I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES STOPPED WORKING AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON FOR THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND GMC WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAY I HAVE TOO MANY MILES AND THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THIS NOW CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND THE WHOLE ELECTRIC SYSTEM IS IN FAILURE, I CAN'T START THE VEHICLE NOW AND THIS IS 2013. CHRONIC ONGOING PROBLEM THAT POSES MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES WITH SPEED, FUEL AND MUCH MORE. *TR
NE WISCONSIN, DRIVING ON VERY COLD AND SNOW COVERED HIGHWAYS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO TURN. AFTER TWENTY MINUTES, LOST ALL POWER STEERING. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FOR: PROPER PWR STRG FLUID LEVEL (DIP STICK INDICATED FULL), ANY SNOW/ICE OBSTRUCTIONS BETWEEN TIRE & INNER FENDER (NONE), ANY FLUID LEAKS (NONE), ANY PUNCTURE/RUPTURED HOSES (NONE), ANY TIRE DAMAGE OR IMPROPER INFLATION (ALL PERFECT). NO NOISE FROM POWER STEERING PUMP AT ANY SPEED, NO PUMP SHAFT SEAL LEAK OR PUMP BEARING NOISE, PULLEY/SHAFT ARE NOT OVERHEATING (NO EXCESS FRICTION). VEHICLE HAS ONLY 41K MILES, HAS BEEN TREATED WITH KID GLOVES AND IS SERVICED REGULARLY AT 3500 MILES VS GMC RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS IN 4-WHEEL HIGH DRIVE MODE AT THE TIME, SELECTING 2WD, AWD OR 4WD LO MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. VEHICLE IS ALWAYS PARKED IN A HEATED GARAGE AND AFTER SITTING IN 60F FOR 24 HOURS, PROBLEMS REMAINS. WITH ALL THE STEERING COMPLAINTS FOR THE VEHICLE ON THIS WEBSITE (I HAVE 11 PRINTED, MOST RECENT 12/23/07), I CANNOT FATHOM WHY YOU CONTINUE TO REPLY TO OWNERS WITH THE SAME, CANNED LETTER? OBVIOUSLY, STEERING IS A CRITICAL ITEM ON ANY VEHICLE. I TRULY FEEL A SMALLER/LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER MAY HAVE HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME INCIDENT WITH THE SAME ROAD CONDITIONS WITH HORRIBLE CONSEQUENCES. FOLKS, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH GM'S DESIGN OF THIS PUMP. FAILURES ARE VIRTUALLY UNHEARD OF FOR ALMOST EVERY OTHER MAKE & MODEL, IMPORT OR DOMESTIC. PLEASE ASSIST US WITH THIS EVER-INCREASING PROBLEM. NOW I AM LEFT WITH THE DISTASTEFUL TASK OF ARGUING WITH THE GMC DEALERSHIP. *TR
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. IT NOW REGISTERS SPEEDS MUCH HIGHER THEN BEING DRIVEN. IN ADDITION THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND THE NEEDLE POINTS TO THE FLOOR. THE DEALER STATES THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $600. THE ENVOY ONLY HAS 48,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT FAIL WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,087 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT DRIVE INTO A DITCH. THERE WAS WHITE POWDER ON THE STEERING WHEEL; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, BUT SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,318.
I HAVE A 2003 GMC ENVOY, AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS BROKEN. DUE TO RESEARCH ON THE WEB I'M SEEING NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE PUT A CALL INTO GM THEY ARE TOTAL IGNORANT (&*(*_*. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT SOMETHING I BROKE ON MY OWN OR WORE OUT. I HAVE LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I CALLED LAST YEAR WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THE LADY WAS ONE RUDE '!@#$%!! NOW THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I HAVE TO GET IT FIXED FOR INSPECTION AND IT'S NOT GOING TO PASS WITH IT BROKEN. I HAVE NO REAL INCOME BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I ARE UNEMPLOYED!! SO WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM? A CREDIT CARD I CAN'T PAY OFF TO BEGIN WITH. OUR TAXES BAILED THEM OUT, THE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS PROVIDE A SAFE VEHICLE, AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT SAFE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE/PARTS!!! HELP THE POOR FOLK HERE!!! THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. GAS LEAK ON 2003 GMC ENVOY *CN
SPEEDOMETER ON MY 03' ENVOY STICKS, IT SAYS I AM GOING LIKE 60 WHEN I JUST CRANKED THE CAR. ONCE YOU TURN OFF THE CAR THE SPEEDOMETER STILL READS THE TOP SPEED YOU WERE GOING. THIS IS HORRIBLE, I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH AND ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM!! GMC NEEDS TO RECALL THIS FAULT AND HAVE IT REPLACED! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED, BUT THERE WAS SLIPPAGE. THE REAR END AXLE BEARINGS AND OIL SEALS WERE NOT ON THE VEHICLE AND THE OIL SEALS LEAKED ON THE BRAKES. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $755.45. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 77,088. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND AN OIL CHANGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS ON THE VEHICLE WERE FAULTY AND THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING AND TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED GENERAL MOTORS THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RESULT OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. GENERAL MOTORS THEN STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000. UPDATED 09/16/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. UPDATED 09/18/08. *JB
MADE SHARP RIGHT TURN---LOST ALL POWER STEERING---CHECKED , BELT,FLUID--POWER STEERING DID NOT RETURN --CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. *TR
MALFUNCTIONING OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AS DESCRIBED BY THE DEALERSHIP. SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS INACCURATE SPEED, OTHER READINGS ON PANEL FLIP-FLOP ALSO. ADVISED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THIS WAS A NOTED DEFECT WITH GMC AND THEY HAD ALREADY STARTED REPAIRING LARGER GMC'S AND SHOULD GET AROUND TO MINE LATER IN 2008. YESTERDAY, GMC INFORMED ME OF A SPECIAL POLICY ISSUED FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT ONLY FOR SIERRAS AND YUKONS (7YRS 70,00 MILES). GMC TOLD ME THEY WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENVOY'S. I ONLY HAVE 56,000 MILES ON THIS CAR (FIRST OWNER). NOW THE A/C HAS GONE OF BY ITSELF TWICE THIS MONTH AND THE PRESET STATIONS HAVE VANISHED. *TR
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. I CAN BE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE SPEEDO WILL BE PEGGED AT 120MPH. OR WHEN IM DRIVING IT WONT MOVE AT ALL. SOMETIMES...I'LL START THE CAR, AND THE SPEED WILL BE SITTING AT 40 MPH. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 3-4 MONTHS NOW. AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT HELP ME. THEY TELL ME I HAVE TO BUY A WHOLE NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ($475+) TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. *TR
TOOK 2003 GMC ENVOY XL TO DEALER TO INVESTIGATE ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT - FOUND PO422 CODE - SMALL LEAK AT GAS TANK FILLER NECK. CHECKED INTERNET FOUND SEVERAL OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEM - FIX IS TO REPLACE ENTIRE GAS TANK AT A COST OF $800.00. *TR
I HAVE A FUEL LEAK AT THE POINT WHERE THE FUEL FILLER HOSE ENTERS THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET TO FIND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS PROBLEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS. *TR
BOUGHT MY GMC IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR 2007. NEVER HAD TO USE THE 4X4. UNFORTUNATELY WITH 9 INCHES OF SNOW TRIED THE 4X4 FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT DID NOT WORK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOT WORKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A 600 ESTIMATED SERVICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS INDEPENDENTLY FLEW OPEN. THE CONTACT WAS HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING UNTIL SHE WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. IN ADDITION, WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE GASOLINE WOULD SPEW BACK OUT OF THE FILLER TUNE AND ONTO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TACH GAUGE FOR SPEEDOMETER STARTED BE FAULTY. READ INACCURATE TO MY SPEED. *TR

GM HAS ISSUED SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #07187 ( 9/28/2007) TO REPLACE , FREE OF CHARGE, THIS BAD CLUSTER BUT WON"T FIX THE SAME PROBLEM IN THEIR SMALLER SUV"S. *TR
DRIVER'S DOOR PANEL NO LONGER WORKS, AND SMELLS LIKE AN ELECTRIC FIRE. CHECK/REPLACED FUSE = OK. ALL OTHER DOORS WORKS WITHOUT A PROBLEM, AND REMOTE OPENS OTHER THREE DOORS. DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS FAULTY, AND CAR SMELLS OF ELECTRICAL FIRE. *TR I REMOVED THE FUSE, TO BE SAFE FOR RIGHT NOW.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE OIL WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS STEERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE LOCKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN OIL DRAIN PLUG THAT LOOSENED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 55,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY XL. WHILE APPROXIMATELY DRIVING 55MPH THE VEHICLE MADE AN EXCESSIVE NOISE AS IF THE VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR. THE THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR BECAME INOPERATIVE DISABLING THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP ASSEMBLY, INPUT DRUM SHAFT, PEREFEET SHIFT, CONVERTER, AND THE UJC. IN ADDITION, SHE SMELLED A FUEL ODOR WHEN ADDING FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK. THE MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. THERE IS A DEFECT INVESTIGATION FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM, NHTSA ACTION# EA07009. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNAVAILABLE.
2003 GMC ENVOY. FUEL LEAK. BEGAN SMELLING STRONG FUEL ODOR. PER SHOP, FUEL LEAK. RESULT: HAD TO REPLACE FUEL TANK / PUMP. OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
ENTERING STRAIGHT STRETCH OF 2 LANE HWY.,I SWERVED TO MISS OBJECT IN MY LANE AND PART OF ADJACENT LANE. I COULD NOT STRAIGHTEN UP VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED AND STRUCK A TREE. THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE. MY DOOR WAS DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE CUT OFF TO FREE MYSELF. THE ENVOY WAS TOTALED. MY WIFE'S HARNESS DID NOT HOLD AND SHE WAS FACING THE REAR BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS. THE SIDE AIR BAGS AND FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS WELL MAINTAINED WITH NEW TIRES AND BRAKES. I WAS LIFE FLIGHTED, AND MY WIFE WAS CARRIED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE WE SUSTAINED MULTIPLE INJURIES. *TR
NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE AIR/VENT/HEAT SYSTEM. BREEZE BLOWING IN 24X7 AND THE "RECIRCULATE" BUTTON ONLY WORKS WHEN THE FAN IS ON. EXTREMELY IRRITATING WHEN DRIVING BEHIND A BUS, OR IN A DUST STORM, OR DURING A FIRE. IT IS HIGHLY IRRITATING TO HAVE AIR BLOWING IN YOUR EYES ALL THE TIME, OR ON YOUR FEET MAKING YOU COLD; OR THE OPPOSITE DURING THE SUMMER. WHAT IF I DON'T WANT AIR BLOWING ON ME, HOT OR COLD? I THINK IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE TO ALWAYS FIDDLE WITH THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS TRYING TO MAKE IT COMFORTABLE WHILE DRIVING. IF I HAD KNOWN THIS CAR WAS DESIGNED LIKE THIS, I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR PAYMENT I NEVER HAD BEFORE AND A VERY SAD SITUATION. *TR
MY 2003 ENVOY WITH 68,000 WAS REAR ENDED. SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT I BEGAN TO HEAR A CLUNCKING NOISE WHEN STOPPING. AFTER I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE REPAIRED I WAS INFORMED THAT IT NO LONGER WOULD GO IN REVERSE. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE SUNSHELL GEAR WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FINE BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THE DEALER IS CLAIMING IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT AND THUS I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ESTIMATED $2,500 TO FIX! *TR
OUT BACK LATCH DOOR, DOES NOT SHUT PROPERLY. YOU HAVE TO SLAM IT, AND IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BREAK THE GLASS. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A VERY BIG ISSUE BECAUSE IF IT FAILS TO STAY CLOSE LIKE IT SOMETIMES DOES, IT COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED. WELL BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT, THEY HAD THE A/C FIXED, DUE TO IT NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WELL THE REAR A/C AND HEAT STILL DO NOT WORK. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON, AND OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. IT DOES NOT GIVE OUT HEAT AT ALL IN THE REAR. THIS IS A REAL ISSUE FOR US AND MANY OTHERS WITH CHILDREN. I HAVE READ PLENTY OF OTHER REPORTS STATING THE SAME OR VERY CLOSE. IN ALL IN ALL, THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED. THESE CARS ARE WAY TO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NOT HAVE GMC STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND FIX THEIR ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE COOLING FAN CLUTCH MAKING TICKING SOUNDS DUE TO THE "PULSING OF THE SOLENOID AS DESCRIBED IN THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASED BY GENERAL MOTORS (#05-06-06-004), WHICH SPECIFIES NOT TO REPLACE FAN CLUTCH, BUT REPROGRAM THE PCM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL COVERED BY GM, SINCE NO PARTS ARE BROKEN AND THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S SOFTWARE. CONSUMER CAN ONLY GET THIS FIXED BY GM DEALER. THIS EXPENSE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL BY GM SINCE IT INVOLVES ONLY THE DEFECTIVE COMPUTER PROGRAM. THE ARE NOT PARTS TO REPLACE, JUST A REPROGRAMMING OF THE COMPUTER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD START AFTER A FEW SECONDS. SHE ALSO NOTICED A GASEOUS ODOR AND A FUEL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT A RUSTED FUEL MODULE CAUSED THE FAILURE AND HE REPLACED THE FUEL MODULE. THERE HAD BEEN NO OTHER OCCURRENCES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 65,417.
I WAS RETURNING FROM LUNCH, GOING OVER THE VINCENT THOMAS BRIDGE IN L.A. HARBOR. I LOOKED OUT AT THE BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, THEN LOOKED AT MY SPEEDOMETER. I WAS GOING 90 MPH. I STARTED TO PANIC AND WENT FOR THE BRAKE. MY OTHER SENSES KICKED IN AND SAID "YOUR NOT GOING 90 MPH" . I LOOKED AROUND AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY SPEED. THE SPEEDOMETER "SAID" ALL KINDS OF NUMBERS. WHEN I PARKED, I THINK IT SAID 40MPH. THAT WAS TWO MONTHS AGO. SINCE THEN THE SPEEDOMETER HAS READ ALL KINDS OF WIERD NUMBERS. SOMETIMES IT IS ACTUALLY PRETTY CLOSE, THEN IT GOES OFF THE CHARTS TO 140MPH. I HAD THE DEALER CHECK IT OUT, THE VEHICLE HAS 79,000 MILES. THE DEALER SAID THAT GM WOULD COVER IT UP TO 70,000 MILES. THE DEALER WANTED $325.00 FOR THE PART AND $200.00 TO INSTALL IT. I SAID NO SO HE CHARGED ME $45.00 TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL. BESIDES THE SAFETY FACTORS, WHAT REALLY BOTHERED ME WAS TWO THINGS. 1) THE DEALER MADE THIS SEEM LIKE AN ISOLATED CASE. THIS SITUATON IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE SIMPLY SAID "IT'S PROBALLY A STEPPER MOTOR, IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM,$ 500.00 TO FIX". INSTEAD HE PLAYED DUMB AND CHECKED OVER MY VEHICLE FOR $45.00. THE REAR DRIVER DOOR POPPED OPEN AND WON'T CLOSE. THE FAN CLUTCH FAILED 2 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE AND MEDIVAC UNIT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.

I HAD BEEN IN A FRONT END COLLISION BY A DRUNK DRIVER TURNING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 50 MPH, 5 MPH UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT IN A 2003 GMC ENVOY SLT. I OWN A 2003 GMC ENVOY. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO WE VISITED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. UPON TESTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A CRACK FOUND AT THE STEM OF THE FUEL TANK. IT HAD BEEN LEAKING FUEL AND LOOSING PRESSURE CAUSING THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE REPAIR BILL IS AROUND $1400 FOR A SAFETY HAZARD THAT WAS NO FAULT OF MINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IT WAS A BAD DESIGN DUE TO EPA REGULATIONS ON VENTING THE CAP AND THAT HE HAD SEEN MANY OF THESE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO HELP. THEY OFFERED A DISCOUNT ON A NEW OR USED CAR. THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL BUT THE MORE I LOOK INTO THIS, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY ISSUES OF THIS HAPPENING. THIS PROBLEM COULD KILL MANY PEOPLE. *JB

I WAS DRIVING ON 6/13/07 & IT WAS RAINING I HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, AND WHEN IT STOPPED RAINING, APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES LATER, I TURNED OFF THE WIPERS. HOWEVER, THEY NEVER CUT OFF. LATER, I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET & FOUND NHTSA RECALL 04V046000. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER ON 6/14/07 I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER FOR GMC TO VERIFY THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE WASN'T A PART OF THAT RECALL. I TOLD THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL O & IT WAS THE SAME MODEL YEAR. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR , WHO TOLD ME THE SAME THING EXCEPT THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER, AND THERE. IF THERE WAS WATER IN THE MODULE IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THE SUV I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $320.00, BUT BECAUSE GMC DIDN'T HAVE IT ON A OPEN RECALL I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. THEY HAVE TO ORDER THE MODULE & IT MUST GO BACK THERE TOMORROW 06/15/07. I CALLED THE 800 # AGAIN & LEFT A VOICE MAIL MESSAGE EXPLAINING WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID. WOULD FILE A LAW SUIT IF THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *AK
