MY MOTHER PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE USING THE ASSISTANCE HANDLE IN 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE ASSISTANCE HANDLE BROKE OFF INJURING (SLIGHT LIGAMENT TEAR) TO MY MOTHER (76 YEARS OLD). SURGERY PROBABLE. TAKEN TO DEALER AND ASSISTANCE HANDLE REPLACED. CALLED [XXX] AT GM TO FILE COMPLAINT ON THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2005--WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS COMPLAINT--HAVEN'T HEARD A THING. [XXX]NUMBER IS [XXX]. DT: CONSUMER STATES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON HIS VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TO A SERVICE DEALER. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SPECIFIC YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE, BUT HIS VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. *TT
OUR ENVOY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN OUR ENVOY WOULD NOT GO PAST SECOND GEAR. WE TOOK TO GMC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY STATED THAT THE UPPER COOLANT LINE HAD BEEN TOUCHING CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND CAUSED ALL FLUID TO LEAK OUT CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL . WE SAW NO FLUIDS IN DRIVEWAY OR SMELLED ANY STRANGE ODORS.
INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY IGNITION SWITCH FAILURES. IN APRIL 2004 AT 15,000 MILES AND AGAIN IN APRIL 2005 AT 33,000 MILES, THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2003 ENVOY XL FAILED. THE SYMPTOMS IN EACH CASE WERE ABS/BRAKE/TRACTION LIGHTS STAYING ON, NO HVAC FAN, AND NO CRUISE CONTROL. THE SYMPTOMS OCCURRED ONCE EVERY DOZEN STARTS, AND FINALLY REACHED A HARD FAIL.*AK IN EACH CASE, THE DEALER MECHANIC IDENTIFIED CODES SET FOR MULTIPLE SYSTEMS AND REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. WITH THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, THE MECHANIC COMMENTED THAT THEY REPLACE QUITE A FEW OF THESE SWITCHES.
COMPLAINT REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION ON 2003 GMC ENVOY XL. *MR *SC *TT
DRIVER APPLIED THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE TURN SIGNAL FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WOULD COME AND OFF ON ITS OWN. DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

2003 GENERAL MOTORS GMC ENVOY XL DID NOT PROVIDE SUFFICIENT BRAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE STRONGLY APPLIED IN A LOW SPEED (10-15 MPH) SUDDEN STOP RESULTING IN A MINOR FRONT END COLLISION WITH THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STRONGLY APPLIED, THE VEHICLE TOOK MORE DISTANCE TO STOP THEN EXPECTED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, BUT DEALERSHIP DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE FINDING ANY PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE ADEQUATE STOPPING POWER IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. *JB
CONSUMER RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V046000 CONCERNING VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER. SINCE ABOUT A WEEK AGO CONSUMER MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE BUT DEALER HAS NOT HAD PARTS AVAILABLE. *AK
SAFETY PROBLEM REGARDING CONTROL OF DRIVER'S REAR VIEW MIRROR ON 2003 GMC ENVOY. *BF THERE HAD BEEN A STRANGE COMBINATION OF ELECTRICAL EVENTS CENTERED AROUND THE ACCESSORIES IN THE LEFT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE LEFT DOOR MIRROR. OTHER PROBLEMS: THE SEAT WOULD MOVE ERRATICALLY WHEN STARTING AND SHUTTING DOWN, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DID NOT LOCK IN SYNC WITH THE OTHERS, THE LOCKS WOULD CLICK 4 TIMES AFTER DRIVING ONE MILE, AND THE CONTROL BUTTON LIGHTS ON THE DRIVERS ARM REST WAS COMING OFF. *SC *JB
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, LETTING IT WARM, THE CONSUMER ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH , THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DO 10 MPH. THE CONSUMER WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED SINCE THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. *NM WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS COLD, THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE TOTAL SPEED. *SC *JB
EVERY TIME YOU EXIT THE VEHICLE AND CLOSE THE DOOR OR TOUCH ANY THING THAT IS METAL AFTER EXITING THE CAR YOU GET SHOCKED....SPARKS FLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT SOMEDAY I WILL BE PUMPING GAS AND ONE OF MY CHILDREN IS GOING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND TOUCH SOMETHING AND SPARK AN EXPLOSION OR FIRE. *NM
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE OWNER SAYS THAT THE LIGHT FOR SERVICING COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICING ON 9 OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS ALL ABOUT. *JB THE DIAGNOSIS ARE AS FOLLOWED: ON THREE OCCASIONS NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND, THERE WERE THREE TRANSFER CASE REPAIRS, THERE WAS A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH FOUND RELATED, WIRING HAD TO BE REPLACED AND A VDB WAS INSTALLED. *SC
WHEN REACHING A STOP SIGN CONSUMER APPLIED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES, INSTEAD OF VEHICLE COMING TO A STOP, IT ACCELERATED AND RAN ONTO TWO CURBS, FINALLY CRASHING INTO A PLAY GROUND. *AK
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I SMELLED GAS. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A CRACK BETWEEN GAS TANK AND THE FILLER NECK. THE FUEL TANK WAS NEVER WORK ON OR REMOVED BEFORE. BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE EXTEND WARRANTY AND HAD 56,00 MILE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A RARE THING BUT THEY ARE STILL NOT WANTING TO ASSIST ME IN THE REPAIR WHICH WILL COST A $1,000.*AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AT 35 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WILL NOTIFY MANUFACTURER.*AK....POLICE REPORT INCLUDED
THE CONSUMER WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INTAKE WHICH WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME DEFECT, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THERE WAS NO HELP GIVEN TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *AK THE RPM'S WOULD DROP WHILE APPLYING GAS, WITHIN 2-3 SECONDS, THE MPH DROPPED TO 30-40 MPH WITH NO WARNING. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED 2-3 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH OTHER VEHICLES DRIVING BEHIND HIM. *SC
THERE IS A FUELING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT HAPPENS REGULARLY ENOUGH (30% TO 40% OF THE TIME) TO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD OR CAUSE SERIOUS PHYSICAL HAZARD TO THE OPERATOR. THE VEHICLE ON OCCASION WILL NOT ACCEPT GAS INTO THE FUEL TANK AND THEN WILL IMMEDIATELY CUT OFF THE FUEL SUPPLY AND THEN BACK UP AND SPLASH FUEL OUT ONTO THE OPERATOR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE. IT MAY TAKE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE TANK WILL ACCEPT THE FUEL, ALL THE WHILE SPLASHING FUEL OUT OF THE FILLER ON EACH ATTEMPT. ON OTHER OCCASIONS, THE TANK, AS IT APPROACHES FULL, WILL JUST SPLASH GAS OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY INDICATION WITHOUT CUTTING OFF THE GAS PUMP FILL HOSE AS IT NORMALLY WOULD. THIS CONDITION CAN BE A SERIOUS PHYSICAL AND HEALTH HAZARD TO THE OPERATOR SINCE GAS GETS ON THE SKIN AND THE CLOTHS OF THE OPERATOR, CAUSING A BURNING SENSATION AND SUBJECTING THE OPERATOR TO OTHER SAFETY CONCERNS. THE FUEL SPILL CAN ALSO BE CONSIDERED AN ENVIRONMENTAL AND FIRE HAZARD. A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT GAS PUMPS AND GAS STATIONS HAVE BEEN TRIED WITH THE SAME RESULTS DURING FUELING. THIS WOULD RULE OUT A PROBLEM WITH ONE PUMP OR FILLING STATION CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS EVEN OCCURRED IN DIFFERENT CITIES. *JB
RECALL 04V046000/WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY: AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THIS REPAIR WASHER FLUID FAILED TO OPERATE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND LEARNED THAT THE DEALER FAILED TO REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER BEING STRUCK IN A SERIOUS FRONT END COLLISION. *BF *SC
RECALL 04V046000/WINDSHIELD WIPER VISIBILITY. OWNER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR THIS RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN OCTOBER, 2004. OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND HAD A SEALER KIT INSTALLED WHICH WAS A PATCH TO COVER A HOLE FOR THE WINDSHIELD MOTOR. CORROSION GOT INSIDE BECAUSE OF THE WATER LEAKING INTO THE MOTOR. BECAUSE OF THE LEAKING WATER IT CAUSED THE P.C. BOARD TO SHORT OUT. NOW THE MOTOR IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION. *AK.....*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT TAIL LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONING. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER COULD HEAR THE AIR COMING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AIR TIGHT. *AK
1) SEQUENCE OF EVENTS - NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN WE TRY TO START. -BATTERY VOLTAGE OK, AUTO-HEADLIGHTS ON, BRIGHT - INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPLETELY DEAD -2 HOURS LATER, INSTRUMENT ON THE MILES PER HOUR INSTRUMENT IS GOING WILD, BACK AND FORTH FINALLY SETS AT ZERO, NOW ENGINE WILL START. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON FOR THE FIRST TIME - RADIO LOOSES PRESET STATION MEMORY 2) IT STARTED ABOUT A WEEK; WE HAD PROBLEMS STARTING THE WARM ENGINE. 3) AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL IS WORKING SORT OF, SOMETIME NOT 4) THE CHECK OIL CAME ON, AT THAT TIME THERE WAS PLENTY 5) THE BACKUP MIRROR OPTION IS ALWAYS LOOSING THE INPUT 6) TRANSMISSION PROBLEM LIGHT WAS ON FOR A DAY SOME TIME AGO WHILE DRIVING IN SB AND IN 2 WD, CALLED YOUR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO IGNORE THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, A SUPERFICIAL FIX AS IT TURNED OUT LATER WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT IDENTIFIED. *NM
OUR 2003 GMC ENOVY XL HAS JUST HAD THE GAS TANK REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO CRACKING OF THE PLASTIC TANK. THIS OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW IS HAPPENING BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK NECK AND THE FUEL TANK. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A GAS SMELL. THE VEHICLE WASN'T ACCELERATING AS IT SHOULD.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. MOTOR REQUIRED SEALING OR REPLACEMENT. *BF THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, HOWEVER IT TOOK ONE MONTH TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. WHEN THE CONSUMER DID DROP OFF THE VEHICLE HE WA ASSURED THE VEHICLE WOULD BE READY BY THE END OF BUSHINESS. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A PHONE FROM THE DEALER STATING THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN LOOKED AT. THE CONSUMER STATED A 15 MINUTE INSPECTION AND POSSIBLY AN ADDITIONAL 15 MINUTES IT THE MOTOR REQUIRED SEALING OR REPLACEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTRA DAY THE DEALER NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. *JB
CONSUMER STATED THE ROTORS AND BRAKES WERE RUSTED. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
THE ROTORS ON OUR 2003 GMC ENVOY COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT, TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY COULD NOT EVEN BE TURNED, 13 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF THE BRAKE PADS STILL UNUSED. WE HAD TO REPLACE ALL ROTORS AND PADS, AS THE ROTORS SCORED THE PADS.
VARIOUS PROBLEMS WITH 2003 GMC ENVOY. *MR THE WAS A "PINGING," ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW AND THE STEERING GEAR HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE, THE DRIVERS DOOR MADE A RATTLING NOISE ALONG WITH HOOD RATTLING. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OFF, LEAVING ONLY THE RIM ATTACHED TO THE SPINDLE. SPARKS IGNITED WHEN THE RIM CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE CONCRETE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, AND ALLOWED IT TO COAST TO A STOP. *AKI
MICHELIN, P245/65R17, DOT# M3KTD2CX3002. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND THE TIRE BLEW OUT. PIECES BLEW ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. CONSUMER PULLED OVER TO THE LEFT LANE AND SOUGHT HELP. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT WITHOUT WARNING. *NM THE TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE RIM AND HIT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE. THE RIM WAS ALSO DAMAGED DURING THE BLOWOUT. *NM
CONSUMER STATES: HAVE A RECALL FOR TAIL LAMPS/STOP LAMPS BOTTOM LIGHTS , THEY WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER, THE TOP LAMPS ARE BAD ALSO. IT WAS INTERMITTENT SOMETIMES THE TOP LAMP WOULD WORK AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. *NM
WHILE DRIVING ON RAINY DAYS DOORS LEAK WATER ONTO THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. HOWEVER, DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
2003 ENVOY SLT---WHILE FILLING GAS TANK, NOZZLE KEEPS CLICKING OFF, THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I GET GAS, REMEDY, TURN GAS NOZZLE UPSIDE DOWN,BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP ONCE, MALOUF, NORTH BRUNSWICK SAYS NOTHING WRONG, WILL BRING BACK AGAIN. ALSO, WHEN STARTING OR TURNING OFF VEHICLE I GET A STRONG ODOR OF GAS, WILL BRING TO DEALERSHIP ATTENTION. *AK
THE CONSUMER INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT FAILED, THE PASSENGER WAS EJECTED FROM THE SEAT AND WAS KILLED. THE SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG EFFECTIVENESS WAS QUESTIONABLE. *AK *SC THIS COMPLAINT WAS NOT FILED BY THE CONSUMER. ODI FOLLOWED UP WITH THE PERSONAL INFORMATION PROVIDED AND THE CONSUMER WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS COMPLAINT. THE CONSUMER WHO WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WAS JUST RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL. THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS KILLED IN THE CRASH AND COULD NOT REMEMBER THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT. CW POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED BY ODI. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 68 MPH. MULTIPLE ROLLOVER. SEAT BELT ON PASS SIDE BUCKLED AFTER CRASH WITH SOME LOAD MARKS ON THE WEBBING. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TORE FROM THE HINGE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. OFFICER INVESTIGATING CRASH DID NOT THINK A VEHICLE DEFECT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FATALITY. CRASH EXTREMEMLY SEVERE.
REAR HATCH STRUTS ON 2003 GMC ENVOY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. DOOR COULD HAVE FALLEN AND INJURED FAMILY MEMBERS. IT IS TOO HEAVY TO LIFT. DEALER SAID PART WAS ON 7 DAY BACKORDER. *JB
DT: AFTER THE OWNER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES FELT BUMPY. THE OWNER REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. THEN, THE BACK ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT. THE OWNER DESCRIBES THEM AS A GRABBING FEELING, THE VEHICLE PHYSICALLY MOVES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. WHEN THE BACK RIGHT ROTOR WAS INSPECTED THERE WERE GROOVES. THE PAD HAD EATEN INTO THE ROTOR ON THE REAR AND FRONT. ALL THE BRAKES RUSTED. *AK *JB
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD WIPERS.*MR THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT EVERYTIME THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE USED, THEY WOULD BOUNCE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD SO MUCH THAT THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SEE AND IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE USED, THE CONSUMER HAD TO KEEP TURNING THEM ON AND OFF TO SEE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES TO HAVE THE WIPERS ADJUSTED AND REPLACED. THE LAST TIME HOWEVER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A BOW IN THE WINDSHIELD AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER HAVING THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. THERE WAS A FILM ON THE WINDSHIELD AND WHEN THE WIPERS WERE USED, THE CONSUMER COULD NOT SEE PROPERLY. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE 4WD/A4WD LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN 4WD AND THEN ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE REAR WIPERS FAILED AND THE DEALER FOUND A NUT LOOSE AND THE FRONT WASHER HOSE DID NOT WORK AND THERE WAS A KINK IN IT. THERE WAS NOISE COMING FROM THE WINDOWS, ALTHOUGH THE DEALER SAID IT WAS COMING FROM THE MIRRORS. *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 25 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. *SC
IN FOUR DIFFERENT CASES ON MY 2003 GMC ENVOY THE REAR DOOR LATCH MECHANISMS FAILED TO WORK. IN AT LEAST ONE CASE THE LEFT REAR DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM EITHER THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. THE LEFT REAR DOOR HAS STUCK BUT NEVER FAILED TO OPEN, ALTHOUGH IT IS A FIGHT TO DO SO. THE LAST TIME I RETURNED THE CAR THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE LATCH ASSEMBLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE, WITH THE DEALER TELLING ME THEY HAVE NEVER HAD COMPLAINTS. I FOUND THIS TO BE UNTRUE AS CONVERSATIONS WITH MANY OWNERS OF THE GMC ENVOY AND CHEV. TRAILBLAZER HAVE SEEN THE SAME THING. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY IF THE REAR DOORS DON'T WORK HOW DO WE GET OUR CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE INOPERATIVE. RECALL 04V046000 FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, DEALERSHIP WAS UNSURE IF THIS VEHICLE'S VIN NUMBER WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE CONSUMER'S NOTIFICATION WAS DUE TO BEGIN IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2004. THEREFORE, DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPAIR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS.*AK
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED WITH THE COOLANT LINES NEXT TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE FUEL LINE RUPTURED IN SEVERAL PLACES AND SPRAYED COOLANT ON THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE ,AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *AK
WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR, CAUSING IT TO STRIKE A ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR. CONSUMER SUSTAINED TORN LIGAMENTS IN THE NECK. REAR MIDDLE SEAT POSITION SEAT BELT HOLDING A CSS BECAME DETACHED ALMOST DISLODGING THE CSS WHICH WAS ANCHORED AT THE TOP BY A TETHER STRAP ATTACHED TO THE SEAT. *AK THE LATCH PLATE CAME OUT OF THE BUCKLE. SON CAN NOT REACH THE BUCKLE WHEN SEAT IN THE CSS. VEHICLE NOT TOTALED IN THE CRASH. ESTIMATED SPEED AT IMPACT WAS 30 MPH. JUST MINOR DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER AND HATCH. STRIKING VEHICLE UNDER ROAD THE ENVOY. DEALER INSPECTED BUCKLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE OF A POSSIBLE FALSE LATCHING.CW
THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY IN VERY SERIOUS SIDE COLLISION. *AK *NM
CONSUMER COMPLAINED THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH HOT AIR TO WARM UP THE SECOND AND THIRD RAW BACKS SEATS. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED WE WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
THE CONSUMER SMELLED GAS, TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND THE FUEL RAIL WAS REPLACED. LATER GAS WAS SMELLED AGAIN, THERE WAS A VAPOR EMISSION LEAK. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL TANK IS BEING REPLACED TWICE. *NM
MY WIFE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH OUR NEW 2003 GMC ENVOY SLT, PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER OF 2003. TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER, SHE SWERVED THE ENVOY OFF OF THE ROAD, DOWN A HILL AND AND HIT A TREE IN THE RIGHT FRONT OR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SHE HIT THE TREE WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS. MY CONCERN IS THE AIR BAGS NEVER NEVER DEPLOYED IN THIS ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY? AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE INFORMATION AS TO THE OPERATION OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IN A GMC ENVOY.*AK

A PERSISTENT HIGH PITCHED RATTLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE FRONT SUSPENSION PROBLEM. AFTER MONTHS OF SEARCHING BY ACCIDENT DISCOVERED IT WAS THE FRONT HOOD LATCH. GREASED IT AND PROBLEM HAS SUBSIDED. NEIGHBOR WITH 2003 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
