ABS LIGHT ACTIVATES AFTER HITTING THE SMALLEST OF BUMP THEN STAYS ON THE REMAINDER OF TRIP. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE BRAKES AND PEDDLE TO ACT UP. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THE BACK ON THE LIGHT GOES OUT AND BRAKES WORK PROPERLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE HITS THE NEXT BUMP... *TR
ABS LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING IN 35 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
ABS LIGHT STAYS ON MAKING THEM INOPERABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGHLY. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND INSPECTED, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT BUT INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FRONT END IS MAKING A VERY LOUD POPPING NOISE ON BOTH SIDES. SINCE THE FRONT END BEGAN POPPING THE STEERING IS UNBELIEVABLY HARD TO CONTROL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 00V351000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MECHANIC CHECKED OBD AND FOUND CODE C1185, ABS RELAY POWER CIRCUIT. SHOWS RECALL HOWEVER FORD STATES THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS. *TR
ABS LIGHT ON DASH AND OTHER WARNING LIGHTS MALFUNCTION AT DIFFERENT TIMES ALONG WITH DISPLAYS THAT HAVE CHARACTERS IN DASH THAT ARE UN-FAMILIAR. BEEPS OCCUR THAT I FIND NO EXPLANATION IN MANUAL. HAVE HAD 2 MALFUNCTION IN ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK PASSENGER SIDE DOORS FROM OUTSIDE DOORS. REAR DOOR LATCH CANNOT BE OPENED EXCEPT WITH KEY IN EVENT OF CERTAIN TYPES OF CRASHES ESPECIALLY IF OCCUPANTS ARE NOT CONSCIOUS. *TR

I HAD STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN. WHEN IT WAS CLEAR FOR ME TO GO, I ACCELERATED AND WHEN I GOT TO THE NEXT STO SIGN AND SLOWED OWN, MY CAR WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. ABS WARNING LIGHT IS ON, MULTIPLE OBD2 CODES. *TR
I CURRENTLY OWN 2 - 2000 FORD WINDSTAR VANS. BOTH OF MY VANS ARE WHEEL CHAIR CONVERSION VANS, REAR ENTRY TYPE. THEY ARE USED TO TRANSPORT MY SON, A STUDENT IN COLLEGE AT MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY. HE HAS CEREBRAL PALSY, AND USES A POWER WHEELCHAIR. HIS FRIENDS, AND ATTENDANTS USE THE VANS TO TRANSPORT HIM. LAST SPRING I HAD ONE OF THE VANS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE KEY PROGRAMMING. WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, THE REPAIR TO THE REAR AXEL WAS MADE, WHICH INVOLVED INSTALLING SUPPORT BRACKETS TO THE AXEL. THESE BRACKETS ARE CLAMPED TOGETHER ON THE TOP OF THE AXEL. THIS INCREASE IN AXEL HEIGHT CAUSED A PROBLEM THAT TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS FOR ME TO DIAGNOSE. ANYTIME THE VAN DROVE OVER A BUMP, A SEVERE JAR, AND LOUD BANG HAPPENED. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, BOTH VANS WERE SITTING NEXT TO EACH OTHER. I WAS DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM TO ONE OF MY DRIVERS, AND BEGAN TO SHOW HIM WHAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. AND I SAW IT, THE INSTALLED BRACKETS WERE HITTING THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEELCHAIR FLOOR. IT WAS METAL AGAINST METAL, AND HAD BEGAN TO BEND INTO THE FLOOR PAN. I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO STATED THEY DID WHAT WAS REQUIRED, AND THAT WAS ALL THEY COULD DO. BUT NOW ALL THE WEIGHT OF THE VAN IS POUNDING ON THESE BRACKETS, WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN A WEAK SPOT ON THE AXEL. THEY DECIDED TO PLACE A PIECE OF RUBBER ABOVE THE BRACKET, BUT THIS ONLY INCREASES THE AXEL HEIGHT. I FEEL THE AXEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE FACTORY BUMP STOP NO LONGER FUNCTIONS, AS THIS NEW DEALER DESIGNED BRACKET IS MY NEW BUMP STOP. I'M CONCERNED THIS CONSTANT SLAMMING OF THE BODY INTO THE CORRODED AXEL IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN WHAT I WAS FACING ORIGINALLY. CALLS TO FORD HAS BEEN POINTLESS. I HAVE READ DEALERS HAVE DISCRETION OF REPLACING VS REPAIRING *TR
DRIVING AND LIGHT WILL COME ON AND WHEN YOU GO TO STOP IT WILL VIBRATE. AND THE BRAKES ARE NEW AND THAT LIGHT WILL BE OFF AND THEN IT WILL COME BACK ON AND STOP BAD AGAIN. *TR
THE REAR AXEL BROKE. CONTACTED FORD BECAUSE THIS WAS A RECALL THAT THEY JUST PUT BRACKETS OVER PARTS OF THE AXEL. IT STILL BROKE DUE TO CORROSION. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THEY PUT BRACKETS ON AND THAT FIXED IT BUT IT STILL BROKE RIGHT WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS GOING TO. *TT
FRONT OF VEHICLE STARTED GRABBING. I CHECKED THE CODES AND FOUND C1185. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULES WITH THE WINDSTARS. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE MY COMPLAINT AND HAVE A RECALL FOR FORD TO FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS. *JS
ABS LIGHTS STAY ON CONSTANTLY , REAR BRAKES LOCKS UP. USED A SCANNER TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM ,SAY ABS MODULE IS FAULTY. *JS

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL MY INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDLES (SPEEDOMETER,GAS, RPM, MILEAGE, TEMPERATURE) WERE ALL JUMPING AROUND. THIS WENT ON ALL THE WAY HOME. I PARKED THE CAR BUT THE RPM NEEDLE WAS STUCK I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE RPM NEEDLE BUT NOW ITS BROKE .THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTINUES TO SPORADICALLY GO FROM WORKING, TO NOT WORKING AT ALL, TO ALL THE NEEDLES JUMPING AROUND. *TR
AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY DURING A BUMPER TO BUMPER ACCIDENT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND MY REAR AXLE GAVE OUT CAUSING MY TIRE TO TILT IN AND RUB AGAINST THE AXLE ALMOST CAUSING A FIRE. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THEY REPLACED IT ONCE AND WON'T REPLACE IT AGAIN. WHEN FIRST AXLE WAS REPLACE WITH A FAULTY AXLE FROM A WINDSTAR IN A JUNK YARD BEFORE THE RECALL EVER CAME OUT I PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED AND WAS REIMBURSED BY FORD. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THEY CAN'T REPLACE IT AGAIN. THEY NEVER FELT THE NEED TO INSPECT THE VAN WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT. *TR
REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER IS NOT WORKING. MECHANIC STATES THE REAR WIPER MOTOR HAS WATER DAMAGE AND MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
WHEN SHIFTING THE CAR INTO P, R, N, OR D, IT MAKES A LOUD THUMPING SOUND AND MAKES THE WHOLE CAR JERK. WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL YOU CAN HEAR A LOUD GRINDING, CREAKY CRACKING LIKE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. *TR
MY SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME AS I STOPPED TO AVOID HITTING A CAR THAT HAD STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF ME AND MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL HARD CAUSING BRUISING. THE SEAT BELT IS WORKING PROPERLY. I CALLED FORD TO INFORM THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR REGARDING THE SEAT BELT. *TR
ALL OF THE DASHBOARD NEEDLES BEGAN FLIPPING BACK AND FORTH SPORADICALLY. THEY WOULD BOTTOM OUT BELOW THE 0 MARK FOR A WHILE REGISTERING NO SPEED OR GAS TANK AMOUNT AND THEN START JUMPING AROUND AGAIN. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WAS LYING ACROSS THE BOTTOM AND KEPT THE CAR FROM BEING ABLE TO GO INTO PARK. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY, UNABLE TO BE RE-STARTED, UNABLE TO STEER AND I HAD TO HOLD MY FOOT ON THE BREAK IN ORDER TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING. WE WERE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO START AND THEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME ONCE THE NEEDLE JUMPED BACK UP. ONCE AGAIN IN THE DRIVEWAY, IT DID THE SAME THING AND WE HAD TO DRILL A HOLE IN THE DASH IN ORDER TO MANUALLY MOVE THE NEEDLE OUT OF THE WAY SO THE VAN COULD BE PLACED IN PARK. WE WILL BE HAVING IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. *TR
I NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT AND NEW TIRES AND HAVE A CLUNKING SOUND IN THE FRONT END CHECKED OUT ON MY VAN SO I BROUGHT IT TO KEENE AUTOMOTIVE IN DANSVILLE NEW YORK. WHILE I WAS THERE I ALSO HAD A NEW INNER TIE ROD END PUT IN. AFTER HE WAS DONE THE OWNER BOB KEENE BROUGHT ME OUT TO THE SHOP FLOOR AND SHOWED ME ON THE COMPUTER FOR ALIGNMENT WAS SHOWING THAT THERE WAS A DEGREE OF CAMBER OFF ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHICH HE FEELS WAS CAUSED BY THE FIX JOB THAT WAS DONE TO THE SUBFRAME BY FORD. HE ALSO SHOWED ME IN SPOTS WHERE THE SUB FRAME WAS ROTTING BENEATH FORDS FIX IT JOB THAT WAS DONE IN JULY OF LAST YEAR FOR THE RECALL . I AM UNSURE AS TO WHAT TO DO IN THIS SCENARIO I AM STILL DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS KEENE STATED IT WAS SAFE FOR A SHORT TIME. I AM NOT ABLE TO AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE RIGHT NOW I AM THE ONLY ONE WORKING AND SUPPORTING A FAMILY OF 5. *TR

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. GOING 20 MPH. HEARD A CLUNK, THEN A BIG BAM. FRONT TIRE WAS BLOWN. PULLED INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO WHERE I WORK (TOYOTA DEALER). SERVICE LOOKED AT IT THE NEXT DAY. THE LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE. IT ALSO NEEDS A NEW TIRE, SPRING, STRUT AND ABS SENSOR. I'VE HAD ALL THE RECALLS PERFORMED. I'VE ALWAYS DONE THE SERVICE NEEDED. OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKS IT OUT EVERY YEAR TO MAKE SURE IT'S SAFE. I'M LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T HIT ANYONE AND WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND ABOUT THE MAKE A TURN BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY TIGHT AND FELT LIKE IT WAS PULLING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHERE I WANTED TO TURN. MY SON WAS IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT AND TOGETHER WE WERE ABLE TO TURN IN ORDER TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND CALL THE MECHANIC. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR

AFTER UNPLUGGING ABS TO KEEP 10 AMP FUSE FROM BLOWING AND TO GET THE AC TO WORK, BRAKING SYSTEM IS LEAKING. *TR
YELLOW ABS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND CODE C1185 (ABS POWER RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FAILURE) IS PRESENT. *TR
GOING DOWN THE ROAD TRACTION CONTROL WILL GO OFF AND ON . IT WILL MAKE THE STEERING VERY HARD. THEN WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF. IT IS VERY HARD TO START UP . SOME TIMES YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR ABOUT TWO OR THREE HOURS THEN IT WILL START RIGHT UP. THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM IS VERY BAD. SOMETIMES WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL STARTS TO HAVE A PROBLEM THE VAN IS VERY HARD TO EVEN KEEP IT IN CONTROL I'M DISABLED AND CAN'T AFFORD TO GET A BETTER VAN. I'VE TRIED TO TAKE IT BACK TO FORD BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. ALL THEY TALE ME IS TO GET ANEW ONE .BUT I CAN'T. THE POWER ON THE DOOR LOCKS ARE BAD THE LOCKS WILL GO LOCKED AND UNLOCK AS YOU DRIVE IT DOWN THE ROAD. BEEN DOING THIS FOR ABOUT. 3 YEARS. OR MORE. HAD IT IN TO FORD MANY TIMES.

CONTACT FOR MORE INFORMATION. I NEED AN ASSESSMENT DONE ON MY FORD 2000 WINDSTAR LX SO I MAY BE COMPENSATED FOR THE TOTAL COSTS AND DAMAGES AND HAVE THE VEHICLE REPLACED OR COMPLETELY REPAIRED TO A SAFE, DRIVABLE CONDITION. (RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH AN OBJECT, PART(S) FAILURE APPARENT AS WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM IS DETACHED. A SEPARATION OF A FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM REAR ATTACHING BRACKET MAY RESULT IN A LOWER CONTROL ARM SEPARATION. A SEPARATION OF BOTH FRONT SUBFRAME REAR BODY MOUNTS MAY RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. EITHER CONDITION COULD RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. FRONT *TR

I PURCHASED A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. N 4/6/13, I WAS GOING 20 MPH AND THE BRAKES WERE FAILING, I PULLED INTO LENTZ. THEY REPAIRED EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF. AFTER HAVING MY BRAKES COMPLETELY REPAIRED THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. BRING IT BACK TO LENTZ, WITH THOUSANDS OF APOLOGIES AND PROMISES TO FIX IT RIGHT. THEY REPAIRED EVEN MORE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM.. THE BRAKES ABS SYSTEM LIGHT STILL COMES ON, BRAKES SEEM TO NOT WORK OK. SO I BRING TO FORD TO HAVE THE RECALLS CHECKED. THEY SAID THAT MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AGAIN AND EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A RECALL FROM BEFORE, AND THAT THEY ALREADY INSTALLED A JUMPER AND FUSE FOR IT SO IT WONT FAIL OR LEAK. BUT APPARENTLY IT'S STILL LEAKING AND FAULTING OUT. SO I ASKED THEM TO FIX IT, THEY WOULD NOT. I CALLED CORPORATE, AND THEY WILL NOT BUDGE. FORD WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY CLAIM IT HAS ALREADY BEEN WORKED ON THAT PARTICULAR RECALL AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T "REDO" RECALL WORK. SO THAT BEING SAID THEY TOLD ME, I WOULD BE SAFE DRIVING IT LIKE THIS. THAT IT'S NO BIGGIE AND IT WONT HURT ANYTHING IF BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING A LITTLE TINY BIT BY THE SWITCH. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH KIDS. I BOUGHT IT THEN I PUT OVER 2650 DOLLARS SO FAR INTO THIS STUPID VAN. EVERYTHING HAS GONE WRONG. FROM FRONT AXLE TO BRAKES, TO NO HEAT, ELECTRICAL CRAZY STUFF GOING ON. OF COURSE THEY NEVER FIND IT OR IT APPARENTLY DON'T ACT UP WHEN THEY TEST IT ALL. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS VAN. ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED OF IT. THEY EVEN TOLD ME TO "BE CAREFUL, AS IT MAY CATCH ON FIRE BY THE MASTER CYLINDER" AFTER TELLING ME THEY DON'T REDO OLD RECALLS!! I GUESS THEY PUT A BRACKET KIT ON THE FRONT SUBFRAME AS PART OF RECALL BUT NOW IT HAS MORE PLAY IN THE WHEEL, I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO REALLY STEER TO KEEP IT IN BETWEEN THE LINES. THEY SHOULD FIX MY CYLINDER ABS PROBLEM NO MATTER WHAT ITS THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT.! TONS OF OTHER SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN TOO. *TR
