CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF 2005 GMC ENVOY WHILE DRIVING. ***NO WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A HIGHWAY THE CONSUMER SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT ROLLED OVER TWICE. THE CONSUMER AND HIS WIFE WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CONSUMER REQUEST THAT A SAFETY INVESTIGATION BE INITIATED IN REFERENCE TO THIS PROBLEM. THIS WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT BOTH THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER PERIODICALLY. I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE HOME AND SHE SAID THAT IT WAS A HUGE DISTRACTION TO HER WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE LESS THAN 400 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO MY FRIEND, HIS 2005 TRAILBLAZER DOES THE SAME THING. NM
WHEN REAR ENTERTAINMENT DVD IS USED, THERE IS NO REAR VISIBILITY. THE SCREEN BLOCKS THE REAR COMPLETELY AND YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO USE THE SIDE MIRRORS. THIS I FEEL IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW, AS MY OTHER VEHICLE BY A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM
IN AUGUST 2005 ON A TRIP, EXITING OFF RAMP BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, WAS ABLE TO "PUMP" IT AND GET RESPONSE. AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF, SETTING & RESTART BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN GOES ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. UPON RETURN TO DEALERSHIP MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES EXTREMELY "SPONGY" WITH NO STOPPING POWER. DEALERSHIP BLED BRAKES AND SAID PROBLEM WAS AIR IN SYSTEM. STILL NO IMPROVEMENT, EXTREMELY SOFT PEDAL AND UNIT WILL NOT PANIC STOP. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP END OF JUNE 2006 AND THEY REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER A SECOND TIME. UNIT IS STILL NO BETTER AND IN MY OPINION UNSAFE TO DRIVE IF IT WILL NOT PANIC STOP. DEALERSHIP SAYS GM HAS TOLD THEM TO ORDER MORE PARTS, BUT DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. *NM
2005 GMC ENVOY HAS DEVELOPED MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. *MR THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER WAS COMING OFF AND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW WAS INOPERATIVE. BOTH ISSUES WERE RECURRENT. *SC
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY DECELERATES AS IF THE ENGINE WAS STALLING. THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, BUT THE OIL LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE P.C. ANOTHER DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE DRAGS WHEN TRAVELING UPHILL, WHICH WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE CLUTCH FANS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. AFTER ALL FOUR REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, HER VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURES. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,809 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE HIGH BEAMS BEGAN TO BLINK WHEN THE CONTACT REMOVED THE FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING BEHIND A POLICE OFFICER, AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, THE HIGH BEAMS STARTED BLINKING. THE OFFICER STOPPED HIM AND STATED THAT IT WAS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM REPAIRS. AFTER THE VEHICLE LEFT THE SHOP THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 50 MPH. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, AND FOUND NO FAILURES. THE GMC TECHNICAL SUPPORT REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT KNOW HOW TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 37,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. *AK
DT: CONSUMER OWNS A '05 GMC ENVOY AND HAS DIFFICULTY TOWING A TRAILER WITHIN GM RATES, GM STATES THAT HIS ENVOY CAN TOW A WEIGHT OF 5,800 POUND CAPACITY, HOWEVER HE FEELS THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO MANEUVER A TRAVEL TRAILER OF 3,400 POUND CAPACITY. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. CONSUMER HAS PULLED THE TRAILER WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND IT PULLS FINE BUT WHEN ATTACHED TO THE ENVOY THERE IS A PROBLEM. CONSUMER FEELS IT IS NOT WITH THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE BUT WITHIN THE ENGINE WHICH IS A V6. WHEN PULLING TRAILER FOR A DISTANCE AS LITTLE AS 2 MILES THE ENGINE HEATS UP, AND HE EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF SPEED AND ENGINE THE BOGS DOWN TO 30 MPH. ENVOY IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 373 AXLE RATIO AND CAN NOT PULL AN ENCLOSED 24FT TRAVEL TRAILER ON IT'S 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. THE 2ND TRIP TO DEALER, THE SERVICE MANAGER DID DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THE CONSUMER NEEDED A V8 ENGINE. ALSO, THERE IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. CONSUMER GAVE EXAMPLES OF AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKING BY THEMSELVES AND THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM ENABLING ITSELF RESULTING IN A SHUTDOWN OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER 10 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER SAID GM WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIR UNLESS THEY COULD DUPLICATE PROBLEM. HAS CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT LEAST 100 TIMES FOR THESE ISSUES WITHOUT ANY LUCK. NO REPAIRS OR CORRECTIONS AS A RESULT. CONSUMER IS STILL EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS AS A RESULT. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD, AND TAIL LIGHTS FLASHED RANDOMLY AT ANY SPEED, THIS FAILURE STARTED IN OCTOBER OF 2006. THE WEATHER AND TIME OF DAY WERE NOT FACTORS IN THE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THERE WERE TSBS FOR THE FAILURE, AS WELL AS FOR SEVERAL OTHERS. THE FUEL NECK HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO A DESIGN CHANGE. THE SEAL AROUND THE LICENSES PLACE HOLDER CAME LOOSE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SQUEAKING, THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE FOR SERVICE ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT TWICE, AN AIRBAG SENSOR, THE REAR WIPER ARM, THE OXYGEN SENSOR TWICE ,THE FIRST TIME AT 7000 MILES. THERE WERE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURES, WHEN THE CONTACT TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT HESITATED AND THEN SURGED. THE WEATHER STRIPPING ON THE REAR DOORS HAS BEEN REPAIRED THREE TIMES. THE ABS WOULD SKIP ON A BUMPY ROAD AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AT ONE POINT THE CONTACT COULD SMELL FUEL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND VEHICLE HAD VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT AIR VALVE BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE REAR DOOR HINGES SQUEAKED. THIS WINTER IT WON'T GO TO FULL VOLTAGE UNTIL A MINUTE ELAPSED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED. THE ORIGINAL FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3829, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23700.*AK THE BRAKES WERE INOPERATIVE, THE BELTS SQUEAKED, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, THE REAR WIPER WOULD ONLY WIPE THE MIDDLE OF THE BACK WINDSHIELD. A NEW FUEL NECK WAS INSTALLED. UPDATED 03/15/07. *JB
I OWN A 2005 ENVOY SLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS A RESULT OF A TIRE BLOWOUT. I WAS CHANGING LANES ON A CITY STREET. I MOVED FROM THE RIGHT LANE TO THE LEFT LANE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO ADJUST TO MOVING OVER. I THAN ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN TO FISH TAIL. I TRIED TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM SWERVING AND I HIT THE GUARD RAIL. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE REAR TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS FLAT. I DID NOT HIT THE GUARD RAIL WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR ONLY THE FRONT. I BELIEVE THE BLOWOUT WAS THE REASON THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL. I AM SAVING THE TIRE TO HAVE SOMEONE INSPECT IT JUST TO SEE IF MY CLAIMS COULD BE RIGHT. CONSUMER 2005 GMC ENVOY HAS A DEFECT THAT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED. VEHICLE STALLED.*TS THE HAZARD LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL WAS IN USE. THE DEALER REPLACED A BAD FLASHER. *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE VEHICLE DEFAULTED INTO THIRD GEAR AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS WAS DUE TO A COMPUTER PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SOLUTION. *AK
SEVERE CAR CRASH WITH MY LEASED 2005 GMC ENVOY. MUCH SIDE AND FRONT DAMAGE OCCURED, BUT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. GMC WILL BE SENDING SOMEONE FROM THE PROTECTION ALLEGATION DEPARTMENT TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE AIR BAGS WITHIN THE NEXT 14 DAYS. THE ACCIDENT OCCURED ON 4/22/05. I DO NOT WANT THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND GIVEN BACK TO ME FOR THE FOLLOWING 2 REASONS: THE VEHICLE INCURRED (IN MY OPINION, POLICE REPORT, ALLSTATE INSURANCE CO., STERLING AUTO BODY REPAI SHOP) ETC ... EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE 2ND REASON IS THE AIRBAGS, AS STATED, DID NOT DEPLOY. IF ANYONE WERE TO BE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. I HAVE READILY AT MY DISPOSAL ANY AND ALL ADDITIONAL INFO. WHICH I WILL GLADLY SUBMIT WHEN NECESSARY.
WHILE GOING OVER ANY TYPE OF BUMPS AT NIGHT AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE FOG LIGHTS FLICKERED ON/OFF. ALSO, THE LENS COVERING THE HEADLIGHTS WERE LOOSE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS. IT WAS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED.*AK
MY SON WAS KILLED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT ON 4/18/06. HE WAS EJECTED THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IN WHICH THE TOP PART OF THE DOOR WAS PULLED AWAY FROM THE ROOF OF THE CAR DURING THE ROLLOVER. BY LOOKING AT THE TIRE TRACKS OF THE ACCIDENT, HE WAS JUST ENTERING THE ON RAMP OF THE ROAD AND THE TRACKS SHOW NO SKID MARKS, SWERVING, ETC, JUST A STRAIGHT LINE INTO THE DITCH AS IF HE DIDNT HAVE CONTROL OF THE STEERING OR BRAKES, POSSIBLE STALLING ?? BOTH TIRES ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WERE FLATTENED. AIR BAGS WERE NEVER DEPLOYED. *NM
MY SEAT COVERS WERE ORIGINALLY CLOTH BUT AT TIME OF PURCHASE THEY WERE REPLACED WITH LEATHER SEAT COVERINGS AND THERE IS RECALL #06V417000 HAS ME VERY CONCERNED.
WHILE DRIVING DRIVER HEARD A LOUD BANKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WITH THE MEMORY SEATS AND MIRRORS. ON PRIOR YEAR ENVOYS, WHEN YOU PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE, THE SEATS AND MIRRORS WOULD RECALL TO THAT DRIVERS POSITION. NOW YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE 1 OR 2 BUTTON ON THE DOOR, WHILE IN PARK, TO RECALL THE SEAT AND MIRROR POSITIONS. THERE IS NO TIE WITH THE REMOTE AND THE MEMORY SEATS. I DON'T KNOW WHY GM WOULD DO AWAY WITH THIS FEATURE, BUT IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT AND IN MY OPINION - A BIG STEP BACKWARDS.*AK
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. MY WIFE WAS IN HER 2005 GMC ENVOY WHEN IT WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S TIRE, AND WAS DRIVEN INTO A CONCRETE POWER POLE AT 40 MPH HEAD ON. THE POWER LINES WERE KNOCKED DOWN. DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED, AND HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING, CAUSING A BUMP ON THE HEAD, A BLACK EYE AND A CUT LIP.*AK
I WAS DRIVING ALONE AND THE DASH BOARD LIGHT WENT OUT I AND THE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON I COULD NOT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER. I PULLED OVER AND COULD NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM CAR OR PUT THE CARD BACK INTO DRIVE .THE CAR SHOP HAD TO REROUTE SOME WIRE BUT I DON'T HAVE ANY AFTERMARKET ADD ONS. *JB
PURCHASED NEW 05 ENVOY XL 12/04. WINDSHIELD IS SO DEFECTIVE IT IS DIFIFCULT TO FOCUS OR SEE CLEARLY TO DRIVE. CAUSES EXTREME EYE STRAIN AND HEADACHE TO THE POINT OF BEING UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED WITH ANOTHER WINDSHIELD THEY FOUND AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. IT IS JUST AS DEFECTIVE. ENVOY IS EXTEMELY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T FOCUS CLEARLY THRU WINDSHIELD. IT WILL MAKE YOU LITERALLY SICK TO TRY AND DRIVE IT IT CAUSES INABILITY TO FOCUS CLEARLY, EXTREME EYE STRAIN/PAIN, MIGRAINE HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND NO ONE WANTS TO RIDE IN IT BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU SICK. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE...CAN'T SEE WELL. DEALERSHIP WON'T FIX. SAYS THEY HAVE A MEMO SAYING NOT TO FIX ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DEFECTIVE. WE HAVE WAITED 3MONTHS FOR A REP. TO BE AVAILABLE. SAY THEY HAVE NONE TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ARE REASSIGNING REPS SOON TO OUR AREA. THERE MUST BE SOMEONE FOR GMC WHO CAN FIX THIS DANGEROUS AND 'SICKENING' SITUATION. $40,000+ VEHICLE AND CAN'T DRIVE IT. IT IS SO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS YOU CAN'T SEE WELL TO FOCUS IT IS SO DISTORTED. EVERYTHING IS WAVY, OUT OF FOCUS AND HURTS YOUR EYES. TO TRY AND DRIVE IT ON A BRIGHT, SUNNY DAY IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AS THE BRIGHTNESS MAKES THE DISTORTION ALL THE WORSE. I HAVE HAD TO WEAR THREE PAIRS OF SUNGLASSES AT ONE TIME TRYING TO DARKEN IT ENOUGH TO DRIVE ON A SUNNY DAY. *AK
SMELL OF EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING. NOTICED ENGINE MADE A TICKING SOUND WHICH WENT AWAY AFTER ENGINE GOT WARM. BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO A SERVICE CENTER AND A DIAGNOSIS OF A CRACKED EXHAUST WAS MADE. HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHER TRAILBLAZER AND RNVOY OWNERS COMPLAINTS OF EXACT SAME ISSUE. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IN THE CAB I AM ENTERING THIS INTO THE SAFETY COMPLAINT DATABASE. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XL 370. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL AND OIL GAUGES WERE MALFUNCTIONING WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT SIX CYLINDERS HAD FAILED AND BOTH THE ENGINE AND OIL GAUGE SENSORS WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
