I WAS IN A CENTER FRONTAL IMPACT ACCIDENT AT 35-40 MPH WITH A VEHICLE THAT PULLED IN FRONT OF ME (T-BONE ACCIDENT) AND MY AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES ON THE 2003 ENVOY. *MR THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED THE BRAKE DID NOT HOLD AND THE VEHICLE HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF HIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE CONTROL MODULE BUT IT COULD NOT BE REPROGRAMMED. THE TECHNICIAN WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WAS A DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THEY OPERATED WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. *SCC *NLM
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE EQUIPMENT ON 2003 ENVOY. *MR WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH CONSUMER PUT FOOT ON BRAKES AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP CAUSE VEHICLE TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT. *CB
PROBLEMS WITH THE SOFTWARE. DRIVER 1 AND 2 REMOTES DONT ALWAYS WORK. MIRRORS CHANGE BY JUST UNLOCKING. SOMETIMES THE ELECTRIC SEAT RELEASE PUTS THE SEAT INTO DRIVER 2 POSITION. TRANSFER CASE ON OCCASION, ALL LIGHTS START TO BLINK AND YOU CAN HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE SWITCHING.*AK
AIR CONDITIONER INTERMITENTLLY BLOWS WARM AIR. THIS AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE HAS BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO THE TWO DEALERS I HAVE MY 2003 GMC ENVOY SERVICED: BECK & MASTEN AND CHAMPION PONTIAC GMC. THE DEALERS SAID THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD SWITCH THAT THEY REPLACED EACH TIME I COMPLAIN OF THE AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE. *AK
THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NOT WORKING. THE ODOMETER DID NOT SHOW A READING. THE SIDE MIRRORS MOVED ON THEIR OWN. *JB THE RADIO WAS INOPERATIVE, THERE WERE PROBLEM WITH ON STAR, THE A/C FREON WAS GOING INTO THE VEHICLES INTERIOR, FUEL LEAKED FROM THE TANK AND HAD RUN DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE/DOOR, THE BELL LIGHT AND MESSAGE WARNED LOW FUEL WHEN THE TANK WAS AT IT'S CAPACITY, THE LIFTGATE WOULD NOT LATCH. *SC
WIND NOISE COMING THROUGH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS. MOLDING WAS REPLACED AND NOISE WASN'T REDUCED. DEALER STATED, GM KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND SEEM TO BELIEVE THAT THE MIRRORS ARE CAUSING WIND TO BE REDIRECTED TO THE WINDOW. THEREFORE WIND IS COMING THROUGH WHERE THE GLASS GOES INSIDE THE DOOR. NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS CAR, CAN'T EVEN DRIVE WITH THE RADIO TURNED DOWN. ALSO THE LOW-PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WAS REPLACED, AFTER A HALF-POUND OF FREON WAS REQUIRED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES!!! *JB
GMC ENVOY, 2003. COMPLAINT: REAR CENTER SEAT/SHOULDER BELT LOCKS UP 100% OF THE TIME. BECAUSE OF THIS ANYONE WEARING IT IS "PINNED" AGAINST THE SEAT. THAT IS, THERE IS NO MOVEMENT ALLOWED - YOU CANNOT LEAN FOREWARD. THIS SITUATION MAKES THE BACK CENTER POSITION BELT UN-USABLE. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER, (AND THEY AGREE THAT IT IS UN-WEARABLE), BUT SAY THAT THERE IS NO FIX. THEY ALSO SHOWED ME THAT THE SAME SITUATION CAN BE FOUND ON OTHER ENVOYS ON THEIR LOT. I FREQUENTLY CARRY 5 PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE IT'S DANGERIOUS HAVE ONE OF THE SEATING POSITONS WITH AN UN-WEARABLE SEAT/SHOULDER BELT.
I OWN A 2003 GMC ENVOY XL AND WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEAR A LOT OF WIND NOISE, WHILE THE WINDOWS ARE CLOSED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. *JB
THE 2003 ENVOY WE PURCHASED GAVE US NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, INCLUDING A NUMBER OF THE ONES OTHER OWNERS MENTIONED HERE, LIKE THE GLASS LIFTGATE THAT DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY, VARIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, BUT ESPECIALLY THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS THAT MOVE ON THEIR OWN NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THEY WERE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY SERVICE TECHNICIANS. THEY DO NOT STAY IN THE POSITION WE SET THEM IN, AND THE FUEL TANK LEAKING IS VERY DANGEROUS AS WELL AS INHALING FREON BECAUSE OF MALFUNCTIONING A/C SYSTEM. WHY IS GMC DOING NOTHING TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS? I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS SEEING THAT SO MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET SOME HELP?*AK
2003 GMC ENVOY HIGH ENGINE IDLE WHEN SLOWING TO STOP ENGINE WILL NOT RETURN TO IDLE UNTIL ALMOST AT A STOP. WHEN SLOWING IF YOU DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WILL CONTINUE ON A FLAT ROAD AT 30TO 35 MPH.GM ANSWER TO THIS POINT IS THAT THEY ALL DO IT. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY CONCERN AND ON SLIPERY ROAD CCOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SKID NOT TO MENTION UNUSUAL BRAKE WEAR AND FUEL CONSUMPTION. THAKS SAM MCNEIL. *AK
PURCHASED A 2003 ENVOY XL ON 27 DEC 02 - SINCE THAT TIME IT HAS BEEN TO THE GARAGE TWO TIMES - NO CLAMP ON ONE END OF THE POWER STEERING LINE (LUCKILY IT BLEW OFF WHILE STILL IN OUR DRIVE WAY - GOD HELP US IF IT HAD LET LOOSE AT HIGH SPEED ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY) SECOND TIME WAS FOR A BAD CAM SENSOR. AND WE HAVEN'T MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT YET. FIRST CASS NUMBER FROM GMC IS S1-68773551 - SECOND CASE NUMBER I DON'T HAVE YET AS I JUST REPORTED IT THIS MORNING. NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT MY WIFE AND I HAVE NO TRUST IN THIS CAR NOW - WHAT ELSE WILL GO WRONG NEXT.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. DEALER CHECKED THIS PROBLEM ON THREE OCCASIONS. ON EACH OCCASION THE SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGED, AND THE BATTERY CABLE BOLT WAS REPLACED.*AK *NM
2003 GMC ENVOY WITH A LIST OF PROBLEMS **NAR**CC THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO HEAR A KNOCKING AND PINGING IN THE ENGINE ON COLD STARTS AND FELT A HESITATION WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO GEAR. AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS, IT WAS FINALLY DISCOVERED THE ENGINE KNOCK WAS DUE TO SHORTER PISTONS IN THE RE-DESIGNED ENGINE AND THE HESITATION IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING REQUIRED REPROGRAMMING. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HE WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE ENGINE KNOCK, BECAUSE IT COULD BE MORE TROUBLE TAKING THE ENGINE APART. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE ENGINE STALLED DUE TO THE BATTERY DYING. FROM APRIL 2004 TO OCTOBER 2004 THE BATTERY FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO BE RE-CHARGED. DURING THAT SAME TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND EACH TIME IT HAPPENED, THE DEALER WOULD HAVE TO REPROGRAM THE ENGINE COMPUTER. THE RADIO WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WHICH PRIMARILY CONSISTED OF STATIC. THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER CONTROL KNOBS AS WELL AS THE RADIO KNOBS WORE OUT. THE FRONT CENTER CONSOLE WAS LOOSE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON BECAUSE THE THIRD STOP LIGHT THAT'S ON THE TOP OF THE LIFTGATE MALFUNCTIONED. THERE WAS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE STOP LIGHT. THE COOLING FAN BROKE, THE BRAKES AND THE LEFT FRONT HEAD LAMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS, DIRECTIONAL AND SIGNAL LIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LUG NUT BROKE WHILE A REPLACEMENT TIRE WAS BEING MOUNTED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT STABILIZER LINKAGE WAS REPLACED. THE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL LINES AND A SEAL ON THE TANK DUE TO A LEAK. THE SEAT BELT WAS DESIGNED POORLY AND THE BELT CUTS INTO THE CONSUMERS NECK. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DIDN'T CLOSE PROPERLY, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED WITHIN THE FIRST 2 YEARS. *JB
NON FUNCTIONAL WIPER MOTOR THAT THE DEALERSHIP (TOBY WELLS, PINEHURST, NC) AS WELL AS OTHER LOCAL GM DEALERS (SILVESTRY, LAURINBURG, AND JOE BROWN, ROCKINGHAM) HAVE TOLD ME IS KNOWN BY GM, AND COMMON PROBLEM. EVEN WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE, IT STILL TOOK ALMOST 2 WEEKS BEFORE I COULD GET THE PROBLEM REPAIRED
PURCHASED 2003 GMC ENVOY SLT ON 11/30/2002. SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE OFF THE LOT. RETURNED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. DEALER SAID IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE IN THE SENSOR. ONE MONTH LATER SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. RETURNED IT TO DEALER, COULD NOT DETERMINE PROBLEM SO THEY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME. ALSO HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR WILL NOT STOP, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS THE WAY THE BRAKES FUNCTION ON THIS VEHICLE????? HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THE LIGHTS ON THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR WILL FLASH FROM 2HI ALL THE WAY TO 4 WHL DRIVE WITHOUT EVERY TOUCHING THE CONTROL. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE FOR THE COST AND UNFORTUNATELY HAVE A 4 YEAR LEASE. WILL NOT RECOMMEND OR PURCHASE ANOTHER GMC PRODUCT. *AK
I BOUGHT A 2003 ENVOY XL 11 DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. WE WENT INTO A RESTAURANT, CAME BACK OUT AFTER EATING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I WAS 150 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR, GET A RENTAL (WHICH WAS PAID FOR), AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP, WHICH THE DEALER STATED THEY HAD NEVER HAD HAPPEN BEFORE. I TOLD THE DEALER I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT CAR, BUT WAS TOLD THIS WAS A UNHEARD OF PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING FRONT SEAT BELTS GIVE TOO MUCH ATTENTION CROSS THE CHEST. TS. *AK
WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2003 GMC ENVOY WITH A THIRD ROW OF SEATS. IN THE MANUAL IT INDICATES THAT THERE ARE SEAT BELT ADJUSTERS ON THE BACK OF THE SEATS TO SHORTEN THE HEIGHT AT WHICH THE SEATBELT COMES ACROSS THE PASSENGER. THESE ADJUSTERS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN OUR CAR. WE NOTICED THIS ISSUE WHEN A CHILD SAT IN THE BACK SEAT (ONE OF THE REASONS FOR PURCHASING A 7 PASSENGER VEHICLE) AND THE SEATBELT CAME ACROSS THEIR FACE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO A DEALER ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT WE WERE CORRECT THE ADJUSTERS WERE NOT INSTALLED (A MANUFACTURER'S DEFAULT), BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO INSTALL THEM AT THIS POINT. WE NOW HAVE A BRAND NEW CAR THAT WE CANNOT USE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WE STRONGLY CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. I KNOW OF A COUPLE OF OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IF I CHILD (OR EVEN AN ADULT) WERE TO SIT IN THOSE SEATS WITHOUT ADJUSTING THE HEIGHT OF THE SEAT BELT IT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.*AK
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING A 65MPH WITH NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF TROUBLE. THE VEHICLE'S PCM FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT START. THE PCM WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AND REPROGRAMMED. *TR
WE PAID 30.000 THIS GMC ENVOY BECAUSE WE WANTED A CAR THAT WOULD RUN AND THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER SAID WE SHOULD ONLY HAVE TO PAY FOR UPKEEP AND MINOR REPAIRS. THAT IS A JOKE IF YOU BUY A GMC (PART NUMBER 26089516). *NM
I WAS STOPPED AT A DRIVE UP ATM AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED ONSTAR AND THEYASKED THAT I CHECK THE GAS CAP WHICH I DID. LATER THAT DAY WHILE PARKED ON A SLOPING DRIVEWAY FOR AN HOUR I FOUND GASOLINE LEAKED AND COVERED THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAUSE WAS A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK JUST BELOW THE FILLER NECK. I WAS OUT OF THE STATE; MY SON'S MECHANIC SAID THAT I CAN DRIVE HOME AS LONG AS THE TANK IS LESS THAN HALF FULL. NO PRIOR REPAIR ON THE FUEL TANK OR REQUIRED ITS REMOVAL. I CALLED GMC ANDWAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT THE PERSON (TRACY) THAT I SPOKE TO SAID THAT THIS HAS OCCURED TO A NUMBER OF VEHICLES GMC ENVOY XL 2003. MY DEALER EVEN STOCKS THE FUEL TANKS FOR THE VEHICLE.*AK

2003 GMC ENVOY. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS FUEL TANK LEAKING PROBLEM. *TGW A BULLETIN WAS ISSUED FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT THE CONSUMERS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING CONSUMER SMELLED A FUEL ODOR INSIDE VEHICLE. CONSUMER PULLED VEHICLE OVER, AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM UNDER VEHICLE . DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE, AND NOTICED FUEL LINE WAS DISCONNECTED.*AK
WHEN PUTTING GAS IN THE VEHICLE IT SPILLS OVER.*AK
WHILE STOPPED THE ENGINE RAN AT 900 RPM'S. AFTER THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED THE RPM'S CLIMBED TO 1100 AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL EMISSIONS CANISTER ONCE, AND RESET THE ELECTRICAL CODES, AND REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *NM
WHEN DRIVING TRANSMISSION KEPT SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. DEALER COULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE INTERMITTENTLY MALFUNCTIONED. DEALER INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAD NO REMEDY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55/60 MPH UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND UPON DEPRESSING OF BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWERVED AND FISHTAILED. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL, AND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE MEDIUM. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT JACK HANDLE IS TOO SHORT, CAUSING THE CONSUMERS BODY TO BE ALMOST UNDER THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING MPH AND WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKES PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHICH CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE RESULTING INTO A CRASH. *AK
THERE WAS A WIND NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. DEALER HASN'T CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *JB
WAS DRIVING APPROX. 60 MPH WHEN A SEMI DECIDED TO MOVE INTO MY LANE. I ASSUMED I WAS IN HIS BLIND SPOT SO I SPED UP TO BE IN FRONT OF HIM. WHEN HIS FRONT STARTED MOVING INTO MY LANE I MOVED OVER A TINY BIT ONTO THE BURM. I THEN TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT TO GET BACK INTO THE CENTER OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. JUST THEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED RESPONDING TO THE WHEELS AS THEY BEGAN SMALL BACK AND FORTH (LEFT AND RIGHT) JERKS. THE JERKS (WHEELS) BECAME LARGER, SWIRVING THE ENVOY BACK AND FORTH (LEFT AND RIGHT) WITHIN THE LANE. THIS MOVEMENT INCREASED TO WHERE THE CAR BEGAN TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL ACCROSS ALL LANES OF THE FREEWAY, LUCKELY STOPPING ALL BUSY FREEWAY TRAFFIC AROUND ME. THE WHEELS SEEMED TO BE SLIDING AROUND AS IF ON A SHEET OF ICE. I DID MY BEST TO CONTROL THE WHEEL TO AVOID GOING INTO THE DITCH BECAUSE THE ENVOY WAS SWIRVING SO MUCH IT MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE TIPPED OVER. THE ENVOY DID AT LEAST 5 COMPLETE DONUTS WHILE THE SEMI WAS HEADING TOWARDS ME. THE ENVOY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN DRIVE. I OPENED MY DOOR AND WAVED TO THE SEMI DRIVER. HE WAVED BACK TO TELL ME GOOD LUCK AND TO MOVE OUT OF THE BUSY FREEWAY IF I COULD. I PUT THE ENVOY IN "PARK" THEN IT STARTED BACK UP AND DROVE AWAY WITHOUT A SCRATCH ON IT. I BROUGHT THE ENVOY BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP "PRESTON" IMMEDIATELY AND THEY SAID THIS IS THE 2ND OR 3RD INCIDENT OF THE SAME NATURE. THERE WAS A ENVOY IN THEIR PARKING LOT THAT HAD BEEN ONLY GOING 35MPH AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN A FATALITY. I THOUGHT MY LIFE WAS OVER.
