TRANSMISSION WILL NOT OR STRUGGLES TO MOVE IN OR OUT OF SECOND GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO PARK. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS CLEANED BY THE MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,400. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62, 5000. UPDATED 09-18-13 *BF THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN TWO ACCIDENTS. UPDATED 09/26/13
PROBLEM STARTED : ABOUT A WEEK AGO . ENGINE WOULD STALL IF EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT TURN SIGNAL WAS/WERE ACTIVATED. AT THE PRESENT, ENGINE DIES WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED..AMERICAN HONDA TOLD US THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE. ( PROBLEM ALSO OCCURS WHEN 4 WAY FLASHERS ARE ACTIVATED). CAR IS UNSAFE AND NOT DRIVABLE WITHOUT TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVE OR HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM , AND ALSO WHAT WAS DONE OR REQUIRED TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE . *TR
CAR FELT LIKE FUEL WASN'T GETTING TO ENGINE AND WOULD SLOW DOWN, THEN SUDDENLY GET GAS AND WOULD JET FORWARD. VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVING WITH MY CHILD AND BABY. HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH A USED TRANSMISSION AND NOW THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TODAY. I'M LUCKY NOT TO HAVE BEEN ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AS IT COULD HAVE SPELLED DEATH FOR MY FAMILY. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AND INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED TO 10 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEED BEGAN FLUCTUATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,498.
WARNING LIGHT GOES ON (EXCLAMATION POINT IN TRIANGLE) WHEN CAR STARTS. TCS LIGHT GOES ON (AFTER DRIVING FOR A MINUTE). MAY BE RELATED TO SEAT BELT ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL SHOP. CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $120 FOR OWN DIAGNOSTIC BEFORE REPLACING SEAT BELT. *TR
MY SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD 2 DR COUPE, V6 WITH 5SP AUTO-58K MILEAGE-TRANSMISSION LOCKING, VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING SHUT ITSELF OFF, COASTED, DRIFTED NO POWER, ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING 0-30 MPH, THREE LANE ROAD CREATING DANGEROUS POTENTIAL FOR DRIVER WITHOUT ANY CAPACITY TO ENGAGE HAZARD LIGHTS, TEMPERATURES 105+ DEGREES. VEHICLE NEARLY REAR ENDED AS IT OCCURRED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. SENSOR INSTALLED AT $322 COST TO OWNER. NO GOODWILL. LESS THAN ONE WEEK ONCE AGAIN TRANSMISSION LOCKING WITHOUT ANY WARNING SHUT ITSELF OFF, ELECTRICAL POWER REMAINED INTACT, DRIVER IMMEDIATELY PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS, YELLOW LIGHT CAME ONE FOR SERVICE, TOW ARRIVED 60 MINUTES LATER THREE LANE HWY HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS. IMPECCABLE SERVICE RECORDS, ALL FROM HONDA DEALER, OWNER DILIGENT WITH EVERY REQUIRED MAINTENANCE AND EXTENDED WARRANTY. HONDA DEALER MECHANIC DIAGNOSED NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY APPROXIMATELY $6,267 W/ 3 YEAR WARRANTY AND HONDA MANUFACTURER OFFERED LESS THAN 6 1/2% TOWARD REPLACEMENT, OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR REMAINDER (DEALER VOLUNTEERED CREDIT OF 23%) DEALER PROVIDED FREE LOANER CAR FOR ONE WEEK AT THEIR COST AS HONDA DID NOT COVER THE LOANER. DECISION PENDING AFTER HONDA IS CONTACTED DIRECTLY TO REMEDY THIS DANGEROUS, RECALLED DEFECT NOTED TO MILLIONS OF OTHERS IN TRANSMISSION RECALL. HAD GREAT POTENTIAL FOR OWNER TO SUSTAIN INJURY OR FATALITY, TWO LOCKING INCIDENTS, ONE WITH ALL POWER FAILURE TOO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY CA FREEWAY GOING 70MPH IN THE FAST LANE, SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED (I THOUGHT) BRAKING VERY VIOLENTLY. I CROSSED THE LANES TO GET TO THE SHOULDER ALL THE WHILE IT WAS STILL BRAKING VIOLENTLY. NARROWLY MISSED BEING REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES. WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR HONDA MECHANIC AND IT TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING FROM 4TH TO 2ND GEAR. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY READ NUMEROUS STORIES EXACTLY LIKE MINE. LOOKS LIKE HONDA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AND IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. YES, THE CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND TRY TO HELP THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS BEFORE THEY ARE KILLED OR INJURED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 60MPH WHEN MY CAR VIOLENTLY SHIFTED DOWN TO SECOND GEAR. *TR
CAR STARTED BURNING OIL AT 100,000 MILES. TAIL PIPE IS FULL OF BLACK SOOT. I HAVE TO PUT 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE CAR EVERY 700 MILES. CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. ON JUNE 28, 2013, AT 148,000 MILES, THE GEARS STARTED SLIPPING AS I WAS DRIVING. THE DRIVE LIGHT IN THE DASH STARTED BLINKING. CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. REVERSE WOULD NOT WORK. MECHANIC STATED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT - COSTING $2,800. I THOUGHT HONDA'S WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST LONGER THAN THIS. I'VE ALREADY COMPLAINED TO HONDA ABOUT THE CAR BURNING OIL BUT THEY SAID THAT IS NORMAL. WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE THERE? DOES ANYONE WANT TO GET A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT TOGETHER? I'VE READ ABOUT MANY INSTANCES WHERE THE MOTOR BURNS OIL AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILS, EVEN WAY EARLIER THAN MINE HAS. IT'S TOO BAD IT WOULD TAKE A FATALITY FOR HONDA TO RESPOND. *TR
ON JUNE 28, 2013 I GOT INTO MY CAR AND TRIED TO CRANK UP MY CAR. MY IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT TURN OVER TO CRANK THE CAR. I FOUND THIS TO BE SURPRISING WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY SWITCH IN THE PAST. I CALLED HONDA, THEY INDICATED THAT IT MAYBE MY KEY, OR MY IGNITION SWITCH, AND TO BRING IT IN FOR AN INSPECTION. AFTER THE INSPECTION HONDA STATED THAT I NEEDED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH THAT WOULD COST $1000. AFTER I WAS TOLD WHAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, I ASKED WAS THERE ANY RECALLS ON THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE DEALER SAID "NO" I LATER CALLED AN ATTORNEY FOR THE MATTER HE ASK FOR MY VIN # AND HE WOULD LOOK INTO IT. AFTER LOOKING INTO THE MATTER HE INDICATED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND TO CALL 18009991009 HONDA SERVICES. I CALLED HONDA THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD AN INSPECTION FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH IN 2010. I THINK HONDA IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH, I FEEL I WAS OVER CHARGED, FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR IS HORRIBLE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY QUIT ON HER. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS NOT REAR ENDED. HACKETTSTOWN HONDA QUOTED ME $4500 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT RELATING TO THIS (#04-037 DATED APRIL 2005) AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR A VARIETY OF OTHER RECALLS. I ALSO OWN A 2003 4 CYLINDER AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES WHILE SHIFTING DOWN INTO FIRST, A SMALL KNOCK. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET UP TO NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS TRAFFIC OPENED UP THE CAR VIOLENTLY SLAMMED INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING MY TIRES TO LOCK UP AND SENT ME VEERING TO THE RIGHT. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS AT A SAFE DISTANCE OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN TOAST. AFTERWARDS I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME IN FIRST GEAR AS NO OTHER GEAR IS WORKING INCLUDING REVERSE. LOOKS LIKE ITS OFF TO THE DEALER TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE CAN BE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THERE IS NO CONCERN OF SAFETY FROM EITHER HONDA OR THE NHTSA, BUT THEY ARE QUICK TO TELL YOU TO REPLACE THE IGNITION INTERLOCK BECAUSE IT'S UNSAFE! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT! *TR
I REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES INVOLVED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APX. 45MPH CAR VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR, AND THEN WENT INTO NEUTRAL, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF. A MINUTE OR TWO LATER I RESTARTED AND IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR. THIS HAPPENED 4 OR 5 TIMES OVER THE NEXT 3 MILES TO GET CAR HOME. SPOKE WITH HONDA SERVICE ADVISOR SAME DAY (6/8/13) AND SHE BASICALLY TOLD ME IT IS A COMMON ISSUE AND I WAS LOOKING REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FOR APX.4 - 4.5K! OVER THE PHONE AND NOT HAVING SEEN THE CAR! CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE (6/10/13) AND AFTER 20 MINUTES ON PHONE WITH REP HE TOLD ME TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALER, HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND DEAL WITH THEM! FAT CHANCE I'LL DO THAT, HAVING IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP. WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM DEALER IN MAY, 2003, HAS APX. 115,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA, MORE SO AFTER "GOOGLING" THE ABOVE ISSUE AND SEEING IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL! NEVER TO BE A HONDA OWNER AGAIN! *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES FROM DRIVE LINE. ( IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN PLACED IN NEUTRAL). IT DOESN'T DO IT WHEN COLD. IF ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND STARTED AFTER 5 MINUTES CAR WILL MOVE. TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST QUOTED $2000-$2500 TO REBUILD TRANS.HE SAID THE TRANS FILTER WAS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM OUTSIDE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CLUTCH PACK DISINTEGRATES AND CLOGS THE FILTER RENDERING THE TRANSMISSION UNRELIABLE. TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD BEEN REPLACED AS PER HONDA RECOMMENDATION, NOW IT SMELLS BURNED AND IS BROWN INSTEAD OF RED. HONDA QUOTED $500 TRADE IN VALUE TOWARDS ANOTHER NEWER CAR. HONDA WANTS $3000-$4000 TO REPLACE WITH REBUILT UNIT. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS MODEL OVER MANY YEARS. HOW MANY FATAL CRASHES HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BUT WERE ATTRIBUTED TO OTHER CAUSES? *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT BUCKLE RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED, WHICH PROMPTED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITHIN THE SRS UNIT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I WAS PREPARING TO EXIT A PARKING AREA WHEN THE ENGINE RPMS JUMPED UP TO 4000+ BUT THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN D BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I ALLOWED THE RPMS TO DROP TO 600, SHIFTED TO N THEN BACK TO D. REPEATED THAT PROCESS A 2ND TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION DID ENGAGE. THE NEXT DAY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER CHECKED BUT COULD NOT VERIFY A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AT 61740 MILES THE SAME TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION IS NOW BEING REPLACED. WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2002. THIS VEHICLE HAD AN EASY LIFE AND LESS THAN 62000 MILES. THE 2004 RECALL FOR ACCORD V6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2ND GEAR DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ON OUR 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX EXPLODED AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY. DUE TO LIGHT TRAFFIC WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT BUT BOTH OF US WERE VERY FRIGHTENED AND VERY DISTRACTED. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO HEAR FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE. HER SEAT BELT BECAME VERY TIGHT EVEN RESTRICTING HER BREATHING WE WERE UNABLE TO LOOSEN THE BELT AND HAD TO STOP AS SOON AS IT WAS SAFE AND HAVE HER SIT IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I WILL BE INTERESTED TO SEE HOW HONDA HANDLES THIS AS IT IS INEXCUSABLE THAT A SAFETY DEVICE USED TO PREVENT INJURY COULD IN EFFECT CAUSE ONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD ONLY TRAVELED 1.5 MILES AND WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A NONSTOP RINGING IN THE EARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND PICTURES WERE TAKEN, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE INFORMATION WAS SENT TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 185,000. *TR
THIS HAPPENED 3X TODAY, THE THIRD TIME WAS TERRIFYING & DANGEROUS. I BARELY GOT ON THE SHOULDER OFF THE HIGHWAY IN TIME. THE TCS LIGHT CAME ON & THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKED FROM LOW TO HIGH GEARS WHILE IN DRIVE, GOING ABOUT 25-30 MPH. I SHUT OFF THE CAR & RESTARTED IT, THE TCS LIGHT SHUT OFF. THE CAR JERKED WHEN I TRIED TO GET OFF THE LINE AND FELT LIKE IT SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. I PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND WHILE PULLING IN, THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY AGAIN BETWEEN ACCELERATING & DECELERATING FOR NO REASON. THE FINAL TIME--I STARTED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR VIOLENTLY WENT OUT OF CONTROL AS IT JERKED WILDLY ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING WHILE TRAFFIC WAS IN ALL LANES OF TRAVEL AROUND ME. I BARELY MADE IT AT ABOUT 20-25 MPH (BY THE TIME THE CAR DECIDED TO COAST INTO A NEUTRAL FEELING GEAR) TO THE SHOULDER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. *TR
I JUST GOT ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND CHANGE FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. IT HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES BEFORE I GOT TO A HONDA SERVICE. FURTHER, THERE ARE AT LEAST 30 MORE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS TRANSMISSION. CLEARLY HONDA HAS HAD SERIOUS MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND THAT HAS CAUSED MAJOR RELIABILITY AND SAFETY ISSUES FOR HONDA OWNERS, LIKE ME. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 20 MPH WHEN MY CAR STARTS REVVING AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. IT HAPPENS BETWEEN 20MPH-40MPH. I WAS TO PULL OVER THEN START DRIVING AGAIN. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THEN NOT NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
I WAS FORTUNATE BUT I AM CONCERNED WE WILL READ ABOUT A PERSON AND /OR FAMILY THAT WAS KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THEIR CAR SLOWED IN THE FAST LANE OR STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING ON A BUSY CALIFORNIA FREEWAY. I WAS CHANGING LANES DOING 65 MPH WHEN MY CAR QUICKLY DECELERATED-I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH POWER TO GET INTO THE NEXT LANE AND CARS WERE COMING IN ALL.LANES. FINALLY,I GOT INTO THE LANE-IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES B4 I COULD GET OFF THE FWY A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY. AT THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL, IT STOPPED COMPLETELY. I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 THAT I PURCHASED IN 2006 WITH 13,000 MILES. IT NOW HAS ~70,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD ALL THE HONDA RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. TODAY, WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED VIOLENTLY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TRIED DRIVING IN D1, D2 AND D3. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. I FINISHED THE DRIVE HOME (ABOUT 1 MILE) AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS NO REVERSE GEAR. SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO, MULTIPLE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH INCLUDING BLINKING INDICATOR NEAR THE "D" GEAR INDICATOR AND ENGINE LIGHT. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN THE CAR VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR AND SLOWED TO 20 MPH. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY ONTO A CITY STREET. THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL IT FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP A MONTH PRIOR AND NO PROBLEMS WERE DETECTED. DURING BOTH INCIDENCES THE TCS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS IMMEDIATELY CAME ON. AFTER PULLING OVER AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE LIGHTS DID NOT REMAIN ON. I INSISTED ABOUT THE SERVICE CALL AND ASKED IF I SHOULD DRIVE THE CAR OR HAVE IT TOWED. THEY INDICATED THAT IT SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE TO THEIR SHOP. I HAD THE SAME ISSUES ON SATURDAY DRIVING THE CAR TO HOLLER HONDA. I RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER, INFORMING ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I PURCHASED THE HONDA ACCORD IN NOVEMBER 2003 AND RECEIVED A RECALL FOR FIXING THE TRANSMISSION IN 2004. HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY MADE A TEMPORARY FIX. BY ONLY PERFORMING A TEMPORARY FIX, THIS CAR WAS A SAFETY HAZZARD. THE TRANSMIISION FOR THE HONDA ACCORD 2003 WOULD GO BEFORE ANY TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE GONE. I AM FORTUNATE THAT MW WIFE WAS NOT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65-70 MILES PER HOUR AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FAIL CAUSING A MAJOR CRASH. *TR
