Lost all power and the warning light came on concerning brake system failure. The car came to a complete stop and would not accellerate, so had to shut down the system and restart in the middle of the road and luckily was able to drive home with only a brake light illuminated. There is definitely something wrong with the electrical braking system
I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of a sudden several errors flashed on my dashboard, and my gas pedal stopped working. When I pulled over, I noticed an error code that read: "Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced". Not only did I lose all acceleration control, but the error codes tell me there are brake issues. After researching online it seems like many others have experienced this issue and some people found the issue was caused by a faulty Ignition Control Module.
The 12" infotainment screen flickers and turns off. The screen is most unresponsive. The screen never works with the headlights on. The screen flashes at night causing safety issues. Backup camera doesn't work. Multiple complaints found on redit regarding the same issue. I took to the dealer and they said I needed a replacement screen and it would cost $1200+. This is a practically new car.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Vehicle Mileage: 29,200 miles Involved Honda Dealership: McGrath Honda, St. Charles, IL Details of Your Inquiry: I am seeking assistance regarding an ongoing issue with my 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. The first time I noticed this issue was in the summer of 2024, when I experienced a similar set of alerts while driving in a parking lot. At the time, I didn't think much of it, as the vehicle seemed to return to normal shortly afterward. However, on [XXX], the problem occurred again, but this time it was more serious. While driving in a subdivision in Bolingbrook, IL, at approximately 25-30 MPH around 8:10 PM, my vehicle malfunctioned and displayed numerous system alerts, including: Adaptive cruise control system problem, Collision mitigation braking system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric power steering system problem, Electric parking brake system problem, Tire pressure monitor system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem. Additionally, my Honda app sent a warning stating, “Brake system problem, drive with caution.” During this time, the vehicle experienced a significant loss of power, with no braking or acceleration available. I was unable to use the brake pedal or accelerate, which caused immediate safety concerns. Luckily, I was in a subdivision and not on a busier road like Weber Rd. or I-55, as this could have resulted in a dangerous accident. I was able to coast the vehicle to a stop at the side of the road, where I waited for a few minutes. I then cycled the vehicle off, waited a few more minutes, and turned it back on. The vehicle started, and I was able to drive back home. A video was recorded showing the alerts on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to McGrath Honda for diagnostics on March 28, 2025. The dealership found multiple lost communication codes from various subsystems, but they were unable to replicate the issue. The yellow brake System Light illuminates on my dash. . I took my car to the Dealership immediately after the Brake System notification illuminated and the Dealer said they don't know how or why. I have a photo of the illuminated yellow light. My Electronic brake doesn't engage correctly when my car is parked I have video of the Electronic brake operating incorrectly. When i speak to the dealership they state that the Red Brake light did activate incorrectly. My car also slammed the brakes when there was nothing in front of me, causing the seatbelt to pull my neck violently. I was at risk of being rear ended. I've reported this to Honda America multiple times. The last incident caused so much anxiety and panic that I will not drive this car. I do not and will not continue to drive a car with brake issues. Please investigate. My car has been to the dealership nine times in one year and parked since 2/7/25.
Honda accord 2023 touring 11600 miles driven When i was driving, "break system probem please contact the dealer" appears on the screen. The car acceleration stops, Engine light and all the other lights show up. Even when i accelerate, the car doesn't move. I turned off the car, restarted it and then did it twice then it started working again. Car acceleration reduces even when i driving.
While driving the vehicle at 60 MPH the vehicle powered off and displayed multiple warning lights. After pulling over and making a complete stop I restarted the vehicle and a warning message displayed "Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer." The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.
I was traveling down road clear day at 50 miles an hour and the car slowed down to 20 miles an hour immediately in seconds like the automatic breaks were applied car would not accelerate for 3/4 of a mile the card just kept slowing down. Dash was blinking EBS then transmission malfunction light came on. I was able to pull off road (very dangerous) road was crowded. and I had to go over 2 lanes I shut car off when i restarted I dash said warning Brake System Problem brake performance may be reduced See your dealer. At this time all systems seemed to be operating ok I was able to accelerate. I drove home shut car off started 1 hour later no warring light everything normal. I will bring to dealer this week will see what they say. This was very dangerous the car went from 50 to 20 in a matter of seconds, and I had very little control of car I am afraid to have my wife dive the car
Driving on town road up a hill at about 30 mph when I got a brake system warning and the engine shut off and accelerator did not work. I was able glide to the side of the road (steering worked). I turned the car off and on and was able to continue driving to my destination but the same error message was present along with several others (eg TPMS, lane assist, collision mitigation). After being parked for 1 hour, I started car and there were no error messages and car functioned normally. Brought car to dealer (Westbrook CT Honda) and they ran diagnostic codes but found nothing other than what they described as an older voltage flux. They had never heard of a car's engine shutting off with the break system error. Told me that if it happened again to have car towed in so that there would be no code resets. I can only imagine my fear level if this had happened at 65 mph in the middle lane of a highway! I found a on-line forum where others are describing the same thing. Time for a recall? See video here: [XXX] Description: Driving at a slow speed, all of a sudden my car went dead. Brakes went out, gas didn't work, and the car went through a series of errors essentially telling me nothing on the car worked. For around 30 seconds to a minute the car was non-responsive. Then eventually power came back and I got an error message telling me to take the car in because of a brake malfunction. This brake message was on the dash until I parked the car again, then there was no error and the car started up and behaved normally. This has happened twice, once in a parking lot, once in a parking garage. Luckily neither time I was headed towards another car, as I would have crashed. Tried to start vehicle, would not start or go into drive. All warning lights on dash. Got out of the car and locked and got back in, same thing happened. Walked away and left it for a while and got back in and it started. But brake system like stayed on, then after restarting car once more light went away.
Car suddenly dies completely while driving. Entire electrical system failure rendering car inoperable. This happens without warning other than all lights on the dashboard illuminating right before shutdown. Car cannot be steered or moved and needed to be towed. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE both times on arterial roadways. A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION! First incident reported to you in August of 2024 only four months ago.
Driving out of parking lot at 15 mph, loss of power, unable to accelerate, message warning on dash stating brake problem. Message states reduced braking issue, see dealer. With a couple of tries while stopped, was able to restart the car. Braking problem message remained on dash. Drove about 6 miles to dealer. Parked the car. Shut off. Restarted in front of service advisor. The brake problem message was now gone. Decided to leave the car at the dealership for diagnosis as I was afraid to drive home. Waiting for call back. Mileage about 14,500 at incident.
While driving the vehicle on a very busy highway, it completely stalled and several warning lights appeared: "Brake System problem SEE DEALER, Check Engine Light, TPMS, etc. I have attached a picture of the warning. Another vehicle behind me slammed on his brakes but ended up bumping my back bumper (no visible damage). Thankfully the driver was alert and was able to slam on his brakes to avoid a disaster on highway 270 (near Washington, DC). I was able to restart the vehicle after a few minutes, the warning lights remained on, and I was able to drive 8 miles to the dealership. According to the work order: "The technician pulled multiple codes, followed the diagnostic tree, cleared codes." I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and have seen other complaints regarding the same issue on a Honda Website. Please research and assist as best you can.
Twice while driving this vehicle, a large number of warning lights activated simultaneously, and I lost the ability to accelerate the vehicle. Essentially, every ADAS warning triggered at once during these incidents, causing me to lose acceleration and creating a dangerous situation. The first incident occurred on the highway during heavy traffic. The sudden activation of all ADAS warnings was alarming and highly distracting. Fortunately, I managed to pull over safely. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting it, most warnings disappeared, but a few related to the brakes remained, which was very concerning. Despite being able to drive afterward, I was worried about brake safety. Later, when I started the car again, no ADAS faults were present. The second incident happened as I was leaving my apartment complex, forcing me to stop in the middle of the road due to the same issue. After the first highway incident, I took the car to Honda, as it was still under warranty. They inspected it but dismissed the problem, stating all they saw on the code reader were “junk codes” and that nothing was wrong. I plan to return to Honda after the second incident, but I fear they will give the same explanation. Online research reveals that many others have experienced almost identical issues. This is an extremely dangerous flaw in the system that requires immediate investigation and a recall before someone gets seriously hurt.
I was stopped and car completely shut down felt a lurch like I was hit and all systems shut down. I was able to coast to the side and restart car after apx 30 sec. Continued to state take car to dealership braking malfunction. Per dealership car went into limp mode and needed a software update. Safety would be extremely at risk if I had been driving on the freeway
I am a [XXX]. I contacted Honda customer service to escalate my situation. I have not yet received help from the Winston-Salem Honda dealer as of 9:00 a.m. on 10/18/24. I have complained to the Department of Justice's consumer protection division. I have sent documentation. I reached out on Facebook. I was last contacted by Dallas, even though Mike's name is on my last paperwork. This is suspicious. My rubber on my door has been replaced. My seatbelt was missing a bolt. Tires with regular, correct maintenance from the dealer should last 30,000 miles. Because Honda of Winston-Salem did not follow the schedule, after bringing my car to them many times, I have to replace my four tires at under 22,000 miles. I have lost 30% of my tires' lifespan unnecessarily due to a lack of regular balancing and rotation, despite multiple visits to Honda of Winston-Salem. My last recall letter arrived over 60 days ago. My seatbelt, CVT transmission, and engine have recalls. My window tint has faded, my door is failing, my brakes have issues, there are electrical issues, and the ceiling is sagging. My Hondalink is incorrect. I asked for help with car features and I paid $3000 up front extended warranty, but they refused to assist. Power system failed. Vehicle will not start. Error message appears “Power System Failure.” Vehicle will only start after 10-15 minutes of repeated attempts to turn on. No battery issues or other mechanical failures are indicated. Incident has happened 2-3 times in a six month timeframe. If my vehicle won’t start, I am unable to get out of potentially dangerous situation (ie: being held up at gunpoint, weather situation, medical emergency, bears, train, etc).
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the hybrid charging system, resulting in a depleted hybrid battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000. The VIN was not available.
