I was living in my car and the windows and door lock cluster caught on fire I had to tear my door panel off to get to the source and unplug it I believe there is a major electrical issue with this vehicle I shouldn't be driving it also my heater fan stopped working on 4 and 5 works on 1 2 and 3 but not 4 or 5 please help me get this recalled so I can finally get this vehicle fixed right this is so dangerous I could have burnt up in my car 7
AIR CONDITION BLOWER MOTOR CAUGHT FIRE IN DASH AND BURNT THE VEHICLE
WE HAVE A 2008 ENVOY. WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2008. THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS QUIT US 5 TIMES. WE USUALLY HAVE SOME WARNING. THE FIRST 3 TIMES , THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT I COULD EVENTUALLY START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT TO A MECHANIC TO BE CHECKED OUT. THE 4TH TIME WE WERE HEADING OUT OF TOWN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY HUSBAND PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAR QUIT. WOULD NOT START, HAD TO TOW IT TO MECHANIC. THIS LAST TIME, NO WARNING, JUST QUIT AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AFTER SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET FOR 30 MINUTES OR SO, DROVE IT HOME, QUIT AGAIN AND HAD TO TOW IT TO MECHANIC. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY BY MYSELF. AFRAID THIS VEHICLE COULD CAUSE A WREAK, AND POSSIBLE KILL OR INJURE US OR OTHERS. THERE AREN'T VERY MANY MILES ON IT, SO IT IS NOT A WORN OUT VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RANDOM ELECTRICAL SHORT AND THE LOW BEAMS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO CHANGED THE LOW BEAMS, RELAY, SWITCH AND CHECKED THE FUSES, BUT THE LOW BEAMS CONTINUED TO RANDOMLY SHORT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PREVENT THE RANDOM FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAMPAIGN ID 14V-755. MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THIS CAMPAIGN OR GM RECALL. I AM HAVING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE LOW BEAMS SHUTTING OFF AT NIGHT AND HAS HAPPENED TWICE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
ON OR ABOUT DEC 17, 2014, WE WERE LEAVING A SCHOOL FUNCTION AROUND 7 PM. THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS WENT OUT UNSUSPECTING; WE ONLY HAD ACCESS TO HIGH BEAM LIGHTS. WE STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES TO CHECK CONNECTIONS BUT NO RESULT. WE ALSO TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF/ON TO TRY AND RESET BUT NO RESULT. HAVE NOT HAD ANOTHER OCCURRENCE. WE LEARNED VIA NEWS THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2006-2009 GMC ENVOY. COLONIAL AUTO CENTER GMC DEALER (CHARLOTTESVILLE) IS ADVISING THERE IS NO RECALL...THEY WERE CALLED ON 01/21/15. ALSO, A "SERVICE STIBI CONTROL" MESSAGE ALWAYS APPEARS. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED BY A COUPLE DEALERS. COLONIAL CHANGES A BOOSTER AND MESSAGE CONTINUES TO COME ON... *TR
I WILL BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY CAR WOULD JUST SHUT OFF ON ME.I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO START IT AND AFTER A FEW TIMES TRYING IT WOULD START.I HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE KEY OVER AND OVER A FEW TIMES TO GET THE IGNITION TO START.IT HAS STALLED ON ME 5 TIMES.SOME TIMES IT WILL CRANK RIGHT UP AND OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE KEY OVER AND OVER FOR IT TO CRANK.WHEN I TURN THE KEY IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING NO SOUND AT ALL.BUT IF I KEEP TRYING IT WOULD START UP.I HAD THE STARTER AND BATTERY CHECKED BUT THOSE WERE FINE. *TR
ENGINE STALLED WHEN MAKING A TURN. LOST ALL POWDER THE DASH PANEL HAD NO LIGHT LIT UP.I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO CONTROL DUE TO LOW SPEED. TURNED KEY OFF AND THE IT RESTARTED WHEN KEY TURNED BACK ON. ON MARCH 19, 2014 TOOK IT TO BENNTT CHEVROLET BURICK FOR CHECK. THEY FOUND FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH AND IT FOR $259.88. THE 2008 ENVOYS WERE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND SOMEONE SHOULD CHECK ALL 2008 ENVOYS STILL ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,984.

DRIVING ALONG STREET AND ALL ENGINE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND ENGINE STOPPED. LOST POWER STEERING AND HAD TO FIGHT TO GET OVER TO SIDE OF STREET AND SAFETY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME EACH TIME THE IGNITION SWITCH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. *TR
SPEEDOMETER HAS WEIRD SOUNDS LIKE BIRDS FLAPPING WINGS. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. GM USA CLAIMS THAT IT IS A DEFECT THAT THEY CANNOT REPAIR. THE ENVOY IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. REALLY ISN'T ACCEPTABLE. MAKES ONE WONDER IF THE READINGS ON MILEAGE, AND SPEED ARE ACCURATE. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC @ APPROXIMATELY 55MPH. SUDDENLY NOTED LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING, WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON ( UNTIL MANAGED TO GET CAR TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND PUT IN PARK, THEN MULTIPLE ICONS LIGHTING UP). HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, THEY ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE MOST PROBABLE CAUSE. OF NOTE, CAR WENT ON TO HAVE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDING REPLACED @ 74,218 MILES. THIS TIME I WAS AGAIN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH, BUT THIS TIME SUDDENLY FELT CAR LOSING POWER, AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONCE AGAIN. I MANAGED TO GET TO BERM, PUT IN PARK, WITH MULTIPLE ICONS THEN LIGHTING UP, AS IF "SHORTING OUT". SHUT IGNITION OFF, TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART, HAD TOWED. -AT 105,162 MILES, AGAIN REPLACEMENT OF SAME PART, AFTER HAVING FULLY LOST POWER WITHOUT ANY WARNING THIS TIME, THOUGH THIS TIME OCCURRED WHILE GOING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY. ********OF NOTE, I DO NOT HAVE A "HEAVY" KEY RING NOR WAS THERE JARRING FROM ROUGH ROADS ON ANY OF THESE 3 OCCASIONS. *TR
