WHEN DRIVING THE DOOR LOCKS KEEP POPPING UP AND DOWN, MAKING LOUD NOISE. IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE AND HAVE DOOR LOCKS POP UP AND DOWN. THE DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS COMING ON EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE SRS MODULE WAS REPLACED TWICE. FIRST TIME IN SEPTEMBER OF 97, SECOND TIME ON APRIL 9, 1998. CURRENTLY THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM. *AK
DRIVING ON A RAMP AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH THERE WASN'T ANY TRAFFIC AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. *AK
FALSE DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAG WHILE DRIVING, DAMAGE TO WINDSHIELD. POLICE ON LOCATION HOWEVER NO REPORT FILED. MJS
VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND SHIFTED TO REVERSE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ND CRASHED INTO BUILDING. VEHICLE WAS THEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AGAIN INTO BUSHED. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE WITH EMERGENCY HAND BRAKE.
TIRES WEAR EXCESSIVELY.
THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TOO MUCH ROOM, BUT DOES TOUCH THE FLOOR WHICH CAUSES EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. ALSO, PROBLEMS WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD WHICH MAY RESULT AN ACCIDENT. CAUSE UNKNOWN. BEEN TO DEALER, AND DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
TAKATA RECALL 1996 HONDA ACCORD LX VIN # [XXX] MY VEHICLE IS A 1996 HONDA ACCORD LX AND IS NOT AMONG THOSE RECALLED. IT DOES HAVE A TAKATA AIRBAG: PASSENGER SIDE. TAKATA PART #06780-SV1-A82ZB. I BELIEVE THE CAR MAY ALSO HAVE A TAKATA AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN THAT INFO CONCLUSIVELY. I HAVE READ THE EXPERT REPORT ABOUT THE CAUSE(S) OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS. HONDA'S MAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE # 800-999-1009 REPRESENTATIVES LOOKED UP MY VIN # AND FOUND NOTHING THERE ABOUT AIRBAG MANUFACTURER. THEY CLAIM NO TAKATA AIRBAGS WERE INSTALLED BY HONDA PRIOR TO YEAR 2000. OTHER HONDA DEALER REPRESENTATIVELY RECORDS DEMONSTRATE OTHERWISE AND PROVIDED THE PART # FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG (LISTED ABOVE). (ALSO VARIOUS WEB PAGES INDICATE THAT HONDA BEGAN USING TAKATA AIRBAGS IN THE EARLY 1990'S.) MY VEHICLE IS IN TOP CONDITION, HAS FEWER THAN 50,000 MILES, NEW PAINT, NEW OTHER THINGS SO I AM RELUCTANT TO STOP DRIVING IT - AT LEAST UNTIL I CAN DETERMINE 1. WHETHER MY VEHICLE HAS ONE OR TWO TAKATA AIRBAGS. (HONDA REPS ARE CONTRADICTORY AND CONFUSED ABOUT THIS.) 2. WHY MY VEHICLE (WITH AT LEAST ONE TAKATA AIRBAG) IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. 3. WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE. (I WOULD HOPE THAT SINCE 1996 VEHICLES ARE APPARENTLY NOT REQUIRED BY LAW TO HAVE AIRBAGS, ONE OPTION AVAILABLE TO ME WOULD BE TO JUST HAVE THE AIRBAGS REMOVED.) INDAVERTENT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT: CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING MADE A SUDDEN STOP AND BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT CAUSE, CRACKING THE THE WINDSHILD. CONSUMER HAS YET TO CONTACT THE DEALER. *AK
OCCASIONALLY WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE GEAR THE VEHICLE WILL GO FORWARD.
VEHICLE AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE HESITATES TO START OR TURN OVER. DEALER CONTACTED,AND STATES THE ENGINE IS FLOODED FOR THE FOURTH TIME OF INCIDENT HAPPENING, RAN A PSMIF TEST AND NO PROBLEM. CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MADE A U TURN ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, WHEN THE DRIVER TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP FOR A FEW SECOND. THIS IS THE FORTH TIME THIS LOCK UP OCCURRED. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH WHEN HE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. CONSUMER'S ENTIRE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED. DUE TO THE IMPACT OF CRASH, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *AK
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THEN GEAR INDICATOR BEGINS FLASHING AND VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ABOVE 25 MPH. VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY ATTAIN HIGHER SPEEDS BUT WITH SLUGGISH PERFORMANCE.
WHENEVER USING AIR CONDITIONING AND IF THE WEATHER IS 100 DEGREE OUTSIDE, THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL BLOW OUT HOT AIR FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND THEN BLOW OUT COLD/WARM AND HOT AIRALSO, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE COMPARTMENT.*AK
WHEN DRIVNG ABOUT 5 MPH, THE BOTTOM OF THE BUMPER HIT A DIRT MOUND ON THE EDGE OF THE STREET AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BREAKING THE WINDSHIELD. THE AIR BAGS WERE REPLACED. *AK
FALSE DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S/PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS WHILE MAKING A"U" TURN ON A RURAL STREET WITHOUT CURBS. CONSUMER STATED BUMPER HIT DIRT EDGE GOING LESS THAN 15 MPH, BREAKING WINDSHIELD, AND CAUSING $3000.OO WORTH OF DAMAGES. *AK

WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 TO 35 MPH WHEN THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS GAS TANK WHICH LOCKED UP. *AK

WHILE MAKING A TURN, SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, ENGENE ACCELERATED TO HIGH SPEED, VEHICLE FLEW FORWARD, BRAKES APPLIED, WENT OVER CURB, LANDED ON TREE STUMP, SPEED UNKOWN, NO WARNING, DEALER HAS NOT DUPLICATED PROBLEM, REFERRED TO NHTSA BY STATE FARM. *AK
THE VEHICLE SRS (AIR BAG) LIGHT CAME LIT, DEALER SAID WHEN THE VEHICLE ARRIVED THE AIR BAG ALMOST DEPLOYED IF DRIVEN FURTHER. DEALER INDICATED THAT SERVICE MANUAL IS INCORRECT. *AK
BRAKE PADS/ROTORS FAILED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO VIBRATE UPON BRAKING.
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY, THE DOORS WILL NOT ALWAYS UNLOCK WHEN THE REMOTE BUTTON IS PUSHED. *AK
WHILE IN PARKING GARAGE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK POSITION. STARTED CAR AND VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. *AK
DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH, WENT OFF SIDE OF ROAD, HIT FENCE, SPLIT BUMPER & BROKE GRILL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. 3RD ACCIDENT WHERE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 35,000 MILES THEY REPLACED IT AT NO CHARGE. NOW AT 46,000 MILES THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND IVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIPS ABOUT 4 TIMES THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT I KNOW ITS THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN BECAUSE THE CAR IDLES ALL THE TIME LIKE ITS GOING TO DIE OUT ON ME AND IT HAS DIED OUT ON ME IT RUNS CRAPPY THIS IS MY FIRST CAR AND I PAID ALOT FOR IT HONDAS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELIABLE AND THIS ONE SURE AINT! THEY CANGED A COMPUTER PART OF THE EMISSIONS CONTROL THEY SAID THATS WHY THE LIGHT COMES ON BUT I TOOK IT HOME AND A WEEK LATER IT CAME BACK ON. SO MONDAY THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THE TRANSMISSION OUT AND CHECK IF ITS BURNT OUT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND IF IT IS THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE IT AGAIN!!

WHILE ENGAGING INTO REVERSE GEAR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LUNGED FORWARD CAUSING A COLLISION.
BRAKE PADS WORN OUT.
MICHELIN STEEL BELTED RADIAL TIRE BLEW OUT.
BRAKES AND STREERING FROZE, CONSUMER HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT HIT A GUARDRAIL HEAD ON, NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG. NLM
FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG, CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
THE POWER/REMOTE DOOR LOCKS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE DOORS DO NOT CONSISTANTLY UNLOCK WITH REMOTE. DOORS HAVE LOCKED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON MUST BE HELD WHILE PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE IN ORDER TO OPEN. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM.
MICHELIN TIRE FAILURE ( 195/60R15)
SUNROOF LEAKS.
TURNED IGNITION OFF, PULLED HAND BRAKE UP, TRANSMISSION STILL IN REVERSE, VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF THE GARAGE, HITTING A FENCE POST, PARKING BRAKE STILL ON AND TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE.
DASHBOARD VIBRATES.
FUEL PUMP FAILED.
TRANSMISSION FAILED, REPLACED AND STARTED TO FAILED IN 1999 AGAIN. YH
WHEN VEHICLE WAS REARENDED AND SLAMMED INTO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER'S, THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF EITHER AIR BAG. *AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT. *SLC
AXLE SHAFT SEAL FAILED.
PARKING LOT SHUT OFF FEATURE ON ALARM INOPERATIVE.
