE OR REPAIR THESE BRAKES, AND THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
-VEHICLE WAS IN PARK FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED DOWN THE STREET. DRIVER STARTED RUNNING BEHIND VEHICLE AND WAS PINNED BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND LIGHT, AND SUFFERED SOME DAMAGE TO HER LEFT SIDE. THERE IS A RECALL LISTED ON THE TRANSMISSION 96V-086000. DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS WHAT THE RECALL STATES WILL HAPPEN, BUT THEY SAY THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED ON RECALL FOR THE PARK PAWL ROLL PIN POPPING OUT OF GEAR. DEALER HAS VEHICLE NOW IN SHOP FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FEE. *AK
VAN WAS PARKED RUNNING IN THE DRIVEWAY, PASSENGER EXITED THE VEHICLE WHILE IN PARK. CAR SAT IN PARK FOR 1-2 MINUTES AND STARTED TO ROLL. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE MODEL OF VEHICLE MAKE AND YEAR, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL . *AK

ABS SYSTEM HAS A SHORT.
THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TRAVEL IN A STRAIGHT LINE. CONSTANTLY PULLS / WANDERS TO THE RIGHT. DEALER HAS HAD CAR 10 TO 12 TIMES. PARTS REPLACED IN AN ATTEMPT TO CURE PROBLEM ARE : STEERING RACK, PART OF STEERING COLUMN, TIRES. CAR HAS BEEN ALLIGNED 8 TIMES. CAR HAS ONLY 22,500 MILES ON IT. FORD REGIONAL ENGINEER CONTACTED AND HIS ATTEMPT TO REPAIR MADE MATTERS WORSE. AFTER FORD ENGINEER FAILED ATTEMPT, DEALER HAS HAD CAR TWICE MORE TO ATTEMPT TO REMEDY BY ALLIGNING SLIGHTLY OUT OF SPEC. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND MAKES CAR DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SAFELY. I HAVE FILED A CLAIM AGAINST FORD AT THEIR DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BOARD. *AK
DT: 1996 FORD WINDSTAR WAS PARKED WHEN AN EXPLOSION OCCURRED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPT WAS CALLED. THE CONSUMER FELT THE AIR BAG MAY HAVE EXPLODED. THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR CHECKED THE VEHICLE TO COVER EXPENSES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. FORD INVESTIGATORS PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT HEARD FROM THE INVESTIGATORS. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WA PARKED IT CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DUETO A POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL ALTERNATOR WIRE. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND KEY OUT OF IGNITION; V EHICLE ROLLED ACROSS ANN ISLE IN PARKING LOT DUE TO EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE AND STOPPED AT A PLANTER ISLAND. *AK
PARKING THE VEHICLE AND COMING TO STOP, VEHICLE WENT INTO OPEN THROTTLE POSITION, APPLIED BRAKES, VEHICLE IMPACT 12:00 POSITION, LOW SPEED 5MPH. *AK
ABS BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. AFTER APPLYING BRAKES THERE'S PLENTY OF VIBRATION. STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE HELD TIGHTLY DUE TO MOVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. TOOK TO DEALER 6 TIMES & BRAKES REPAIRED EACH TIME. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. MANUFACTURER SAID MET WARRANTY OBLIGATION. *AK
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS: DUE TO ROTORS WARPING, THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. ALL HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY. NOW, MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, AND THEREFORE, I AM STUCK WITH ANY FUTURE PROBLEMS. PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR: RUST WAS FOUND ON INSIDE BOTTOM OF DOOR. IT WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED; DEALER IS WAITING FOR FORD TO APPROVE NEW DOOR TO BE INSTALLED (UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY).

MLP SWITCH FAILED CAUSING VEHICLE TO NOT ACCELERATE WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. NLM
TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN AN REVERSE POSTION. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM. *AK
A FIRE STARTED IN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING COLUMN WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH LUGS: NUTS SHEARED OFF, CAUSING TIRE TO DISCONNECT, VEHICLE FELL TO THE GROUND, COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. *AK
INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT PREVENT THE GEAR FROM SHIFTING FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER. *AK
THE VEHICLE'S INTEGRATED CHILD SEAT STRAPS WHICH COME ACROSS THE CHILD'S CHEST CAN POP OPEN VERY EASILY. THE CHILD WHICH SITS IN THE SEAT CAN POP OPEN THE STRAPS. *AK *SLC
DRIVING 30MPH, WENT OVER POTHOLE WHICH CAUSED STRUT TO BE PUSHED UPWARDS & WAS CRUSHED. VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN, BUT NOT FOR LONG. TOOK TO FORD & COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. TOOK TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS & INFORMED BY BOTH OF CRUSHED STRUT. *AK
WHEN DRIVING THE BRAKES WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. CONUMER HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. ALSO, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THERE IS A LOUD NOISE. THE BRAKES HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT BRAKES HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY YEAR. CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE IS ANOTHER SAFETY PROBLEM INVOLVING THE ELECTRICALSYSTEM. THE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON , AS WELL AS THE LIGHT'S ON THE DASHBOARD KEEP COMING ON. IN ADDITION, GAS GAUGE FAILED TO INDICATE THE PROPER AMOUNT OF GAS LEFT IN THE TANK. *AK
