THE AUTOMATIC BRAKE ASSIST LOCKS UP THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THE WHEEL STILL TURNS BUT THE BRAKE OVERHEATS AND STARTS SMOKING AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 30 TO 40 MPH. NORMAL BRAKING AT STOPLIGHTS AND SUDDENLY FELT LIKE A TIRE HAD GONE FLAT. WHEN I CHECKED, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS SMOKING. WE HAD THE CALIPERS AND PADS REPLACED, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM
SERVICE STABILITRAX. AND LIGHT AND TRANSACTION CONTROL. SOMETIMES FOLLOWED BY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. STABILITRAX GOES OUT, SOMETIMES REDUCING SPEED AND PUTTING CAR INTO SAFE MODE. I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAX, ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE WINTERY MIX. WHEN TURNING OFF HIGHWAY, THERE WAS NO TRACTION CONTROL TO KICK IN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE PARKED, THE TIRE PRESSURE, ABS, ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
