The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a red traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle stalled. The message "Conditions not Available to Change Gear" was displayed. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the residence. The contact stated that several days later, while pulling into a parking lot, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled. The vehicle was restarted and was then towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
From the time i got my 2024 yukon denali i have had problems with the electrical systems not working, it was in the shop for 2 months upon delivery to me when it was brand new, and since then i have had issues with the engine racing, the start button not working, or cutting off and on , on its own, recently the motor cuts on but never turns over. It has been in the shop again for over a week now and they replaced the engine control module and it is still doing the same thing. The dealership is now telling me its a wiring issue causing it. It has been something the entire time I have owned it. I paid 90k for a vehicle that has major issues. I am looking into the Lemon law in my state of NC, and filing a complaint with GMC to see if I can get a replacement vehicle or traded.
While driving I had a sudden loss of power. Contacted dealership and was ask for engine code light. Told them no light had appeared on dashboard. Did note intermittent shift changes while driving after this occurrence. Transmission and or engine feels like it has a studder. Concerning.
This report documents two separate safety incidents involving the same vehicle that occurred on different dates. Approximately one month prior to the most recent incident, while driving my young children to school, the vehicle experienced a sudden and severe loss of braking effectiveness while in motion. I was unable to stop normally at stop signs and had to roll through and roll to a stop. I was required to press the brake pedal fully to the floor to slow the vehicle, and even then braking response was significantly reduced and not functioning as designed. The engine remained running and the vehicle could still accelerate. After stopping and restarting the vehicle, braking function temporarily returned. On a later date, while again transporting my children, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving. The vehicle abruptly shut down while in motion. I was unable to accelerate and experienced loss of power assisted braking. The vehicle only came to a stop after coasting. Following this shutdown, a burning or melted plastic odor was present. The vehicle was later towed and inspected by a dealership. The battery was replaced; however, this did not resolve the issue. After the battery replacement, the vehicle later hesitated to start again. The exact cause of these failures remains unknown. These incidents occurred without warning and represent serious safety critical failures involving braking and propulsion systems. Both incidents placed my children, myself, and other motorists at risk. Had either event occurred on a highway or heavily trafficked roadway, there would have been little to no ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle, creating a significant risk of collision or serious injury. Due to these events, I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle and have stopped driving it. The vehicle remains available for inspection.
Vehicle 4WD performs poorly with car fishtailing at very low speeds 30 MPH in a straight lane. Very scary . Feels unsafe to drive . Brand new tires were installed prior to that. So not a tire issue.
vehicle parked for extended period, 7-10 days, entered vehicle on 12/05/25 and proceeded to start - immediately service transmission appeared in display, check engine light on, dash flashing and door locks going up and down and chiming of alarms. was able to place in reverse, backed up, put into drive and vehicle would move approx 5-8 ft, lock up and stop, start again and repeat, etc.. put vehicle in low1 was able to get back in driveway and parked. had vehicle towed to closest dealer who had a transmission specialist available and worked with GM warranty plus GM CarBravo warranty to address issues (multiple dealers refused or didn’t have available personnel and/or were multiple weeks out for repairs). called and advisor said i needed a new battery (22mo of a 36mo free battery replacement GM AC Delco) and to have transmission valve body replaced and no tcm, 3-5 days for part delivery and that this was under a GM Service bulletin # PIP6069 (which i pulled up online), stated this repair (valve body) fixed most vehicles but knew of a few instances where complete GM 10spd transmissions had to be replaced. glad this happened in my driveway versus while being on a long distance trip. waiting on part delivery and unable to use vehicle due safety issue with transmission.
Transmission appears to be lunging and shuttering. Dealer has indicated that the valve body need to be replaced or the vehicle could leave me stranded or without propulsion while driving. From my research this appears to be related to other safety recall and service campaigns for this type of vehicle and the transmission that I have in my vehicle. Also the camera system doesn't work correctly as it relates to parking assist and collision control. My repair dealership has stated they are having trouble getting GM to cover this repair.
Start transmission was replaced by dealer at 75 miles. 2nd transmission was replaced at 175 miles transmission was humming and slipped at around 30 to35 mph this was around April of 2024 August 1 2025 while driving at 45 dash board lit up went flashing and suv slowed dramatically down to 30 mph Got to dealership and they kept the vehicle for about a week and returned it with it being supposedly fixed. About mid October while driving at 60 mph it shut down again almost causing a wreck went to 30 miles per hour again. Hurt my wife’s neck when it reduced speed so quickly. Took back to dealership and I told them this car is dangerous this was with about 20 k miles Been in shop was told it is scanning with 22 repair codes we have not had the car for 5 weeks and are trying to work with gm and dealer to get us out of it. But as of this report no progress. On interstate in city traffic this car will hurt or kill many people. I’m refusing to let my family or myself drive it. There is no warning when it will flash lights in dash and reduce speed. Also the front crash sensors went out and are currently not working we have all service records and paperwork that has been done including maintenance records We were given vehicle back with no warnings. I went to Nita’s and ran vin and it still shows issues. We are still making payments but driving a loaner car. The car is dangerous. I advised the dealer the first time it happened. I didn’t want it back. My wife went and got it and it sis it the second time and now she agrees it is dangerous contacted GM and they want to fix it but dealer implies they can’t ?..
On 15 Aug 2025, I was driving this vehicle on Rte 151 in raccoon township with my 2 children when the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly experienced a “loss of propulsion” with a corresponding uncommanded shift to “neutral”. Attempts to shift the car back into drive were met with a “parameters not safe” caution. I was fortunate enough that the vehicle behind me was able to slow and an accident was avoided. The thought that this could have happened with my family on the highway, during adverse conditions, or any other scenario is frightening to say the least. Other owners of affected models weren’t as fortunate.
I had just backed the truck out of a parking space (while turning) and shifted the transmission into 'Drive' with my foot pressing the brake pedal (not the gas pedal). When I took my foot off the brake pedal in order to transfer it to the gas pedal the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward without my foot ever pressing the gas pedal. The vehicle traveled forward about 20 feet before I was able to stop it by pressing the brake pedal. I am a retired General Motors Safety engineer and I know I was not pressing the gas (accelerator) pedal when this sudden acceleration event occurred. I believe this type of event occurred one other time while I was driving this vehicle. However, I am not as clear about the circumstances surrounding this previous event.
I am filing this complaint regarding GM Recall N252494000 (NHTSA Campaign Number 25V274) for my 2024 GMC Yukon XL (VIN: [XXX] ). The issue involves a serious engine defect related to the crankshaft and/or connecting rods, which can result in catastrophic engine failure and loss of propulsion while driving—a clear and dangerous safety risk. I first became concerned when early reports of this issue began circulating publicly. As a father of young children, I became increasingly uneasy that my vehicle could potentially fail while in operation. Receiving GM’s formal recall letter only validated my growing concern for my family’s well-being. It’s deeply frustrating and unsettling. The notice states that parts to repair or replace the engine are not currently available, and offers no clear timeframe for when a remedy will be provided. I feel like we are being strung along while forced to continue using a vehicle that may become unsafe at any moment. This delay is unacceptable. There has been no offer of a loaner vehicle, no proactive communication from the dealer, and no assurance from GM that they are prioritizing driver safety over logistics. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether GM is doing enough to provide timely remedies to affected customers. I also urge you to consider whether interim solutions (such as alternative transportation or more aggressive recall execution) should be mandated. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am filing a complaint regarding a potential safety defect in my 2024 GMC Yukon Denali (approx. 25,000 miles), which has been in the dealership’s service department for about 30 days due to a faulty valve body in the transmission system. There is currently no estimated date for repair completion due to a lack of available parts. This is the second time the vehicle has been in the shop for the same unresolved issue. Earlier in 2025, I brought the car in due to driveability concerns and error messages appearing on the dash, but the dealership dismissed it and claimed I had “turned the vehicle on wrong,” despite it having a push-button start. The problem persisted until June 2025, when they finally diagnosed the valve body failure. This issue directly affects drivability and vehicle safety, particularly during acceleration and gear shifting. I am concerned that General Motors is aware of widespread valve body and transmission failures in these vehicles, yet continues to produce and sell new units while failing to ensure parts are available to support timely repairs. It is unacceptable that a major safety-related transmission issue can sideline a relatively new vehicle for over a month with no resolution in sight. GM’s lack of urgency in addressing this defect suggests a disregard for consumer safety and reliability. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential pattern of safety defects in GM’s full-size SUV transmission systems.
PURCHASED A GMC DENALI YUKON ULTIMATE XL JUNE LAST YEAR . 103 THOUSAND. bOUGHT IT IN FOR FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5500 MILES THE CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL ,TOO, nOW ITS BEEN BACK THREE TIMES AND STILL LEAKI9NG OIL. lAST WEEK BROUGHT IT BACK TOLD SERVICE ADVISOR ITYS LEAKING AT THE OIL PAN BY THE PLU IT DRIPS EVERYNIGHT ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE AND I AM PUT OIL IN IT EVERY TWO WEEKS. aNYWAY THEY SAID THEY DIDD THE DYE TWICW AND DIDNT FIND THE LEAK, I SAID LET ME SHOW THHE MECHANIC THE SPOT IT LEAKS .I WENT IN SHOP UNDER VEHICLE SHOWED THE MECHANIOC HE LOOKS AND SAYS OK NOW I SEE IT ITS NEED A REAR Main seal and oil pan gasket. The contact owns a 2024 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond, with the vehicle sputtering. The contact stated that unknown warning lights were illuminated, and an unknown message was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road as the transmission shifted into neutral. The vehicle was shifted into park and turned off. The contact then attempted to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact then towed the vehicle to the dealer, and a diagnostic test was pending. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
The motor is randomly revving at braking so far only under 10 miles an hour. Yesterday it stalled twice on me and cut off braking under 10 miles an hour. I had to come to a complete stop while restarting the vehicle. Definitely has me worried if it happens on the highway or higher speeds.
The car has made a high pitched metallic rattle on cold start ever since I received it. I have taken it into the dealership multiple times for this and have had the lifters in the engine replaced but they never addressed the other noise, which I have video evidence of. The car died at 24,740 miles on the odometer in the middle of a highway in the middle of nowhere. The vehicle started to feel like it was braking on acceleration, there were no warning lights. The vehicle just lost acceleration power and I had to coast to the shoulder. Luckily I had time to pull over without interference from other traffic. Once on the side of the road I tried to crank the car again and a very loud metallic sound happened that sounded like I threw a wrench in a fan. The car lost electrical power very shortly after. I called onstar for help and she asked if I could shift the car into neutral which I could not. They had problems finding anyone that wasn’t hours out that could come tow my car and suggested that I try to find an alternate method of transportation since a wrecker service probably wouldn’t transport my entire family. Uber was not around to get me, Lyft was not around to get me and there was no taxi service. I had to rely on the local fire department to rescue us as it was hours with myself, my two children and my dog on the side of the road in 90F heat. Once at the dealership they confirmed it was indeed a catastrophic engine failure and I am currently waiting months for a back ordered engine with a rental I’m paying partially out of pocket for, in a car that’s entirely way too small for my family with no ETA on the engine in sight. I know multiple people personally who this has also happened to, same exact scenario and same exact engine just different model years.
Transmission will not shift out of 1st and 2nd gear. Backordered Valve Body Nationwide... none in the country. No ETA for this fix. Car has been in the shop over a month.
Good morning. It’s about the safety recall for loss of propulsion due to manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure. GM notified me about this in September 2025 . So, I drove my vehicle to the dealership to inspect my vehicle , my SUV passed the examination, they replaced the oil recommending now another one with higher viscosity, new oil cap and an owner’s manual insert free of charge. Ladies and gentlemen; My concern from here on now is, just doing this is going to give me a peace of mind? Meaning the manufacturer defects issue is not longer in my vehicle? I paid a top dollar for this specific unit because I like to travel across the country even to go to Mexico. Right now I’m driving the truck silent, no music at all.driving the vehicle just to go to the store, to buy groceries, very short trips, around my neighborhood Trying to hear any noise, any knocking noise on my engine, observing the dashboard controls constantly, my family and I decided to stop traveling due to my vehicle is not secure to do it with this particular 6.2 engine because my notification letter from GM says that if the vehicle fails during operation will lose control increasing the risk of crash. As a GM customer, using my vehicle with my family I don’t feel safe and comfortable with my vehicle therefore I am asking and expecting for a better solution from General Motors. Not just replacing the oil for another one with a higher viscosity because doing this only is telling me that it’s just a cheap remedy, but the manufacturer defects are still there with my vehicle . I know they extended the warranty to cover this defect if something happens in the future, but isn’t about that , is about the safety, the concerns, the feelings of the family members involved in this insecure situation while driving this vehicle in the highway at 70 miles an hour.Ladies and gentlemen. I am pretty sure you can help us with this petition , GM should be able to do something way better.
