TRANSMISSION ROLLS OR SLIPSWHEN ON ANY INCLINE WHEN IN ANY GEAR (D,1,2 OR R)
WHILE STOPPING VEHICLE STALLED AND DIED WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER WAS INSPECTING VEHICLE . PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, BECAUSE OF AN UNDIAGNOSED HUMMING NOISE IN MY 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. THE NOISE IS A HIGH PITCHED, HUMMING SOUND THAT OCCURS SPORADICALLY, AND INTERMITENTLY, EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE CAN OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK, AND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, BUT THE NOISE NEVER FAILS TO OCCUR, INTERMITENTLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ON. THE NOISE IS LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD ABOVE THE RADIO AT NORMAL VOLUME. IT OCCURS FREQUENTLY, USUALLY IN 30 SECOND SPURTS, AND 3 TO 5 MINUTE INTERVALS. WE JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A MONTH AGO. I HAVE NOTICED THE SOUND EVER SINCE. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SOUND OF THE WIND HOWLING. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE (ED SCHMID FORD). THE DEALERSHIP ALSO DETECTED THE NOISE, BUT FAILED TO DIAGNOSE AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT SOUNDS LIKE A FAULTY MECHANICAL/OPERATIONAL NOISE, RATHER THAN A SQUEAK AND RATTLE NOISE.*AK
I HAVE REPEATEDLY CONTACTED MY DEALER FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT EXIST WITH MY VEHICLE. THE BRAKES FAIL AFTER PROLONGED PRESSURE AT RED LIGHTS. I WAS TOLD TO SET MY PARKING BRAKES TO ADJUST. I HAD TWO LARGE BUMPS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A BROKEN BEARING AND THEY REPLACED MY STEERING WHEEL AND FIXED THE BROKEN BEARING. THE NEW WHEEL HAS THE EXACT SAME BUMPS. I WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS MAKING GRINDING SOUNDS. THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED. THE ENIGE HAS A TICKING NOISE WHEN VEHICLE IS IN GEAR BUT STOPPED WITH BRAKE. I WAS TOLS THIS IS THE INJECTORS AND NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE VAN STALLS AT ANY SPEED FOR NO REASON AFTER LONG PERIODS OF DRIVING. I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR. I HAVE HAD MY VAN NOT LONG AND ALREADY HAVE A REBUILT NEW VAN. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND DROVE ANOTHER VAN. NONE OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS WERE SEEN. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD DO BUT TO TRADE IN AND PAY MEGA BUCKS FOR ANOTHER ONE. MY VAN HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 9 DAYS THE FIRST TIME AND 15 DAYS THE SECOND TIME. I FEEL I HAVE BEEN WRONGED BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND I SHOULD BE GIVEN A VEHICLE THAT I CAN DRIVE AND FEEL SAFE IN. I FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE HAS MORE PROBLEMS THEN THE 1980 AEROSTAR THAT I REPLACED WITH THIS ONE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. IF THERE IS NOTHING, THEN PLEASE WARN OTHERS FROM THE PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE ENCURRED.*AK
WE HAVE HAD A CONTINUAL PROBLEM KEEPING OUR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR TO STAY OPEN WHEN THE VAN IS PARKED ON EVEN THE SLIGHTEST OF AN INCLINE. WE HAVE EVEN SWITCHED OUR CHILD'S CAR SEAT TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING, AND UPON UPON COMING TO A STOP ON AN INCLINE CAR ROLLS BACKWARD VERY FREELY, WHEN ON STEEP INCLINE CAR ROLLS BACKWARD AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER.*AK *SLC
SLIDING SIDE DOOR HAS A FAULTY MECHANISM. WHILE DRIVING DOOR JUST OPENED ON ITS OWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION, AND IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.*AK
CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE TIRES IN FEWER MILES THAN WHAT TIRE WERE WARRANTED FOR HAS TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, MECHANIC STATED NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. ALIGNMENT WAS DONE, TIRE WEAR WAS STILL OCCURRING. CONSUMER HAD TAKEN VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, MECHANIC INDICATTED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE. CONSUMER HAD NOTIFIED MANUFACTURER, AND REPRESENTATIVE STATED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE IF ALIGNMENT MET SPECS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN OR WHEN THERE IS COLD WEATHER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. HAS TO PULL BRAKE PEDAL UP FROM FLOOR. *AK BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT TURN OFF UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS MANUALLY PULLED UP. THIS OCCURS BOTH AT LOW AND HIGH POSITIONS OF PEDAL ADJUSTER. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *YH
DRIVER'S SIDE SLINGING DOOR AUTOMATICLY OPENED WHILE DRIVING. DEALER IS INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE LOCATION OF THE BRAKE PEDDEL IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE GAS PEDAL HAS RESULTED IN THE GAS PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE AS THEY ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER.(MY HUSBAND WILL NO LONGER DRIVE THE VAN AS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS MOST OFTEN FOR HIM DUE TO HIS LARGER SHOE SIZE.) ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE GAS PEDAL AND MY FOOT BECAME TANGLED UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING ME TO ROLL INTO ON COMMING TRAFFIC WHEN TRYING TO STOP WHILE EXITING FROM A PARKING LOT. NO ACCIDENT OCCURED AS THE ON-COMING TRAFFIC STOPPED IN TIME TO AVOID MY VAN.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE POWER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT HAVE A SENSOR TO STOP THEM FROM CLOSING QUICKLY CAUSING PASSENGERS ENTERING VEHICLE TO BE CRUSHED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE DOOR CLOSE MANUALLY. DEALER STATES TO SEE OWNERS MANUAL, AND OILED TRACKS, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST. CONSUMER FOUND OWNERS MANUAL DOES NOT INSTRUCT ON HOW TO MANUALLY OPERATE DOOR. *TT
FOR QUITE SOME TIME I FELT THAT MY LEFT DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL WAS GOING ON ALL BY ITSELF AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN. I NOT ONLY CONFIRMED THIS TO BE TRUE BUT CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN AFTER EVERY RIGHT TURN. AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO TURN TO GO STRAIGHT AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN, A GENTLE PUSH TO THE LEFT WILL CAUSE THE DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL TO SIGNAL LEFT ALL BY ITSELF. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR THIS AND MANY OTHER STRANGE THINGS WHICH HAVE INFECTED THIS VAN! I ALSO HAVE BUBBLES AND DENTS IN MY TIRES WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY CHAINS DURING SHIPPING. MY CONCERN IS THAT THESE TIRES CAN FAIL WITH THIS SORT OF DEFECT. MY SELLING DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE ME WITH TIRE WARRANTY INFORMATION AND THE DEALER I MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE WHO COVERS THEM! I GUESS I WILL FIND OUT ON 8/2/02, THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT!. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THE AUTOMATIC DOORS HAVE NO SENSORS TO STOP THEM IF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY. DOOR ALREADY CLOSED ON CONSUMER WHILE REMOVING CHILDREN FROM VEHICLE. *TT

THE DOME, AND DOOR LIGHTS CAME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND IMPAIRED CONSUMER'S VISION. *JB
THE HOOD OF THE SUV IS PARTIALLY MADE OF CHROME WHICH RATTLED AT HIGH SPEEDS. *NLM
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HILL, AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SURGE FORWARD. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES FAILED CAUSING THE DRIVING TO THROW IT NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE.B PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS FAILED WITH ONLY 3,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES ENGINE STARTS SURGING AND SHAKING. DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED ANY SPEED VEHICLE WOULD STALL DUE TO ANTI THEFT DEVICE. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE A CHILD WAS GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THE SLIDING DOOR CAUGHT THE CHILD'S RIGHT ARM WHICH RESULTED IN INJURY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *NLM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. DEALER SAID WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED BECAUSE OF WATER DAMAGE AND CORROSION. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE GEAR AND CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IN REVERSE.*MR THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD COST 1800-2000 MILES. *JB *NM
CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC FOUND EXCESSIVE METAL IN THE PAN AND ON THE MAGNET. MECHANIC SUGGESTED REMOVAL OF THE TRANSMISSION FOR INSPECTION. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION, BRAKE LIGHTS AND HEAD LIGHT EQUIPMENT. *MR THE LIGHT KEPT BLOWING OUT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE TWICE, REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER BRAKE LIGHT ONCE AND THE REAR CENTER BRAKE LIGHT TWICE. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. *JB
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH IN PARALLEL TRAFFIC. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK IN FULL THROTTLE. AS A RESULT, DRIVER HIT A WALL AT 60 MPH. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
FAILURE IN GAS TANK WHICH LED CONSUMER TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A DESIGN FAILURE. *LA THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLY RUBBED ON THE GAS TANK FROM THE INSIDE WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL, WHICH CAUSED THE GAS TANK TO HAVE A PIN HOLE LEAK, WITH THE LEAK THE SYSTEM WAS UNABLE TO PRESSURIZE, WHICH CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. *JB
THE HANDLE STARTED TO CRACK AT THE BOTTOM WHERE IT HOOKED ONTO THE SEAT ON BOTH SIDES. *PH THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THE CHILD SEAT WAS OLDER THAN 3 MONTHS. THE CONSUMER ALSO NOTICED THE SIDE NOTCHES WHERE THE SEAT BELTS GO WHEN NOT IN USE SHOWED SIGNS OF STRESS.( MODEL #3161356O1) *JB
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE CONSUMER REMOVED FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO APPLY THE BRAKES, AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL TO STOP VAN FROM ACCELERATING. DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE VAN TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
ANY TIME THAT VEHICLE WAS ON THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, WHICH FOUND THREE DIFFERENT CODES ON THE VEHICLE. MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE BATTERY LIGHT, BUT TWO WEEKS LATER IT WAS BACK ON AGAIN.*AK
A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD GOT HIS ARM CAUGHT IN SLIDING DOOR. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD TO KICK AND POUND THE DOOR TO GET IT OPEN. CONSUMER FINALLY GOT THE DOOR OPENED BUT NOT BY THE HANDLE. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WITHOUT CAUSE. *AK
