REAR AXLE COMPLETE FRACTURE SEPARATION ON DRIVERS SIDE LAST NIGHT 6/4/14 ON MY FORD WINDSTAR LIMITED EDITION, 2002. FORD DEALER DID INSPECTION 3 1/2 YEARS AGO AS PER RECALL 10S13. IT PASSED INSPECTION ACCORDING TO THEM (NO CRACKS). 6 MONTHS LATER, THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL PROCEDURE BY REINFORCING THE AXLE IN TWO PLACES (ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURE'S RECOMMENDATION AS PER DEALER). VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO DEALER WHO INSPECTED IT AND SENT PHOTOS TO FORD MANUFACTURER. FORD REFUSES TO COVER THE COST (AS PER THE DEALER) BECAUSE RECALL WORK WAS DONE AND VEHICLE IS TOO OLD. I CALLED FORD MANUFACTURER TO OBJECT AND ASK FOR RECONSIDERATION. REP WHO ANSWERED CANNOT GO AGAINST DECISION. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. HE SAID ONE WILL CONTACT ME WITHIN 2 HOURS. I RECEIVED NO CALL AS YET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AT THE SAME TIME WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WHILE THE LIGHTS ARE ON, THE ABS SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE AND BRAKING DISTANCE IS REDUCED. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. WHEN DRIVING THE PROBLEM WILL SHOW UP AND AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING, THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT. ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN WITHIN A FEW DAYS/WEEK LATER. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE WINDOWS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THE BATTERY, AND THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FOLLOW-UP ON ODI # 10593430. ON MAY 26, 2014, AFTER FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORT WALTON BEACH, FL KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR A WEEK TO FIX THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SEAT LATCHES RECALL, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PICK UP MY VAN. THEY ALSO CHECKED THE CAUSE OF ODOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER TO STOPPED WORKING, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ON, SLIDING DOORS NOT WORKING, AND O/D LIGHT FLASHING; I WAS TOLD THE CAUSE IS A DEFECTIVE ABS MODULE. THEY CHARGED ME $114.27 TO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND QUOTED ME $1,265.00 TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. I SHOWED TO FORD SERVICE ADVISOR, ANDREW TOMPITCH, A PRINT-OUT FROM NHTSA WEBSITE STATING THAT PART OF FIXING OR REMEDY TO THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL WAS TO "INSPECT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR AND REPAIR AS NECESSARY." "REPAIRS WILL BE COMPLETED FREE OF CHARGE." YET FORD CHARGED ME FOR THIS SERVICE AND TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE NOT THE SAME SINCE MY VEHICLE'S SCDS SUPPOSEDLY DID NOT LEAK. HOW COULD I VERIFIED WHAT HE TOLD ME WAS TRUE WHEN HE WOULDN'T LET ME ENTER THE WORK BAY TO WATCH WHAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS DOING TO MY VEHICLE? ANDREW ADMITTED THAT THE ABS MODULE IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THEY HAD REPLACED SEVERAL MODULES DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MY VAN. BUT ANDREW SAID IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND WOULDN'T REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. IF FORD USED DEFECTIVE PARTS SUCH AS THE ABS MODULE, THEN FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE ABS MODULE AND RECALL IT BEFORE A LIFE IS LOST! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO ACE FORD IN WOODBURY , NJ AS PART OF A SERIES OF RECALLS. THE 09S09 SPEED CONTROL CAMPAIGN WAS ONE AND THEY DID THE FIXES AS WELL AS THE REAR AXLE. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE I NOTICED MY ABS LIGHT WAS ON , MY ODOMETER HAS ALL DASHES , MY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON , MY SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AND MY O/D LIGHT BLINKS FAST CONSTANTLY. SERVICE WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME SO I DROVE IT HOME. UPON DRIVING EVERY BUMP I HIT IT FELT LIKE MY BACK END WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. I TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY ON MAY 21ST , 2014 AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ISSUES. THEY DID NOT SEAT MY REAR AXLE PROPERLY AND THEY SAY THEY FIXED IT. AS FOR MY DASHBOARD ISSUES , I WAS TOLD THAT THE 09S09 SPEED CONTROL WAS INSTALLED AND IT THEN MADE ANOTHER PART FAIL. THEY SAID (DEALER AND CORPORATE FORD) , THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT FOR FREE. I HAVE TO PAY $390 FOR THE PART AND THEN LABOR. I HAVE BEEN IN TALKS WITH FORD TO NO AVAIL. I DID SOME MINIMAL RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. FORD WILL NOT REPLACE THE PART. *TR
ABS WARNING LIGHT IS ON WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. RESETS WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF BUT COMES BACK ON ONCE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. *TR
THE REAR AXLE BROKE INTO WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED. *JS
I LOST CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS DRIVING I HIT A POTHOLE AND MY CAR WHEN ITS OWN WAY I WAS COMING HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL FROM JUST GIVING BIRTH TWO DAY EARLIER AND I KEPT HEARING A WEIRD NOISE SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. *TR
ALL OF THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED AT THE SAME TIME: ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON AND STAY ON. O/D LIGHT FLASHING. ODOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER STOP WORKING. THE ELECTRONIC COMPASS, REMAINING FUEL INFO., AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTIC AND ELECTRONIC TEMP. SHOWING ERRORS. ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN UNLESS ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. POWER WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING 6 MONTHS AGO, NOT SURE IF IT IS RELATED. I HAD A MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND CHECKED THE BRAKES. IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS MODULE COULD BE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY REPLACED A LOT OF THEM. THE ABS MODULE SUPPOSEDLY MESSING UP THE WHOLE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. IT HAS LESS THAN 65,000 MILES AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM MIGHT SUDDENLY CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOORS ALREADY WOULD NOT OPEN UNLESS THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR A CRASH, SOMEONE MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT AND BE TRAPPED INSIDE BECAUSE THE DOORS AND WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN. I WAS TOLD BY A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THERE IS NO RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR LOOK INTO IT EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED THEY'VE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS TO A LOT OF FORD VEHICLES. *TR
CAR BOUGHT IN MARCH 2014 FROM USED CAR DEALERSHIP. ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON IN MAY. MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ECM AND GETTING IT REPLACED IS COSTLY. IF I CHOSE TO REPLACE IT, THE ISSUE MAY OCCUR AGAIN BECAUSE FORD HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE ON THE ACTUAL PART. BRAKE FAILURE CONCERNS ME BECAUSE I HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OF AGE IN THE CAR WITH ME MOST OF THE TIME. THIS PAST WEEKEND, THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND WHEN I DECELERATED. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO STOP IT. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO RESOLVING THIS MAJOR PROBLEM ASAP, AS NO DRIVER SHOULD HAVE TO BE WORRIED THAT THEIR BRAKES WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY MOTHER THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN. THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF. BUT ABOUT TWO DAYS LATER THEY BOTH CAME ON AGAIN. NOW THEY COME ON AND OFF. *TR

FORD FOUND THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD A HOLE IN IT CAUSING THE AXLE TO SHIFT TO THE RIGHT. RECALL WORK WAS DONE A FEW YEARS AGO. THEY SAID IT WAS MY FAULT AND WOULD NOT PAY. ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON HOWEVER RESET WHEN RESTARTED. AS OF TODAY THEY DON'T GO OFF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT COME AN STAY ON. *TR
THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON JUST TWO WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED MY WINDSTAR. THEY WOULD COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY ECU MASTER RELAY WHICH COST ME ALMOST $1000 DOLLARS. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AGAIN I TOOK IT BACK THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT MAYBE THE PART WAS FAULTY AND HE WOULD PROVIDE ME ANOTHER. TO WHICH I ASKED FOR A REFUND BECAUSE THAT WAS A BRAND NEW PART IT HAS TO BE MORE THEN THE PART. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ABS POWER RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON AFTER RUNNING ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER THAT THE CAR DID NOT START. BROUGHT IT TO REPAIR SHOP TO SCAN AND LEARNED THAT ABS SYSTEM PROBLEM THAT MIGHT PREVENT STARTING SYSTEM FUNCTION. *TR
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES ON RT 95 THROUGH BOSTON MA TO VISIT FAMILY - I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS DRIVING ERRATIC, I WRONGLY ATTRIBUTED IT TO IT BEING A WINDY DAY - WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME WE CHECKED THE CAR FOR POSSIBLE PROBLEM - THAT IS WHEN MY WIFE NOTICED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE LEANING INWARD - I SLID UNDER THE REAR OF THE CAR AND NOTED THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD CRACKED - USING MY WIFE'S CAR I WENT TO THE FORD GARAGE AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM - THE SERVICE MANAGER ASKED ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD EVALUATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING AT THE CAR THEY TOLD ME IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS A RESULT OF A CRACKED AXLE - BY THIS TIME I HAD DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT FORD HAD RECALLED THAT PARTICULAR CAR FOR A CRACKED AXLE - I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE RECALL - HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH RECALL - I THEN RETURNED HOME AND EMAILED THE SERVICE MANAGER A COPY OF THE FORD CORPORATION RECALL SAFETY NOTICE 10S13 - THEY CONTACTED ME THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY (WINDSTAR SAFETY RECALL 10S13) WOULD COVER THE PART BUT NOT THE LABOR BECAUSE FORD CORPORATION HAD ALREADY FIXED MY CAR UNDER THAT PARTICULAR RECALL - AND THEY WERE DOING A GOOD WILL GESTURE BY PAYING FOR THE PART. THE BILL FOR THE LABOR WAS $450.00. PLUS A LONER CAR WAS REFUSED AS THE CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE LAST PARAGRAPH OF THE (WINDSTAR SAFETY RECALL 10S13) STATES - FORD DEALERS AT NO CHARGE TO CUSTOMERS WILL REINFORCE THE AXLES OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AS PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. IF IT IS DETERMINED THE AXLE CAN'T BE REINFORCED, IT WILL BE REPLACED AS SOON AS PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. FORD WILL PROVIDE FOR RENTAL VEHICLES FOR CUSTOMERS UNTIL THE REAR AXLE OF THEIR VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPLACED. I DON'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO TURN - I WAS HOPING YOUR ORGANIZATION COULD SEND A NOTICE TO HAMPTON FORD HYUNDAI IN NORTH HAMPTON NH AND ASK THEM TO HONOR THE RECALL...UPDATED 06/04/2014 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRACKETS WERE NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE AXLE AND SUGGESTED THE DEALER PAY FOR THE LABOR. THE DEALER CHOSE TO BILL THE CONSUMER FOR THE LABOR COST. UPDATED 06/09/2014 *JS

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE OVER A CURB AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE SCV SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 234,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BRAKING DISTANCE SUDDENLY INCREASED. MY ABS LIGHT AND TRAC OFF LIGHTS ON. DURING DRIVING MY TRACTION CONTROL WILL COME ON AS I BRAKE ON DRY PAVEMENT, I ALMOST WASNT ABLE TO STOP. THE MECHANIC SAID MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS LEAKING ( THAT HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN FIXED) BUT THAT WANT CAUSING IT. I WILL HAVE TO BUY A ABS MODULE. IT IS PARKED RIGHT NOW DUE TO SCARED TO DRIVE WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND I'M A SINGLE MOM AND CAN'T AFFORD THE MODULE.

UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,500. UPDATED 04/13/15*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S AXLE SUPPORT IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO RUSTING AS WELL. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IF NHTSA ISSUED A SECOND RECALL. THE CONSUMER COMPLETED THE REPAIRS HIMSELF. UPDATED 11/12/2015 *JS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I HEARD A LOUD POP LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW TO SEE THAT MY BACK WINDSHIELD BLEW OUT. IT LITERALLY BLEW UP EVEN THE OUTSIDE EDGES WERE JAGGED. UPON RESEARCHING THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS STATING TO BECOME A PROBLEM WITH OTHER WINDSTAR OWNERS. *TR
ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATES AFTER DRIVING FORWARD 150 YARDS. HEAVILY SALTED CHICAGO STREETS HAVE CAUSED CORROSION UNDER CAR. SUSPECT ABS FAILURE DUE TO SALT AND WATER CORROSION IN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. HIGH AMPERAGE ABS ELECTRICAL WIRES COULD SHORT- OUT AND CAUSE A FIRE; AN ENVIRONMENTAL, POLLUTION AND SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
USED THE VEHICLE TO GO ON A TRIP ABOUT 200 MILES FROM HOME, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS WORKING BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN I GOT BACK HOME AND PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, WHEN I WENT TO GO BACK OUT IN THE VAN ON ANOTHER SHORT TRIP AND GOT ON THE INTERSTATE THE CRUISE WOULDN'T WORK AGAIN. THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME WHEN BEFORE THE CRUISE STOPPED WORKING IT WAS ONLY INTERMITTENT. NOW THE LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME AND THE CRUISE ISN'T WORKING AT ALL. THE VAN HAD THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON INTERMITTENTLY SINCE PURCHASED BY MY PARENTS IN JULY 2003. PARENTS WERE TOLD BY DEALER THAT THERE IS NO MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND IGNORE THE LIGHTS. THERE HAVE BEEN NO INCIDENTS, LUCKILY THEY HAD NO EMERGENCY TO AVOID BY HARD BRAKING. NOW, AS I PREPARE TO SELL THE VEHICLE, I DID SOME BASIC RESEARCH INTO THE ISSUE AND FOUND MANY REFERENCES TO REPORT IT HERE AND AN OPTION FOR A RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE FIX, TO REBUILD THE ABS ECM MODULE DUE TO LOOSE OR POOR SOLDER JOINTS ON THE ELECTRONICS BOARD. HOPEFULLY ENOUGH REPORTS WILL GET THIS RECALLED PROPERLY TO AVOID ANY INCIDENTS FOR OTHERS.

DRIVING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY VIA SERVICE RAMP I FELT THE VAN SHIFT TO THE RIGHT AS I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. LANE I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO WAS TO MY LEFT. SEEMED AS IF SOMETHING WERE TERRIBLY WRONG. I CONTINUED DRIVING, BUT CAUTIOUSLY. DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR THE NEXT WEEK, YET NOT VERY FREQUENTLY. THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY, I WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SERVICEMAN NOTICED THAT MY BACK DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS TILTED INWARD AND THEN SAID THE RIGHT SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS TOO, JUST NOT AS MUCH AS THE LEFT SIDE. HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT MY AXLE LOOKED CRACKED AND THAT MY SHOCK WAS TOTALLY CORRODED AND STUCK. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE VAN TO OUR TRUSTED MECHANIC, WHO INSPECTED THE VAN. HE SAID THAT MY REAR AXLE WAS TOTALLY CORRODED AND CRACKED UNDERNEATH THE "BAND-AID" BRACKET THAT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN IMLAY CITY, MI HAD PUT THERE WHEN I HAD ORIGINALLY HAD TAKEN THE VAN IN FOR THE REAR AXLE RECALL BACK ON 2/11/11. HE SAID TO CONTACT THEM ABOUT IT. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER NAMED NICK ON 11/11/13. I SPOKE TO HIM BRIEFLY AND EXPLAINED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS CRACKED. HE SAID HE WOULD MAKE SOME CALLS AND GET BACK TO ME. HE NEVER DID. I ATTEMPTED THROUGHOUT THAT DAY TO GET A HOLD OF HIM, HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. LATER MY HUSBAND TRIED TO CALL HIM. INSTEAD A WOMAN ANSWERED AND SAID SHE WORKED IN WARRANTY DIVISION. SHE STATED WE CALL FORD CUSTOMER COMPLAINT CTR. WE CALLED THERE AND SPOKE TO A MAN NAMED AUSTIN. HE SAID A DECISION WOULD BE MADE BY FRIDAY, 11/15/13 AND THAT SERVICE MANAGER IN IMLAY CITY OR REGIONAL MANAGER WOULD CALL US. NO ONE DID. WE ATTEMPTED TO CALL DEALER 11/15/13. FOR OVER AN HOUR ALL LINES WERE BUSY. WE THEN CALLED CUSTOMER COMPLAINT CENTER FOR FORD. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THEIR RECORDS SHOWED THAT DEALER CALLED US 11/12/13 WITH DECISION TO NOT HELP. THAT IS COMPLETELY FALSE! NO ONE CALLED US REGARDING THE MATTER, PERIOD! *TR

AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE REAR CONTROL MODULE. I TRIED TO PURCHASE ONE FROM SEVERAL FORD DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS OBSOLETE AND NO ONE HAD ANY. I WAS TOLD TO TRY TO PURCHASE ONE FROM A JUNK YARD. I PURCHASED ONE AND HAD TO HAVE IT PROGRAMMED, AFTER HAVING IT PROGRAMMED I STILL DO NOT HAVE REAR HEAT/AC KEYPAD ENTRY OR POWER SLIDING DOORS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO TEST THE MODULE. WITH SO MANY SYSTEMS, ESPECIALLY REAR LIGHTS(TAIL,BRAKE, TURN AND REVERSE) DEPENDING ON ONE PART THAT IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR MORE THAN 11 YEARS.
THE ABS, TRACK OFF, BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS, AND CHECK TRACTION CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE. THEY REMAIN ON UNTIL THE KEY IS TURNED OFF, AND THEN RESET. THE FREQUENCY IS INTERMITTENT AND NOT MEASURABLE. INITIAL CHECKS HAVE NO RESULTS AS THE LIGHTS ARE OUT WHEN CHECKED BY A REPAIR SHOP. *TR
