WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT UP. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OF THE FREEWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. SOMETIMES THESE LIGHTS GO OFF AND SOMETIMES THEY REMAIN LIGHTED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I FEAR THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND HAVE TAKEN THIS MATTER TO A MECHANIC. THE BRAKES WERE EXAMINED AND HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THIS IS VERY STARTLING TO THE DRIVER AND OF GREAT CONCERN. THIS APPEARS ON INTERNET SEARCHES AND IT APPEARS THAT 100,000 PLUS INDIVIDUALS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND OBVIOUSLY THIS MATTER HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THERE ATTENTION. YET THEY CLAIM THEY ARE UNFAMILIAR AND WANT TO CHARGE $600 TO DIAGNOSE AND THEN LIKELY MORE TO FIX. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A LIE AS THERE IS NO WAY THAT ONE COULD BE READING SO MUCH ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET IF IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM IN THE GMC SIERRA TRUCKS. SOME CLAIM IT IS A FAULTY CIRCUIT BOARD WHILE OTHERS HAVE LOST THE USE OF THEIR BRAKES. THIS IS OF GREAT CONCERN. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND SOMETIMES AT HIGH SPEEDS ON A FREEWAY.

ABS SYSTEM BOARD - SOLENOID SOLDER CONNECTIONS VIBRATE LOOSE CAUSING FAULT CODES. ABS LIGHT AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT REMAIN LIT ON DASH. TRUCK BRAKES WORK BUT WITH NO ABS ON TRUCK. ABS CONTROLLER WAS ONLY PUT ON TWO YEARS OF GMC AND CHEVY TRUCKS 99-01. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) BY WEHR FORD (11311 US-60 BUS, MOUNTAIN GROVE, MO 65711, (417) 926-3192). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER ONLY CLEANED THE ABS SENSOR FOR CORROSION. YEARS LATER, THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND DUE TO INTERNAL CORROSION REGARDING THE SENSOR. ALSO, THE ABS KEPT INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATING AND CAUSED EXTREME DIFFICULTY WHEN BRAKING. THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO HAVE TO REVERSE MORE THAN TWICE TO PREVENT A CRASH. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND INDICATED THAT THE ABS SENSOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
INSTRUMENT PANEL WORKS VERY RARELY, CAN'T TELL HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING OR WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN AND THE ANTILOCK BRAKES MAKE IT SO THE VEHICLE WON'T STOP WHEN YOU ARE MOVING AT LOW SPEEDS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT RUSH HOUR APPROACHING TRAIN STATION. MANY PEOPLE WERE WALKING ALONG SIDEWALKS AND SOME IN THE STREET. I WENT TO USE MY HORN TO WARN THEM OF MY COMING AND IT FAILED TO WORK. ON THE WEEKEND I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK TO REPLACE THE HORNS . I TOOK THEM OFF AND I TESTED THEM. THEY BOTH WORKED. I NOTICED THE MOUNTING AREA FOR THE HORN BRACKETS WERE CORRODED. I CLEANED THEM UP AND THEY WORKED AGAIN. THEN AFTER A DAY OR SO THE HORN STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THE HORN WORKS SOMETIMES NOW BUT MOST OFTEN THEY DON'T. *NM
THE FUEL GAUGE QUITS AT VARIOUS TIMES, READING ZERO AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. IT SEEMS TO BE A RELAY PROBLEM IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE OFF DURATION IS GETTING LONGER AND IS NOT REALTED TO FUEL TANK LEVEL NOR TO VEHICLE MOVEMENT. SHUTTING THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND THEN BACK TO ON WILL USUALLY CURE THE PROBLEM. SOME TIMES WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE COMES ON THE LEVEL RISES VERY SLOWLY, TAKING SEVERAL MINUTES TO REACH THE FULL LEVEL WITH THE TANK FULL.
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH UP ON INCLINE THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVER SLOWED DOWN AND JUMPED OUT THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. *AK
I HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE PURCHASED. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE CENTER 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. NOW THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE BOOSTER CABLES TO START THE CABLES BEGAN TO SMOKE AND THE COPPER WIRES MELTED. IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE CABLES BEFORE THE OTHER CAR IGNITED I WAS BURNED. ADDITIONALLY THE TRUCK KEYS WERE NOT IN THE ON POSITION. THAT IS I HAD NOT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE YET. *NLM
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF RAPIDLY. DEALER THINKS ALTERNATOR IS AT FAULT. *AK
IGNITION TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT CRANK. BATTERY/STARTER/ALTERNATOR CHECKED OUT OK. SECURITY LIGHT ON DASH LIGHTS UP WHILE DRIVING. MECHANIC STATES LIKELY A SECURITY SYSTEM OR COMPUTER PROBLEM, STATED DEALER WOULD CALL GM TECH SUPPORT FOR HELP. MULTIPLE CALLS TO DEALERSHIP ARE NOT RETURNED. TRUCK STILL REFUSES TO CRANK AT RANDOM TIMES, WHEN ENGINE COLD OR WARM. SECURITY LIGHT STILL ACTIVATES RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, AND LIGHT STAYS ON TILL TRUCK SHUT OFF. TRUCK WILL NORMALLY CRANK AFTER 10 TO 30 MINUTES OF INACTIVITY. FUEL LINE CHECKED OUT OK.*AK
