TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE SPEED SUDDENLY DECREASED TO 15 MPH AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL. THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT A PEDESTRIAN WHO WAS INJURED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSED BY BROKEN GEARS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 109,000.
CAR GOES INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. WILL NOT GO BACK INTO DRIVE MODE UNLESS CAR IS TURNED OFF THEN TURNED BACK ON. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 9/21/2010. TRAFFIC WAS COMING TO A STOP AND I BEGAN TO APPLY MY BRAKE. UPON APPLYING BRAKE MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I'M NOT SURE WHAT MY RATE OF SPEED WAS BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO STOP WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED. MY FRONT END IS DAMAGED TO THE TUNE OF $4,886.08. AFTER MY ACCIDENT I WAS CONFUSED ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED. I KNEW I HAD WAS PAYING ATTENTION ON JUST DIDN'T RAM INTO ANOTHER CAR. I WAS ON A STREET WAS SEVERAL SCHOOL BUS STOPS AND THEY WHERE MAKING THEIR ROUNDS. SO SPEEDING IS NOT AN OPTION. I WAS TALKING WITH MY FIANCE AND HE STATED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HIM ONCE WHILE DRIVING MY CAR. HE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT, AND ALSO THOUGHT IT MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN OPERATOR ERROR IT KIND OF SHOCKED AND CONFUSED HIM AS WELL. I'M GOING TO HAVE MY VEHICLE CHECKED WHILE BEING REPAIRED. I JUST WANT THIS LOOKED INTO THIS WAS REALLY SCARY AND COULD HAVE ENDED UP MUCH WORSE. *TR
2004 HONDA ACCORD TRASMISSION FAILURE. *TR
MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 WITH 74,000 MILES HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS GOING 65 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING THE RPM'S REVVED UP TO 6000, THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED, AND MY CAR ALMOST STOPPED. FORTUNATELY, IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I DECIDED TO HAVE THEM REBUILD IT WITH A COST OF $3,300 RATHER THAN INSTALL A BRAND NEW ONE DUE TO THE EXPENSE. I AM SO GRATEFUL THERE WAS NO ONE IN BACK OF ME ON THE FREEWAY BUT I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 74,000 MILES. *TR
JUST HAPPENED SEPT.5TH. NO ACTION TAKEN THUS FAR.; 2004 HONDA ACCORD ACCELERATED W/O MY FOOT ON GAS AND THEN W/I A FEW MINUTES, IT WOULDN'T GO AT ALL. 3 WOMEN STUCK ON MAJOR 2 LANE HIGHWAY ON THE WAY BACK FROM BEACH ON LABOR DAY WEEK-END. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY AND UNSAFE. I WOULD SAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AND THAT HONDA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF OTHER HONDA ACCORD OWNERS THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. POLICE AND TOW TRUCK WERE NEEDED. *TR
MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX CURRENTLY HAS 80,000 MILES AND NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET FOUND THAT MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HOLD HONDA RESPONSIBLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE SHAKING STOPPED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED OVER FIFTY TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS AND EGR VALVE WERE REPLACED AND THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX-V6 ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BY PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR DID NOT GO ANY QUICKER NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED. I PRESSED DOWN HARD A FEW TIMES AND THEN BEGAN TO MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT LANES IN CASE IT GOT WORSE. THE RPM'S WENT A THE WAY TO ALMOST THE RED BUT THE CAR WAS NOT GOING AND WAS SOWING DOWN. THEN OUT OF THE BLUE IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I STARTED TO GO IT STARTED TO MOVE, GOT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, THEN DID IT AGAIN, RAVING REAL LOUD BUT NOT MOVING. I HAD CARS COMING RIGHT AT ME AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. THEN, THE PERSON I CALLED TO HELP ME, SHOWED UP RIGHT BEHIND ME IN HIS TRUCK AND PUSHED ME OUT OF THE INTERSECTION JUST IN TIME. HONDA ALMOST GOT ME KILLED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED DUE TO THEIR RECOMMENDATION. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE AND WOULD NEED A NEW ONE. THEY SAID I SHOULD CALL HONDA CARE BECAUSE THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT LATELY AND THEIR ARE RECALLS ON THIS TRANSMISSION AS WELL. HONDA TOLD ME TOO BAD, WE CAN'T HELP YOU. I PAID $3,800 FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL MODEL AND NOW IT GIVES ME ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS AND I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS HONDA. I BOUGHT A HONDA BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE. IT SEEMS HONDA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ITS OWNERS AS MUCH AS IT MAY SEEM. *TR
WHEN I EXIT THE 87 FREEWAY SAN JOSE CA AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OVER THE BRIDGE ON CURTNER STREET MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND STOP MOVING FORWARD. THEN MY CAR SLIP BACK A FEW FOOT BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE IT WAS ON. LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME STOP OR ELSE I WOULD OF HIT THEM. THE END RESULT HONDA WOULD NOT COVER SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS COMMON WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND THAT IS TRANSMISSION. *TR

CLEAR COAT AND PAINT IS DISAPPEARING AT AN ALARMINGLY FAST RATE (AND EARLY). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO REV BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER ASSISTED THE CONTACT WITH HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,457. UPDATED 11/22/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP UPON ACCELERATION. UPDATED 11/23/10*JB
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, A FEW CARS BEHIND, AND THEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CARS TOOK OFF. AFTER I JUST PASSED THE INTERSECTION THE FIRST CAR MADE A SUDDEN STOP, AND THE CARS AFTER WERE ABLE TO STOP ALSO. I HAD ENOUGH TIME AND ROOM TO STOP THE CAR ITSELF WITH OUT CRASHING TOO, BUT THE BREAKS DID NOT STOP WHEN MY FOOT WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE PETAL. I WAS NOT GOING MORE THAN FIFTEEN MILE PER HOUR AT THE TIME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF AND THE FRONT WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AFTER GOING INTO THE OTHER CARS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE RADIO BLINKED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,657. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO 70 MPH ON ITS OWN . THE CONTACT THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO WAS A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WOULD TAKE TWO DAYS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 78000.
1) HONDA ACCORD 2004 A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP /FAILED DUE TO SUMMER HEAT 2) PRE-MATURE WEAR OF REAR BRAKE PADS AT 30,298MILES, 03/29/2008. *TR
2004 V6 HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSION HAD A RADICAL AND SUDDEN GEAR CHANGE WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. IT DOWN SHIFTED WITH NO WARNING OR NOTICE. THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO SIGNS OF TROUBLE LEADING UP TO THIS INCIDENT. MY HONDA HAS 111,000 MILES ON IT. MY OWNERS MANUAL SAYS TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT 120,000 MILES. THIS INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSED A SEVERE CRASH. SAFETY IS MY BIGGEST CONCERN. OTHER HONDA OWNERS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I AM GREATLY CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY. THIS INCIDENT HAS MADE ME WANT TO STOP ALL HONDA OWNERS AND MAKE SURE THEY KNOW OF THIS POSSIBILITY. WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS CAR WE HAD NO IDEA HONDA HAS SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2004 TRANSMISSIONS. I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS OWNERS JUST AS UNAWARE. I HOPE NOBODY DIES BEFORE HONDA TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MISTAKE. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT BECAUSE THE SAFETY RECALL STOPPED BEFORE MY VIN # WAS REACHED THAT THEY CANNOT HELP ME. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED ALMOST $4000 FOR THE REPAIR. I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED ON 8/2/2010. THE TRANSMISSION HAS WENT INTO COMPLETE FAILURE IN JUST 2 DAYS SINCE OUR FIRST SIGN SOMETHING WAS AMISS. I HOPE SOMEBODY WILL STEP UP AND MAKE HONDA TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE COST MY HUSBAND HIS LIFE. *TR
I HAD A TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MY HONDA ACCORD EX(YEAR 2004) MODEL TODAY. THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO REVERSE IT. I HAVE TO CALL AAA TO TAKE IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP. DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR ROAD WHEN CAR STARTED TO SMOKE LIKE CRAZY, PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD THEN COULDN'T GET CAR TO DRIVE IN GEAR TO A VERY CLOSE BY SERVICE STATION. HAD CAR FLATBED TO DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THE CAR HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO A CRACKED CASE (PART FAILURE) AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER CONTACTED DISTRICT MANAGER TO SEE IF WE COULD GET A GOODWILL REPAIR FROM AMERICAN HONDA SINCE IT WAS A FAILED PART AND NOT DUE TO MISUSE OR NOT HAVING HAD CAR SERVICED. THEY SAID THEY WOULD COVER %25 OF A $4300.00 REPAIR TO PUT IN A REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION WITH A 90 DAY WARRANTY. I HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALTY SHOP WHO REBUILT THE TRANNY WITH A 1 YEAR WARRANTY FOR $2000.00. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 AND 2004 HONDA ACCORDS (RECALL WAS DONE BUT WAS VIN SPECIFIC). *TR
MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX STARTED ILLUMINATING THE AIR BAG ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HONDA REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SET NH361 [PART # 04816-SDA-A72ZB] AND THE SRS CODE 61010 CLEARED. THE SEAT BELTS WERE COVERED BY A LIFETIME WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SPEED RATE INCREASED TO 65 MPH UNEXPECTEDLY. THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE INFORMED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STUCK. HE APPLIED SLIGHT PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH IMMEDIATELY RELEASED FROM THE STUCK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALSO, HE STATED THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY BE RELATED TO THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT OR THE GPS CHARGER. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED SIGNIFICANT CONCERN THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEFECT HAD CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING 55 MILES AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL REVVING TO VERY HIGH RPM LOSING SPEED, I WAS ABLE TO GET OF THE HIGHWAY AND LUCKILY DRIVERS AROUND ME WERE AWARE AND SAW MY HAZARD LIGHTS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A SHOP TO FIND THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. WITH FURTHER RESEARCH AND CONVERSATION WITH HONDA NORTH AMERICA I FOUND THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT HIGH SPEED IF IT WASN'T FOR THE CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVERS AROUND ME. *TR
WHEN TURN ON THE A/C, LEFT SIDE BLOWS VERY HOT AIR, AND PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COOL AIR. I TURNED THE A/C TO FULL (ALL THE WAY TO BLUE) BUT STILL GETTING EXTREMELY HOT AIR FROM LEFT SIDE WHILE MY WIFE (IN PASSENGER) STARTED COMPLAINING THAT SHE IS SHIVERING. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 HONDA ACCORD COUPE. 3 WEEKS AGO MY PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT ON IT. THIS PREVENTS ME FROM LOCKING MY CAR ANY WAY OTHER THAN MANUALLY PUSHING THE STICK LOCK. IT WILL NOT LOCK BY PRESSING THE KEY FOB OR PUSHING THE LOCK BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR. I HAD THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REPLACED. TODAY (7/3/2010) MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2003-2007 MODEL HONDA ACCORDS. IN ORDER TO REPLACE ONE DOOR ACTUATOR WITH THE DEALERSHIP IT IS OVER 200.00. I CANNOT SPEAK FOR THE OTHER OWNERS OF HONDAS WHO HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM, I FEEL IT'S SO FREQUENT, THAT HONDA SHOULD BE ASSISTING THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION DRIVE TRAIN WENT OUT ON MY 2004 V6 HONDA ACCORD, AND CAUSED ALL SYSTEMS IN MY CAR TO STOP RESPONDING WHILE ON THE FREEWAY GOING 60 MPH. IN THE PROCESS MULTIPLE CARS CAME INTO CLOSE CONTACT WITH MY VEHICLE BEFORE IT STRANDED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. UPON CONTACT WITH SEVERAL AUTOMOTIVE SHOPS IN AREA, I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A LONGSTANDING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE DRIVE TRAIN NOT BEING CONFIGURED FOR THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE AND NOT CORRECTLY FOR A V-6 ENGINE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING UP HILLS OR APPROACHING SLOW TURNS, CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY, OCCURRING ON A CONSISTENT BASIS, DEALER SAID REPAIR WOULD BE APPROX $3,000 AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN # MILEAGE IS 111,376. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. THE TCS (TRACTION CONTROL) WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL THE ENGINE ICON LIGHT, AND THEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THE 2004 ACCORD V6 WON'T DROP OUT OF HIGH GEAR. IT FEELS LIKE IT'S STUCK IN 5TH OR 4TH GEAR AND WON'T DOWNSHIFT. I HAVE TO STOP CAR, RESTART IT, THEN THE TRANSMISSION WORKS LIKE NORMAL. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP ON ME AND TOTALLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. GAVE BE TONS OF PROBLEMS LIKE STEPPING ON GAS CAR REVVED UP BUT DIDN'T GO NOWHERE, DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS ON CAUSING CARS BEHIND ME TO ALMOST CRASH INTO ME. NOW ITS DONE. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND CANT AFFORD IT!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY GRANDSON TO WORK, TRAVELING AT 45 MPH THE TRANSMISSIONS CEASED FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS, THEN SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN CEASED AGAIN. I STOPPED TURNED THE ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MIN. TURNED IT BACK ON AND WORKED FIND FOR ABOUT 3 MIN. THEN IT ALL STARTED AGAIN. LEFT MY GRANDSON AT WORK & WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALER & PAID $81.67 TO HAVE THE FLUID REPLACE. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED & RETURN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT $4075.00 BUT, THAT THEY WILL CONTACT THE HONDA REP. IN AN ATTEMPT TO OFFSET THE COST. HONDA REP. AGREED TO PAY $864.00 & THE REMAINDER ($3211) WOULD BE CHARGE TO ME. MY CAR HAS 121,941 MILES. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE WEREN'T KILLED!!!2004 HONDA ACCORD EXL 6CYL VIN#[XXX]. WE WERE TRAVELING ON ROUTE 95 NORTH OF BOSTON IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT AN APPROX. SPEED OF 60 MPH ON JUNE 10, 2010 AT APPROX. 6:15PM. I WENT TO PASS THE CAR IN FRONT OF US AND STARTED TO PULL INTO THE PASSING LANE ON THE LEFT. SUDDENLY, THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY AND SLOWED DOWN SUDDENLY. THE CAR IN BACK OF US ALMOST HIT US AND SWERVED INTO THE LANE ON THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING OUR CAR. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ALMOST RUN OVER BY A SEMI TRUCK WHO JAMMED ON HIS BRAKES. I THOUGHT HE (THE TRUCK) WAS GOING TO JACK KNIFE. I SEE THAT THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS A RECALL ITEM FOR HONDA. THE HONDA DEALER (KELLEY HONDA IN LYNN, MASS.) SAYS THAT THEY WILL NOT HELP US FINANCIALLY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS 90,000 MILES AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE OTHERWISE. WE ARE VERY UPSET AT HONDA'S REACTION TO THIS SAFETY FAILURE AND WE FEEL STRONGLY THAT THE US GOV'T SHOULD STEP IN BEFORE PEOPLE ARE NEEDLESSLY KILLED IN CARS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. HONDA ACCORD 2004. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND JUMPED THE CURB. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR BY JAMMING THE BRAKE. I OWN A 2004 V6 HONDA ACCORD WITH 62K MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING ON 5/7/10, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BY ITSELF, MY TACHOMETER JUMPED UP TO 7 (RED AREA), I USED BRAKES AND IT SLOWED DOWN SOME, THEN IT SPED UP AGAIN, THEN IT DROPPED DOWN TO NO POWER. WHILE DRIVING ON A RAINY DAY THE BATTERY SIGNAL FLASHES FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THE STEERING GETS LOCKED FOR APPROX 3 SEC AND AFTER 3 SEC IT GETS BACK TO NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK GOING ABOUT 55MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED QUICKLY SLOWING. AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS OF DOWN SHIFT, THE CAR REVVED TO HIGH RPMS AND WAS IN FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL (IT WAS ACTUALLY IN DRIVE). I HAD TO COAST ACROSS 2 LANES TO GET OFF THE ROAD. BUT WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT, THE CAR WOULD REV HIGH AS IT COULDN'T SHIFT TO THE NEXT HIGHER HEAR AND ACTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE SUDDEN SLOWING IN TRAFFIC WHEN IT DOWNSHIFTED NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH THE CAR BEHIND ME. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER STATED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND ADVISED HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 94,000.

A FEW WEEKS AGO, AT 92,000 MILES, THE CAR WAS 6 YEARS OLD SO WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED FOR THE FIRST TIME USING HONDA FLUID, ALL IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE HONDA OWNER'S MANUAL. THE MECHANIC SAID THE ORIGINAL FLUID WAS VERY GRAY AND THERE WAS A LOT OF METAL ATTACHED TO THE DRAIN PLUG. IT LOOKED REALLY BAD. 2. ON 4/30/10 AT 92,500 MILES, (500 MILES LATER), WE WERE DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND THE CAR STARTED CUTTING OUT. WE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND THE CAR IDLED FINE. WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. WE HAD CAR TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO THE HONDA DEALER. 3. ON 3/31/10, THE HONDA DEALER TOLD US THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I SPOKE TO THE DEALER AND HONDA MOTOR COMPANY AND SHOWED THEM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000, WHICH IS A RECALL OF THE 2004 HONDA ACCORD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT THEY TOLD ME IT WAS VIN SPECIFIC AND SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA IN HOPES THAT THE RECALL WOULD BE EXPANDED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY AND THE GAS PEDAL ENGAGED ITSELF AND ACCELERATED BY ITSELF.
