CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40MPH ON A SIDE STREET 0N A RAINY NIGHT. SHE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, AND ANOTHER VEHICLE VEERED INTO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, AND SHE RAN INTO HIM . UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF AT ALL.*AK
CONSUMER'S MOTHER WAS DRIVING AND GETTING READY TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY, CRASHING INTO A CONCRETE POLE, AND CAUSING $7110.30 IN DAMAGE. INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THROTTLE ASSEMBLY APPEARED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. HONDA AUTO BODY MECHANICS STATED THAT THEY WOULD CHECK VEHICLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK
THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION PRODUCED A CLICKING SOUND WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *NM THE TRANSMISSION MADE NOISE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WOULD RATTLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. *SC *JB
ENGINE IS OVERHEATING. DEALERSHIP IS UNCLEAR AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING DEFECT. THIS DEFECT OCCURS RANDOMLY REGARDLESS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. *AK HONDA STATED NEW HEAD GASKETS WERE NEEDED, AFTER REPAIR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, DEALER THEN STATED #5 CYLINDER WAS MISFIRIING, DEALER CLEANED PLUG, ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, ALL PLUGS WERE REPLACED, COMPUTER WAS RESET, AND #5 SPARK PLUG WIRE WAS REPLACED, ENGINE LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATED, CONSUMER HAD THERMOSTAT REPLACED AND EXAMINED IT FINDING BURRS WERE EVIDENT ON THE STAMPING SURROUNDING THE MOVABLE BELLOWS, A LOT OF SHINY RIDGES WERE EVIDENT ON THE BELLOWS, HE RAN A HOT WATER TEST TO SEE IF THE BURRS WOULD CAUSE THE DEVICE TO REMAIN CLOSED, HOWEVER IT STUCK CLOSE, CONSUMER REMOVED THE BURRS AND THE THERMOSTAT OPERATED PROPERLY, ON ONE OCCASION ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT AT NIGHT DUE TO STEAM FROM THERMOSTAT, CONSUMER FEELS THE RADIATOR RECOVERY TUBE WAS BEING BLOWN OFF BY THE STEAM ALSO, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATED AND CODE P1399 COMES UP, WHICH NOONE KNOWS WHAT THE CODE STANDS FOR, ENGINE RUNS ROUGH.. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS. *SLC
TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD. LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND HIT TREE. *AK
THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION SURGES. WE HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICING THE WEEK BEFORE AND THEN OUR SON LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. HE WAS ONLY GOING 35 MPH AT THE TIME AND WAS BRAKING AT THE TIME. WE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND SURGING. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A BROKEN SEAL AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING OUT. THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED 3 DAYS AFTER WE PICKED THE CAR BACK UP FROM THE DEALER AFTER SUPPOSED REPAIRS. AFTER READING OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS, MAYBE THIS IS THE FUEL THROTTLE LINKAGES CONTROL AND NOT THE TRANSMISSION. WE DON'T KNOW. AFTER THE CAR IS REPAIRED FROM THE ACCIDENT WE ARE TAKING BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR MORE WORK ON TRANSMISSION/FUEL THROTTLE PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER NOTICED TIRE SELF INSPECTION. DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE HAS A BUBBLE SHAPE ON TIRE. GENERAL TIRE, AMERI CSTAR, 4 S P205 65R15 DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
THE DRIVER SEAT GOT LOOSE AND WHILE DOING THE 22,500 MILES MAINTAINANCE, I REQUESTED THE SERVICE PERSON TO LOOK IF SOME BOLTS HAD GONE LOOSE. HE LATER TOLD ME THAT THE SEAT WAS BROKEN. I HENCE CALLED UP THE DEALER TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE. I GOT AN APPOINTMENT ON 01/30/2001 AND ON THE APPOINTMENT DAY THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THE FOLLOWING: THE SEAT'S SLIDE ADJUSTER WAS BROKEN AND REPLACED IT AS NEEDED. *AK
AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVING THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT, WHEN EXITING THE CAR THE SEATBELT HAS BECOME ENTANGLED IN THE MOTORIZED SEATBACK CONTROL. WHILE I WALKED AROUND TO THE REAR SEAT TO TAKE MY INFANT OUT OF HER CAR SEAT, THE SEATBACK MOTOR SMASHED THE SEATBACK INTO MY CHILD'S LEGS AND PINNED THEM BETWEEN THE SEATBACK AND HER CARSEAT. THIS CAUSED HER TREMENDOUS PAIN AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AT MORE FREQUENCY THAN IT SHOULD (7 TIMES ) FOR EMISSSION FAILURE. *AK
WIRING SHORT NEAR GLOVE COMPARTMENT. CAR WAS IN PARKING LOT AT WORK. STARTED INTERNAL FIRE. INTERIOR COMPLETELY DESTROYED. CAR TOTALLED. CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES IN A MONTH AND A HALF. THE CAR SHAKES AT HIGH SPEEDS AND AT IDLE (DEALER SAYS UNBELIVABLE SHAKE IS NORMAL). WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME IT STARTS TO VIBRATE AND HESITATE AT HIGH SPEEDS THE CAR BECOMES VERY HARD TO DRIVE IN THE STEERING WHEEL, THE WHOLE SUSPENSION OF THE CAR IS NOT SECURE. THE BRAKES ON THE CAR HAVE ALSO BEEN FIXED OR CHECKED 4 TIMES - IT IS VERY HARD TO BREAK. THEIR IS ALSO A VERY HESITATION IN THE ENGINE WHEN CHANGING GEARS. IT FEELS LIKE THERE MAY BE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM OR AN ENGINE MOUNT PROBLEM. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH USED TIRES BECAUSE MANUFACTURER SAID THAT THERE WAS A FLAT SPOT ON THE TIRES. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE REPLACING THE BAD TIRES WITH NEW GOOD TIRES (HOPING THAT ALL THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING WAS DUE TO JUST THE BAD TIRES) THEY REPLACED THEM WITH USED TIRES AND DIDN'T BALANCE AND ALIGN THEM (THIS IS ON THE FORTH VISIT TO THE DEALER). CONSUMER PULLED INTO GARAGE ON AN UPGRADE AND PARKED. CONSUMER THOUGHT CAR WAS IN PARK BECAUSE SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL KEY OUT OF IGNITION. CONSUMER TURNED AROUND AND VEHICLE WAS ROLLING DOWN DRIVEWAY BACKWARDS. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER, AND HE SAID THAT IGNITION SWITCH WAS BROKEN. *AK
WHILE AT A STAND STILL VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM REAR, ESTIMATED SPEED WAS NOT DETERMINED. BUT, IT FORCED VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT. ALSO, CAUSED SEATBACK TO COLLAPSE. DEALER / MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
FIRST FAILURE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ERRATIC @71,927MI. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS SOLENOID SHIFT VALVE, SECOND FAILURE DIAGNOSED AS INTERNAL PROBLEM WORN PARTS. *AK
THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR IS TOTALED AND NEITHER ONE OF THE LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY FRIEND AND I WERE WEARING OUR SEAT BELTS AND BOTH OF US HAVE FACE AND HEAD INJURIES.*AK
INTERIOR LIGHT IS INOPERATIVE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BULB WHICH ITS ON BACK ORDER, AND CANNOT GET THE PARTS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

SRS LIGHT IS ON AT ALL TIMES, DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND FOUND 2 SCREWS ON STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG CONNECTOR COVER WERE MISSING, DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *SLC
I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND WAS ASKED WHERE I GOT THE INFO FROM. AND I TOLD THEM THE INTERNET AND WAS THEN ASKED IF IT WAS A HONDA SITE TO WHICH I SAID NO. I WAS THEN TOLD THERE WAS NO SUCH RECALL. NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONED. *AK

WHILE CONSUMER WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO RUN INTO A HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET(ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT). NLM
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 60 ON THE HIGHWAY ANOTHER CAR HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IN FRONT AT ABOUT 60MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND CONSUMER'S SEAT BELT DIDN'T HOLD. *AK *SLC
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FOR MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD FAILED 2500 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT TRANSMISSIONS DO NOT FAIL THIS EARLY ON IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO MANY MECHANICS WHO ALL STATED THAT THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GO OUT THIS FAST. EVERYONE BUT HONDA STATES THAT THERE MUST BE A DEFECT. THE HONDA CORPORATION ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND CONTENDS THAT THERE IS NO DEFECT OR RECALL. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR THE 1998 ACCORDS ESPECIALLY ON THE NHTSA CONSUMER COMPLAINTS SITE. I FEEL THAT HONDA IS IGNORING/HIDING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS TO AVOID A RECALL ON THE 1998 HONDA ACCORDS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT SO EARLY ON IN THE CAR'S LIFE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I KNOW THAT THIS MUST BE GOING ON ON A LARGER SCALE PROBABLY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND BEING IGNORED BY THE DEALERS.*AK
WHILE MAKING A U TURN BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM VEHICLE. IT JUST HAPPENED LIKE MENTIONED IN RECALL 99V069000, BALL JOINT CAN PREMATURELY WEAR OUT AND SEPARATE.*AK
MY VEHICLE WAS HIT DIRECTLY FROM BEHIND AT HIGH IMPACT. AT IMPACT, MY DRIVER'S SEAT WENT TO THE RECLINING POSITION. AFTER THE IMPACT, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE MANUAL SEAT BACK ADJUSTMENT LEVER HAD BEEN PULLED COMPLETELY OFF OF THE SEAT, APPARENTLY DUE TO ENTANGLEMENT WITH THE SEAT BELT DURING THE IMPACT.*AK
MY CAR WAS REPAIRED AT THIS DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE COGGIN HONDA COULDN'T TAKE MY CAR BECAUSE STATED THERE WERE 8 OTHER CAR THAT WERE DAMAGED DUE TO THE RAIN, BUT PURCHASED AT COGGIN HONDA IN 7/98. HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE IT TO DUVAL HONDA. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T TELL ME WHERE THE LEAK IS IN MY CAR. THEY ALSO DAMAGED THE LEATHER INTERIOR ON THE FRONT DOORS WHILE IN THEIR CARE. 2 HOLES ARE ON THE DOOR., PLUS SCRATCHES ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I HAD TO PAY $500 AND NOW THE CAR IS STILL DAMAGED. *AK

UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION OR PRIOR WARNING OF DEFECT. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER AND PASSENGER RECEIVED HEAD INJURIES. VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL STICKS CAUSING ROTORS TO WARP. TOOK TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND NOT THE PEDAL. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST A INCONVENIENCE NOT A SAFETY HAZARD. LATER FOUND THAT THE PEDAL WAS STICKING AND WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE HEAD ENGINEER FOR HONDA HAD TO COME AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY

TRANSMISSION LOCK UP CONVERTER FAILED, SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED WITH NEW TRANS. AFTER 2 WEEKS NEW TRANS. LOUDLY SLIPS WHILE IN REVERSE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND FIND OUT THEY PUT IN A RE-MANUFACTURED TRANS. (OH, BY THE WAY...) DEALER DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER BOB SPRINGER SERVICE MANAGER SAID "OTHER HONDAS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM TOO". REASON FOR NOT PUTTING IN A NEW TRANS. HONDA DOESN'T HAVE ANY NEW TRANS. AVAILABLE, YET OUR SERVICE ADVISOR BRETT WAS GOING TO CHARGE US $3800 FOR A NEW TRANS. WHEN THE FIRST TRANSMISSION FAILED.*AK
DRIVING AROUND NORMALLY, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL CLUNK AND JERK GOING INTO AND OUT OF 2ND GEAR. DRIVE IT A LITTLE HARDER, IT YANKS AND BUCKS THE CAR. DURING NORMAL OPERATION, WHEN YOU CAME TO A STOP (WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS TRYING TO GO BACK TO 1ST WHEN DECELERATING), THE TRANSMISSION WILL FIGHT THE BRAKES AND JERK THE CAR FORWARD. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN IMMEDIATE DANGER, BUT IT IS A DEGENERATING PROBLEM THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD AT ANY VEHICLE SPEED. CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 40-45MPH WHILE IT WAS MISTY OUTSIDE, ANOTHER VEHICLE CUT IN FRONT OF THE CONSUMER. CONSUMER TAPPED ON BRAKES & VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. DID 3 360 TURNS & EACH TIME VEHICLE HIT THE GUARDRAILS. BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE CAR. AIRBAGS DIDIN'T DEPLOY. *AK.ET.
1) THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. A BUMP WOULD FINALLY MAKE IT GO OFF. PAID TO HAVE FUEL CAP REPLACED, DIDN'T HELP. PUT FUEL CAP OF 2000 ACCORD ON, DIDN'T HELP. DISABLED SENSOR FROM CAP, FINALLY RESOLVED LIGHT ISSUE. BECAME INVALID, AND DROVE WITH BRAKE ON SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO FREQUENCY OF LIGHT BEING ON. 2) SRS LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT REASON. DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS (3) INDICATED NOTHING WAS WRONG. FINALLY REPLACED THE SENSOR AND PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED.
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 55MPH AND CLASHED HEAD-ON INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER TO CALL NHTSA HOT LINE. ALSO, IT COULD BE BECAUSE OF THE SENSOR.
THROTTLE CONTINUALLY STICKS WHEN COLD OR AFTER SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. DANGEROUS SITUATION AS EXCESSIVE PRESSURE OFTEN NEEDED TO ENGAGE, CAUSING NEAR ACCIDENTS ON MANY OCCASIONS. HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS TO THE SAME CONCERN ON WEBSITE.*AK
CAR SHIMMIED AT 20 MPH. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS CONSUMER'S FAULT, AND THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPAIR IT. *AK

DEALER INSTALLED "GOLD KIT" TRIM BECAME DISCOLORED AND COLOR STARTED TO PEEL OFF OF THE GOLD STRIP TRIM OVER REAR LICENSE PLATE. *AK
LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. DEALER WOULD NOT FIX UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
IN JULY 1998, I PURCHASED A 1998 HONDA ACCORD V6 EX. IN FEBRUARY 2000 THE FIRST PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CHECK AND EGR DEFECT OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND REPOSITIONING OF THE PCV VALVE AND HOSE IN ACCORDANCE WITH HONDA RECALL INSTRUCTIONS AND RESETTING THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT INDICATOR AT NO COST TO ME. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER. IN APRIL 2000, THE SECOND PROBLEM WITH THE EGR VALVE AS MANIFESTED BY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED BY REPLACEMENT OF THE PCV HOSE IN ACCORDANCE WITH HONDA RECALL INSTRUCTIONS AND RESETTING THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT INDICATOR AT NO COST TO ME. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER. IN OCTOBER 2000, THE THIRD OCCURRENCE OF THE EGR VALVE FAILURE OCCURRED. THIS PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED BY CLEANING THE EGR PORT AND VALVE. THIS WAS PERFORMED AT A COST OF $66 PLUS TAX. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER. IN JANUARY 2001, A RELATED OCCURRENCE OF THE EGR PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH AN IDLE AIR CONTROLLER (IAC) MOTOR FAILING. THE EGR PORT AND VALVE WERE NOT CHECKED, HOWEVER THE SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM WERE RESOLVED BY REPLACEMENT OF THE IAC MOTOR AND CLEARING OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR. THIS RESULTED IN A COST TO ME OF $226.69. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER. IN NOVEMBER 2001, I WAS SENT A NOTICE BY AMERICAN HONDA CONCERNING THE EGR FAILURES AND EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER. IN MAY 2002, THE FOURTH EGR PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATING A PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED TO BE THE EGR VALVE FAILURE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. THIS REPAIR HAS BEEN ESTIMATED TO BE $800.00. HONDA?S DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER HAS DENIED THE CLAIM, SINCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 81,000 MILES, IT HAS BEEN CONSIDERED TO BE OUT-OF-WARRANTY BY HONDA AND THEREFORE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT MY COST. SERVICE OCCURRED AT DEALER IN TUCSON, AZ. AS A FURTHER POINT, HONDA HAS DENIED ALL CLAIMS FOR WORK DONE UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
