FUEL TANK GAUGE SENSOR DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. THIS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND BEING STRANDED OR MAY EVEN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL OR NOT START AT ALL. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. AFTER THE GAUGE HAS READ EMPTY FOR A WHILE, THE ENGINE LIGHT THEN COMES ON. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME 724.00 TO GET FIXED, B/C THE FUEL PUMP NEEDS REPLACING. *TR
I PARKED MY CAR AND WENT INTO A STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT I COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL. MY CAR WOULD NOT UNLOCK FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR AND WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR I SEEN THAT MY ELECTRICAL PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BLEW UP. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK IN MY 2006 GMC ENVOY. ONE DAY I FILLED THIS VEHICLE UP AND THE GAS GAUGE REMAINED ON EMPTY AND FOR A MONTH IT WOULD READ NORMAL SOMETIMES, BUT NOW IT STAYS ON EMPTY THIS HAS OCCURRED WITHIN THE LAST THREE MONTHS. I TOOK THIS CAR TO A GMC DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR,I HAVE 52,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY, SO THIS PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. *TR
VEHICLE GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. MIL LIGHT TURNS ON, REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT TURNS ON, STABILITRAK OFF DIC MESSAGE DISPLAYS, RESULTS IN LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE EMERGENCY SAFETY ACTIONS. CODES INCLUDE P2135, P0121, AND P060E. ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT, APPEARS MORE FREQUENTLY IN COLD OR WET CONDITIONS. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN 10 TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT. DEALER UNABLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE BY THROTTLE BODY CLEANING AND PCM REPLACEMENT. LATEST ATTEMPT IS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION, HE HEARD A LOUD WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE FUELED THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE STILL REGISTERED AN EMPTY TANK AND THE FUEL LIGHT WAS STILL ON. SHE DROVE TWO MILES AND THE VEHICLE REGISTERED FULL AND THEN IT WOULD MOVE BACK DOWN TO EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FUEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FUEL SYSTEM FUNCTIONED CORRECTLY FOR TWO YEARS AND FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
I OWN A 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. WE HAVE 44000 MILES ON IT. WHEN WE FILL THE GAS THE GAUGE READS FULL. BY THE TIME I PULL OFF THE LOT THE GAUGE STARTS TO DROP TO EMPTY. NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK. RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY IS A LITTLE SCARY FOR MY WIFE. NOT TO MENTION A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
HAD JUST FILLED THE FUEL TANK AND HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 5 MILES WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE HAD GONE DOWN TO THE EMPTY MARK SETTING OFF THE LOW FUEL ALARM. PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO CHECK THE GAS CAP, AND IT WAS INSTALLED, BUT LOOSE. DISCOVERED THE O RING GASKET WAS MISSING FROM CAP. DROVE ANOTHER 10 MILES AND WENT TO AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT CAP. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT EXTINGUISHED, BUT FUEL GAUGE SWEEPS BACK AND FORTH, SOMETIMES SETTING OFF LOW FUEL ALARM. WILL CALL DEALER ON MONDAY TO SEE IF THERE IS A SB FOR THIS. ALMOST OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
FUEL SENSOR OUT. THIS IS THE 2ND GMC I HAVE OWNED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH. THE FIRST WAS A 2005 GMC ENVOY SLT. *TR

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK IN MY 2006 GM ENVOY, MY FUEL GUAGE SHOWED EMPTY. THE GAS GUAGE WOULD BOUNCE BUT NOW STUCK ON EMPTY. *TT
RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN GAUGE INDICATED REMAINING FULL. SHORTLY AFTER THIS SITUATION THE GAUGE REGISTERED ERRATICALLY AND THEN EMPTY ALL THE TIME WITH ALARM SOUNDING RANDOMLY. EST. FOR REPAIRS IN THE $700 RANGE. *TR
2006 ENVOY DENALI. CONSUMER WRITES STATES GAS NEEDLE STOPPED FUNCTIONING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE GAS NEEDLE BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE IN THE BEGINNING AND SINCE THAT TIME, THE NEEDLE HAS BEEN STUCK ON EMPTY, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS A RESULT. IN MARCH OF 2009, WHEN THE CONSUMER STARED THE VEHICLE, IT SOUNDED AS IF THERE WAS SOMETHING METAL TUMBLING AROUND UNDER THE HOOD. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ON JUNE 10, 2010, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. AN INSPECTION REVEALED A STARTER WAS NEEDED. ALSO, AN ALIGNMENT WAS DONE AND THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS REPLACED. ON JUNE 12, 2010, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. AFTER 25 MINUTES AND OVER 50 ATTEMPTS, IT FINALLY CAME OUT OF PARK. THE CONSUMER DROVE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. SEPTEMBER 2010, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE REAR OF THE TRUCK WAS SITTING VERY LOW. THE REAR END AIR SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE AIR CONDITION RANDOMLY WORKED. THERE WERE TIMES WHERE THE AIR WOULD JUST START BLOWING AND NO BUTTONS WERE PUSHED. ALSO, THE DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE NOT COMING OUT OF PARK. *JB
MY 2006 GMC ENVOY'S GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN FLUCTUATING FROM EMPTY TO FULL ON FILL UPS FOR OVER 2 MONTHS AND NOW IT IS STUCK ON EMPTY EVEN WHEN TANK IS FILLED. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WOULD COST $800 TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FUEL PUMP. MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
GMC ENVOY XL - 2006 HAS POWERED DOWN THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE POWER DOWN. THE VEHICLE SLOWS TO 15 WITHIN ABOUT 60 SECONDS. THE FIRST TIME, IN APPROXIMATELY 2008, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TWO LANES TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND THE POWER CAME BACK ON WHILE I WAS STILL COASTING. I WAS TOLD BY GMC THAT WITHOUT THE LIGHT ON THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. THE SECOND TIME IN EARLY 2012, THE SAME THING HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR - THERE WAS NO BREAKDOWN LANE. WHEN I WENT TO GMC THE LIGHT WENT OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A USEFUL LIFE OF THE CAR AND IT WAS GETTING OLD (135,000) MILES AND I SHOULD REPLACE IT. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. IT HAPPENED AGAIN LAST WEEK ON THE INTERSTATE. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC, NON GMC, WHO COORDINATED WITH ANOTHER GMC DEALER FOR ME. THEY FIXED SOME CODES THEY SAID WERE A PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. WE DON'T KNOW IF IT'S REALLY FIXED. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. GMC HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO FIX THIS. I HAVE NOT SEEN SERVICE BULLETINS THAT RELATE TO THIS. POWERING DOWN TO A SPEED BELOW MINIMUM SPEED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN IT. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR
I HAVE HAD 4 BATTERY AND LIGHTS FLASH AND HARD DRAW ON ALT HAVE REPLACED ALT WITH NEW DELCO NEW LIGHTS STILL FLASH DRAWS LIGHTS DOWN. BEEN TO DEALER DEALER FROM2008 TO NOW AND THEY TELL ME I DON'T DRIVE VERY NEED TO DRIVE MORE CARE HAS 40"000 MILES THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I OWN A 2006 GMC ENVOY THAT WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH OF 2008. THE VEHICLE WORKED PERFECTLY UNTIL JUNE OF 2008, WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY. ANYTHING LESS THAN 3/4 FULL TANK WAS REGISTERING AS "EMPTY". AT THIS TIME, FEBRUARY 2009, THE GAUGE CONSTANTLY READS "EMPTY", EVEN AFTER FILLING UP. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ON AUTOMOTIVE FORUMS AND THE GMC WEBSITE, HOWEVER, NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE FUEL FLOAT THAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. I PERSONALLY CANNOT AFFORD $300 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO CARRYING PAPER AND PENCIL TO TRY AND MONITOR MY FUEL CONSUMPTION AND MPG SO I DO NOT RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN. *TR
I AM WRITING IN REGARD TO A FULL SIZED FAMILY VEHICLE THAT I LEASED IN 2006. I LEASED A 3 ROW 2006 ENVOY DENALI XL BY GM. I ALREADY HAD A 14 YEAR OLD SON AND DID NOT THINK I WAS ABLE TO HAVE MORE CHILDREN. HOWEVER, I HAPPILY DISCOVERED THAT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE EXPECTING IN MARCH OF 2007. THE ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE IS THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE THE LATCH SYSTEM AVAILABLE IN THE CENTER OF THE SECOND ROW, WHICH IS WHERE I BELIEVE THE CARSEAT IS SAFEST. IRONICALLY, MY HUSBAND HAS A 2000 GMC EXTENDED CAB WHICH HAS THE LATCH SYSTEM IN ALL THREE SEATS OF THE 1/2 SECOND ROW. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, GM DIRECTLY, ETC. NO ONE HAS A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. MY ARGUMENT IS THAT IF IN A CASH WITH THE CURRENT VEHICLE SPECS, THE SIDE AIRBAGS COULD DEPLOY, THUS HARMING MY DAUGHTER IN THE SIDE POSITION. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THIS LACK OF THE LATCH SYSTEM IN THE CENTER IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY SUPPORT YOU COULD PROVIDE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND PARKED IT OVERNIGHT. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A HEATING RESISTOR THAT MELTED SOME OF THE WIRES IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT NOT TO ACTIVATE THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM ON LOW POWER; ONLY MEDIUM AND HIGH DUE TO THE POWER NEEDED BY THE BLOWER WHEN RUNNING ON LOW. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE WIRING HARNESS, THE FUEL GAUGE BECAME INOPERABLE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. PRIOR TO THE FAILURES, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE VALVE, HEAD GASKET, TIMING BELT, AND CYLINDER HEAD. THE FAILURES RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT BEING DRIVEN DUE TO THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE CONTACT WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
When starting the vehicle it turns over as if it wasn't going to start then it starts then put it in drive and it revs up without moving seems like its going to to pull out but barely moves while driving down the highway in curves it p pulls tords traffic like real hard my drivers side mirror hit someone On a corner because of the suspension the going up and down hill it almost put me in the ditch because of jerking

THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER TAKEN FOR FAILURE DIAGNOSTICS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
STARTING IN DECEMBER 2007 EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK THE SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON, AFTER A FEW MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY, THEN IT WILL READ SOMETHING ELSE. SO I HAVE TO ALWAYS RESET MY MILEAGE SO THAT I KNOW HOW FAR I HAVE WENT. THIS GMC IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. IT DRIVES ME NUTS WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT WILL FINALLY RESET TO WHERE THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN I HAVE TO FILL IT AGAIN. I ALMOST DREAD GOING TO PUT GAS IN. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. UPON REVIEW ON THE INTERNET, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL GAUGE INDICATORS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM, AND IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY $500 TO REPAIR. MOST COMPLAINTS ARE HAPPENING AROUND 45-50 THOUSAND MILES... *TR
AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR BEGAN TO ACT ERRATICALLY. AT FIRST, IT WOULD READ EMPTY OCCASIONALLY AND, ON IT'S OWN, RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IT BEGAN TO READ EMPTY IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK UNTIL ABOUT A EIGHTH OF A TANK HAD BEEN USED. EVENTUALLY, IT FAILED ALTOGETHER AND ALWAYS READS EMPTY. THIS CONDITION CONFUSES THE ENGINE COMPUTER CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO LIGHT FREQUENTLY. *TR
I'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW IN FEB 06. MY FUEL GAUGE HASN'T WORKED IN 3 YEARS. IT CONSTANTLY READS EMPTY WITH THE LIGHT ON. I HAVE TO REFUEL EVERY 300 MILES TO ENSURE I DON'T RUN OUT OF GAS. I WAS QUOTED $500 TO FIX IT AND I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. THEREFORE, IT CONTINUES TO BE FAULTY.
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT LAST NIGHT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE, A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI WAS TOTALED, BUT NEITHER AIR BAD DEPLOYED. *TR
THE FUEL TANK SENSOR MODULE ON MY 2006 GMC ENVOY FAILED CAUSING THE TANK LEVEL INDICATOR TO FLUCTUATE AND READ IMPROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY ABOUT 41,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS OLD. *TR THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE MODULE, AT A COST OF $700. THIS IS AN EXCESSIVE PRICE FOR A MODULE THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER THAN TWO YEARS.
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR (2006 GMC ENVOY XLT) IT WAS FLOATING BACK AND FORTH AT FIRST THEN IT RESTS ON "E" AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE ALARM KEEPS RINGING THAT MY FUEL LEVEL IS LOW. IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MORE THAN ONCE. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW IT DOESN'T FLOAT AT ALL IT JUST STAYS ON "E" AND THE LIGHT AND BELLS ARE ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING EVEN THOUGH FUEL HAD BEEN DISPENSED INTO THE FUEL TANK. WHILE DRIVING, THE FUEL GAUGE READING FLUCTUATED WHICH CAUSED DIFFICULTY IN DETERMINING THE ACTUAL FUEL TANK LEVEL. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATIVE. THERE WERE ALSO ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE RADIO NOT TO FUNCTION AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE FUEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY BY THE DEALER AND THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS PERFORMED IN RELATION TO THE OTHER FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. UPDATED 4/2/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILED TWICE. ALSO, AI =R BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS FIXED BY MOVING THE SRS WIRING UNDER THE DRIVER'S SAT. THE RADIO AND DASH LIGHTS WERE REPLACED AS WELL, DUE TO INFERIOR PARTS. UPDATD 04/16/12
WHILE DRIVING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. FUEL TANK GAUGE STARTED TO CONTINUALLY SHIFT FROM WHATEVER STATE THE FUEL TANK WAS IN TO EMPTY THEN AFTER SOME TIME REVERT BACK TO NORMAL FUEL CAPACITY AT THE TIME. CONTACTED ONSTAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY STATED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. *JB
I HAVE EXPERIENCED A CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT DISPLAY ON WHAT IS NOW THE THIRD TIME FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FOR EACH OF THESE THREE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYS ON MY 2006 GMC ENVOY WAS FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK. THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM, GM REPLACED THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR UNIT UNDER WARRANTY. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE IN THE SUMMER OF 2009 WITH APPROXIMATELY 65000 MILES ON IT. I REPLACED THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR MYSELF TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AGAIN TODAY (9-2-11) I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON & A CODE CHECK REVEALED A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR. TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI. THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS APPLIED WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO VIBRATE AT ANY SPEED. IT FELT AND SOUNDED AS IF IT NEEDED TO SHIFT GEARS, AS IN A MANUAL VEHICLE, BUT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. IT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN NOVEMBER 2006. TWO DEALERS STATED THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT REFERENCED THE FAILURE, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO CORRECT IT. WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE FORWARD AND A NOISE COULD BE HEARD. THE NOISE FREQUENTLY OCCURRED AFTER A QUICK STOP. THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURRED DURING THE SAME PERIOD OF TIME. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE, AND STATED THEY HAVE REPAIRED THE NOISE, BUT IT CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000, AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,118.*AK
I WAS DRIVING ALONG INTERSTATE 69 NEAR FORT WAYNE IN MY LEASED 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI WITH MY BOSS ON COMPANY BUSINESS WHEN A CAR FROM BEHIND ME PULLED ALONG SIDE HONKING THEIR HORN AND YELLING FOR ME TO PULL OVER AND GET OUT OF MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS ON FIRE. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, GOT OUT, AND SAW FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF MY VEHICLE. WE CALLED 911 WHO DISPATCHED FORT WAYNE FIRE AND INDIANA STATE POLICE PERSONNEL. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP. BOTH A THIRD PARTY INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR AND A GENERAL MOTORS INVESTIGATOR CONCUR THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED CAUSING LUBRICANT TO SPRAY ONTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND EXHAUST SYSTEM IGNITING A FIRE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ADMITTED TO ME THAT THIS IS A DEFECT I COULD NOT POSSIBLY KNOWN ABOUT NOR WAS IT MY FAULT IN ANY WAY. GENERAL MOTORS WANTS TO "REPAIR" THE VEHICLE AND PUT ME BACK IN IT. I'VE TOLD THEM MY LIFE AND MY BOSS'S LIFE WERE AT STAKE BECAUSE OF THIS FIRE WHICH IF NO ONE HAD WARNED ME ABOUT AS I WAS DRIVING, THE CONSEQUENCE COULD HAVE BEEN TWO FATALITIES AS I DID NOT KNOW THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE AS I DROVE ALONG THE HIGHWAY. I'VE ASKED GENERAL MOTORS TO DO THE RIGHT THING, BREAK MY LEASE, AND THEY CAN HAVE THIS ENVOY TO DO WITH AS THEY PLEASE. TO DATE, THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ACCOMMODATE ME. FUEL GAGE STOPPED WORKING. FUEL GAGE NEEDLE STAYED ON E AFTER FILLING UP. STALLED IN LEFT LANE OF INTERSTATE 80 IN DENVILLE,NEW JERSEY WITH MY TWO DAUGHTERS. THEIR AGES AT TIME OF INCIDENT WERE EIGHT AND ELEVEN. ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY TRACTOR TRAILERS. ALL THREE OF WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE TRUCK DRIVER HAD NOT BEEN ALERT AND SWERVED TO AVOID US AS I SLOWED AND NAVIGATED TO RIGHT SHOULDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE AIRBAG ACTIVATION LIGHT TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. ALSO, THEY FOUND A BOX OF KLEENEX UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM APPROXIMATELY THREE OTHER TIMES. THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT WILL NOT REACTIVATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIRBAG OCCUPANT SENSOR SYSTEM WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SHE WAS TOO SMALL TO ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG OCCUPANT SENSOR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 26,000 AS OF 05-02-07. *AK
DEAR SIR, TODAY WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 ENVOY SUV (APPROX 40,000 MILES ON THE OD ) I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY. ABOUT 3/4 WAY THROUGH THE TURN THE CAR ACCELERATED FULL SPEED WITHOUT MY HELP. SINCE THE ROADWAY WAS WET (NOT RAINING AT THE TIME) THE CAR SPED AND SPUN VIOLENTLY TO THE LEFT AND CRASHED INTO THE CONCRETE BARRIER SEPARATING THE FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. WE ( MY WIFE AND I) HIT THE BARRIER WITH A STRONG IMPACT BUT SUFFERED NO SERIOUS INJURY. (WE WERE BELTED) THIS AUTOMOBILE IS USED AS A TOWED VEHICLE AS WE TRAVEL THE COUNTRY IN A MOTORHOME. THE CAR HAS A VARY HEAVY AND STOUT STEEL TOWING BASE PLATE ON THE FRONT. THE BASE PLATE WAS BENT BADLY BUT IT PROTECTED THE CAR FROM SERIOUS DAMAGE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR SOME 42 YEARS WITHOUT EVER HAVING A CHARGEABLE ACCIDENT. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A CONDITION. IF THE BARRIER HAD NOT BEEN THERE WE WOULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH CARS IN THE OTHER LANES STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. WE REALIZE THAT "SUDDEN ACCELERATION" HAS IN THE PAST BEEN BLAMED ON DRIVERS. I ASSURE YOU THAT THIS CAR TOOK OFF AT FULL THROTTLE AND THIS DRIVER DID NOT TRIGGER SUCH A RESPONSE. CIRCUMSTANCES PREVENTED THIS FROM BEING A MAJOR TA WITH INJURIES. I HAVE NO AXE TO GRIND AND SEEK NO COMPENSATION OF ANY FORM. NOW HOWEVER, I AM WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT MAY HAPPEN. THE ACCELERATION STOPPED UPON IMPACT AND I DROVE THE CAR ABOUT A MILE TO MY CAMPSITE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED THERE HAVE BEEN REPEATED ISSUES WITH THE SERVICE LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED REPEATEDLY THROUGH 2012 WHERE A VARIETY OF LIGHTS COME ON. SOME STOP THE CAR FROM STARTING... IN 2006, SERVICE STABILITRACK CONSISTENTLY COMES ON ALONG WITH 3-56 OTHER LIGHTS AT THE SAME TIME. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE CONNECTORS ARE DIRTY, THAT I NEEDED A BATTERY REPLACEMENT WHICH WAS UNTRUE. OTHER TIMES THE CAR HAS GONE FOR SERVICE, NOONE REALLY HAS THE RIGHT FIX. 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI PURCHASED 12/05. BEGINNING AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT ABRUPTLY INTO 1ST GEAR AFTER THE CAR HAD STOPPED MOVING. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT WHEN IT DOES IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR HAS BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. I'M A RESERVIST IN THE MILITARY AND IT REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE A DISTANCE TO MY BASE ONCE A MONTH. WHILE DRIVING TO MY DUTY LOCATION, I REALIZED THAT MY 2006 ENVOY RWD WAS DRIVING FUNNY LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. AT THE TIME, MY FUEL GAUGE READ 1/2 TANK. THANKFULLY I WAS APPROACHING AN EXIT AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF AND GO TO A GAS STATION. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS ESPECIALLY SINCE I THOUGHT I HAD GAS. THE GAS STATION ALSO HAD AN AUTO SHOP. THE MECHANIC COULDN'T EVEN FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. HE ASKED ME IF I WAS SURE THERE WAS GAS IN IT. I TOLD HIM YES BC IT READ HALF A TANK. WE PUT ABOUT 5 GALLONS IN THE TANK AND THE ENGINE STARTED RIGHT UP. WHEN I CHECKED THE FUEL GAUGE AGAIN, IT READ IT WAS EMPTY. SO I FILLED UP THE TANK, GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND STARTED THE ENGINE BUT THE FUEL GAUGE STILL READ EMPTY EVEN AFTER I FILLED IT UP WITH GAS. I WAS SO FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAD TO BE AT DRILL AND I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. I JUST PRAYED THAT I MADE IT THERE SAFELY. I DID..AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF DRILL WAS OVER, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE FUEL GAUGE READ FULL BUT AFTER DRIVING 3 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND THE GAUGE WENT BACK TO EMPTY. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO A GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHECKED THE CODE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE FUEL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ENVOYS. AND SINCE I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, IT WOULD COST ABOUT $800 TO REPAIR. I CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER IT EVEN AFTER I WENT OVER MY ENTIRE ORDEAL WITH THEM. I HAVE NOT PAID TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I THINK GM SHOULD HAVE PRIDE IN THEIR PRODUCTS AND REPLACE THIS ISSUE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES BUT MY FUEL GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER I FILL IT UP WITH GAS. I HAVE TO FILL UP EVERY OTHER DAY FOR FEAR THAT I WILL RUN OUT OF GAS AGAIN AND END UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD STRANDED. ON DRILL WEEKENDS, I HAVE TO RENT A CAR BC I CAN'T RELY ON ENVOY. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY GMC ENVOY INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS JUST A FLAW IN THE DESIGN BUT IT IS A VERY ANNOYING FLAW. THE NOISE IS A CONSTANT SQUEAL THAT ONLY GOES AWAY IF I TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF OVERDRIVE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE DURING THE FIRST 3 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MUST BE DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE, AND THEN NORMAL ACCELERATION BEGINS AFTER DRIVING 3 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 05/02/06 WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON 07/20/06 AND DETERMINED THAT THE CLUTCH FAN THAT COOLS THE ENGINE CREATED THE NOISE BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHO FINALLY IDENTIFIED THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION TO PERFORM IN THE DOCUMENTED MANNER. UPDATED 08/15/06. 8JB

JERKS ARE STRONG ENOUGH THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE REAR ENDED. THEN STARTED NOTICING THE JERKS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. 5. OIL GAUGE BEGAN FLUCTUATING FROM HIGH TO LOW. WAS AGAIN TOLD IT WAS A BAD INSTRUMENT PANEL .6. REAR AIR SUSPENSION BEGAN DEFLATING WHEN VEHICLE WOULD SIT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. LOW ENOUGH THAT TIRES ALMOST TOUCH TOP OF WHEEL WELL. COMPRESSOR WOULD COME ON AND REAR END WOULD COME BACK UP TO NORMAL. NOW IT DEFLATES OVER SHORT PERIODS OF TIME AND TAKES A CONSIDERABLY LONGER AMOUNT OF TIME TO REINFLATE. I AM NOW NOTICING THAT IT IS DEFLATING SOME WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU HIT A BUMP YOU CAN FEEL THE TIRE HIT THE TOP OF WHEEL WELL. DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE JERKING. WAS TOLD THERE WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM CAUSING THINGS TO COME ON AND OFF. FUEL GAUGE IS BEING REPLACED FREE AS A DEFECTIVE PART. WAS TOLD REAR SUSPENSION WAS MOST LIKELY A DEAD COMPRESSOR AND TIRES COULD POSSIBLY RUB OR BLOW OUT IF SUSPENSION DEFLATES WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE VEHICLE MADE NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED OR WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED. PURCHASED A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS PROJECT A BEAM OF LIGHT STRAIGHT UP FROM EACH LIGHT INTO THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS FIELD OF VIEW. IT IS NOT NOTICEABLE DURING DRY CONDITIONS, BUT WHEN THERE IS MIST, SNOW OR FOG IT IS VERY VISIBLE AND DISTRACTING. YOU CAN SEE THIS EFFECT BY PARKING NEXT TO A BUILDING OR PARKING IN YOUR GARAGE. IT LIGHTS UP THE CEILING IN THE GARAGE VERY NICE. I THOUGHT HEADLIGHT WERE TO PROJECT OUT, NOT UP. IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE TREES ARE LIT UP BY THE BRIGHT LIGHTS. MY DEALER CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK ANOTHER TRUCK, WHICH DID THE SAME THING. GM THEN SAID THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THIS IS MY 3RD NEW GMC TRUCK, AND NONE OF THE OTHERS DID THIS.
