EXTERIOR HEADLAMPS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING OCCASIONALLY. NOW I CAN NOT GET THEM TO COME BACK ON. *TR
MY GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN INACCURATELY GIVING THE PROPER FUEL LEVEL. TODAY I NOTICED THE GAUGE IS NOW STUCK WAY PAST THE "FULL" LEVEL" AND DOES NOT MOVE. *TR
FUEL LEAK COMING FROM TOP OF GAS TANK. I SUSPECT IT IS THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. SEVERE RUST AND LIMITED VISIBILITY PREVENTED ME FROM IDENTIFYING 100 PERCENT. TALKED TO GM, THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM BUT SINCE IT HAPPENED 14,000 MILES BEYOND THEIR EXTENDED SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR THIS, THEY WILL DO NOTHING. BAD DESIGN IS A BAD DESIGN REGARDLESS OF MILES OR YEARS. VERY DANGEROUS HAVING A LEAK THIS BAD. WILL FIX MYSELF WHEN I COME UP WITH THE MONEY. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN REAR OF VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS RIDING LOW. GOT OFF HIGHWAY AT NEXT EXIT TO CHECK BACK OF TRUCK. REAR OF TRUCK WAS SITTING LOW. TURNED TRUCK OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES, TURNED TRUCK BACK ON. THE REAR OF THE TRUCK DID NOT RISE. THIS CAN NOT BE SAFE FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM TO DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING. I HAD PREVIOUSLY NOTICED WHEN THE TRUCK IS FIRST TURNED ON THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WOULD ENGAGE AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WOULD RISE. *TR
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF A DISTINCT GAS ODOR BY THE VEHICLE. I HAD PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED A CAUTIONARY LETTER FROM GMC THAT THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP INVOLVING POOLING AND PITTING AND EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO TEN YEARS TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. THE INSPECTION AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE WAS A "FUEL LEAK FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AREA-FUEL PUMP MODULE LEAKING" THE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS SUFFICIENTLY CONCERNED TO OFFER ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIR WAS MADE. HE SAID THAT IF I WERE TO HIT SOMETHING AND CREATE A SPARK I COULD BE IN JEOPARDY. I WAS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT A STRAY CIGARETTE BUTT THROWN OUT A WINDOW. HE ALSO GAVE ME THE CUSTOMER ASSURANCE TELEPHONE NUMBER TO CALL TO FILE A CLAIM. I DID CALL THE NEXT MORNING AND INFORMATION WAS GIVEN AND I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD THAT THE "DISTRICT " WOULD CALL ME. WHEN I RECEIVED THE CALL FROM THAT OFFICE SHE TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL ME THE FOLLOWING DAY. TEN MINUTES LATER SHE CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT GM WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNEW THERE WAS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM OR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE SENT OUT WARNING LETTERS. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL CONSIDERING THE POTENTIAL HAZARDS INVOLVED. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE DID NOT READ THE LETTER AND SUBSEQUENTLY HAD REPAIRS MADE AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE SO THEY NEVER REPORTED THE PROBLEM. IT WAS A COSTLY REPAIR AND I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE EXPENSE. I COUNT MYSELF LUCKY THAT IT IS NOT MY SERVIVING FAMILY FILING THIS COMPLAINT. *TT
FUEL PUMP OUTLET TUBE WAS FOUND CORRODED THROUGH AFTER INFORMING THE LOCAL GMC DEALER OF GASOLINE ODORS WHEN GETTING OUT OF VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN BRANDON, FLORIDA AND HAS ALWAYS REMAINED IN FLORIDA. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION DROPPED DOWN TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WERE TO DRIVE OVER A BUMP, THE TIRES COULD BLOW OUT AND CAUSE A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 188,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HIGH BEAM EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ALSO FAILED TO ILLUMINATE SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I GOT HOME ONE EVENING AND WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO SHUT THE TRUCK OFF THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. I WAS CONCERNED; AS I COULD NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE RUNNING ALL NIGHT; AT THAT POINT I TRIED TO ENGAGE THE KEY AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING . I BECAME CONCERNED AND STARTED TO FIDDLE WITH THE KNOBS AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN AFTER TURNING THE HIGHLIGHT SWITCH THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE NEXT MORNING I HESTITATELY ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I WAS SUCCESSFUL I HEADED STRAIGHT TO THE GMC DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM AND THE IGNITION WIRING HAD TO BE REDONE; (THE COST WAS $1600.00) I STARTED A DIALOG WITH GM AND THEY ENGAGED ME WITH SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS; WHICH LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD PICK UP THE COST; AS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE NOT PART OF ANY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE THAT I AS A OWNER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. WHEN I MADE A REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD (OR WOULD DO). I COULD SEE IF IT WERE RELATED TO AN OIL CHANGE. BRAKES,FILTERS,ETC. BUT AS A OWNER THIS ITEM IS OUTSIDE OF MY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY. GM SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND MAKE ME AND OTHERS WHOLE. PS. *TR
I OWN A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH HAS BECOME INOPERABLE. THE DOOR LATCHES MAYBE 1 IN 10 TRIES. I FOUND A RECALL BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME MINE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT PROBLEM AN I AM IN ONE OF THE STATES THAT IT COVERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERABLE AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST OR SLOW SHE WAS TRAVELING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
PURCHASED A 2003 ENVOY IN NOVEMBER OF 2010 AT AROUND 86000 MILES IN ONE MONTH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OUT SO NO SPEEDOMETER AND AFFECTED THE OIL GAUGE. AT EXACTLY 100,000 MILES THE DRIVER DOOR PANEL WENT OUT COULD SMELL WIRES BURNING. CALLED DEALER WHERE PURCHASED TO TRADE IN ON VEHICLE IN WORKING ORDER AND HE WAS ABLE TO FIND PARTS FROM JUNK YARD TO REPLACE I WAS ALSO INFORMED THE PROBLEMS I HAD HAVE BECOME AN EPIDEMIC FOR ALL GMC VEHICLES AND PEOPLE ARE SPENDING A SMALL FORTUNE GETTING THEM REPAIRED. JUST WANT TO ADVISE ANYONE READING THIS TO STOP BUYING ANYTHING MADE MY GMC BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR FAULTY PRODUCTS NOR DOES THE GOVERNMENT MAKE THEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, SEVERAL INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. (ABS, SEATBELT, BATTERY PRIMARILY) THESE LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A WHILE AND THEN GO OFF, ONE BY ONE. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, THE BATTERY LIFE METER DROPPED TO ZERO. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RE-START. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, THE BATTERY ITSELF TESTED THAT IT WAS GOOD. I REPLACED THE BATTERY, ANYWAY, HOPING IT SOLVED THE ISSUES, BUT THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTINUE TO TURN ON WHILE DRIVING. AFTER A DAY OR SO, THEY TURN OFF AND THEN DAYS LATER WILL COME ON AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES BY TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND NEITHER COULD FIND A SOLUTION OUTSIDE OF REPLACING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND OTHER GMC MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T THE ENVOY BEEN INCLUDED? IT'S OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AS WELL. (ALTHOUGH, OTHER THAN THE AIRBAG RECALL, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICES ABOUT ANY OTHER RECALLS REGARDING MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER ISSUES). *TR
I HAVE A 2003 GMC ENVOY. FROM THE BEGINNING I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL WORKING PROPERLY (REARVIEW MIRRORS, SEAT CONTROLS, ETC). ALSO, MY FUEL INDICATOR AND SPEEDOMETER BOTH WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I BELIEVE GMC SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFAULT AND REQUEST A RECALL. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS DEALING WITH THE VERY SAME ISSUES ON MODELS FROM 2003 THRU 2011. *TR
THIS IS IN ADDITION TO A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT (TCN: DBN20-8138 REFERS. YESTERDAY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY '03 GMC ENVOY WHEN IT STOPPED AT ONE OF THE BUSIEST INTERSECTIONS IN TOWN. GAS GAUGE REGISTERED 1/4 FUEL. AFTER PUSHING IT TO A PARKING LOT AND ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE, IT STARTED TO FLUTTER AND STOP, THEN NOTHING. THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, HAD IT RECHARGED AND REINSTALLED, SAME SYMPTOMS. THOUGHT OF OTHER OWNERS OF '03 ENVOYS HAVING PROBS WITH FUEL GAUGE, DECIDED TO PUT MORE FUEL WHICH I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AND DRIVE IT TO MY RESIDENCE. THE FUEL GAUGE IS A PROBLEM IN ADDITION TO THE RPM GAUGE AS PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED. THERE ARE MANY ENVOY OWNERS EXPERIENCING THESE SAME PROBLEMS WITH ADDITIONAL ONES AS SEE ON EDMUNDS ENVOY FORUM. THIS COULD POSE AS A SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY IF MY WIFE WAS TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND IT SUDDENLY DIED ON HER, REAR-END COLLISION WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE. *TR
BRAKE LINE FROM ANTI-LOCK BRAKE UNIT TO VEHICLE REAR RUSTING OUT CAUSING BRAKE FLUID LEAK. *TR
2003 ENVOY DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT BULBS KEEP BURNING OUT . WIRES ARE BURNT AND TERMINAL HAS MELTED. THIS PAST WEEK BOTH HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T ONE OF THE OF THE 308 OTHERS THAT WERE RECALLED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFEREED WHO PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V046000 (VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER) AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATES BETWEEN NOT WORKING AT ALL TO SIMPLY DISPLAYING AN OBVIOUSLY INCORRECT SPEED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY XLT. THE CONTACT STATED THE JACK THAT HOLDS THE VEHICLE UP WHILE CHANGING A FLAT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RELEASE AND LOWER THE VEHICLE TO THE GROUND. THE MECHANICAL JACK HAD TO BE KICKED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO RELEASE IT. THERE WAS ALSO A CRACK IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE RIM. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LTX M/S TIRES, TIRE SIZE 245/65/17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED CRACKS ON THE SIDEWALLS AND SHOULDER AREA. THE CRACKS APPEARED TO BE EXTREMELY LARGER ALONG THE SHOULDER OF THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO TIRE CENTER FOR INSPECTION. THE TIRES HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,496. PROBLEMS IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES. SPECIFICALLY WITH THE RPM GAUGE. IT REFLECTS ERRATIC RPM'S WHEN IT FIRST STARTED THE NEEDLE WOULD RAISE TO BETWEEN 5-6K RPMS WHEN AT IDLE, AFTER APPROX 2 WEEKS IT WOULD RESET ITSELF TO NORMAL, APPROX 2-3 WEEKS LATER IT WOULD REGISTER APPROX 6-7K RPMS THEN RESET ITSELF ONCE AGAIN TO NORMAL. NOW IT IS PEGGED ALL THE WAY AROUND AND POINTING DUE SOUTH, IT ATTEMPTS TO RESET ITSELF BUT WILL NOT. I AM ALSO SEEING ERRATIC INDICATIONS ON THE FUEL GAUGE. ON THE EDMUNDS ENVOY FORUM THERE ARE QUITE A FEW ENVOY OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS, SOME ARE HAVING SPEEDOMETER LEVEL PROBLEMS. WAS IN CONNECT WITH GMC REPRESENTATIVE AND SHE COULD/WOULD NOT HELP SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I EVEN SUGGESTED THAT THEY PAY AT LEAST 1/2 THE COST OF REPAIRS. I BELIEVE THIS A COMPONENT FAILURE AND COULD POSSIBLY BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS. THE PROBABILITY OF ALSO HAVING SPEEDOMETER FAILURE IN THE NEAR FUTURE IS PRETTY GOOD BET.
2003 ENVOY XL , POWER STEERING COOLER LEAKS!!!! CONSTANTLY PUTTING FLUID IN RESEVOIR..THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME THING ON THE 2006 MODEL, BUT THE VEHICLE IS EXACTLY THE SAME FROM 2003 THRU 2006... I BELIEVE THIS RECALL FOR THE 2006 MODEL SHOULD INCLUDE THE 2003,2004 AND 2005 MODELS ALSO SINCE THEY ARE THE SAME PART FOR THE VEHICLES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY MICHIGAN HIGHWAY I HEARD SOME RATTLING NOISE AND LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AS THE ENTIRE PANEL ABOVE THE REAR HATCH THAT HOLDS THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT FLEW OFF MY CAR. I WASN'T ABLE TO RETRIEVE IT SINCE IT LANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY.I HOPE NO ONE RAN OVER THE PART CAUSING DAMAGE TO THEIR CAR OR WORSE YET SWERVING TO MISS IT AND CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE SINCE SEEN 4 OTHER ENVOY XL'S MISSING THE SAME PART! THAT'S 4 OTHER VEHICLES IN MY LITTLE TOWN CAUSING 4 POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $520 FOR PARTS TO REPLACE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN A JUNK YARD. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW TO PROCEED FROM HERE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER READING BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 50 MPH. THE FUEL, RPMS, WATER TEMPERATURE, BATTERY AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE FLUCTUATED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
RIDING ON FREEWAY AND HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY WENT OFF IN DARK AREA. CUT ON FOG LAMPS AND HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON AFTER COUPLE MILES OF TRAVEL. THEY HAVE NOT WENT OFF YET AGAIN BUT WOULD BE DANGEROUS ON CURVE ROAD. PROBLEM MAYBE IN TURN SIGNAL CONTROL. CRUISE WENT OUT DAY BEFORE AND CAME BACK. ALL LOCATED IN SAME SWITCH. CALLED GMC AND TOLD THEM OF PROBLEM. HAVE NOT WENT OFF AGAIN YET. TALKED TO DEALER AND THEY WANT TO SEE IT WITH PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR DIES FOR NO REASON IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE THE FIRST DAY I GOT THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO FUNCTIONS LIKE IT HAS HYDROLICS FOR A WHILE IT WILL BE LOW TO THE GROUND WHILE I'M DRIVING IT THEN OUT OF NO WHERE IT WOULD RAISE UP I HAD TO GET THE SUSPENSION DONE WHEN I GOT IT BECAUSE IT WAS OLD AND ALSO THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION ALSO IF I PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON IT WILL TURN ON THE HEAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN A HEADACHE. *JS
ERRATIC SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS ON MY 2003 GMC ENVOY XL. IT HAS BEEN ACTING UP OCCASIONALLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS, BUT NOW IT SOMETIMES WILL TOTALLY MALFUNCTION AND EITHER BOTTOM OUT AT ZERO, OR REGISTER TOO HIGH, IT IS JUST NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR GMC VEHICLES OF THIS TIME FRAME, AND ENVOYS ARE ONE OF THE WORST. *TR
FAILURE OF 2003 GMC ENVOY SPEEDOMETER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP AND THE BRAKES WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL WHOOSHING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
I HAVE A 2003 GMC ENVOY THAT STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE FILLER TUBE AND FUEL ASSEMBLY WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER THE COSTLY FUEL TANK WAS NOT. HOW CAN YOU HAVE AN ITEM DIRECTLY RELATED TO CORROSION THAT CAUSED THE TANK PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE NOT BE REIMBURSABLE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM TO ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO RIDE AROUND WITH SUCH A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. SAFETY IN NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM. *TR

I HAVE 03 GMC ENVOY THAT I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF. I HAVE BEEN SMELLING GAS LATELY AND NOT SEEN ANY GAS LEAKING. THE GAS ODOR GRADUALLY HAS BEEN GETTING STRONGER AND STRONGER. EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO TELL THAT THERE IS A GAS LEAK, BUT IS ONLY LEAKING A SMALL AMOUNT WHILE THE TRUCK IS RUNNING. NOW MY ENVOY REEKS OF GASOLINE ALL THE TIME OUTSIDE AND SOMETIMES INSIDE WHEN THE HEAT IS ON AND IDLING. SEEMS THE GAS POOLS ON AN INDENT ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK AND WHEN I PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY(DOWN A STEEP HILL AND SHARP TURN) IT ALL POURS OUT. SEEMS THAT EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME TYPE PROBLEMS. DURING COLDER DAYS, OUR SPEEDOMETER ON OUR 2003 GMC ENVOY XL DOES NOT WORK UNTIL IT WARMS UP. WE HAVE 112,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER RESEARCHING ON LINE FOR SPEEDOMETER ISSUES, THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE. I HAVE A 2003 GMC ENVOY. AT FIRST MY RPM NEEDLE STARED TO MOVE UP FASTER THEN WHAT I WAS GOING FOR ABOUT A MONTH. WHEN I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS LETTING OUT A VACUUM NOISE. NOW IT'S BEEN A MONTH AND A HALF AND MY MPH IS NOT WORKING. IT SEEMS TO BE STUCK ON 80 MPS WHILE I'M SETTING AND GOES PAST 120 WHILE I'M DRIVING. ALSO THE GAS GAGE IS NOT WORKING RIGHT. VEHICLE IS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. GAS FUMES WERE NOTICED COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE PLASTIC GAS TANK NEAR THE FILLER NECK. WAS TOLD THAT GM HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS BUT NO RECALLS OR REPAIR BULLETINS. THEREFORE, SINCE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1350.00 FOR REPAIRS. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE. GM SHOULD BE RECALLING THESE PLASTIC GAS TANKS AND REPLACING THEM AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE COULD CATCH ON FIRE! MY 2003 GMC ENVOY XL SLE HAS A LATCH PROBLEM ON THE BACK DOORS, IT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED BUT ISN'T RESOLVED AND THE DRIVER HEADLAMP CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT, 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. MY 03 ENVOY XL AIR COMPRESSOR WILL NOT INFLATE THE AIR SUSPENSION. THE REAR END IS SITTING WAY DOWN WITH A LITTLE BIT OF AIR IN THE SHOCKS BUT WILL BOTTOM OUT EASILY. THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON FOR ABOUT 30 SEC TO 1 MIN AT STARTUP BUT NO INCREASE IN RIDE HEIGHT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED - 1ST TIME WAS ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2006 AND THE DEALERSHIP FIXED IT FOR FREE. IN 2010 AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK IN MY VERY WELL KEPT/SERVICED 2003 GMC ENVOY I BEGAN DRIVING HOME AND NOTICED THAT MY GAS GAUGE WASN'T WORKING. THE TANK WAS FULL BUT THE FUEL GAUGE READ BELOW THE EMPTY. AFTER TAPPING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, CHECKING FUSES, ETC NOTHING WORKED SO I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THAT GMC HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. EITHER THE FUEL SENDING UNIT OR THE SENSOR IS BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST $500 - $600. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS QUITE THE PROBLEM AMONGST GMC VEHICLE OWNERS AND CONFIRMED THAT GMC WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT... NOW MY FUEL GAUGE READS DIFFERENTLY AT EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED; BUT IT NEVER READS CORRECTLY.... THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND GMC SHOULD STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR INFERIOR PARTS.... *TR
