CAR STRUGGLES TO GAIN SPEED AFTER STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN TO TURN. THE RPM WILL INCREASE BUT THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. IN ORDER FOR CAR TO ACCELERATE I WILL HAVE TO PLACE THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND THEN SHIFT TO DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE OR IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT IT MAY BE RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS PREVIOIUSLY BEEN RECALLED ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD EX. TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 60MPH ON I-40 IN NASHVILLE, TN CAR BUCKED AND CAME TO STOP IN TRAFFIC. CAR WAS FINE, TRANSMISSION WENT, HARD TIME GETTING CAR OFF THE INTERSTATE. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT SHIFTS WHEN MAKING A TURN. ALSO NOTE THAT WHEN BRAKING, I NOTICED THE SEAT MOVE AS WELL. SO BOTH TURNING AND BRAKING. THE MAN I BOUGHT IT FROM NOTICED THE SAME THING. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT IT IS COMMON. HE GOT A PRICE TO FIX IT, HONDA DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM $1000 AND A LOCAL NON-DEALER $500. I'M GOING TO WAIT AND SEE IF HONDA OFFERS A RECALL BEFORE I SPEND THE MONEY. I AM READING THAT AFTER SOME PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN IT FIXED, IT BRAKES THE SAME WAY.
I HAVE A 2003 V6 HONDA ACCORD THAT HAS REACHED 100K THAT HAS A COMPLETELY FAILED TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY TO WORK MY CAR VIOLENTLY DOWN SHIFTED IN WHICH I ALMOST LOST CONTROL. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CHECKED TO SEE IF MY CAR COULD SWITCH BETWEEN ALL THE GEARS. WHEN I FELT CONFIDENT I CONTINUED MY TRIP. THE CAR SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE TO MY DESTINATION SO AGAIN I FELT COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. I DECIDED TO TAKE SIDE STREETS HOME AND GOOD THING I DID. MY CAR AGAIN AFTER TRAVELING AROUND 40 MPH VIOLENTLY DROPPED TO FIRST GEAR. THE CAR SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY THAT MY SUNGLASSES FLEW OFF. AGAIN I PULLED OVER AND DOUBLE CHECKED SWITCHING BETWEEN GEARS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO HEAD HOME IN WHICH I TRAVELED CAREFULLY AT VERY A LOW SPEED IN WHICH NOW MY CAR JUST SITS. I UNDERSTAND FAILURE HAPPENS BUT A CAR SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER ONLY 100K MILES. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR IN WHICH IT WAS REGULARLY MAINTENANCE, UNFORTUNATELY MY WARRANTY RECENTLY EXPIRED. IN 2004 THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION RECALL FOR MY CARS MODEL THAT WAS TO CORRECT A POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THE PART. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY CORRECTED, THERE WAS STILL A FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN BROUGHT MY CAR TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT HAS MANY TIMES PERFORMED SERVICE MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSIS. THEY THEN PROCEED TO TELL ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION FOR A COST OF $4500. I WAS OUTRAGED THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY THE AMOUNT FOR AN OBVIOUS FAULTY PART AND I LET THEM KNOW THAT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT, "WELL, HOW LONG DO YOU THINK A TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSED TO LAST?", WHICH FURTHER ENRAGED ME. MY COLLEGE CAR OF ANOTHER MAKE MADE IT TO 250K MILES, AND PROBABLY EVEN MORE, UNTIL IT WAS DONATED TO CHARITY. NOW I'M CURRENTLY DEALING WITH HONDA IN HOPES TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. I'M HOPING THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND SALVAGE ANY RESPECT AND CONFIDENCE THAT ME AND MY FAMILY HAVE FOR HONDA VEHICLES. *TR
MY WIFE BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2003 AND RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF 3RD GEAR IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR AND GOES INTO NEUTRAL MODE. WILL CONTINUE ON TO 4TH GEAR ONLY IF YOU BACK OFF THE THROTTLE, WHICH SLOWS THE VEHICLE DOWN IN THE PROCESS. THIS PUTS THE OCCUPANTS AND VEHICLES BEHIND YOU AT RISK OF A REAR END COLLISION. PROBLEM IS THE 3RD GEAR CLUTCH PACK IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS USED IN THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD V-6'S. LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID THAT THIS PART HAS BEEN ON LOCAL BACKORDER FROM HONDA FOR 9 MONTHS AND DOES NOT KNOW WHEN NEW PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. CALLED HONDA CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY HELP SINCE THE CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD/108K MILES. ONLY CHOICE WAS TO USE A TRANSMISSION OUT OF A SALVAGE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO ANOTHER FAILURE SINCE THE SALVAGE TRANSMISSION WOULD ALSO BE SUBJECT TO THIS FAILURE. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING AND KNOWN ISSUE FOR 2003 HONDA ACCORD V-6'S AND IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE THEM ISSUE A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AND/OR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE IN A MATTER OF COUPLE DAYS. AT ONE POINT I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. IT SEEMS TO WORK WHEN THE CAR IS JUST STARTING. ONCE THE CAR IS WARMED UP, THE REAL ISSUE BEGINS. *TR
TRANSMISSION BEGIN SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD UNDER HARD ACCELERATION, AS IS TYPICAL FOR THIS YEAR ACCORD, INDICATING EMINENT TRANNY FAILURE. TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND ASKED FOR A GOODWILL REPAIR AFTER HEARING THE COST OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT ($3700). HONDA OFFERED TO COVER 75% OF THE COST, WHICH I ACCEPTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. IN ADDITION, WHEN FIRST ENTERING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 130,000.
ON NOVEMBER 16, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 75 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE TIRES LOCKED AND SQUEALED ENOUGH THAT I COULD SMELL THE RUBBER. BOTH OF OUR SEATBELTS LOCKED OUT BECAUSE OF THE DECELERATION. ABOUT 1/2 SECOND LATER, THE CAR CONTINUED NORMALLY AND WE SLOWED TO 55 MPH. WE PROCEEDED TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND EXPERIENCED ANOTHER SUDDEN DECELERATION THAT WAS NOT AS SEVERE AS THE INITIAL ONE. WE PULLED INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO CHECK THE BRAKES. THEY APPEARED NORMAL. WHEN I SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE ENTIRE CAR SHOOK WITH A PRONOUNCED "CLUNK." WHEN I SHIFTED THE CAR BACK TO P AND RETURNED IT TO D, IT SHOOK THE ENTIRE CAR AGAIN. THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY AROUND THE LOT, SO WE STARTED DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT PAST SECOND GEAR ONCE WE GOT ON THE ROAD. WE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD THE CAR TOWED THE REMAINING DISTANCE TO THE DEALERSHIP. MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL SERVICE SCHEDULE. MY RESEARCH FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH 2003 ACCORD TRANSMISSIONS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE. THE DEALERSHIP WILL CHARGE OVER $4400 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. OTHER WEBSITES SUGGESTED CONTACTING CORPORATE HONDA DIRECTLY TO REQUEST "GOODWILL" FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I RECALLED THE DETAILS TO THE REPRESENTATIVE WHO WOULD NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE BECAUSE IT WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. THE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO STATED THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANY OF THEIR 2003 ACCORDS, WHICH IS HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS GIVEN THE 100S OF COMPLAINTS THAT I FOUND. *TR
DRIVING HOME A COUPLE HOURS AGO THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING ON THE PARKWAY DOING ABOUT 65MPH. THREW ME VIOLENTLY FORWARD THANK GOD I WEAR MY SEAT BELT OR ELSE I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. WOULD NOT SHIFT UP OUT OF FIRST GEAR AFTER THE INITIAL DOWNSHIFT. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED MY CAR. CONTINUED ABOUT TEN MINUTES REALLY SLOWLY IN THE RIGHT LANE UNTIL I GOT OFF AT MY EXIT. I STEADILY BEGAN TO BRAKE COMING TO A RED LIGHT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DOWNSHIFTED TO A HALT MAKING THE PERSON BEHIND MY SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND COME TO A SCREECHING STOP. CONTINUED TO DRIVE DOWN THE 25MPH RESIDENTIAL ROAD LEADING TO MY HOUSE AT 20MPH BECAUSE ANY MORE ACCELERATION SHOT THE RPMS UP TO REDLINE. WHEN I GOT TO MY HOUSE I ALSO REALIZED THAT WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE REVERSE GEAR DOES NOT ACTIVATE AND INSTEAD THE CAR JUST REVS AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN GIVING IT GAS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO SAY THE LEAST. SINCE PURCHASING THIS CAR I HAVE ALWAYS BABIED IT AND HAD THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ISSUES LIKE MINE AND IT IS KNOWN BY HONDA THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE A PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD STAND BY THEIR REPUTATION AND FIX OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE GEARS WHERE SHIFTING DOWN OR NOT SHIFTING AT ALL. GOOD THING I WAS ONLY 10 MILES FROM WORK AND COASTED TO WORK UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP. ONCE THERE, THE SHOP INFORMED ME THAT I NEED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. WE NOW ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING IN A REBUILT TRANSMISSION FOR $4,000. I CALLED HONDA TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HELP. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OTHERS ARE AWARE OF THIS SITUATION AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. THE CAR IS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD V-6 WITH 117,000. WE KEEP UP ON ALL THE CAR MAINTENANCE AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD V6, TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR LEAVING DRIVER WITH NO POWER. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2003 HONDA ACCORD NEW ALONG WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 72 MONTHS 75,000 MILES. IN 2004 WITH 19,000 MILES MY VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE "REQUIRED" FIX WAS MADE AND I WAS TOLD THIS SHOULD SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS. TWO WEEKS AGO WITH 75,300 MILES, MY TRANSMISSION WENT. THE DEALER CHARGED $3600 (NOT INCLUDING PORT CHARGES) TO HAVE THIS REPAIR MADE. I WAS TOLD THAT "THIRD" GEAR FAILED. THE REPAIR ORIGINALLY MADE WAS FOR "SECOND" GEAR. SINCE THIS WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT PART OF THE RECALL, I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETE PAYMENT. AFTER CONTACTING HONDA OF AMERICA, I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PICK UP HALF THE COST. IT APPEARS I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS SITUATION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED (WITH NO PRIOR NOTICE), I WAS DRIVING IN LIGHT TRAFFIC, AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES. HAD THIS FAILED EARLIER IN THE DAY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE IN TOP GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SUDDENLY SHIFT OUT OF GEAR CAUSING A JOLT. WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF THIS HAPPENING FOR THE FIRST TIME THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO TOP GEAR BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME IN LOWER GEAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN OWNED BY MY PARENTS AND MYSELF SINCE IT'S PURCHASE, IT HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN IN A RADICAL MANNER AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOLLOWING THE EXTREME MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. THE TRANSMISSION IS TO BE CHANGED AND THE PCM ALSO. THE CAR HAS 144000KM. I HAVE SEEN THAT IN THE US HONDA IS COVERING THE TRANSMISSION IN THESE YEARS FOR UP TO 160000KM AS A RESULT OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT. HONDA CANADA UNFORTUNATELY HAS NO SUCH COVERAGE AND THE DEAL THEY ARE OFFERING ME IS 2800$+ TAX FOR THE REPAIRS INSTEAD OF THE 7000$ THEY CLAIM IT SHOULD BE COSTING ME. INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION COMPANY'S HAVE GIVEN ME PRICES OF 2500$ AND 2800$. IT MAKES EM FEEL THAT THEY GIVE ME AN EXTREME PRICE SO THAT THEY CAN GIVE ME A "REBATE" WHICH WORKS OUT TO NOT BEING A DEAL AT ALL. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT HONDA IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND THAT THEIR PRODUCT IS NO WHERE NEAR THE QUALITY THAT GAVE HONDA THE REPUTATION IT EARNED IN THE 90S. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE HE WOULD HEAR A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN LEAVING THE DRIVEWAY AND DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND THE WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING ASSEMBLY OR HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING SECURED IN PARK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE AN UNKNOWN REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THE IGNITION KEY: INTERLOCK SWITCH. THREE DAYS LATER AFTER THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PERFORMED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROPRIATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,116.
WHINING NOISE UPON ENGINE STARTUP, VERY PROMINENT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. RECALL O-RING FIX ONLY HELPED FOR A FEW WEEKS. HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. *TR
I OWN A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX, 4 CYLINDER, 95,000 MILES. THE SRS WARNING LIGHT RECENTLY ILLUMINATED. IT ILLUMINATES SPORADICALLY. TAKING IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. HOPEFULLY IT JUST HAS TO BE RESET. *TR
PULLING ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND THE ACCELERATION STOPPED AS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. NO PRIOR WARNING OR ENGINE LIGHT. ALMOST WAS REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK GOING ATLEAST 55 MPH. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO PRINCETON HONDA WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR. SINCE THE CAR HAD 98,563 IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DESPITE THE GEAR 2 RECALL IN 2004. PRINCETON HONDA QUOTED $4200 FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND AMERICA HONDA WOULD OFFER 25% AS A GOOD FAITH DISCOUNT BRING THE PRICE TO $3,600. THE CAR WAS WORTH $7,200 ON KELLEYS BLUE BOOK AS A TRADE AND HONDA PRINCETON WHO SOLD BE THE CAR WAS ONLY WILLING TO OFFER $4,000 AS A TRADE IF I BOUGHT A CAR OFF THE LOT. I HAD FEW OPTIONS AND SETTLED AT A TRADE VALUE OF $5,000. SO MUCH FOR HONDA'S HAVING A GREAT RESALE VALUE! *TR
MY CAR STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN IM GOING INTO SECOND GEAR AND THEN FINALLY ON SUNDAY 10-7-2010 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND MY BRAKES WOULDN'T STOP THE CAR. I WAS RIGHT BY AN EXIT SO I COASTED OFF AND THANK GOD THERE WAS NOT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR WAS TOWED FROM A GAS STATION THROUGH MY EMERGENCY ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND DELIVERED TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER IN RIDGELAND, MS. I WAS ON MY WAY FROM LA TO TN FROM AN ARMY TRAINING. THE DEALER CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING TO LET ME KNOW THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS HEATING UP SO BAD THAT IT WAS SPITTING OUT THE FLUID AND THAT'S WAS ANOTHER REASON MY BRAKES LOCKED UP BECAUSE OF THE HOT TRANSMISSION FLUID GOT INTO MY BRAKE PADS. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, THE DEALER QUOTED ME A PRICE OF 3880.00 TO REPAIR MY CAR AND 300.00 TO REPLACE THE BRAKES. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT AND ALMOST WAS BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I WAS ALSO TRAVELING WITH MY 7 AND 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS. I THINK THAT HONDA SHOULD RECALL THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE 2003 ACCORD EX OR AT LEAST PAY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. *TR
I WAS INFORMED BY MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPT. THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN MY '03 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 POWER STEERING LINE. IT IS TO MY KNOWLEDGE THAT POWER STEERING FLUID IS FLAMMABLE AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. SINCE THIS POSES A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN I AM SOMEWHAT WORRIED AND WOULD LIKE FOR IT TO BE LOOKED INTO. *TR

I TOWED MY CAR TO A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THE COST TO REPLACE THE PARTS WAS $2,956. I FOUND MANY FORUMS WITH HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE YEAR AND MODEL. HONDA SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION BUT DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR IT. THIS WILL BE MY LAST HONDA. I CURRENTLY OWN A HONDA ACCORD AND A 2004 HONDA PILOT. IN A FRONT END COLLISION, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN BOTH PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
OWNER OF A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AT 65,000 MILES HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS DOWNSHIFTING VIOLENTLY. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS HOT (DRIVING MORE THAN 30-40 MINUTES); I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES. IT FELT LIKE SLAMMING ON BRAKES AND I WAS AFRAID THAT I WOULD GET REAR-ENDED SINCE THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO OCCUR ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AFTER TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I DID NOT WAIT LONG TO GET IT DIAGNOSED & FIXED BECAUSE THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DID SOME RESEARCH & FOUND A WEBSITE WHERE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE (HTTP://CDONNER.COM/HONDA-ACCORD-2003-EX-V6-TRANSMISSION-FAILURE.HTM). I INITIALLY TOOK MY CAR TO KUHN HONDA IN TAMPA TO GET IT CHECKED OUT - THEY SAID IT NEEDED A TRANSMISSION ($3700). THEY ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THESE CARS HAVING THIS TYPE OF ISSUE WHICH CONFLICTS WITH ALL OF THE INFO WHICH IS OUT THERE ON THE WEB. I GOT THE SAME STORY AT BRANDON HONDA. THE BRANDON HONDA REP STATED THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE & SEEMED SURPRISED THAT IT OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR ONLY HAD 65K MILES ON IT. THE PLACE WHERE I GOT IT FIXED TOLD ME ABOUT A POTENTIAL SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AS FOR THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS - THEY APPEAR TO BE SHAMELESS LIARS WHO ARE IGNORING A BIG-TIME SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE CAR CAN DOWN SHIFT TO THE POINT WHERE YOU GO FROM 35 TO 60 MPH TO ABOUT 20 OR 25 MPH YOU RISK CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HOPE THAT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF HAVE SOME RECOURSE TO GET JUST COMPENSATION/REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM MANIFESTS ITSELF. YOU WILL BE GAMBLING WITH YOUR LIFE (AND THAT OF OTHERS) IF YOU DRIVE THE CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO SECOND GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD LOCK UP TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ALMOST STOP. THE CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO THE RECALL BEING ISSUED. *JB
2003 HONDA ACCORD EX THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION UNLESS THE CAR IS FORCED HARD INTO PARK. WHEN RUNNING, IF THE CAR IS PLACED IN PARK, THE CAR WILL NOT STAY PARKED AND BEGINS TO MOVE FORWARD. PLACING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON HOLDS THE CAR IF THE CAR TRIES TO MOVE WHILE IN PARK. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE TIME AND HAS BEEN OCCURRING ON MY VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS. *TR
IN LARGER CITY AFTER MANY RED LIGHTS, THE WARM TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THIS HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. THE PROBLEM NOW IS INTERMITTENT BUT I THINK CAN BECOME QUITE SERIOUS. I RECEIVED NO SYMPATHY FROM THE DEALER. FROM THE INTERNET I SEE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND ALL HAVE NO RESOLUTION FROM HONDA.
