The contact owns a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the spare tire detached from underneath. After a visual inspection of the underneath of the vehicle, he observed that the spare tire hoist and frame were severely corroded, potentially compromising the structural integrity of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 197,000.
ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND FRONT LEFT OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. IF AIRBAG GOES OFF SHARDS ARE GOING TO FLY AT FACES. SAFETY HAZARD IF THE AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED AND IS NOT AESTHETICALLY PLEASING MAKING A FINE GM VEHICLE LOOK SLOPPY
left side frame is defective, I have welded 4 patches on frame.from the bend by wheel well and fuel tank to front wheel well all by were frame has bracket welded and bottom of inside of frame . if hit on left side can cause frame to crumble and fuel tank to explode. it needs to be looked at for recall. i have spoken to many oweners of 2007 to 2009 gm trucks. and all have same problem. my truck only has around 112 thousand on it this is 3rd year i had to repair.
THE DASH BOARD HAS RANDOM HAIR LINE CRACKS THROUGHOUT THAT HAVE RECENTLY SHOWN UP. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT
THE PANELS OVER THE REAR WHEELS ARE BOTH RUSTING THROUGH. BUBBLES ON THE PAINT AS IT RUST TO THE SURFACE. TRUCK IS NOT DRIVEN DURING WINTER SNOW MONTHS IT STAYS IN GARAGE OVER THE WINTER MONTHS. SURPRISED IT WOULD RUST THROUGH ALREADY. IS THERE ANY BODY WARRANTY FOR RUST BEFORE 10 YEARS?
FRAME AT SWAY BAR MOUNT AND TRANSMISSION CROSSMEMBER RUSTING AWAY ON BOTH SIDES OF TRUCK
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE TRUCK AT THE HOOD AND TOP OF THE TRUCK. THE HOOD PEELED FIRST 2015. THE TOP OF THE TRUCK MAY, 2016
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. ONE CRACK IS ALONG THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THE SECOND IS ALONG THE DRIVERS SIDE IN FRONT OF THE INSTRUMENT GLUSTER. THE FIRST CRACK APPEARED AS I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY AND THE OTHER WAS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. I AM WORRIED THAT THE AIRBAG CRACK COULD CAUSE SHARP PIECES OF THE DASH TO PROJECT IN THE CASE OF A DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND EXPANDED TO A GAPING HOLE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD HAD A CRACK FROM THE DASHBOARD TO THE AIR BAGS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS LIABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,197.
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO THE RIGHT OF THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY. THE TRUCK IS RARELY DRIVEN, AND HAS JUST PASSED 30,000 MILES. THE CRACK APPEARED WHILE THE TRUCK SAT IN A STATIONARY POSITION IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE.
FAILURE OF UNDERBODY/FRAME RUST UNDERCOATING. THE UNDERCOATING HAS COMPLETELY FLAKED OFF THE FRAME OF MY TRUCK WITH 90K MILES. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE WHICH HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE DAY ONE. THE VEHICLE IS ALSO RUSTING THRU FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC ABOUT THIS ISSUE BOTH IN PERSON & ON THE PHONE. THEY HAVE DENIED ANY LIABILITY IN THIS MATTER.
I HAVE A LARGE SECTION OF MY DASH PAD BROKEN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I ALSO HAVE A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED FROM ABUSE BUT FROM INFERIOR MATERIALS. IT APPEARED SOMETIME IN 2015 WITH ABOUT 130,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE NEW. MY CONCERN IS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, ALONG WITH THE DANGEROUS TAKATA AIRBAGS THAT I'M STILL WAITING TO BE REPLACED, WILL PLASTIC BE SENT THROUGH THE AIR FROM AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT?, OR WILL WE WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO BE INJURED OR KILLED TO GET GM TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION.BY THE WAY GM HAS SENT ME A RECALL NOTICE AND TOLD ME THEY ARE WAITING ON PARTS. THAT HAS BEEN OVER 3 MONTHS AGO. I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER TRUCK FOR AIRBAG RECALL.JUST FOR THE RECORD MY WIFES 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 RECEIVED A CRACK IN THE DASH AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES. THIS IS AN EPIDEMIC BUT I SURE GM WILL ESCAPE AGAIN JUST LIKE IN THE PAST. IT TAKES ONE SMALL FRAGMENT IN THE RIGHT PLACE SUCH AS AN EYE TO CHANGE SOMEONES LIFE FOREVER. JUST THINK IF IT WAS SOMEONE YOU LOVED SITTING IN THAT TRUCK.

DASH CRACKED TOP LEFT CORNER PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM SIMPLY GOOGLE GMC CRACKED DASH AND YOU SHALL SEE. IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS PLASTIC SHRAPNEL WOULD BE SENT ALL OVER THE CABIN. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT GM IS IGNORING A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE WINDOW HAS TO BE ROLLED DOWN IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.... BASED ON THE GMC FORUMS I HAVE READ THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. THE REPLACEMENT COSTS CAN RUN FROM $200-$800 DUE TO PLASTIC PIECES AND CABLES BEING USED THAT MELT AND BREAK EASILY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF SOMEONE WERE TO EVER GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THEY NEED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE QUICKLY THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IF THAT IS THE ONLY OPTION TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT. THEY WILL HAVE TO KICK THE WINDOW OUT IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE TRUCK AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THIS HAS APPENDED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. *TR
I JUST READ THE SAFETY NOTICE FOR GMC 2007 YUKON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES DELAMINATING AND CREATING SHARP CUTTING EDGES (EA 10004). THE EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED ON MY 2008 GMC DENALI SIERRA (DRIVER SIDE) - I'VE SLICED MY FINGER A 3RD TIME AND AM NOW HAVING THE HANDLE REPLACED AT A COST OF $240. WHEN I CALLED GMC CUSTOMER COMPLAINT LINE THEY OFFERED NO HELP JUST EXCUSES...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE...WOW, NO WONDER GM WENT BANKRUPT!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA. WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE A FRAME WAS FRACTURED IN HALF ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
