TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
RECEIVED A LETTER IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 INFORMING ME THAT MY CAR (INCLUDED MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER, NOT JUST MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR) IS PART OF AN EXTENDED 15 YEAR/150,000 MILE GM SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM, 14423. DURING THE LAST TWO YEARS, MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF REGULARLY, AND I HAD ALMOST $5,000 OF EMISSIONS WORK DONE TO MY CAR WHICH AT 12 PLUS YEARS ONLY HAS 73,000 PLUS MILES ON IT. BACK IN 2012,I WAS UNABLE TO PASS INSPECTION ON MY CAR BECAUSE MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON (02/2012) AND BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC. SOMETHING UNDER MY CAR MELTED (SAID IN SERVICE RECEIPT) AND COST ME $343.00 TO REPAIR. A WEEK LATER, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN AND I TOOK MY CAR TO KERBECKS GMC IN ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. SERVICE MANAGER SAID MY CAR WAS NO LONGER COVERED, BUT I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID OTHERWISE. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO DEALER AND AFTER LONG ARGUMENT, IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. RECEIPT DOESN'T STATE CAUSE OR WORK DONE. NOW I BROUGHT CAR BACK TO KERBECK AS THE SMELL OF GAS IN MY CAR IS PUNGENT. THEY SAID MY CAR HAD A CRACK IN MY FUEL TANK, COVERED UNDER 14423 AND SAID GM WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE IT AS A FIRE COULD OCCUR. ERBECK GAVE ME A LOANER FOR TWO WEEKS ON 12/31/20015. PART IS ON BACKORDER. GM TOOK MY CAR AWAY FROM ME ON 1/16/2016 AND SAID THEY WOULDN'T PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER ANYMORE. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR SINCE THE 14TH OF JANUARY, LIVE ALONE, AND HAVE NO MEANS OF GETTING AROUND. I CAN'T AFFORD A RENTAL. OPENED CASE WITH GM, CASE # 8-1759699353 WITH A WOMAN NAMED CARMEN WHO SAID IT WOULD TAKE OVER A MONTH AT BEST TO GET THE BACKORDERED PART IN. I NEED A LOANER AND A WAY TO GET AROUND. THE SERVICE MANAGER BOB INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND SO DID GM. WHY DID THEY TAKE MY LOANER AWAY LEAVING ME STRANDED ALONE AT 62 YEARS OLD. PLEASE HELP ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY 360. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EMITTING A FUEL ODOR; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO FUEL LEAKING. THE ODOR WAS MORE PUNGENT WHEN THERE WAS A FULL TANK OF FUEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT NHTSA ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE AS LONG AS THERE WAS A HALF TANK OF FUEL. THE CONTACT WANTED THE DEALER TO VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 14423B, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE PART FOR THE REPAIR WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURERS RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A TWO WAY HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THE GAS PEDAL LOST RESISTANCE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS STEERED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STEERED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CHECK ENGINE AND OTHER DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING CHAOTICALLY. WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WITHIN A SHORT TIME, WHITE SMOKE TURNED INTO BLACK SMOKE AND THEN FLAMES STARTED TO APPEARS. THE FIRE UNDER THE HOOD EVENTUALLY CONTINUED TO GROW UNTIL IT COMPLETELY BURNED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT MOST OF THE FIRST TWO ROWS OF THE INTERIOR BEFORE THE FIREMEN ARRIVED AND WERE ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVING APPROXIMATELY AT 55 MPH. ENGINE LOSS POWER, GAS PEDAL LOST RESISTANCE AND WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ENGINE WAS STALLED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ONE AND OFF. ENGINE STARTED TO HAVE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE WHITE SMOKE TURNED INTO BLACK SMOKE AND THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AFTER A FEW MINUTES.

MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON THE PA TURNPIKE AROUND 12 AM ON OCT. 5, 2015. SHE WAS CHANGING LANES, MOVING INTO THE LEFT LANE NEXT TO HER AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ENVOY DROVE RIGHT INTO THE MEDIAN AT FULL FORCE, SPUN AROUND, AND FLIPPED TWICE. WHEN THE CAR LANDED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS, SHE WAS ACROSS THE LANES OF TRAFFIC. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND TO SAFETY PRIOR TO BEING HIT BY 2 OTHER CARS COMING DOWN THE ROAD. THE ENVOY WAS TOTALED. BY THE GRACE OF GOD MY DAUGHTER MADE IT OUT ALIVE AND IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH HER LEFT KNEE. WE ARE NOT SURE WHY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, UNABLE TO TURN, FORCING HER DIRECTLY INTO THE MEDIAN. IT COULD BE AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING COLUMN OR WHEELS. THE ENVOY IS CURRENTLY AT A COLLISION YARD IN LEVITTOWN, PA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR HATCH BACK GLASS SHATTERED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 142,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE GEAR SHIFTER REPLACEMENT DUE TO CORROSION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,398.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THERE WAS A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FUEL WAS LEAKING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK RUPTURED AND THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK NEEDED REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000.
The contact owned a 2004 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and made an abnormal rattling sound before the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. MY 04 GMC ENVOY WAS HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY NOT HOLDING A CHARGE I WENT AND PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AT AUTOZONE INSTALLED THE NEW BATTERY AFTER THE INSTALL WE WENT TO DRIVE OUR CAR AND THE AC WOULD ONLY BLOW THROUGH THE DEFROSTER VENTS AND FLOOR VENTS. I WENT ONLINE AND LOOKED AT MANY WEBSITES FORMS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS OF OTHER OWNERS STATING THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY. I HAVE FOUND OVER 5000 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE THIS SEEMS TO BEE A KNOWN ISSUE I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED NOW MY AC WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE WITH ENVOYS AS WELL AS TRAILBLAZERS

WHEN I PARK MY CAR THE HEADLIGHTS COME BACK ON AFTER A MINUTE. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THEM BACK OFF IS TAKE BATERY CABLE OFF.
NOTHING BUT THIS HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I BOUGHT FOR THAT DEALERSHIP. GUY FROM TODD WENZEL GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN. I HAD JUST BACK INTO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SHE'S JUST USED TO GOING EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR AND YOUR IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE ITSELF IT CUTS OUT CAR SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING BURNING I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND I STILL OWE ON IT I LIKE TO REPORT TODD WENZEL BUICK TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU THEY'RE LOUSY PEOPLE THANK YOU ALSO SENT ALL THIS INFORMATION GMC AND HAVE NOT GOT ANYWHERE

GOING DOWN THE ROAD TO WORK MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND WONT GO OFF AND NOW I CANT GET A INSPECTION STICKER THERE WAS NO REASON FOR MY LIGHT TO COME ON UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE!!

THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. FUEL TANK. AT LEAST THREE YEARS AGO, I RECEIVED A RECALL FORM GM BECAUSE OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE/FUEL TANK WAS COMPROMISED AND I WAS BEING RECALLED FOR A FUN TANK REPLACEMENT. WENT TO MY GMC DEALER (NALLEY OF BRUNSWICK GA) WHO TOLD ME THAT FUEL TANKS WERE ON NATIONAL BACKDOOR EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD THE FILLER TUBE PARTS, WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THE TANKS AVAILABLE. I FAITHFULLY REVISTEDTHEM EVERY 6 MONTHS TO BE TOLD SAME STORY, STILL NO FUEL TANKS. I BELIEVE NOW THEY ARE HOPING I JUST GO AWAY. IN THE MEAN TIME I STILL CANNOT FILL UP THE TANK WITHOUT HAVING GAS FUMES EMANATING FROM UNDER THE CAR.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST DECEMBER . WENT TO GAS STATION , GOT HOME SMELT FUEL ODOR. THERE'S NO VISIBLE LEAKS , JUST FUEL SMELL FROM TOP OF TANK. THIS IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM , LOT COMPLAINTS ONLINE . I HAVE KIDS , AND THIS UNSAFE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS , GM SHOULD RECALL AND FIX . *TR
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, WE HAVE ALWAYS HIGHLY MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE A WASHED IT WEEKLY AT OUR LOCAL HOFFMAN CAR WASH. WE HAVE A MONTHLY SERVICE WHICH INCLUDES WASH HOT WASH AND UNDER CARRIAGE WASH, I FEEL SUCH A EXPENSIVE WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE SUCH NOT HAVE A RUSTED FRAME. WE NOTICED AT AROUND 50,000 MILES IT WAS STARTING TO RUST UNDERNEATH. WE JUST HAD THIS VEHICLE SERVICED AND THE MECHANIC TOLD US IT IS GOING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE SOON. 2004 GMC ENVOY VERIFIED BY SIMS BUICK-GMC-NISSAN WARREN, OHIO, TO HAVE A LEAK IN FUEL TANK AROUND FILLER NECK AREA. SMELL OF GAS ALWAYS AROUND AND INSIDE OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE LEAKS GAS WHEN FILLED COMPLETELY. VEHICLE BEING REPAIRED 12-17-14. GM WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY HELP DUE TO VEHICLE BEING 10 YEARS OLD AND OVER 100,000 MILES. *TR

PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING GARAGE SO I KNOW THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING WHEN WE WENT IN. AS WE WERE LEAVING APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS LATER, THE LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL. HAD TO RUN HIGH BEAMS; HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE LOOK AT THE FUSES, REPLACED BULBS, ETC. BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER JUST BEFORE I WAS TAKING IT TO A DEALER TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM THE LOW BEAMS BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY THIS TIME I HEARD A FAINT NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SMELLED A BURNING (SEEMED ELECTRICAL) AROMA FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I REALIZED THE LOW-BEAM LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING AGAIN. AFTER A WEEK OR SO THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AGAIN. *TR
MY 2004 GMC ENVOY HAS 90,000 MILES AND THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS KEEP FLICKERING WHEN I START IT. AND WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THEY FLICKER. THE GAUGES ON THE DASH FOR THE CHARGING SYSTEM GOES UP AND DOWN. I HAVE HAD IT TO A CHEVY DEALER 4 TIMES KNOW, FIRST TIME THEY TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED CLEANED. THEY DID IT. PICKED IT UP AND THEN IT WAS JUST AS BAD. TOOK IT BACK AND THEY RAN TEST AND SAID IT HAS TO DO WITH A PLUG FOR THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. THEY REPLACED IT. STILL DOING IT. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM KNOW THEY TELL ME MY SECONDARY AIR PUMP AIR IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACED. THERE HAS TO BE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS TRIED RESTARTING CAR AND IT CAME BACK ON WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. P0606 PCM FAILURE CODE DISPLAYED. COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BY SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME OR KILLED IF I WAS TRYING TO TURN LEFT AT INTERSECTION. *TR
FILLER NECK ON GAS TANK HAS FRACTURED CAUSING GAS VAPORS AND POSSIBLY GAS TO ESCAPE THE TANK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THIS CONDITION PRESENT BUT HAVE JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GMC INDICATING THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW THEY WILL COVER FOR REPAIRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY ONCE THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER OF THE SUV BEGAN TO INDICATE INCORRECT READINGS. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS FINE UNTIL WE GO ON THE HIGHWAY AND TRAVEL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET BETWEEN 65-70. THEN THEY WILL READ THE INCORRECT SPEED FOR A WEEK OR SO THEN START WORKING FINE AGAIN. THE TACHOMETER NEEDLE JUST "HANGS." I TALKED TO 2 DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS WHO ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ENVOY'S AND TRAILBLAZERS. THE COST TO DO THIS IS OVER $500 OR MORE. IT APPEARS THAT SEVERAL OTHER 2004 GMC ENVOY OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER. WHEN I TALKED TO THE REPAIR SHOPS THEY SAID BEFORE THEY CAN CORRECT THE ISSUE UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS TO SEE IT HAPPEN. EACH TIME I HAD AN APPT SET IT WOULD START WORKING BEFORE THE APPT DATE SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. VERY IRRITATED THAT GMC DOESN'T ADDRESS THIS NOW. *TR
GMC HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR/REPLACE A FAULTY FUEL TANK. INSTEAD GMC HAS ASKED THAT I PAY FOR THE REPAIR $1567.00. APPARENTLY, SEVERAL GMC ENVOY OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT CRACKS IN THE FUEL TANK. GMC HAS DETERMINED UNLESS THE CRACK OCCURRED WITHIN 36,000 MILES OF PURCHASING THE CAR, IT IS THE OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RULED UNSAFE TO DRIVE BY A GMC TECHNICIAN. MY CHILDREN ARE RIDING IN A VEHICLE THAT WAS FAULTY FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN GMC. *JS

I HAD AN ACCIDENT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS. I ENDED UP SPINNING THE VEHICLE AROUND WHILE IN THE TRAVEL LANE AND HIT THE CAR IN THE PASSING LANE. MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE MECHANIC TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND TESTING SHOWED CODES OF FUEL EVAP LEAK. I HAD TO GET THIS FIXED AS I WAS DUE TO GET MY REGISTRATION RENEWED. GOT THE VEHICLE BACK WENT FOR EMISSIONS TEST AND THE"CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" POPPED UP AGAIN JUST AS EMISSION TEST WAS BEING DONE!!!. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! SO NOT ONLY DID I INCUR COST OF MECHANIC BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED THE EMISSIONS TEST. THE TECH AT THE EMISSIONS CENTER SAID THE CODES SHOWED "FUEL EVAP LEAK" DETECTED., WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE EMISSIONS TEST I SMELLED A STRONG GAS ODOR, PULLED INTO MY GARAGE AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS NOT LEAKING HOWEVER MY WHOLE GARAGE STUNK OF GAS. MY GARAGE IS ATTACHED TO MY HOUSE, LET THE DOG OUT AND THE DOG EVEN SNEEZED!.... BEING A WEEKEND AND MY ONLY WAY OF TRANSPORTATION I DROVE THE CAR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. MONDAY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SHOP AND THE TECH NOTICED THE STRONG ODOR , LATER THE TECHNICIAN CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THE LINES TO FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE LEAKING BUT ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MOBILE!!!!!. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A FIRE HAZARD AND I COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. NOW WHAT! I HAD TO GET THIS FIXED AS I NEED THE VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK. THE ADDITIONAL COST WAS $960 NOT TO MENTION THE EXTENSION I HAD TO PAY THE DMV TO EXTEND MY RENEWAL REGISTRATION. HAD THE VEHICLE BACK A WEEK NOW, NO MORE GAS SMELL BUT LORD AND BEHOLD THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" JUST POPPED UP AGAIN! THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 103K AND VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF..THE MECHANIC SAYS THE CODE IS STILL READING "FUEL EVAP LEAK" . SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP.!!!!!!! THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER ON MY GMC ENVOY 2004 IS DEFECTIVE AS IT IS ON A MULTITUDE OF OTHER GM MODELS BETWEEN 2003 AND 2005. ONE OF THE CONSEQUENCES IS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK OR WILL REPORT A FAULTY READING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION AND FOR SOME REASON GM HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM FOR GMC ENVOYS OF THE YEAR 2004 EVEN THOUGH OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL AND OTHER MODELS OF GM VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. PLEASE HELP GM DO THE RIGHT THING BY IT'S ENVOY OWNERS. WE HAVE CERTAINLY BAILED THEM OUT ENOUGH. THERE IS ANOTHER POTENTIALLY DEADLY CONSEQUENCE OF THIS ISSUE. IF ONE WERE TO BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 60MPH USING CRUISE CONTROL AND THE SPEEDOMETER WERE TO ALL OF A SUDDEN PEG ITSELF TO 20MPH, THERE WOULD BE A SUDDEN AND ABRUPT ACCELERATION AS THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN 60MPH EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY AT THAT SPEED. CAR SLID INTO RIGHT GUARDRAIL AND THEN SLID TO LEFT IN DITCH ON EXPRESSWAY. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IMPACT WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO BEND THE FRONT PASSENGER CORNER OF FRAME. THE FRAME IS ALSO CRACKED UNDERNEATH THE MIDDLE OF VEHICLE AS RESULT OF CRASH. CAR IS NO LONGER DRIVEABLE. DRIVER SUFFERED WHIPLASH. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE MARCH OF 2014 FROM SUNSET MOTORS IN COEUR D ALENE, ID. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR DIED AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED REPLACED; WHICH THEY REPLACED. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AND FILLED MY GAS TANK WHEN I BEGAN TO SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I PULLED AWAY FROM THE PUMP AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE TO SEE GAS LEAKING FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE FUEL TANK. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE NECK OF THE GAS TANK WAS CRACKED AND THEY WOULD REPAIR IT. I LEFT WITH THE VEHICLE AFTER SUNSET MOTORS STATED THE REPAIR WAS DONE ON THE GAS TANK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE CODE WAS READING P0455 LARGE EVAP LEAK. I HAVE TRIED REPLACING THE GAS CAP AS RECOMMENDED BY AUTOZONE WHERE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE CODE READ. THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON OVER THE COURSE OF MONTHS. I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO AAMCO AFTER MY VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING WHILE IN IDLE WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CRACK IN THE NECK OF THE FUEL TANK WAS STILL APPARENT AND FUEL TANK NEEDED REPLACED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND GM HAD OFFERED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY WHEN RESEARCH INTO SAFETY WAS DONE PREVIOUSLY WHICH WAS ACCEPTED AND NO RECALL WAS DONE. GM HAS STATED THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I FEEL THAT THE LEAK IN THE NECK OF THE FUEL TANK IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AS THERE IS NO KNOWN REASON FOR A CRACK TO HAPPEN IN THE FUEL TANK. LIKE I SAID PREVIOUSLY I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND FEAR THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO MY VEHICLE WITH MYSELF AND YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE UNTIL I AM ABLE TO AFFORD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. I WOULD APPRECIATE THIS BEING LOOKED IN TO AND THE SAFETY AROUND THE DEFECT. *TR
