VEHICLE STALLED ONCE WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MPH. DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE.*AK THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN APPLYING BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. *YH
WHILE PARKING GEAR INADVERTENTLY JUMP OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE AND FORCE VEHICLE TO HIT A WALL AND FENCE. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK *YD
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES TWICE WITHIN 8 MONTHS. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THEY HAVE BEEN WORKED ON. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP PAID FOR THE REPAIR. THIS LAST TIME I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKES EVERY 15,000 MILES! THERE WAS ONLY 8 MONTHS BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND SET OF BRAKES PUT ON THE CAR.*AK
VEHICLE STALLED AT ANY SPEED. DEALER REPLACED FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH.*AK *JB
MY PRIMARY CONCERN IS THE ENGINE TROUBLE WITH MY 1999 ACCORD. WHEN I NEED TO ACCELERATE THE CAR "MISFIRES" ACCORDING TO THE GRESHAM HONDA DEALERSHIP. THIS IS WHERE THE CAR IS BEING SERVICED. CONTACT NAME AND NUMBER WOULD BE MARK CAWTHORN @ 503-676-7070. I AM VERY HESITANT TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC AT ANY SPEED BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY CAR WILL MISFIRE. AT TIMES THE ACCELERATION STICKS AT BOTH 2-3RPMS. BASICALLY, THERE IS NO ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NO LONGER COMES ON WHEN THE CAR HESITATES. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THAT THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THE CHECK LIGHT DID COME ON. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY ON IT'S 5TH STAY WITH HONDA. THEY(HONDA AND THEIR TECHNICIANS) SEEM TO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM WILL BE RESOLVED EASILY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, QUICKLY. I'D HATE TO BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT, I HAVE HAD A FAILURE WITH MY ABS. WHILE THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, I BARELY STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION WHILE BRAKES LOCKED UP ON PAVEMENT. I HAVE HAD PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE ON SUCH OCCASIONS AND EACH WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE TESIMONIES TO SUCH FAILURES AS LISTED ABOVE. IN FACT, THE HONDA TECHNICIAN HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED THE "MISFIRE" FIRST HAND IN MY ACCORD. THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED CAUSING BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR AND RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. NLM
CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. *AK
SEAT TRACK IS BROKEN AND SEAT IS FLOPPING AROUND. THE METAL PIECE THAT ATTACHED TO THE SEAT FRAME HAS BROKEN OFF. WHEN LOOKING AT THE BREAK, OBSERVED METAL SHAVINGS ON FLOOR AND A LOT OF METAL SHAVINGS AT THE POINT OF THE BREAK. APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART OR WORKMANSHIP. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF I HAD HAD AN ACCIDENT, THE SEAT WOULD NOT HAVE HELD AND I COULD HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT THE BACK OF THE CAR. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO HONDA CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT, THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED AT ALL. OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE PART REQUIRED TO FIX THIS BUT THEY SAID THE PART WAS AROUND $700! I HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED YET BECAUSE I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. I SEE THAT MINE IS THE 4TH COMPLAINT REPORTED TO YOU REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE.
CRANKSHAFT BOLT APPEARS TO BE SHEARED OFF. THAT HELD THE PULLY IN PLACE WHICH HOLDS ON THE TIMING CHAIN AND 2 OTHER BELTS. I CONTACTED THE HONDA CORPORATION WHO WAS IN TOUCH WITH WILDE HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO DEFECT WITH THE BOLT. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE FACTORY TORQUEING THE BOLT DOWN TO TIGHT WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A STRESS FRACTURE. WILDE HONDA ALSO SAID THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE AIR INTAKE FILTER BEING CHANGED AND THE TIRES BEING WORN. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT ,THATIS HIGHLY UNLIKELY. WOULD YOU PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER CASES LIKE THIS. THANK YOU. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED IN MY HONDA ACCORD 99. WITH RESEARCH I FOUND ALOT OF CONSUMERS THAT HAD THE TRANSMISSIONS FAIL IN THEIR ACCORD 99/2000/2001'S. THE 200+ TRANSMISSION WERE UNDER RECALL. I DIRECTLY ASKED HONDA IF THE PART (AUTO TRANSMISSION) WAS THE SAME IN THE 99 ACCORD AS THE 2000 / 2001 WHICH IS UNDER RECALL. THOUGH SEVERAL HONDA DEALERSHIPS I FOUND OUT THAT THE PART (AUTO TRANSMISSION) IS EXACTLY THE SAME IN A 99, 2000 OR 2001 HONDA ACCORD. THE HONDA WARRANTY TEAM WOULD NOT ADMIT (AGAIN I DIRECTLY ASKED) THAT THE PART WAS THE SAME. THUS, I AM LEFT WITH HONDA KNOWING THAT 99 ACCORD'S HAVE KNOWN DEFECTIVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS THAT FAIL AT ROAD SPEED (ERRATIC SHIFTING). MY TRANSMISSION FAILED ON AN INTERSTATE AT 60 MPH ROAD SPEED BY SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER THAT HAD TO GO OFF ROAD TO AVOID MY CAR. I GUESS WHEN THE FATALITIES GROW BIG ENOUGH TO WARRANT A CLASS ACTION SUIT HONDA WILL BE FORCED TO RECALL. *NLM
VEHICLE SHUTSDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THERE IS A HESITATION BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN.*AK
HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE EGR TO 8 YRS DUE TO FAILURES. *AK
WHEN SHUTTING ENGINE OFF AND PULLING KEY OUT OF IGNITION, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK WOULD ENGAGE AND LOCK DOORS AS SOON AS CONSUMER PULLED ON DOOR HANDLE TO EXIT VEHICLE. CONSUMER WOULD THEN HAVE TO PUT KEY BACK IN IGNITION, UNLOCK DOORS, AND THEN EXIT VEHICLE. DEALER REPLACED MULTI PLUG SYSTEM ON 8 JUNE 2001. CURRENTLY, WHEN CONSUMER PULLS KEY OUT OF IGNITION AND PULLS ON DOOR HANDLE, DOORS LOCK AGAIN. CONSUMER HAS TO INSERT KEY IN IGNITION, SHIFT FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL, THEN ENGAGE THE UNLOCK DOOR BUTTON TO EXIT VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT THIS NEW PROBLEM YET. *AK
POORLY MADE TRANSMISSION IN 6TH GENERATION ACCORDS , HONDA SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. *AK A PART WAS ADDED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE PART WAS ADDED TWICE AND WORKED NEITHER TIME. AT TIMES WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS COMING TO A STOP, THE SEAT WOULD JERK FORWARD AND BACK. *SC *JB
WHILE TRAVELING IN GERMANY (US ARMY) AT SAFE CRUISING SPEEDS AVERAGING 100 TO 115 MPH (NORMAL FOR GERMANY), THE BLACK TRIM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD CAME LOOSE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FROM BOTTOM TO TOP AND WAS FLAPPING IN THE WIND. NOTICED THE PASSANGER SIDE TRIM WAS ALSO COMING LOOSE. DEPENDING UPON SPEED, IT WAS HITTING DRIVERS WINDOW. INCIDENT WAS SURPRISING AND COULD HAVE SHOCKED THE DRIVER INTO AN ACCIDENT. IT APPEARS THE TRIM WAS GLUED AND NOTCHED SO IT COULD NOT COME LOOSE BUT LEFT ENOUGH HANGING OVER THE PAINTED AREAS TO BE CAUGHT BY THE WIND. APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED. GOING TO SEE LOCAL DEALER TOMORROW FOR REPAIR. ALTHOUGH MY CAR WAS BOUGHT IN MD, AAFES SELLS THE SAME HONDA ACCORD HERE TO THE MILITARY. HAD TO USE DUCT TAPE AND REDUCE SPEED TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT FURTHER DAMAGE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS INJURED. CONSUMER FELT AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. *AK
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY INTO GEAR, IT WAS SLOW IN SHIFTING. WHEN EVER THIS HAPPENS, ENGINE WOULD REV UP. HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION IS REQUIRED, EVEN THOUGH WAS TOLD ITS REPAIRABLE. *AK *JB
DRIVER'S SEAT TRACK CAME UNBOLTED FROM FLOOR. DEALER HAS INSPECTED AND REPAIRED VEHICLE.*AK THE DEALER PAID HALF THE COST OF REPAIR. *YH
ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY 500-600 MILES. SCHOMP HONDA IN DENVER SAID FLUSH TRANSMISSION. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK, THERE WAS A VALVE TO REPLACE IN THE TRANSMISSION. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK, TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT NEEDED AT $50,000. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN FLUSHED, AND THE VALVE REPLACED (BY KOOL HONDA, MCCOOK, NE). THIS TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 1000 MILES. THIS STARTED BEFORE MILEAGE WAS 47,000 MILES. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED, AND SUSPECT THE PROBLEM WAS APPARENT WHEN THE PRIOR OWNER TRADED IT IN. HONDA NEEDS TO RESPOND TO ALL THE OWNERS WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,BY FIXING/REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION AT NO COST TO OWNERS. *LA
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 2MPH AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL GOT STUCK. WHEN PUSHING IT DOWN HARDER VEHICLE WENT INTO A CROSSWALK, AND HIT A PEDESTRIAN. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED CONSUMER STATES THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON FEB 23, 2001 SHE HIT A VEHICLE AS AHE WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE.*JB
WELD BROKE ON MY DRIVER'S SEAT 1999, HONDA ,ACCORD WITH ONLY 38,000 MILES ON IT. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID THE ENTIRE LINKAGE WAS NEEDED, AND WOULD COST $800.00 FOR THE PART. NOW A YEAR LATER, I GET A LETTER FROM HONDA FOR A SEAT PRODUCT RECALL, AND A BRACKET IS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THROTTLE SUDDENLY ACELLERATED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING BECAUSE SPEED CONTROL WILL UNEXPECTEDLY SPEED UP WHEN APPLYING GAS AND RELEASING IT. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
DRIVERS SEAT BACK AUTOMATICALLY RECLINED ON THREE OCCASIONS, ALL THREE TIMES THE WEATHER WAS VERY COLD AND THE SEAT BACK DID NOT RETURN TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED UNTIL THE SEAT WAS MOVED TO THE FULL FORWARD POSITION, DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *SLC

THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK RECLINED AUTOMATICALLY ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE CONSUMER HAD CONTACTED THE MANUFACTUTRER. *YH
LEFT METAL CONTROL ARM THAT RAISES AND LOWERS THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS BROKEN. BOTH THE METAL AND THE WELD HAVE BROKEN AND THE BAR UNDER THE SEAT IS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE CONTROL ARM UNDER THE LEFT FRONT OF THE SEAT. THE SEAT FLOPS AND IS UNSTABLE. THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT THE FEAR IS THAT HAD IT BEEN OR SHOULD IT BE, THE SEAT WILL FALL BACKWARDS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND REAR SEAT PASSENGER. SHOULD THE RIGHT SIDE FAIL, THE SEAT WILL NOT BE HELD IN PLACE AT ALL. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE TYPE OF FAILURE THAT SHOULD OCCUR UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES OR EVEN IN AN ACCIDENT. HONDA WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAILURE EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.*AK
THROTTLE WAS STICKING MOSTLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED, AFTER IT WARMED UP THROTTLE WAS FINE. DEALER CLEANED AND LUBRICATED THROTTLE BODY. *AK
VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP WHEN REAR-ENDED BY A TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. VEHICLE WAS THEN PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT HENCE A REAR AND FRONT IMPACT TOTALLING THE VEHICLE. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. *AK
REAR SEAT BELTS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE FRAYED IN IDENTICAL PLACES, WHERE THE SHOULDER BELT ENTERS THE HOUSING IN THE SEAT. PLASTIC "GUARD" IS SHARPED EDGED, AND HAS CUT 1/2" INTO EACH SEAT BELT. SHOWED TO DEALER DURING ROUTINE MTC. THEY CLAIMED THEY HADN'T SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS ("DID YOU CLOSE IT IN THE DOOR?" "NO, WE HARDLY USE THE BACK SEATS AT ALL, SINCE ONLY TWO ADULTS RIDE/DRIVE THIS CAR.") THEY AGREED TO ONE ROUND OF REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WE EXPECT IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN.*AK
THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING ON A 1999 HONDA ACCORD 2 DOOR. THERE IS SEVERE JERKY MOTION BETWEEN SHIFTS. ALSO WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD VIOLENTLY WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE DOUBLE GEAR SHIFT. MY FAMILY OWNS THE 4 DOOR VERSION OF THE CAR ALSO, WHICH DOES NOT HAVE SUCH SYMPTOMS. OUT OF 7 PEOPLE I KNOW WHO ALSO OWNS THE ACCORD, 3 PEOPLE HAVE SUCH PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS TO DATE. HONDA CLAIMS THAT SINCE IT DOES NOT OCCUR WITH "MANY" OF PRODUCTION CARS, IT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! *AK
ACCELERATOR STICKS WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP. HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND TRYING TO SPEED UP. ALSO, HAPPENS WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP.CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER CLEANED ENGINE AND REPLACED THROTTLE. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK
CAR SQUEAKS CONSISTENTLY FROM THE LEFT REAR SIDE WHEN CAR IS COLD. BROUGHT TO DEALER IN NOV. 2000 AND THEY REPLACED THE SWAY LINK BAR DUE TO THE LINK BEING BROKEN. CAR STILL SQUEEKS. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK ON 5 DIFFERENT OCASSIONS AND THEY CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM OR RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM.*AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE BRAKING BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD, AND RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE AND A CRASH. BEEN TO DEALER FOR 1 MONTH, AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ENGINE HESITATES AND SPUTTERS AT HALF-THROTTLE. DEALER STATES HONDA SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL" WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF AIR INTAKE IS OVER 150 DEGREES. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS SPORADICALLY AT A WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE.
THESE TIRES FLATTEN OUT LIKE THE OLD BIAS PLY TIRES, AND FEEL LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING ON A WASHBOARD FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF MILES. THIS GENERALLY HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR SITS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS WITH ANY OTHER RADIAL EVER. I HAVE OWNED AT LEAST 22 AUTOMOBILES WITH VARIOUS BRANDS OF RADIALS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P195/65R15 )
I BELIEVE THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE ARE PLACED TO CLOSE TOGETHER CAUSING RAPID ACCERLATION.SIMILAR TO THE 1980 'S PROBLEM FOUND ON THE AUDI 5000.THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED THE RECENT ACCIDENT OF THE NY NURSES WHO DIED RECENTLY WHEN THEIR CAR WENT OF THE TOP OF THE PARKING GARAGE.*AK
WHENEVER KEY IS IN IGNITION & PRESSING ON BRAKES, VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE. WOULD HAVE TO TAKE KEY OUT OF IGNITION & PLACE IT IN HOLE NEXT TO THE IGNITION & THEN TURN IT. AFTERWARDS, KEY MUST BE REMOVED & PUT BACK IN IGNITION SWITCH TO START VEHICLE. IT CAUSES A LOT OF PROBLEMS, AND HAZARDOUS.*AK
PASSENGER WAS DRIVING 35 MPH AND WENT TO APPLY BRAKES. THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKES WENT OUT AGAIN ON 1/26/01. WHEN THE OWNER TOOK THE CAR IN THE FIRST TIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER ASSURED HER THAT THIS IS A ONE TIME THING AND IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. THE OWNER HAD NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF A BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR. THE BRAKES INSISTLY WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED 1999 HONDA ACCORD I HAD CARBON BUILD UP IN THE THROTTLE, WHICH IS RESULTED IN THE THROTTLE STICKING. REGARDLESS, OF HOW LONG THE VEHICLE SAT, WHEN THE CONSUMER GAVE THE VEHICLE GAS, THE THROTTLE STUCK. IT DID NOT MATTER IF IT WAS IN REVERSE OR FORWARD. THIS PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST 4 TO 5 YEARS. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER. THEY SUGGESTED THAT SHE BRING IT IN FOR A THROTTLE CLEANING, WHICH SHE DID. THE MECHANIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THIS DONE AGAIN BECAUSE IT WOULD CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY HAVE BEEN OF NO HELP. AND OFTEN REFER HER TO HAVE THE THROTTLE CLEANED AGAIN AT HER COST. AT THIS RATE, THE THROTTLE WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED EVERY FEW MONTHS. AT THIS POINT, THE THROTTLE IS STICKING AND NEEDS TO BE CLEANED, BUT THE OWNER SUGGESTED THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT OR RECALL. *AK *JB
